Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a juice extraction device for fruit and vegetable products.
[0002] As is known, the extraction of juice from oranges, lemons, grapefruits, other citrus fruits, pomegranates, other fruits or fruit and vegetable products makes it possible to obtain juices that can be enjoyed alone or used as an ingredient in cocktails and other beverages.
[0003] Pulp extraction can be performed manually or using automatic or semi-automatic special devices, which are widely used for domestic use (in private homes) and professional use (eg in bars, restaurants, canteens, etc.).
[0004] In particular, known devices are provided with one or more pairs of rotating elements which interact with each other for pulping the already pre-cut product until a pulp is obtained which is conveniently filtered of seeds, impurities etc. and then conveyed to a collection area where a drinking cup can be placed.
[0005] The above-described profile configuration is accomplished by several types of implementations, some fully automatic and others requiring at least partial participation by the user.
[0006] In any case, each of them may present some disadvantages: it must be noted that there is in fact an increasing awareness of the need to clean the rotor and the parts that generally interact with the product to be juiced regularly enough to maintain optimal hygienic conditions over time.
[0007] In contrast, the structure of the machine is usually designed only to ensure an optimal interaction between the rotor, the corresponding kinematic movement mechanism and the other elements intended for a correct performance of juicing, without due regard to the above-mentioned requirements. It is therefore often inconvenient, and may even be impossible, for the user to carry out a temporary disassembly of individual parts or subassemblies, which is desirable in order to be able to easily clean them in the sink before reassembly.
[0008] Therefore, the need is recognized to simplify the interaction between the user and the components of the device, specifically in order to allow a quick and straightforward disassembly and reassembly of those components or parts that require frequent cleaning and in any case particular attention.
[0009] The object of the present invention is to solve the above mentioned problems by providing a juice extraction device which provides a practical method for temporary disassembly of subassemblies and individual components.
[0010] Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a juice extraction device that enables temporary disassembly of the subassemblies designed for juicing in a rapid and direct manner.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to provide a structure that allows temporary disassembly of the subassemblies designed to perform juicing for different types of juicing devices.
[0012] Another object of the invention is to provide a juice extraction device which ensures high operational reliability.
[0013] Another object of the present invention is to provide a juice extraction device, the technical structure of which replaces the technical structure of a conventional device.
[0014] Another object of the present invention is to provide a juice extraction device that can be easily realized using components and materials that are easily available on the market.
[0015] Another object of the present invention is to provide a juice extraction device which is low in cost and safe to use.
[0016] This aim and these objects as well as other objects which will become more apparent hereinafter are achieved by a juice extraction device according to claim 1 .
[0017] Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the description of two preferred but not exclusive embodiments of the device according to the invention, which are illustrated by way of non-limiting examples in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figures 1 to 10 A juice extraction device in a first embodiment according to the present invention is shown, and more specifically: Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a device according to the present invention; Figure 2 yes Figure 1 A perspective view of the device; Figure 3 and Figure 4 They are Figure 1 A front view and a side view of the device; Figure 5 It is observed from above Figure 1 a view of the device; Figure 6 It is observed from above Figure 6 A view of the device with some of the covering elements removed; Figure 7 yes Figure 1 A perspective view of the barrel of the device; Figure 8 and Fig. 9 They are Figure 1 A perspective view of a juice extraction rotor and a conveying rotor of the device; Fig.10 yes Figure 1A perspective view of a subassembly of the device comprising a juice extraction rotor and a transfer rotor; Figures 11 to 17 A juice extraction device in a first embodiment according to the present invention is shown, and more specifically: Fig.11 is an exploded perspective view of a device according to the present invention; Fig.12 yes Fig.11 A perspective view of the device; Fig.13 yes Fig.11 A side view of the device in; Fig.14 yes Fig.11 A perspective view of the barrel of the device; Fig.15 and Fig.16 They are Fig.11 A perspective view of a juice extraction rotor and a conveying rotor of the device; Fig.17 It is observed from above Fig.11 A view of a subassembly of the device, which includes the juice extraction rotor and the transfer rotor.
[0018] With particular reference to the drawings, reference numeral 1 generally designates a juice extraction device for fruit and vegetable products A.
[0019] In this regard, it is emphasized that, in a preferred application, the device 1 is intended to extract juice from a product A consisting of oranges or other citrus fruits; at the same time, the scope of protection claimed herein includes the possibility that the device 1 can be configured for or in any case be used for the extraction of juice from other fruit and vegetable products A, in particular (but not limited to) spherical fruits without hard cores, such as pomegranates, mangoes, apples, etc.
