Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for producing sparkling water, and more particularly to a device for producing sparkling water as described in the preamble of independent claim 1. Background Art

[0002] Typical sparkling water making devices are only suitable for plastic water containers because there is no way to prevent the water container from breaking during the carbonation process.

[0003] The prior art also teaches a sparkling water making device suitable for a glass water container. Publication EP 1793917B1 discloses a device for carbonating a liquid in a container by pressurized gas, comprising a receiving bottle for the container and a filling head for adding gas to the liquid in the container. The receiving bottle and the filling head are movable relative to each other between an insertion position and a carbonation position. In the insertion position, the filling head is spaced apart from the receiving bottle in a vertical direction. In the carbonation position, the receiving bottle and the filling head are in contact with each other, thereby forming a substantially closed cavity.

[0004] One problem associated with the prior art is that the vertical movement of the filling head requires space to operate the device, which must be taken into account when placing the device. Another problem associated with the prior art is that the movement of the filling head makes the device unstable, making it difficult or even impossible to operate the device with one hand. Summary of the invention

[0005] The object of the present invention is to provide a device for making sparkling water which overcomes the problems of the prior art caused by the space requirement of the device. Another object of the present invention is to provide a device for making sparkling water which is stable and can be operated with one hand.

[0006] The objects of the invention are achieved by a device for producing sparkling water as characterized by what is stated in the independent claim. The dependent claims disclose preferred embodiments of the invention.

[0007] The invention is based on the idea of providing a water container with a container chamber connected to a sparkling water making device, the container chamber always remaining in place and protecting the water container, so that a glass container can be used in a sparkling water device.

[0008] The present invention is also based on the idea of providing a mechanical sparkling water making device that is operable without any electrical or electric components or any power source for providing electric current to the sparkling water making device. The sparkling water making device of the present invention is a completely mechanical device having only mechanical components for operating the sparkling water making device.

[0009] In the present application, a water container refers to a water bottle or similar water pitcher having an orifice through which water can be poured out of the water container (e.g., into a glass). The most preferred example of a water container is a water bottle, and the sparkling water making device of the present invention is particularly suitable for carbonating water in a water bottle made of glass.

[0010] The present invention discloses a sparkling water manufacturing device for carbonating water in a water container by pressurized gas, comprising a main body having a bottom, a top and a main body structure extending between the bottom and the top. The main body comprises a container chamber for a water container, a carbonation head for connecting the water container to the sparkling water manufacturing device and carbonating the water in the water container, and a sliding door. The container chamber has an opening, and the water container is placed in the container chamber through the opening. The carbonation head is connected to the container chamber, and the sliding door is connected to the opening. The sliding door is arranged to slide in a horizontal direction between an open position and a closed position, in which the container chamber is accessible from outside the container chamber through the opening, and in which the opening is closed by the sliding door to provide a closed container chamber.

[0011] In other words, the body has a container chamber, and the water container is inserted into the container chamber through an opening in the container chamber. The sliding door is configured to close the opening of the container chamber for providing a closed container chamber so that water in the glass water container can be carbonated, and the sliding door is configured to open the opening of the container chamber for placing the water container into the container chamber and taking the water container out of the container chamber.

[0012] The sliding door is configured to slide in a horizontal direction so that the sparkling water making device maintains the same position in a vertical direction regardless of the device's usage state. The sliding door connected to the container chamber is configured to close the container chamber, thereby enclosing the water container in the container chamber during the carbonation process of water, so that in the event that the glass of the water container breaks, the fragments will not go out of the container chamber.

[0013] The bubble water manufacturing device of the present invention comprises a horizontally movable sliding door, which is horizontally movable from an open position to a closed position, and horizontally movable from a closed position to an open position. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sliding door is arranged to move along a circular trajectory path in the horizontal direction. This means that the trajectory path of the sliding door forms a circle or a part of a circle, so that the circular path has the same center point everywhere. This also means that the sliding door is a curved sliding door, and the center of curvature is the same as the center of curvature of the circular trajectory path. The curved sliding door moves along a circular trajectory in the horizontal direction between the open position and the closed position.

[0014] The carbonation head is configured to form an interlocking connection with the water container so that the water container is connected to the sparkling water making device through the carbonation head and is securely held in place during the carbonation process.

[0015] According to the invention, in the closed position, the sliding door is arranged to cover the opening of the container chamber, and in the open position, the sliding door is arranged beside the opening of the container chamber.

[0016] In other words, when the opening of the container chamber is open so that the water container can be inserted into or removed from the container chamber, the sliding door is away from the opening, i.e., the sliding door does not cover the opening. Only when the sliding door does not cover the opening can the container chamber be entered. When the sliding door is set to cover the opening, the container chamber is closed and the interior cannot be entered from the outside of the container chamber.

[0017] According to the present invention, the container chamber is arranged to be connected to the main body structure between the bottom and the top of the main body.

[0018] In other words, the container chamber is directly or indirectly connected to the main structure. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the container chamber is arranged in the main structure.

