[0028] Example embodiments will now be described more fully below with reference to the accompanying drawings; however, they may be implemented in different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey exemplary implementations to those skilled in the art.

[0029] In the accompanying drawings, the sizes of layers and regions may be exaggerated for clarity of illustration. It will also be understood that if a layer or element is referred to as being "on" another layer or substrate, it can be directly on the other layer or substrate, or there may be intervening layers. In addition, it will be understood that if a layer is referred to as being "below" another layer, it can be directly below, and there may also be one or more intervening layers. In addition, it will be understood that if a layer is referred to as being "between" two layers, it can be the only layer between the two layers, or there may also be one or more intervening layers. The same reference numerals refer to the same elements throughout.

[0030] The present embodiment may have different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the description set forth herein. Therefore, the following may only describe embodiments to explain aspects of this specification with reference to the accompanying drawings. As used herein, the term "and / or" includes any and all combinations of one or more associated listed items. A statement such as "at least one of...", if preceding a list of elements, modifies the entire list of elements, rather than the individual elements in the list.

[0031] The embodiments can be understood with reference to the description and drawings of the present disclosure. The described embodiments have various modifications, can be implemented in other forms, and are not limited to the embodiments described in the specification. In addition, some or all of the features of each embodiment in the various embodiments can be combined with each other. The embodiments can be implemented independently of each other, or can be implemented in combination with each other. The described embodiments are provided as examples to enable the present disclosure to be thorough and complete, and are intended to fully convey the spirit of the present disclosure to those of ordinary skill in the field to which the present disclosure belongs. The present disclosure can be replaced in all modifications, equivalents, and spirit and scope of the present disclosure. Therefore, processes, elements, and techniques that are not required by those of ordinary skill in the art for a complete understanding of the embodiments may not be described.

[0032] Unless otherwise stated throughout the drawings and description, the same reference numerals, characters, or combinations thereof refer to the same components, and thus the same description thereof is omitted. In addition, in order to clearly describe the present disclosure, parts irrelevant to the description are omitted.

[0033] For the sake of clarity, the relative sizes of elements, layers, and regions in the drawings may be exaggerated. The use of shading and / or shadows in the drawings is generally provided to clarify the boundaries between adjacent elements. Therefore, unless specified, the presence or absence of shading or shadows does not indicate a desired form or requirement for certain materials, material properties, dimensions, ratios, commonalities between pictorial elements, and / or other characteristics, attributes, etc. of the elements.

[0034] Various embodiments are described herein with reference to embodiments and / or cross-sectional examples, which are schematic examples of intermediate structures. Therefore, the shape of the drawings may vary, for example, due to manufacturing techniques and / or tolerances. In addition, the detailed structural or functional descriptions provided herein are merely examples of embodiments for describing the concepts according to the present disclosure. Therefore, the embodiments provided herein should not be interpreted as being limited to the shapes of the regions shown, and include, for example, shape changes according to manufacturing.

[0035] The regions shown in the drawings are schematic in nature, and their shapes are not intended to illustrate the actual shape of a region of a device and are not intended to limit the actual shape. In addition, as those skilled in the art will appreciate, the described embodiments may be modified in various ways without departing from the spirit or scope of the present disclosure.

[0036] Many specific details are presented here to provide a comprehensive understanding of various embodiments. However, various embodiments can be implemented without these specific details or including one or more details. In other cases, well-known structures and devices are shown in the form of block diagrams to avoid unnecessary obscurity of various embodiments.

[0037] As shown in the accompanying drawings, spatial relationship terms (such as "below ... ", "above ... ", "down" and "up") can be used to easily describe the relationship between one element or feature and another element or feature. In addition to the directions shown in the drawings, spatial relationship terms are intended to include various directions of the device in use or operation. For example, if the device in the drawings is turned over, another element or feature described as "below" or "down" points to the "above" of another element or feature. Therefore, the example terms "below ... " and "down" can include both upper and lower directions. The device can point to different directions (for example, rotated by 90 ° or in different directions), and the spatial relationship descriptors used here should be interpreted accordingly. Similarly, if the first part is referred to as being arranged "above" the second part, this means that the first part is arranged above or below the second part.

[0038] In addition, the expression "observed from a plane" means the situation of observing an object from above, and the expression "in a schematic cross-sectional view" means the situation of vertically cutting an object and taking it as a schematic cross-section. The term "observed from the side" means that the first object can be above, below or on the side surface of the second object, and the opposite situation may be possible. In addition, the term "overlapping" may include layers, stacks, surfaces, extensions, covering or partially covering, or any other suitable terms that can be understood and appreciated by ordinary technicians in this field. The expression "non-overlapping" may include meanings such as "separated" or "spaced apart" and any other suitable equivalents recognized and understood by ordinary technicians in this field. The terms "facing" and "surface" may mean that the first object may directly or indirectly face the second object. If there is a third object between the first object and the second object, it will be understood that the first object and the second object face each other, but are indirectly opposite to each other.