[0020] Moreover, as will be better explained below, the device 1 can be supplied with products A already pre-cut (generally, into two hemispherical portions) or still intact (in the latter case, leaving it to the device 1 to cut them, preferably into hemispherical portions).
[0021] The device 1 can be used in any environment, and in particular, it can be used in a private house or in any case in a domestic environment (particularly, but not exclusively in embodiments that receive pre-cut fruit); likewise, the device 1 can be actively used in a professional environment, and therefore in bars, canteens, restaurants, food trucks / cafeterias and any other commercial enterprise suitable for serving food and drinks. In these latter cases, embodiments of the device 1 that also handle the cutting may be preferred (thereby freeing the operator from this task), but the possibility of using embodiments that require pre-cutting in this case as well is not excluded.
[0022] The device 1 comprises an external housing 2 which internally delimits a compartment 3 for accommodating at least one juice extraction rotor 4 and at least one conveying rotor 5 .
[0023] The (or each) juice extraction rotor 4 can rotate about a first rotation axis B which is arranged perpendicular to an ideal resting plane of the housing 2. It should be noted in this regard that the shape of the housing 2 (and the device 1 in general) allows it to be used in a single orientation and that there is therefore a single possible ideal resting plane (which would be a table, a worktop, a shelf etc.) and that we can therefore describe the verticality of the first rotation axis B with respect to this plane without any doubt (for the skilled person or anyone else) as to the arrangement of the first rotation axis B. However, more simply we can say that the first axis B is vertical.
[0024] Next, the (or each) conveying rotor 5 can rotate next to the juice extraction rotor 4 (next to the respective juice extraction rotor 4) about a second rotation axis C and has at least one seat 6 for at least partially receiving at least a portion of the fruit and vegetable product A, wherein the second rotation axis C is arranged parallel to the first axis B (and therefore also perpendicular to the ideal resting plane, i.e. vertical).
[0025] As will be better explained below (and can be seen from the attached figures), the number of juice extraction rotors 4 and conveying rotors 5 can be arbitrary: when referring to the juice extraction rotor 4 and / or the conveying rotor 5 below, it should be understood to apply to all (or some) of the rotors 4, 5 actually included in the device 1.
[0026] The choice of vertically arranging the axes of rotation B, C makes it possible to simplify the structure since the products A move parallel to the axes B, C between the zones of the device 1 due to gravity without having to provide special movement elements (as happens with systems using horizontal axes).
[0027] During the respective useful portion of the rotation of the rotors 4, 5 (about the corresponding axes B, C), the juice extraction rotor 4 enters at least partially into the seat 6 so as to be able to perform the juicing of the portion of the fruit and vegetable product A (or product A) housed in the seat 6. Preferably, the device 1 is configured to act on half of the product A (or in any case on a portion thereof housed therein) by the entry of the juice extraction rotor 4 into the seat 6, but the possibility of configuring the device 1 so that the entire product A can be placed in the seat 6 is not excluded.
[0028] The rotors 4, 5 effectively behave as similar matching profiles and thus perform the desired juicing of oranges (or another fruit or other fruit and vegetable product A).
[0029] According to the invention, the device 1 comprises a barrel 7 which is removably arranged in the compartment 3 in at least one juice extraction configuration and which is configured to house at least the rotors 4, 5. The "juice extraction configuration" should effectively be understood as the normal use state of the device 1, in which the user can use it to juice the product A (and this is in contrast to a configuration that can be obtained by temporarily disassembling the barrel 7 for cleaning or maintenance).
[0030] Therefore, from this point on, the option of having a removable barrel 7 in the compartment 3 achieves the set objective: the barrel 7 can be easily removed from the housing 2 and with it the rotors 4, 5 can be temporarily disassembled, or the parts used for juicing and therefore designed to interact with the extracted juice, pulp, peel and any other part of the fruit. The rotors 4, 5 can then be easily cleaned (optionally leaving them in the barrel 7) or maintained, and then replaced in the compartment 3 in order to resume the use of the device 1.
[0031] In particular, the housing 2 comprises a base 8 below and a housing chamber 9 which rests (rigidly or removably) on the base 8 . The compartment 3 (and the tub 7 , when placed therein) are arranged inside the chamber 9 , above the base 8 .
[0032] Thus, the lower surface of the base 8 is designed to rest on a table, countertop or shelf and thus defines an ideal resting plane.
