During operation, when the base sensor 47 senses the base rod 24 in the base connector 46 at or within its first distance, the base sensor 47 may send a locking signal to the ECU 70. In turn, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the base latch unit 44 to lock the base rod 24 within the base connector 46, thereby securing the base portion 22 to the receiving portion 42 in the locked base position.
[0067] In addition, the base sensor 47 is configured to monitor a locked base position. That is, by sensing that the base rod 24 is within its first distance, the base sensor 47 is able to monitor the locked base position between the base portion 22 and the receiving portion 42. In this embodiment, when the base rod 24 is within the first distance from the base sensor 47, the base sensor 47 can send a confirmation signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the locked base position has been reached and / or is being maintained. In the event that the locked base position changes, the base sensor 47 can send a warning signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the base portion 22 may need to be repositioned relative to the receiving portion 42. In this example, the ECU 70 can be configured to notify / warn the driver or occupant in the vehicle through the cabin display unit 72. Other suitable options may be available to the driver / occupant without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.
[0068] refer to Figure 5-6, the ECU 70 communicates with the backrest sensor 55 and the backrest latch unit 52 to lock the backrest rod 28 in the backrest connector 54 when the backrest rod 28 is inserted at a second distance. When the backrest rod 28 is inserted into the backrest connector 54, the backrest sensor 55 is configured to sense the backrest rod 28 relative to the backrest connector 54. In addition, the backrest latch unit 52 is configured to lock the backrest rod 28 in the backrest connector 54 when the backrest rod 28 is sensed at the second distance, so as to fix the backrest portion 26 to the support portion 50 defining the locked backrest position. Therefore, when the backrest rod 28 is inserted into the backrest connector 54, the backrest sensor 55 is configured to sense the backrest rod 28 at the second distance from the backrest rod 28, so that the backrest latch unit 52 can be activated to lock the backrest rod 28 therein. In operation, when the backrest sensor 55 senses the backrest rod 28 in the backrest connector 54 at or within its second distance, the backrest sensor 55 may send a locking signal to the ECU 70. In turn, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the backrest latch unit 52 to lock the backrest rod 28 in the backrest connector 54, thereby fixing the backrest portion 26 on the support portion 50 in the locked backrest position.
[0069] In addition, the backrest sensor 55 is configured to monitor the locked backrest position. That is, by sensing that the backrest rod 28 is within its second distance, the backrest sensor 55 is able to monitor the locked backrest position between the backrest portion 26 and the support portion 50. In this embodiment, when the backrest rod 28 is within the second distance from the backrest sensor 55, the backrest sensor 55 can send a confirmation signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the locked backrest position has been reached and / or is being maintained. In the event that the locked backrest position changes, the backrest sensor 55 can send a warning signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the backrest portion 26 may need to be repositioned relative to the support portion 50. In this example, the ECU 70 can be configured to notify / warn the driver or occupant in the vehicle through the cabin display unit 72. Other suitable options may be available to the driver / occupant without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.
[0070] In the present embodiment, the ECU 70 is configured to release the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59 upon receiving a request to deactivate the child seat latch assembly. That is, after reaching the destination of the trip, the ECU 70 sends an end signal to the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 to demagnetize the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59. Once the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 are released, the ECU 70 is configured to unlock the base rod 24 from the base connector 46 and unlock the backrest rod 28 from the backrest connector 54 to separate the portable child seat 20 from the fixed vehicle seat 40. That is, after releasing the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the base latch unit 44 and the backrest lock unit 56 to unlock the base lock 48 and the backrest lock 56, respectively. In turn, the base rod 24 is unlocked from the base connector 46, and the backrest rod 28 is unlocked from the backrest connector 54. After unlocking the base rod 24 and the backrest rod 28, the ECU 70 determines that the child seat latch assembly has been deactivated.
[0071] As discussed above, when the ECU 70 receives signals from and sends signals to various components, it should be understood that the ECU 70 can send signals to a cabin display unit 72 (e.g., located on the dashboard of the vehicle) so that the cabin display unit 72 can display status updates or warnings to the user, provide control options to the user, and receive input regarding system control options therefrom.

However, in this embodiment, the base portion 122 includes a first cushion 123 and a base rod 124 embedded therein. And, the back portion 126 includes a second cushion 127 and a back rod 128 embedded therein. In addition, the embedded rod can stack multiple child seats for storage.
[0074] refer to Figures 8A-8B , the assembly 112 also includes a fixed vehicle seat 140 having a receiving portion 142 and a supporting portion 150. As shown, the receiving portion 142 includes a third cushion 143 and a base latch unit 144 similar to the above-described embodiments. However, in this embodiment, the base latch unit 144 is movably extended from the third cushion 143. In operation, the base latch unit 144 is movably extended from the third cushion 143 to the first cushion 123 so that the base connector 146 receives the base rod 124 therein to secure the base portion 122 to the receiving portion 142. When the ECU 70 communicates with the base latch unit 144, the ECU 70 can send a signal to the base latch unit 144 to move and extend the base connector 146 from the third cushion 143 to receive the base rod 124 therein. It will be understood that the base connector 146 can be movably extended by any suitable means, such as a servo motor, without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.