[0039] It will be understood that if an element, layer, region, or component is referred to as being "formed on," "on," "connected to," or "(operably or communicatively) coupled to" another element, layer, region, or component, it may be directly formed on, directly on, directly connected to, or coupled to, or indirectly formed on, indirectly on, indirectly connected to, or coupled to, such that one or more intervening elements, layers, regions, or components may be present. Furthermore, the terms "formed," "connected," or "coupled to" may collectively refer to direct or indirect coupling or connection of elements, layers, regions, or components, as well as integral or non-integrated coupling or connection, such that one or more elements, layers, regions, or components may be present. For example, if an element, layer, region or component is referred to as being "electrically connected" or "electrically coupled" to another element, layer, region or component, it may be directly electrically connected or coupled to another element, layer, region or component, or there may be another element, layer, region or component. However, "direct connection" or "direct coupling" means that a component is directly connected to another component or is directly coupled to another component or is on another component without an intermediate component. In addition, as used herein, if a portion of a layer, film, region, guide plate, etc. is formed on another part, the formation direction is not limited to the upward direction, but the portion is formed on the side surface of the other part or below the other part. On the contrary, if a portion of a layer, film, region, guide plate, etc. is formed "below" another part, the portion is "just below" another part, and there is an intermediate portion between the portion and the other part. At the same time, other expressions describing the relationship between components, such as "between...", "directly between...", or "adjacent to..." and "directly adjacent to...", can be similarly interpreted. In addition, if an element or layer is referred to as being "between" two elements or layers, it can be the only element between the two elements or layers, or additional elements may be present between them.

[0040] For descriptive purposes, expressions such as "at least one" or "any one" do not limit the order of the individual elements. For example, "at least one of X, Y, and Z," "at least one of X, Y, or Z," and "at least one selected from the group consisting of X, Y, and Z" may include any combination of only X, only Y, only Z, and two or more of X, Y, and Z. Similarly, expressions such as "at least one of A and B" and "at least one of A or B" may include A, B, or A and B. As used herein, the term "and / or" generally includes all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items. For example, expressions such as "A and / or B" may include A, B, or A and B.

[0041] The terms "first", "second", "third", etc. can be used here to describe various elements, components, regions, layers and / or cross-sections, but these elements, components, regions, layers and / or cross-sections are not limited by these terms. These terms are used to distinguish an element, component, region, layer or cross-section from another element, component, region, layer or cross-section. Therefore, without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure, the first element, component, region, layer or cross-section described below can be referred to as the second element, component, region, layer or cross-section. Describing an element as a "first" element may not require or imply the presence of a second element or another element. The terms "first", "second", etc. can be used here to distinguish between elements of different categories or groups. In order to express clearly, the terms "first", "second", etc. can refer to "first class (or first group)", "second class (or second group)", etc. respectively.

[0042] The terms used herein are only used to describe specific embodiments and are not intended to limit the present disclosure. As used herein, singular expressions are intended to include plural expressions, and plural expressions are also intended to include singular forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The terms "comprises," "includes," and "having" indicate the presence of specified features, integers, and steps (if used herein). These statements do not exclude the presence or addition of one or more other functions, steps, operations, components, and / or groups thereof.

[0043] If one or more embodiments can be implemented differently, a specific process order may be performed differently from the described order. For example, two processes described in succession may be performed substantially simultaneously or in an order opposite to the described order.

[0044] The terms "substantially," "about," "approximately," and similar terms are not used as terms of degree, but rather as terms of approximation, and indicate that these terms satisfy the inherent range of variation of the measured or calculated value (e.g., the range of variation due to the limitations of the measurement system). For example, "about" can mean within one or more standard deviations or within ±30%, 20%, 10%, and 5% of the stated value.

[0045] Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical or scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as those commonly understood by ordinary technicians in the field to which the present disclosure belongs. Terms (such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries) should be interpreted as having a meaning consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant field and will not be interpreted as an idealized or overly formal meaning unless explicitly defined as such herein.

[0046] Figure 1 A perspective view showing a battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments, Figure 2 An exploded perspective view showing a battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments, Figure 3 shows a rear surface of a battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments, Figure 4 shows an upper surface of the battery pack 10 from which the second tape TP2 is removed according to one or more embodiments, Figures 5 to 8 shows an assembled state of a battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments, Fig. 9 1 shows a cross section of a battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments. For example, Fig. 9 Shown along Figure 1 A cross section taken along line IX-IX'. Fig.10 1 shows a state in which a portion of the protection circuit module 200 is on the battery cell 100 according to one or more embodiments, Fig.11 Another cross section of the battery pack 10 according to one or more embodiments is shown. For example, Fig.11 A cross section of the battery pack 10 taken parallel to the YZ plane is shown.

[0047] The battery pack 10 may be a pouch type battery and may include a battery cell 100 and a protection circuit module 200. For example, Figure 1 As shown, the battery pack 10 may have a front surface and a rear surface that are flat (eg, parallel to Figure 1 At least a portion of the battery pack 10 may have a curved shape. For example, the two side surfaces of the battery pack 10 (e.g., Figure 1 The battery pack 10 may have a curved shape in the thickness direction (eg, Figure 1The dimension of the battery pack 10 in the X-axis direction (eg, Figure 1 The size in the Y-axis direction.