[0033] Internally, the base 8 houses a device for moving the rotors 4, 5, which in turn may include a drive assembly consisting of at least one first rotating shaft 10 and at least one second rotating shaft 11, which are arranged along the first rotating axis B and the second rotating axis C, respectively, and respectively support the juice extraction rotor 4 and the conveying rotor 5. The coaxial coupling between the shafts 10, 11 and the respective rotors 4, 5 is of the removable type (it may be coupled, for example, by interlocking and then uncoupled by elastic forces, or it may be done by threads or in other ways), so as to allow the rotors 4, 5 to be removed together with the barrel 7, while the shafts 10, 11 remain in the base 8.
[0034] from Fig.11 It can be seen that the upper ends of the shafts 10 , 11 (the only parts that can be seen and are therefore identified in the figure) protrude from the base 8 in order to be able to co-axially cooperate with the respective rotor 4 , 5 .
[0035] In one possible embodiment of the invention, which in no way limits the scope of protection claimed herein, the drive assembly may comprise a gear motor which moves a plurality of mutually meshing gears connected to the shafts 10, 11 so as to rotate the shafts and the rotors 4, 5 according to the desired law of motion. By conveniently designing and dimensioning the kinematic mechanism, any rotational speed can be imparted to the two rotors 4, 5; in particular, a person skilled in the art will have no difficulty in ensuring that the speed of the juice extraction rotor 4 is properly proportional to the speed of the delivery rotor 5, so as to ensure that each complete rotation of the latter corresponds to a sufficient number of complete rotations of the former (as a function of the number of seats 6 provided along the delivery rotor 5). Furthermore, the possibility of providing the device 1 with different drive devices is not excluded, including those of the manual type (for example a crank on which the user acts to move the shafts 10, 11 and therefore the rotors 4, 5).
[0036] In order to allow the connection between the rotors 4, 5 arranged in the tub 7 and the shafts 10, 11 arranged below in the base 8, the tub 7 comprises a bottom plate 7a provided with respective apertures 7b (which has as many apertures 7b as there are rotors 4, 5 or respective shafts 10, 11); moreover, the tub 7 comprises a side surface 7c extending (vertically) from the edge of the bottom plate 7a. Preferably, the tub 7 is also open in the upper region in order to allow easy access to the rotors 4, 5 (in the juice extraction configuration, it can be closed in various ways, as shown below).
[0037] In the preferred embodiment shown in the attached figures for the purpose of non-limiting example of the application of the invention, the conveying rotor 5 comprises a preferably perforated central body 12, which is elongated along the second axis of rotation C and provided with at least one longitudinal groove on the side. This groove delimits the corresponding seat 6 and has a cross section that is curved and convex so as to be able to accommodate a substantially hemispherical portion of pre-cut fruit and vegetable products A, with the peel facing the second axis C (towards the inside) and the pulp at the cutting area facing the outside. By arranging the cutting area of the pulp facing outwards, we ensure that this is the portion affected by the juice extraction rotor 4 when the juice extraction rotor 4 enters the seat 6.
[0038] More specifically, the central body 12 is shaped like a cylinder and along its side wall there are one or more longitudinal grooves (which extend along an equal number of directrixes and whose cross-section is shaped like a portion of a circle) which become corresponding seats 6: in this regard, the figures show conveying rotors 5 each comprising four seats 6 consisting of an equal number of grooves evenly distributed along the side wall of the central body 12.
[0039] With further reference to a preferred non-limiting embodiment, the juice extraction rotor 4 comprises a main body 13 which is elongated along the first axis of rotation B and has at least one longitudinal sector 13a which is enlarged, curved and concave (shaped to be complementary to the seat 6 and which is therefore preferably semi-cylindrical). The sector 13a, preferably perforated, thus enters, at the above-mentioned useful portion, into the corresponding seat 6 in order to extract juice from the portion of the fruit and vegetable product A contained therein (or the entire product A contained therein).
[0040] As can be seen in the attached figures, it should be noted that the curvature of the outer edge of the sector 13a is chosen to correspond substantially to the curvature of the cross section (of the longitudinal grooves) of the seat 6: when the sector 13a enters the seat 6, the latter is reduced to a gap of minimum size, capable in fact of containing only the peel of the product A, thus ensuring optimal juicing. However, if one or both of the bodies 12, 13 are at least partially perforated (as envisaged in a preferred application), the juice can flow downwards by gravity directly along the gap or inside one or both of the bodies 12, 13.