[0019] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the sliding door is arranged to move outside the body or along an outer surface of the body between an open position and a closed position.

[0020] In other words, the sliding door covering the opening of the container chamber is arranged to move between an open position and a closed position outside the container chamber.

[0021] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the sliding door is arranged to move between an open position and a closed position within the body. Alternatively, the sliding door is arranged to move between an open position and a closed position within the container chamber. Alternatively, the sliding door is arranged to move between an open position and a closed position between the container chamber and the body.

[0022] In other words, when the container chamber is disposed within the body or within the body structure, the sliding door is configured to move within the body, or the sliding door is configured to move within the container chamber or at a location between the container chamber and the body. In these embodiments, the sliding door is configured to move within at least the outermost surface of the sparkling water making device. This minimizes the space required for the device to be used.

[0023] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the sliding door is arranged to move along a curved direction of movement. In other words, the sliding door is arranged to move along a curved path between an open position and a closed position. The curved path of movement of the sliding door is particularly advantageous because the sliding door does not take up additional space on the side of the device, or the device does not have to be made larger in the width direction due to the sliding door. The sliding door can then be moved along the curved path from the closed position of the opening to the open position of the opening by rotating the device or the container chamber relative to the opposite wall of the opening according to the curved path, or even rotating at least partially along the opposite wall of the opening. This is particularly advantageous when the container chamber has a cylindrical or other curved form.

[0024] According to the invention, the sliding door is manually movable between an open position and a closed position.

[0025] In other words, the sliding door can preferably be pushed and pulled between an open position and a closed position.

[0026] According to the present invention, the bubble water manufacturing device includes a door operating mechanism connected to the sliding door, and the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door between an open position and a closed position, so that the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door from the open position to the closed position. Alternatively, the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door between an open position and a closed position, so that the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door from the closed position to the open position. Alternatively, the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door between an open position and a closed position, so that the door operating mechanism is configured to move the sliding door from the closed position to the open position and from the open position to the closed position.

[0027] In a most preferred embodiment of the present invention, the door operating mechanism is arranged to move the sliding door from a closed position to an open position and is manually moved from the open position to the closed position by a user pulling the sliding door to the closed position.

[0028] In other words, when the sliding door is operated by the door operating mechanism, the door operating mechanism may only move the sliding door to the closed position, and then the sliding door may be manually pushed by hand to provide an open position so that the opening of the container chamber is open and accessible. Alternatively, the sliding door may be manually pulled to the closed position by hand, and then the door operating mechanism may move the sliding door to the open position. Alternatively, the door opening mechanism may be arranged to move the sliding door to the closed position and the open position so that the container chamber does not need to be opened or closed manually by hand. In this case, manually means pushing or pulling the sliding door by hand to move the sliding door between the open position and the closed position. The closed position means that the opening of the container chamber is closed by the sliding door, and the open position means that the container chamber is open and accessible through the opening.

[0029] According to the present invention, the bubble water making device includes a first switch configured to operate a door operating mechanism for moving the sliding door.

[0030] In other words, the door operating mechanism is operated by the first switch, and when the sliding door is operated by the door operating mechanism, the first switch is configured to operate the sliding door to close the container chamber by moving the sliding door to cover the opening of the container chamber, or to open the container chamber by moving the sliding door away from the opening of the container chamber, or both.

[0031] The first switch for operating the sliding door is a mechanical switch that is mechanically connected to the sliding door for operating the sliding door.

[0032] The sliding door operating mechanism comprises a spring connected to the sliding door, whereby the spring is released to a free position and the sliding door opens. The free position of the spring refers to a position in which the spring is not compressed. Alternatively or additionally, the sliding door operating mechanism may comprise a magnetic connection, wherein by releasing the magnetic connection the sliding door moves to the open position. Alternatively, the spring may be a gas spring. The spring connection has a spring as a pre-compression member, which is arranged to be pre-compressed when the sliding door is in the closed position. This means that the spring is compressed when the sliding door is in the closed position. The spring, i.e. the pre-compression member, is arranged to move the sliding door to the open position when the sliding door is released from the closed position.

[0033] The door operating mechanism also includes a release member that releases the sliding door to move from the closed position to the open position. The release member is preferably a hook or a latch that holds the sliding door in the closed position when the spring is compressed, and when the sliding door is released by moving the release member out of contact with the sliding door, the tension of the spring is released and the door moves from the closed position to the open position.

[0034] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the door operating mechanism or the sliding door itself comprises a reverse buffer which slows down the movement of the sliding door so that the sliding door moves gently into the open position, the open position being a position in which the container chamber is accessible from outside the container chamber through the opening.

[0035] In a most preferred embodiment of the present invention, the curved sliding door is arranged to be horizontally moved from a closed position to an open position along a curved path by operating a first switch, the first switch being mechanically connected to a mechanical door operating mechanism. The operation of the door operating mechanism opens the opening of the container chamber by gently moving the curved sliding door from the closed position to the open position along the curved trajectory path. The gentle movement of the curved sliding door is provided by a reverse buffer, which particularly slows down the end part of the movement when the sliding door approaches the fully open position. This means that when the sliding door moves from the closed position to the open position, the movement of the sliding door along the curved path is slowed down at the end of the movement.