[0048] The battery pack 10 may include a battery cell 100 and a protection circuit module 200 connected to the battery cell 100 and including a substrate 210 (see, for example, Figure 4 ), the battery cell 100 may include an electrode assembly 110 (see, for example Figure 5 ) and a shell 140 surrounding the electrode assembly 110, the shell 140 may include: a platform portion 1451 corresponding to the short side portion of the battery cell 100; a pair of side sealing portions 1452 respectively connected to both ends of the platform portion 1451 and corresponding to a pair of long side portions of the battery cell 100; and a pair of corner portions 1453 (see, for example Figure 4 ), the pair of corner portions 1453 are at the connecting portion between the pair of side sealing portions 1452 and the platform portion 1451 when the pair of side sealing portions 1452 and the platform portion 1451 are each folded and the connecting portion between the platform portion 1451 and the pair of side sealing portions 1452 is not folded or cut, and the substrate 210 can be between the pair of corner portions 1453.

[0049] The battery pack 10 may include one or more bands for supporting and protecting the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200. The band may be attached to at least one of the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200. For example, the band may be on the outer surface of the battery cell 100, between the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200, or inside the protection circuit module 200. The band may be a component distinguished from the insulating band 130 of the battery cell 100, although they may include insulating and / or flame retardant materials.

[0050] The battery cell 100 may include an electrode assembly 110 , an electrode tab 120 , an insulating tape 130 , and a case 140 .

[0051] The electrode assembly 110 may include a first electrode plate 111 and a second electrode plate 112 having opposite polarities and a separator 113 between the first electrode plate 111 and the second electrode plate 112. The electrode assembly 110 may be a roll type formed by rolling up the first electrode plate 111, the second electrode plate 112, and the separator 113. In some embodiments, the electrode assembly 110 may have a longitudinal direction (e.g., Figure 5In some other embodiments, the electrode assembly 110 may be formed by stacking a plurality of first electrode plates 111, a plurality of second electrode plates 112, and a plurality of separators 113. In some further embodiments, the electrode assembly 110 may be a hybrid of a rolled-up type and a stacked type. In one or more embodiments, the first electrode plate 111 may be a negative electrode, and the second electrode plate 112 may be a positive electrode. In one or more other embodiments, the first electrode plate 111 may be a positive electrode, and the second electrode plate 112 may be a negative electrode.

[0052] The first electrode plate 111 may be formed by applying a first electrode active material such as graphite or carbon to a first electrode current collector plate formed of a metal foil such as copper, copper alloy, nickel or nickel alloy. The first electrode plate 111 may include a first uncoated portion, which is an area where the first electrode active material is not applied, and at least a portion of the first uncoated portion may include a first electrode tab 121. The first electrode tab 121 may be used as a current path between the first electrode plate 111 and the first current collector. In some embodiments, the first electrode tab 121 may be formed by pre-cutting the first electrode plate 111 when manufacturing the first electrode plate 111, so that at least a portion of the first electrode tab 121 protrudes to the outside of the electrode assembly 110. In other embodiments, in the absence of a separate cutting process, the first electrode tab 121 may protrude further to the outside of the electrode assembly 110 than the separator 113.

[0053] The second electrode plate 112 may be formed by applying a second electrode active material such as a transition metal oxide to a second electrode collector plate formed of a metal foil such as aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The second electrode plate 112 may include a second uncoated portion, which is an area where the second electrode active material is not applied, and at least a portion of the second uncoated portion may include a second electrode tab 122. The second electrode tab 122 may be used as a path for current between the second electrode plate 112 and the second current collector. In some embodiments, the second electrode tab 122 may be formed by pre-cutting the second electrode plate 112 when manufacturing the second electrode plate 112, so that at least a portion of the second electrode tab 122 protrudes to the outside of the electrode assembly 110. In other embodiments, in the absence of a separate cutting process, the second electrode tab 122 may protrude further to the outside of the electrode assembly 110 than the separator 113.

[0054] The electrode assembly 110 may be surrounded by a housing 140. For example, Figure 5As shown, the electrode assembly 110 may have a smaller size than the case 140 and may be accommodated in the case 140. If the electrode assembly 110 is accommodated in the case 140, the electrode tab 120 connected to the electrode assembly 110 may protrude to the outside of the case 140 to be connected to the protection circuit module 200.

[0055] The electrode tab 120 may be connected to the electrode assembly 110. The electrode tab 120 may extend from the electrode assembly 110. When the case 140 is combined (eg, when the first case 141 and the second case 142 are in contact with each other), the electrode tab 120 may be drawn out from the platform portion 1451 of the case 140. For example, Figure 5 As shown, the electrode terminal tab 120 may include a first electrode terminal tab 121 and a second electrode terminal tab 122 having different polarities, and the first electrode terminal tab 121 and the second electrode terminal tab 122 may be electrically connected to the first electrode plate 111 and the second electrode plate 112, respectively. In addition, the electrode terminal tab 120 may be connected to the substrate terminal tab 220 (see, for example Figure 4 ). For example, the first electrode tab 121 may be connected to the first substrate tab 221 (see, for example Figure 8 ), the second electrode terminal tab 122 may be connected to the second substrate terminal tab 222 (see, for example Figure 8 ). The electrode tab 120 may be connected to the substrate tab 220 by, for example, welding, bolting, etc. The electrode tab 120 may include a conductive material such as a metal. The first electrode tab 121 and the second electrode tab 122 may be spaced apart from each other, and the first current collector and the second current collector may be welded and connected to the first electrode tab 121 and the second electrode tab 122, respectively.