[0041] Usefully, the rotors 4, 5 rest on a perforated grid 14 which can be removably or fixedly coupled to the rotors 4, 5. The grid 14 is in any case housed inside the tub 7 and can therefore also be easily removed when the user wants to clean separately the parts involved in the juice extraction step (and therefore in contact with the product A and / or the juice).
[0042] The grid 14 (preferably) remains elevated relative to the bottom plate 7a of the tub 7, at least in the juice extraction configuration, so as to define a compartment (between the bottom plate 7a and the grid 14) for collecting the extracted liquid, which compartment is placed in communication with the ducts for distributing the liquid to the outside through corresponding manifolds (openings provided in the bottom plate 7a).
[0043] Thus, in normal operation, when the juice extraction rotor 4 brings the sectors 13a into the corresponding seats 6, the extracted juice enters the holes of the sectors 13a and then reaches the main body 13 (and optionally the central body 12 on the other side). From there, the liquid falls by gravity towards the collection compartment, where it falls after additional filtering through the action of the grid 14, thus preventing any seeds or other solid waste (such as pulp) from being distributed to the outside with the juice. The device 1 can be used with other means for facilitating the removal of the extracted juice, such as a platform 15 protruding from the housing 2 (from the base 8) and designed to receive a container D (bottle, drinking cup, etc.) that can be used to collect the juice supplied by an overlying outlet 16 (also protruding from the housing 2) arranged at the outer end of the distribution channel.
[0044] It should be noted that, before the action of the juice extraction rotor 4, the portion of the product A contained in the seat 6 is retained inside it, since the seat 6 is in fact closed by the lateral surface 7c of the barrel 7, the size and shape of which are chosen to complement those of the set of rotors 4, 5 (this may be obtained, for example, from Figure 6 ).
[0045] As regards the dimensions of the device 1 , it should be noted that the shapes and dimensions of its components, in particular those of the rotors 4 , 5 , the seat 6 and the barrel 7 , are chosen according to the type of product A and that they can be modified (even as long as they do not interfere with the rest of the device 1 ) for different uses.
[0046] Furthermore, the base 8 may have one or more recesses occupied by respective drawers 17, which are open in the upper region and are arranged at the return portion (travelled to the return portion after the useful portion) of the juice extraction rotor 5. Thus, the peels and other juicing debris are gradually collected in the drawers 17 by gravity and can be easily removed by the user by extracting the drawers 17.
[0047] In the attached Figure 1-10 In the embodiment of the invention, the housing 2 is closed in the upper region by a cover 18 which rests removably on top of the housing chamber 9: the connection between the cover 18 and the chamber 9 is preferably chosen so as to ensure a stable fastening during juicing, but still easy to loosen so as to allow temporary removal of the cover 18 and then removal of the barrel 7 in order to clean the rotors 4, 5 and other components usually contained therein.
[0048] The cover 18 has at least one access port which, in at least one angular insertion position of the delivery rotor 5 (a position which effectively corresponds to the start of a juicing cycle), faces the seat 6; this port can be closed by at least one sector-shaped door 19 which rotates about the second axis of rotation C. The door 19 prevents the introduction of dust and dirt into the seat 6 and is rotated only when the user actually wants to place the portion of the product A (pre-cut) that the user wants to juice into the seat 6. There can be more than one door 19 and they can be made to overlap during their rotation so as to be able to close an opening shaped like a whole ring, thus being able to serve a greater number of seats 6.
[0049] Therefore, in Figure 1-Figure 10 In the embodiment of the device 1 shown, before introducing a portion of the orange (or other product A) into the seat 6 through the access port of the lid 18, the orange (or other product A) is cut by the user, as can be seen, carefully arranging the peel towards the second axis C and the flesh at the cut area on the other side.
[0050] On the contrary, for example Figure 11-Figure 17 In an embodiment of the apparatus 1 , the apparatus 1 may also comprise a cutting device for automatically cutting the whole fruit and vegetable product A, which is configured to automatically cut the product A into two substantially hemispherical parts (thereby freeing the user from this task).
[0051] In particular, in this embodiment, the device 1 comprises at least one pair of conveying rotors 5 (and a corresponding number of juice extraction rotors 4): at a corresponding angular loading position, at least two (corresponding to the number of conveying rotors 5) corresponding seats 6 face each other (e.g. Fig.17 ), so as to temporarily define a (cylindrical) recess 20 suitable for accommodating the entire fruit and vegetable product A.