When the ECU 70 communicates with the backrest latch unit 52, the ECU 70 can send a signal to the backrest latch unit 52 to cause the backrest connector 54 to movably extend from the fourth cushion 51 to receive the backrest rod 28 therein. It is understood that the backrest connector 54 can be movably extended by any suitable means, such as a servo motor, without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.
[0076] Fig.11 Shown for control Figure 1Flowchart of a general process 210 of the child seat latch assembly 12 of -6. As shown in box 212, the step of fixed vehicle seat identification is performed. In addition, in box 214, the step of portable child seat fixing (alignment) is implemented. In addition, in box 216, the steps of portable child seat locking and locking monitoring are performed. In addition, in box 218, the steps of portable child seat unlocking and unlocking monitoring are completed.
[0077] Fig.12 A method 310 for controlling a child seat latch assembly 12 according to an example of the present disclosure is described. As shown, the method includes providing a portable child seat 20 configured to be secured in a vehicle 14 in block 312 (typically, block 212 secures a vehicle seat identifier). In this embodiment, the method implements the above-discussed Figure 1 The system 10 includes Figure 2 -6 Portable child seat shown.
[0078] refer to Fig.12 The method further includes, in block 314, identifying a fixed vehicle seat 40 in the vehicle (typically, block 212 fixed vehicle seat identification) when a child seat latch assembly activation request is received. In this example, the method implements the above-discussed and Figure 1 -6. As described above, the ECU 70 is configured to identify the fixed vehicle seat 40 in the vehicle upon receiving a child seat latch assembly activation request. In one example, the ECU 70 receives a reservation ticket / signal or activation request from a user device 74 via a cloud server 76 for boarding the vehicle and activating the child seat latch assembly / system. The user device 74 is preferably equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) for determining the user's location via the user device 74.
[0079] In one embodiment, the vehicle may include a plurality of fixed vehicle seats 40 that can be activated to engage with the portable child seat 20. For example, the vehicle may include a first fixed vehicle seat disposed on one side of the vehicle (e.g., the left side) and a second fixed vehicle seat disposed on another side of the vehicle (e.g., the right side). In response to the request, the ECU 70 is configured to identify and select one of the plurality of fixed vehicle seats 40 to activate engagement with the portable child seat 20 based on the GPS location of the user device 74 relative to the vehicle.
[0080] Conversely, refer to Fig.12The method further includes activating the child seat latch system in frame 316 to enable the base latch unit 44 and the back latch unit 52 of the identified fixed vehicle seat 40 to secure the portable child seat 20 thereto (generally, the fixed vehicle seat identification of frame 212). In this way, the ECU 70 is configured to activate the child seat latch system so that the base latch unit 44 and the back latch unit 52 can receive and secure the portable child seat 20 to the fixed vehicle seat 40.
[0081] Fig.12 The method further includes aligning the portable child seat 20 with the fixed vehicle seat 40 by generating the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59 in frame 318, so that the portable child seat 20 is engaged with the fixed vehicle seat 40 when the first magnet and the second magnet are located within a third distance defining the alignment position (generally, the portable child seat is fixed in frame 214). The ECU 70 communicates with the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58, and controls the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 to align the portable child seat 20 with the vehicle seat. That is, the ECU 70 activates the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 to generate respective magnetic fields, such as N-pole magnetic field and S-pole magnetic field, so as to attract the portable child seat 20 to the alignment position of the fixed vehicle seat 40. In this embodiment, the second magnetic unit 58 is configured to have a distance sensor 66 to monitor the position of the portable child seat 20 relative to the fixed vehicle seat 40, so as to maintain the alignment position. In an example, the first magnetic unit 58 is configured to monitor the base portion 22 relative to the receiving portion 42, and is configured to monitor the backrest portion 26 relative to the support portion 50. In operation, when the portable child seat 20 is within a third distance from the fixed vehicle seat 40, the distance sensor 66 may send a confirmation signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the aligned position has been reached. In the event that the aligned position has changed, the first magnetic unit 58 may send a warning signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the portable child seat 20 may need to be repositioned relative to the fixed vehicle seat 40. In this example, the ECU 70 may be configured to notify / warn the driver or occupant in the vehicle via the cabin display unit 72. Other suitable options may be available to the driver / occupant without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.
[0082] exist Fig.12In the method, the method further includes, in box 320, sensing the base rod 24 relative to the base connector 46 when the portable child seat 20 is aligned with the vehicle seat to insert the base rod 24 therein. In the above embodiment, the base sensor 47 is configured to sense the base rod 24 relative to the base connector 46 when the base rod 24 is inserted into the base connector 46. The ECU 70 communicates with the base sensor 47 and the base latch unit 44 to lock the base rod 24 in the base connector 46 when the base rod 24 is inserted therein at a first distance.