[0056] The insulating tape 130 may be attached to the electrode tab 120 to provide insulation and sealing between the electrode tab 120 and the case 140. Figure 5 As shown, the insulating tape 130 may surround at least a portion of the electrode tab 120. The insulating tape 130 may be in contact with the electrode assembly 110 or may be adjacent to the electrode assembly 110. For example, Fig. 9 As shown, the insulating strip 130 may be external to the platform portion 1451 .

[0057] The electrode tab 120 may be bent one or more times. When connected to the substrate tab 220 of the protection circuit module 200, the electrode tab 120 may not be bent in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100 (eg, in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100). Figure 1 The Z-axis direction of the axial ... Figure 5 and Figure 8As shown in FIG. 1 , the electrode tab 120 may initially extend straight in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100 and then may extend in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100 (eg, in Figure 8 The platform portion 1451 may be bent in the same direction as the electrode tab 120. When the electrode tab 120 is bent, the fourth band TP4 and the protection circuit module 200 may be sequentially on the electrode tab 120. In addition, the electrode tab 120 may be bent again toward the substrate tab 220 in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100. In some embodiments, the electrode tab 120 may include a plurality of bent portions, and at least a portion of the protection circuit module 200 (such as the substrate 210) may be between the plurality of bent portions. The electrode tab 120 may include a bent portion, and therefore, the total length of the battery cell 100 and the battery pack 10 may be reduced.

[0058] like Fig. 9 As shown, for example, the electrode tab 120 may include an electrode extending portion 1201 , a first electrode bent portion 1202 , a second electrode bent portion 1203 , and a third electrode bent portion 1204 .

[0059] The electrode terminal tab 120 may include: an electrode extension portion 1201, which extends from the electrode assembly 110 in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100 and may be within the platform portion 1451; a first electrode bent portion 1202, which may be bent at an end of the electrode extension portion 1201 and a portion of which is within the platform portion 1451; a second electrode bent portion 1203, which may be bent at an end of the first electrode bent portion 1202; and a third electrode bent portion 1204, which may be bent at an end of the second electrode bent portion 1203.

[0060] The electrode extension portion 1201 may be a portion where the electrode tab 120 begins to extend from the electrode assembly 110. Fig. 9 As shown, the electrode extension portion 1201 may extend from the electrode assembly 110, be inserted into the platform portion 1451, and extend in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100 (eg, in Fig. 9 The Z-axis direction of the

[0061] The first electrode bent portion 1202 may extend from an end of the electrode extending portion 1201 in a direction intersecting a direction in which the electrode extending portion 1201 extends. For example, the first electrode bent portion 1202 may be bent at an upper end of the electrode extending portion 1201 to extend in a thickness direction of the battery cell 100 (e.g., in a direction between 100 and 150). Fig. 91451). For example, the first electrode bent portion 1202 may extend perpendicular to the electrode extension portion 1201. The fourth band TP4 may be above the first electrode bent portion 1202. A portion of the first electrode bent portion 1202 may be within the platform portion 1451, and a portion of the first electrode bent portion 1202 may be surrounded by the insulating tape 130. Another portion of the first electrode bent portion 1202 may be exposed to the outside of the platform portion 1451 and the insulating tape 130. The first electrode bent portion 1202 may be spaced apart from the upper surface of the electrode assembly 110 by the length of the electrode extension portion 1201. The third band TP3 may be in the space between the first electrode bent portion 1202 and the electrode assembly 110.

[0062] The second electrode bent portion 1203 may extend from an end of the first electrode bent portion 1202 in a direction intersecting a direction in which the first electrode bent portion 1202 extends. For example, the second electrode bent portion 1203 may be located at an end of the first electrode bent portion 1202 (e.g., Fig. 9 ) and is bent in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100 (for example, in Fig. 9 For example, the second electrode bent portion 1203 may extend perpendicularly to the first electrode bent portion 1202. The length of the second electrode bent portion 1203 may be greater than the length of the electrode extending portion 1201. The fourth zone TP4 may be above the first electrode bent portion 1202.

[0063] The second electrode bent portion 1203 may be in the width direction of the battery pack 10 (eg, in Fig. 9 The second electrode bent portion 1203 may be spaced apart from each of the side surfaces of the substrate 210 and the second tape TP2, so that even if an external impact is applied, the substrate 210 and the second tape TP2 may not be interfered with. The second electrode bent portion 1203 may be disposed in the longitudinal direction of the battery pack 10 (e.g., in the X-axis direction). Fig. 9 The second electrode bent portion 1203 may be spaced apart from each of the upper surface of the battery cell 100 and the upper surface of the second tape TP2, and may not interfere with the battery cell 100 and the second tape TP2 even if an external impact is applied.

[0064] The third electrode bent portion 1204 may extend from the end of the second electrode bent portion 1203 in a direction intersecting the direction in which the second electrode bent portion 1203 extends. For example, the third electrode bent portion 1204 may be bent at the upper end of the second electrode bent portion 1203 to extend in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100. For example, the third electrode bent portion 1204 may extend perpendicularly to the second electrode bent portion 1203. The third electrode bent portion 1204 may be bent from the second electrode bent portion 1203 toward the side where the first electrode bent portion 1202 is located. At least a portion of the first electrode bent portion 1202 and at least a portion of the third electrode bent portion 1204 may overlap each other in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100. The third electrode bent portion 1204 may be above the substrate 210 of the protection circuit module 200.