[0052] Thus, the means for cutting comprises a ridge 21 which projects inwardly from the barrel 7 and has a sharp edge (only in Fig.17 , which is temporarily disassembled in the other figures), the sharp edge extends parallel to the rotation axes B, C and is arranged facing and close to the recess 20. In this way, during the rotation of the seat 6 towards the corresponding useful portion (starting from the angular loading position in which they form the recess 20), the entire fruit and vegetable product A accommodated in the recess 20 is pushed towards the edge and cut into two hemispherical parts that remain accommodated in the corresponding seat 6.
[0053] Continuing the rotation, juice extraction is performed by means of the juice extraction rotor 4 entering into the seat 6 in a manner similar to the previous embodiment.
[0054] Advantageously, in the embodiment now presented, the housing 2 is provided in the upper region with a magazine 22 for fruit and vegetable products A, which rests removably on the chamber 9 (in the manner already illustrated for the cover 19 ) and is provided with lateral limiting sides 23 .
[0055] The magazine 22 has an access to the seat 6 , which is also managed by a closing door or other system to prevent the entry of dust.
[0056] The operation of the device according to the invention is as follows.
[0057] The device 1 can be supplied with pre-cut portions (for example hemispheres) of oranges or other products A or with the whole product A, in the latter case the task of obtaining the cut portions is left to means for cutting optionally provided in the device 1 .
[0058] The juice extraction operation takes place in the same way in any case: the simultaneous rotation of the juice extraction rotor 4 and of the corresponding conveying rotor 5 ensures that the sectors 13 a of the former enter the seats 6 of the latter, thereby compressing the portion of the product A previously contained in the seats 6 .
[0059] Thus, in fact, the sector 13a and the seat 6 behave like two matching profiles that mesh with one another, thereby ensuring almost complete occupancy of the groove during rotation and therefore complete extraction of the juice of the portion of product A contained therein.
[0060] As mentioned above, this portion is introduced directly by the user or obtained via automatic cutting by the device 1 .
[0061] By means of juice extraction, the juice falls downward by gravity and is transported to the outside, leaving the housing 2 through the water outlet 16 .
[0062] The rotors 4 , 5 continue to rotate, which makes it possible to collect the peels and other debris in the drawer 17 .
[0063] The device 1 thus firstly enables the extraction of juice from one or more oranges (or other product A) to be achieved in a practical and easy manner.
[0064] In a completely unique manner, the rotors 4, 5 can be easily removed by lifting and removing the barrel 7 that houses the rotors 4, 5 for this purpose. A simple lifting action may be sufficient to remove the engagement between the rotors 4, 5 and the underlying shafts 10, 11 (for example, if the design is of the interlocking type); or, before removing the barrel 7, the user can unscrew the rotors 4, 5 or in any case remove the engagement with the shafts 10, 11.
[0065] In any case, with a few simple operations, the user can lift the lid 18 or the cartridge 22 and then easily remove only the barrel 7 with the rotors 4, 5 (and the grid 14), without touching the rest of the device 1 and the housing 2 (in particular the more complex and delicate parts housed in the base 8, such as the drive assembly and the shafts 10, 11). In this way, the removed parts can be put under the tap or easily cleaned, and then the juice extraction configuration can be restored just as easily. It is just as easy to perform maintenance or repair operations on the removed parts.
[0066] After its removal, the tub 7 becomes a useful container for all the components inside it, which can thus be moved together for cleaning (or for example to take them to a maintenance area).
[0067] The simplicity and rapidity of the operations involved make it possible to carry out cleaning with any desired frequency, even very frequently, in order to ensure always hygienic conditions for optimal juice extraction (which concerns the rotors 4 , 5 and the tub 7 ).
[0068] Therefore, removal involves a limited number of parts that are lightweight and completely straightforward even for less experienced users, which is also achieved by ensuring a practical cleaning method that can be performed at any frequency.
[0069] Therefore, the choice of using a removable barrel 7 makes it possible to achieve the set objectives, since it makes it possible to obtain a juice extraction device 1 that provides a practical way of temporarily disassembling subassemblies and single parts, in particular the rotors 4, 5 for juicing, which are lifted and transported inside the barrel 7 in a quick and direct way.
[0070] This particular cleaning method can be used effectively in various different types of apparatus 1, namely both in apparatuses which require pre-cutting of the product A and in apparatuses which process the cutting themselves.
[0071] The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. Furthermore, all the details may be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.
[0072] In the illustrated embodiments, individual features shown in relation to specific examples may be replaced by other different features that actually exist in other embodiments.
[0073] In practice, the materials used as well as the dimensions may be any according to requirements and the state of the art.