[0083] refer to Fig.12 , the method further includes, in frame 322, locking the base rod 24 in the base connector 46 to secure the base portion 22 to the receiving portion 42 defining the locked base position when the base rod 24 is sensed at the first distance (typically in frame 216, the portable child seat is locked and locked monitoring). That is, when the base rod 24 is sensed at the first distance, the base latch unit 44 locks the base rod 24 in the base connector 46 to secure the base portion 22 on the receiving portion 42 defining the locked base position. Therefore, when the base rod 24 is inserted into the base connector 46, the base sensor 47 is configured to sense the base rod 24 at the first distance from the base rod 24, thereby activating the base latch unit 44 to lock the base rod 24 therein. In operation, when the base sensor 47 senses the base rod 24 in the base connector 46 at or within its first distance, the base sensor 47 may send a lock signal to the ECU 70. In turn, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the base latch unit 44 to lock the base rod 24 within the base connector 46, thereby securing the base portion 22 to the receiving portion 42 in the locked base position.
[0084] Replay Fig.12 The method further includes, in frame 324, sensing the backrest rod 28 relative to the backrest connector 54 to insert the backrest rod 28 therein when the portable child seat 20 is aligned with the vehicle seat. In the above-described embodiment, the backrest sensor 55 is configured to sense the backrest rod 28 relative to the backrest connector 54 when the backrest rod 28 is inserted into the backrest connector 54. The ECU 70 communicates with the backrest sensor 55 and the backrest latch unit 52 so as to lock the backrest rod 28 in the backrest connector 54 when the backrest rod 28 is inserted therein at a second distance.
[0085] refer to Fig.12, the method further includes, in box 326, locking the back rod 28 in the back connector 54 to fix the back portion 26 to the support portion 50 defining a locked back position when the back rod 28 is sensed to be at a second distance in the back connector 54. That is, when the back rod 28 is sensed at the second distance, the back latch unit 52 locks the back rod 28 in the back connector 54 to fix the back portion 26 to the support portion 50 defining a locked back position. Therefore, when the back rod 28 is inserted into the back connector 54, the back sensor 55 is configured to sense the back rod 28 at the second distance from the back rod 28, thereby activating the back latch unit 52 to lock the back rod 28 therein. In operation, when the back sensor 55 senses the back rod 28 in the back connector 54 at or within its second distance, the back sensor 55 may send a locking signal to the ECU 70. In turn, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the back latch unit 52 to lock the back rod 28 within the back connector 54, thereby securing the back portion 26 to the support portion 50 in the locked back position.
[0086] The method also includes monitoring the position of the portable child seat 20 relative to the fixed vehicle seat 40 in box 328 to maintain the aligned position, the locked base position, and the locked backrest position. In one example, the base sensor 47 is configured to monitor the locked base position. That is, by sensing that the base rod 24 is within its first distance, the base sensor 47 is able to monitor the locked base position between the base portion 22 and the receiving portion 42. In this example, when the base rod 24 is within the first distance of the base sensor 47, the base sensor 47 can send a confirmation signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the locked base position has been reached and / or is being maintained. Other suitable options are available to the driver / occupant without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.
[0087] In addition, the backrest sensor 55 is configured to monitor the locked backrest position. That is, by sensing that the backrest rod 28 is within its second distance, the backrest sensor 55 can monitor the locked backrest position between the backrest portion 26 and the support portion 50. In this example, when the backrest rod 28 is within the second distance from the backrest sensor 55, the backrest sensor 55 can send a confirmation signal to the ECU 70 indicating that the locked backrest position has been reached and / or is being maintained.
[0088] Fig.12 The method is described to further include, in box 330, when the determination of deactivation of the child seat latch assembly is completed, releasing the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59. In the present embodiment, the ECU 70 is configured to release the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59 upon receiving a request to deactivate the child seat latch assembly. That is, after reaching the destination of the trip, the ECU 70 sends an end signal to the first unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 to release the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59.
[0089] The method further includes, in frame 332, unlocking the base rod 24 from the base connector 46 and the backrest rod 28 from the backrest connector 54 so as to separate the portable child seat 20 from the fixed vehicle seat 40 after the first magnetic field 32 and the second magnetic field 59 are released (generally, the portable child seat is unlocked and unlocked monitoring in frame 218). In this example, once the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 are released, the ECU 70 is configured to unlock the base rod 24 from the base connector 46 and the backrest rod 28 from the backrest connector 54 so as to separate the portable child seat 20 from the fixed vehicle seat 40. That is, after the first magnetic unit 30 and the second magnetic unit 58 are released, the ECU 70 sends a signal to the base latch unit 44 and the backrest latch unit 56 to respectively unlock the base lock 48 and the backrest lock 56. In turn, the base rod 24 is unlocked from the base connector 46 and the backrest rod 28 is unlocked from the backrest connector 54. After unlocking the base rod 24 and the backrest rod 28, the ECU 70 determines that the child seat latch assembly has been deactivated. It should be understood that unlocking and demagnetization can be triggered when the vehicle reaches the vehicle destination, the vehicle is powered off, or the vehicle is in a parked position.