[0065] The third electrode bent portion 1204 may be connected to the substrate tab 220. At least a portion of the third electrode bent portion 1204 may be inserted into the substrate tab 220 and may contact the substrate tab 220. For example, a portion of an upper surface of the third electrode bent portion 1204 may contact a lower surface of the second substrate bent portion 2203. Thus, the electrode tab 120 and the substrate tab 220 may be electrically connected to each other.

[0066] The first electrode curved portion 1202 and the third electrode curved portion 1204 may be spaced apart from each other, and the tape and at least a portion of the protection circuit module 200 may be therebetween. For example, the first electrode curved portion 1202 and the third electrode curved portion 1204 extend parallel to each other (e.g., in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100 or in the direction of the thickness of the battery cell 100). Fig. 9 In the X-axis direction of the substrate 210, the substrate 220 may be spaced apart from each other by the length of the second electrode bent portion 1203. In addition, the fourth tape TP4, the substrate 210, and a portion of the substrate tab 220 (e.g., the substrate extension portion 2201) may be between the first electrode bent portion 1202 and the third electrode bent portion 1204, which may be spaced apart from each other.

[0067] The electrode tab 120 may include one or more bent portions, and thus the size of the battery cell 100 and the battery pack 10 in the longitudinal direction may be reduced. In addition, the protection circuit module 200 and the tape may be in the space formed between the plurality of bent portions of the electrode tab 120, and thus the components of the battery pack 10 may be concentrated in a relatively small space.

[0068] Although only the first electrode tab 121 is shown in the drawings, the second electrode tab 122 may also have the same bending structure as the first electrode tab 121 and the same connection structure with the substrate tab 220 as the first electrode tab 121. In other words, the second electrode tab 122 may also include an electrode connecting portion 1201, a first electrode bending portion 1202, a second electrode bending portion 1203, and a third electrode bending portion 1204.

[0069] The housing 140 may include a flexible material. The housing 140 may include an insulating layer formed on both surfaces of a thin metal layer such as aluminum, and may be formed by a forming process such as drawing. The housing 140 may accommodate the electrode assembly 110 therein, and its edges may be sealed so that external foreign matter, etc., does not flow into the electrode assembly 110.

[0070] The case 140 may include a first case 141 , a second case 142 , a folding portion 143 , an internal space 144 , and a sealing portion 145 .

[0071] The first shell 141 and the second shell 142 may accommodate the electrode assembly 110 therein and may be folded relative to each other around the folding portion 143. The first shell 141 may include a first internal space 1441, and the second shell 142 may include a second internal space 1442. The first shell 141 and the second shell 142 may be connected to each other through the folding portion 143. If the electrode assembly 110 is accommodated in either of the first shell 141 and the second shell 142, the other shell may cover the corresponding shell, and thus, the internal space 144 accommodating the electrode assembly 110 may be formed. For example, the folding portion 143 may be adjacent to a surface of the electrode assembly 110 opposite to a surface on which the electrode tab 120 is formed.

[0072] The sealing portion 145 may be provided at each of the first shell 141 and the second shell 142. The sealing portion 145 may be provided along the outer edge of the first shell 141 and the outer edge of the second shell 142. Figure 5 As shown, the sealing portion 145 may be on one short side portion and a pair of long side portions of each of the first shell 141 and the second shell 142 and the short side portion of each of the first shell 141 and the second shell 142 on which the folding portion 143 is formed. When the first shell 141 and the second shell 142 are folded, the sealing portion 145 included in the first shell 141 and the sealing portion 145 included in the second shell 142 may contact each other to seal the space between the first shell 141 and the second shell 142.

[0073] The sealing portion 145 may include a platform portion 1451 , a side sealing portion 1452 , and a corner portion 1453 .

[0074] The platform portion 1451 is a portion from which the electrode tab 120 is led out and may be formed to correspond to any one of a pair of short side portions of the case 140. For example, the platform portion 1451 may be formed adjacent to one surface of the electrode assembly 110 from which the electrode tab 120 extends, and may be formed at an upper portion of the battery cell 100 in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell 100. The platform portion 1451 may seal the first case 141 and the second case 142 while extending in a direction intersecting the electrode tab 120. The platform portion 1451 may surround at least a portion of the electrode tab 120. For example, as Fig. 9 As shown, the platform portion 1451 may surround a portion of the electrode tab 120 extending from the electrode assembly 110. In other words, the platform portion 1451 of the first case 141 and the platform portion 1451 of the second case 142 may contact each other, and the electrode connection portion 1201 and the first electrode bent portion 1202 of the electrode tab 120 may pass through the contact surface between the platform portion 1451. The electrode tab 120 may be firmly supported by the platform portion 1451.

[0075] The pair of side sealing portions 1452 may extend in a direction crossing the platform portion 1451. For example, the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may correspond to a pair of long side portions of the housing 140. Each of the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may be connected to an end of the platform portion 1451 and an end of the folded portion 143. The platform portion 1451 and the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may intersect each other perpendicularly.