[0036] According to the present invention, the sparkling water manufacturing device includes a carbonation mechanism connected to a carbonation head, the carbonation mechanism being configured to supply carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide gas cylinder to a water container through the carbonation head for carbonating water in the water container by pressurized gas.

[0037] In other words, when the sparkling water making device is ready for use, the sparkling water making device includes a carbon dioxide cartridge placed in the sparkling water making device and operated by a carbonation mechanism to supply carbon dioxide to the water in the water container. The carbon dioxide cartridge includes a valve, and the carbonation mechanism is configured to operate the valve by an actuator. When the actuator opens the valve, carbon dioxide is supplied from the carbon dioxide cartridge through the carbonation head to the water in the water container. The valve is typically a needle valve that is pressed by the actuator to provide carbon dioxide to flow from the carbon dioxide cartridge.

[0038] According to the present invention, the sparkling water making device includes a second switch configured to operate a carbonation mechanism for supplying carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide gas cartridge through a carbonation head for carbonating water in the water container.

[0039] In other words, the carbonation mechanism is operated by the second switch such that use of the second switch causes a flow of carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide cartridge through the carbonation head into the water in the water container.

[0040] According to the present invention, the first switch and the second switch together form a common switch.

[0041] In other words, the first switch and the second switch can be arranged in a common switch so that the door operating mechanism is activated by activating a part of the common switch or moving the common switch to the first position, and the carbonation mechanism is activated by activating another part of the common switch or moving the common switch to the second position.

[0042] According to the present invention, the common switch has a first operating position and a second operating position, the first operating position is set to operate the door operating mechanism, and the second operating position is set to operate the carbonation mechanism. Alternatively, the common switch has a first operating position and a second operating position, the first operating position is set to operate the door operating mechanism, and the second operating position is set to operate the carbonation mechanism, and the common switch is a rocker switch.

[0043] In other words, a rocker switch provides a method of initiating two different operations by pressing either side of the rocker switch.

[0044] According to the present invention, the common switch is arranged on the top of the main body. Alternatively, the common switch is arranged on at least a part of the top surface of the bubble water making device.

[0045] The common switch may constitute the top surface or a portion of the top surface of the sparkling water device, such that the common switch is hidden as a portion of the main body of the sparkling water device, and the door opening mechanism or the carbonation mechanism is activated by pressing the upper surface or a portion of the upper surface.

[0046] According to the present invention, the sparkling water manufacturing device includes a safety mechanism that prevents carbonation when the sliding door is in an open position so that the opening of the container chamber is open and accessible from outside the container chamber. In other words, the safety mechanism allows carbonation only when the sliding door is in a closed position so that the container chamber is closed and cannot be accessed from outside the container chamber. The safety mechanism is connected to the second switch that operates the carbonation mechanism, or is also connected to the first switch that operates the door operating mechanism, to detect the position of the sliding door.

[0047] In other words, the safety mechanism is configured to detect the position of the sliding door, and when the sliding door is in the open position, the safety mechanism is configured to prevent carbonation, whereby the carbonation mechanism is inoperative. When the sliding door is in the closed position, the safety mechanism is configured to allow carbonation, whereby the carbonation mechanism is operable.

[0048] According to the invention, the main structure comprises a housing of the sparkling water device, and the container chamber is arranged in the housing such that in the closed position the sliding door forms part of the housing of the sparkling water device.

[0049] In other words, the sliding door may form part of a housing of the sparkling water device such that when the sliding door is in an open position, the housing provides access to the containment chamber.

[0050] According to the invention, the housing has a housing opening, the sliding door is arranged to cover the housing opening and the opening of the container chamber in the closed position, and the housing opening and the opening of the container chamber are both open in the open position.

[0051] According to the present invention, the bubble water manufacturing device comprises a main body having a cylindrical shape, so that the container chamber is arranged in the main body. In other words, the main body has an outer surface, the outer surface constitutes a cylindrical shell of the bubble water manufacturing device, and the container chamber is arranged in the cylindrical shell. The opening of the container chamber is provided by the cylindrical shell, and the sliding door is arranged to move in the cylindrical shell. In addition, the cylindrical chamber is arranged in the cylindrical shell. The first switch and / or the second switch or the common switch is connected to the top surface of the cylindrical body of the bubble water manufacturing device. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the separate or shared switches constitute the top surface of the cylindrical body of the bubble water manufacturing device. The sliding door is curved and is arranged to move between an open position and a closed position along a curved path in the cylindrical shell of the bubble water manufacturing device body.

[0052] One advantage of the present invention is that during the carbonation process, the container chamber can be closed to keep the glass water container in the container chamber without the risk of glass fragments being spread into the environment after the glass water container breaks. Nevertheless, the sparkling water making device can be kept as compact as possible without providing additional space for the openable container chamber in any direction, but the device remains normally accessible in all cases.