[0076] The platform portion 1451 and the pair of side sealing portions 1452 can be folded. Figure 6 As shown, when the first housing 141 and the second housing 142 are folded, a pair of side sealing portions 1452 may be on a pair of long side portions of the battery cell 100 and may each be folded upward (eg, at Figure 6 1451). When the pair of side sealing portions 1452 are folded, the platform portion 1451 may be folded upward. In other words, the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may be folded upward toward both sides of the battery cell 100, and then the platform portion 1451 may be folded toward one surface of the battery cell 100 having the electrode tab 120 thereon. Therefore, when the connection portions between both ends of the platform portion 1451 and the pair of side sealing portions 1452 are folded, a pair of corner portions 1453 may be generated.

[0077] A pair of corner portions 1453 may be between the platform portion 1451 and the side sealing portion 1452. If the side sealing portion 1452 and the platform portion 1451 are folded and the connection portion between the platform portion 1451 and the side sealing portion 1452 is not folded or cut, the corner portion 1453 may be between the side sealing portion 1452 and the platform portion 1451. For example, the platform portion 1451 and the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may intersect each other perpendicularly, and each connection portion therebetween may be not folded or cut (that is, the edges of the connection portions may be not folded or cut). In this state, the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may be folded toward the side surfaces of the battery cell 100, respectively. For example, the pair of side sealing portions 1452 may be folded upward, respectively, and then the platform portion 1451 may be folded toward the surface of the battery cell 100 from which the electrode tab 120 is led out. Therefore, a portion of the platform portion 1451 may be folded on the surface of the battery cell 100 from which the electrode tab 120 is led out (for example, Figure 7 The other part of the platform part 1451 may be folded into the pair of side sealing parts 1452. Subsequently, the connection part between the pair of side sealing parts 1452 and the platform part 1451 may be folded on the surface of the battery cell 100 from which the electrode terminal tab 120 is led out, and thus the pair of corner parts 1453 may be as shown. Figure 7 shown.

[0078] The protection circuit module 200 may be between a pair of corner portions 1453. For example, Figure 4 As shown, the substrate 210 of the protection circuit module 200 may be between a pair of corner portions 1453. The pair of corner portions 1453 may be respectively connected to both ends of the substrate 210 (for example, both ends of the substrate 210 in its longitudinal direction or the substrate 210 in the longitudinal direction). Figure 4 In other words, the pair of corner portions 1453 may not overlap with the substrate 210. Therefore, the total length of the battery pack 10 (including the pair of corner portions 1453) can be reduced.

[0079] The corner portion 1453 may be spaced apart from the end of the substrate 210 by a distance L1 (see Fig.10 ). For example, the pair of corner portions 1453 may be spaced apart from both ends of the substrate 210 by a distance L1, respectively. The distance L1 may be the distance between the inner end of the corner portion 1453 (e.g., the inner end in the width direction of the battery cell 100) and the end of the substrate 210. The corner portions 1453 may each have a length L2. Here, the length L2 may be the distance from the outer surface of the side sealing portion 1452 to the inner end of the corner portion 1453. The length L2 may be greater than the distance L1.

[0080] Each corner portion 1453 may include a first edge 1453 a , a second edge 1453 b , and a connecting portion 1453 c .

[0081] The first edge 1453a may be a portion formed by folding the connecting portion between the platform portion 1451 and the side sealing portion 1452, and may be, for example, one end portion of the side sealing portion 1452. The second edge 1453b may be a portion formed by folding the connecting portion between the platform portion 1451 and the side sealing portion 1452, and may be, for example, a portion of a boundary between the platform portion 1451 and the side sealing portion 1452. Although the corner portion 1453 may be folded on the platform portion 1451, the second edge 1453b may be opposite to the first edge 1453a. The connecting portion 1453c may connect the first edge 1453a to the second edge 1453b and may be the portion closest to the substrate 210. The connecting portion 1453c may be a contact point or a short edge where the end of the first edge 1453a and the end of the second edge 1453b meet. For example, as Fig.10 As shown, the connection portion 1453c may be an edge having both ends connected to an end of the first edge 1453a and an end of the second edge 1453b, respectively, and having a length smaller than that of the first edge 1453a and the second edge 1453b.

[0082] At least a portion of each of the first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c may be on the platform portion 1451. Therefore, the corner portion 1453 may be stably supported by the platform portion 1451. For example, Fig.10 As shown, if the corner portion 1453 is folded on the platform portion 1451, the first edge 1453a and the connecting portion 1453c can be completely on the platform portion 1451. The at least a portion of each of the first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c can include the entire first edge 1453a and the entire connecting portion 1453c. In addition, a partial section of the second edge 1453b can be on the platform portion 1451. Therefore, the corner portion 1453 can be supported more stably by the platform portion 1451.

[0083] The first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c may have a triangular shape together. For example, the first edge 1453a and the second edge 1453b may become two sides of a triangle, the connecting portion 1453c where one end of the first edge 1453a and one end of the second edge 1453b are connected to each other may become the vertex of the triangle, and a virtual line formed by extending the other end of the first edge 1453a and the other end of the second edge 1453b may become the base of the triangle, so the first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c may have a substantially triangular shape.

[0084] At least a portion of each of the first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c may be on the platform portion 1451, and at the same time, the first edge 1453a, the second edge 1453b, and the connecting portion 1453c have a substantially triangular shape, so that the area of the corner portion 1453 protruding outside the platform portion 1451 can be minimized. Alternatively, the corner portion 1453 may have a shape in which the width gradually decreases toward both ends of the substrate 210.

[0085] The portion of each corner portion 1453 that can be folded toward the platform portion 1451 may include an outer curved portion. Fig.11 As shown, the outer portion of the corner portion 1453 (or the folded portion of the corner portion 1453) may have a convex curved shape. The sealing portion 145 may further include a space 1454. For example, as Fig.11 As shown, the space 1454 may be an empty area formed between the upper surface of the platform portion 1451 and the corner portion 1453. The corner portion 1453 may extend along the outer contour of the space 1454, and the folded portion of the corner portion 1453 may include a curved shape, so that the first belt TP1 covering the corner portion 1453 may be stably attached to the corner portion 1453.

[0086] The protection circuit module 200 may control the charging and discharging operations of the battery cell 100 to prevent over-discharging and over-charging of the battery cell 100. The protection circuit module 200 may be connected to the battery cell 100 via the electrode tab 120. The protection circuit module 200 may be on the battery cell 100 and may not be in direct contact with another part of the battery pack 10 by means of a tape.

[0087] The protection circuit module 200 may include a substrate 210 , a substrate tab 220 , an extension portion 240 , and a connector 250 .

[0088] The substrate 210 may support other components of the protection circuit module 200 (eg, the substrate connection piece 220, the extension portion 240, etc.) and may include a circuit pattern and a component C (see Fig. 9 ). The substrate 210 may be a printed circuit board (PCB or FPCB) and may be on the battery cell 100. For example, Fig. 9 As shown, the substrate 210 may be between the fourth tape TP4 and the substrate tab 220. The substrate 210 may have a width direction of the battery cell 100 (eg, Figure 4 A rectangular shape extending in the Y-axis direction.

[0089] The substrate 210 may be between the two corner portions 1453. For example, both ends of the substrate 210 may be spaced apart from the pair of corner portions 1453 by a distance L1, respectively. Also, both ends of the substrate 210 may be spaced apart from the pair of first tapes TP1 by a distance L3, respectively.

[0090] One or more substrate tabs 220 may be on the substrate 210 and may be connected to the electrode tab 120. The substrate tab 220 may be a conductor that may be electrically connected to the electrode tab 120 and may be, for example, nickel, copper, aluminum, etc. For example, Figure 8 As shown, the first substrate tab 221 and the second substrate tab 222 may be respectively on the upper surface of the substrate 210 and may be spaced apart from each other. The number of the substrate tabs 220 may be the same as the number of the electrode tabs 120. The substrate tabs 220 may be formed at positions corresponding to the electrode tabs 120 and may be connected to the electrode tabs 120 by welding or the like to electrically connect the battery cell 100 to the protection circuit module 200. The substrate tabs 220 may include a first substrate tab 221 connected to the first electrode tab 121 and a second substrate tab 222 connected to the second electrode tab 122.

[0091] The substrate connection piece 220 may include a plurality of curved portions. For example, the substrate connection piece 220 may include a substrate connection portion 2201, a first substrate curved portion 2202, and a second substrate curved portion 2203. Fig. 9 As shown, the substrate connection portion 2201 may be on the upper surface of the substrate 210 and may be in the width direction of the substrate 210 (or in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100 or in the thickness direction of the battery cell 100). Fig. 9 The substrate connection portion 2201 may extend in a direction opposite to the direction in which the first electrode bent portion 1202 extends.

[0092] The first substrate bent portion 2202 may be bent at an end of the substrate connecting portion 2201 and extend in a direction different from the substrate connecting portion 2201. For example, the first substrate bent portion 2202 may be bent at an end of the substrate connecting portion 2201 and extend in a direction different from the substrate connecting portion 2201. Fig. 9 The first substrate bent portion 2202 may be on the substrate 210. The substrate connection portion 2201 and the second substrate bent portion 2203 may be spaced apart from each other by the first substrate bent portion 2202, and the electrode tab 120 may be inserted therebetween.

[0093] The second substrate bent portion 2203 may be bent at an end of the first substrate bent portion 2202 and may extend in a direction different from the first substrate bent portion 2202. For example, the second substrate bent portion 2203 may be bent in a thickness direction of the battery cell 100 (eg, in Fig. 9 At least a portion of the second substrate bent portion 2203 may overlap the substrate connecting portion 2201 in the height direction of the battery cell 100. The second substrate bent portion 2203 may be connected to the electrode terminal tab 120. For example, Fig. 9 As shown, a lower surface of the second substrate bent portion 2203 may contact an upper surface of the third electrode bent portion 1204 so that the electrode tab 120 and the substrate tab 220 may be connected to each other.

[0094] Despite Fig. 9 Only the first substrate tab 221 is shown in the figure, but the second substrate tab 222 may also have the same bending structure as the first substrate tab 221 and the same connection structure with the electrode tab 120 as the first substrate tab 221. In other words, the second substrate tab 222 may also include a substrate connection portion 2201, a first substrate bending portion 2202 and a second substrate bending portion 2203.

[0095] The extension portion 240 may connect the substrate 210 to the connector 250. For example, the extension portion 240 may have a first end in contact with the upper surface of the substrate 210 and a second end connected to the connector 250 (see FIG. Figure 1 and Figure 8 ). The extension portion 240 may have a width equal to or less than the width of the substrate 210 and may include a deformable flexible material. The extension portion 240 may extend downward along the side surface of the battery cell 100, and the connector 250 may be at the end of the extension portion 240. The connector 250 may connect the protection circuit module 200 to an external device of the battery pack 10, such as a controller or a computing unit that runs an application.

[0096] The battery pack 10 may include a tape. The tape may be between the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200 or on the outside of the battery cell 100 and / or the protection circuit module 200. The tape may be attached to one or both of the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200. The tape may insulate the battery cell 100 from the protection circuit module 200 and may protect the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200 from external impact. The tape may include insulating and / or flame retardant materials and may include, for example, Teflon. The tape may include a first tape TP1, a second tape TP2, a third tape TP3, and a fourth tape TP4.

[0097] The first tape TP1 may be attached to each of the two (short) side surfaces of the battery cell 100. Figure 1 As shown, the first tape TP1 may be between the extension portion 240 of the protection circuit module 200 and the battery cell 100. The first tape TP1 may prevent the extension portion 240 from directly contacting the battery cell 100. The upper portion of the first tape TP1 may be on the upper surface of the battery cell 100, and the lower portion of the first tape TP1 may be on the lower surface of the battery cell 100. A pair of first tapes TP1 may be attached to both side surfaces of the battery cell 100, respectively, and may cover a pair of corner portions 1453, respectively.

[0098] The first tape TP1 may cover the sealing portion 145. For example, when the side sealing portion 1452 is folded, the first tape TP1 may cover the outside of the side sealing portion 1452. In addition, when the corner portion 1453 is folded on the platform portion 1451, the first tape TP1 may cover the corner portion 1453. For example, the first tape TP1 may cover the entire corner portion 1453. For example, Fig.11 As shown, the upper portion of the first tape TP1 may cover the corner portion 1453, and the end of the first tape TP1 may protrude further toward the substrate 210 than the end of the corner portion 1453. In other words, the pair of first tapes TP1 may be spaced apart from both ends of the substrate 210, respectively. The ends of the pair of first tapes TP1 may protrude further toward both ends of the substrate 210 than the ends of the pair of corner portions 1453, respectively.

[0099] Therefore, the upper surface of the corner portion 1453 may not be exposed to the outside and may be completely covered by the first tape TP1. In addition, the corner portion 1453 may be spaced apart from the substrate 210 by a sufficient space so that the first tape TP1 may be between the end of the corner portion 1453 and the end of the substrate 210. The first tape TP1 may cover the corner portion 1453 to prevent the corner portion 1453 from being unfolded or separated from the platform portion 1451 during use of the battery pack 10.

[0100] The end of the first tape TP1 may be spaced apart from the end of the substrate 210 by a distance L3 (see Fig.11). The end of the first tape TP1 may be spaced apart from the end of the corner portion 1453 by a distance L4. The distance L3 may be smaller than the distance L4 so that the first tape TP1 does not interfere with the substrate 210 while the first tape TP1 reliably covers the corner portion 1453. In other words, the corresponding distance L3 between the ends of the pair of first tapes TP1 and both ends of the substrate 210 may be smaller than the corresponding distance L4 between the ends of the pair of corner portions 1453 and the ends of the pair of first tapes TP1. For example, the distance L3 may be 60% to 90% of the distance L4.

[0101] The second tape TP2 may be above the battery cell 100 to cover the protection circuit module 200 and the battery cell 100. Figure 1 As shown, the second tape TP2 may be on the protection circuit module 200 when the battery cell 100 and the protection circuit module 200 are connected to each other, and may cover the upper portion of the front surface and the upper portion of the rear surface of the battery cell 100. Fig. 9 As shown, the second tape TP2 may surround the assembly C, the protection circuit module 200, and the electrode tab 120. The second tape TP2 may be spaced apart from the protection circuit module 200 when attached to the battery cell 100.

[0102] Before folding the electrode tab 120 and the platform portion 1451, the third tape TP3 may be on the upper end of the battery cell 100 so that the upper end of the battery cell 100 may not be in direct contact with the electrode tab 120. Figure 6 As shown, the third tape TP3 may have a width corresponding to the width of the battery cell 100 (eg, Figure 6 The length of the battery cell 100 may be 100 (in the Y-axis direction) and may be on the upper end of the battery cell 100. In this state, the electrode tab 120 and the platform portion 1451 may be folded toward the upper surface of the housing 140 (e.g., the first housing 141), and the side sealing portions 1452 on both sides of the housing 140 may also be folded inward.

[0103] The fourth tape TP4 may be on the electrode tab 120 and / or the insulating tape 130. For example, Figure 8 and Fig. 9 As shown, when the electrode tab 120 and the platform portion 1451 are bent, the fourth tape TP4 may be thereon. The fourth tape TP4 may cover a portion of the electrode tab 120, the platform portion 1451, and the insulating tape 130 together, and may ensure airtightness and insulation between components.

[0104] The battery pack according to the embodiment can be miniaturized by reducing its overall size (including its length). In addition, interference between other components of the battery pack and the protection circuit module can be reduced.
