[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0091362, filed on Jul. 22, 2022, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Technical Field
[0004] The present invention relates to a conveying apparatus for a secondary battery, and more particularly, to a conveying apparatus for a secondary battery including an electrode assembly in which electrodes and separators are alternately stacked and a battery case accommodating the electrode assembly. Background Art
[0005] Unlike primary batteries, secondary batteries are rechargeable and can be reduced in size and increased in capacity, and thus, a great deal of research and development is being conducted on rechargeable batteries recently. As technology develops and demand for mobile devices increases, demand for secondary batteries as energy sources is rapidly increasing.
[0006] Rechargeable batteries are classified into coin type batteries, cylindrical type batteries, prismatic type batteries and pouch type batteries according to the shape of the battery case. In secondary batteries, an electrode assembly installed in a battery case is a chargeable and dischargeable power generating device having a structure in which electrodes and separators are stacked.
[0007] The electrode assembly can be generally divided into a jelly-roll type electrode assembly in which a separator is interposed between sheet-shaped positive and negative electrodes each coated with an active material and wound, a stacked type electrode assembly in which a plurality of positive electrodes and a plurality of negative electrodes are sequentially stacked with a separator interposed therebetween, and a stacked folding type electrode assembly in which stacked unit cells are wound together with an isolation film having a longer length.
[0008] Recently, pouch-type secondary batteries, each having a structure in which a stacked or stacked folded electrode assembly is built into a battery case made of an aluminum laminate sheet, have attracted a lot of attention due to reasons such as low manufacturing cost, light weight, and easy shape change, and their use has gradually increased.
[0009] These pouch-type secondary batteries are manufactured through secondary battery manufacturing processes such as an assembling process of housing an electrode assembly inside a battery case together with an electrolyte, a sealing process of sealing the electrode assembly, and an activation process of activating the electrode assembly.
[0010] The manufacturing process of the secondary battery is inevitably accompanied by the transportation of the secondary battery. During the transportation of the secondary battery, defects such as folding of the diaphragm may occur. That is, during the process of building the electrode assembly and the electrolyte into the battery case and transporting the secondary battery, the electrolyte may shift to one side, and due to the shifted electrolyte, a part of the diaphragm of the electrode assembly, especially a part of the outermost diaphragm on one side of the electrode tab, may be folded. In this case, the problem of the quality of the secondary battery being adversely affected may occur, so it is necessary to develop technology to solve this problem. Summary of the invention

[0043] Implementation Method 1
[0044] The present invention provides a conveying device 100 for secondary batteries in an apparatus for manufacturing secondary batteries 10, wherein the secondary battery 10 includes an electrode assembly 11 in which electrodes and separators are alternately stacked, and a battery case 12 for accommodating the electrode assembly 11, and the conveying device 100 includes a pair of accommodating portion clamps 110 for clamping a accommodating portion 12a of the battery case 12 for accommodating the electrode assembly 11; and a pair of edge portion clamps 120 for clamping an edge portion 12b extending from the edge of the accommodating portion 12a of the battery case 12.
[0045] First, if Figure 1 As shown, the secondary battery 10 may include an electrode assembly 11 in which electrodes and separators are alternately stacked, and a battery case 12 accommodating the electrode assembly 11 .
[0046] Here, the electrode assembly 11 is a component in which an electrode and a separator are stacked, and may have various structures. For example, the electrode assembly 11 may have a structure in which a positive electrode collector / positive electrode active material layer / separator / negative electrode active material layer / negative electrode collector are stacked in sequence, so that the positive electrode active material layer on one surface of the separator faces the negative electrode active material layer on the other surface of the separator. Here, at least one electrode tab may be provided on the electrode, and the electrode tab may be electrically connected to an electrode lead 13 described later. Here, the electrode assembly 11 is a component housed inside the battery case 12, and it should be noted that the electrode assembly 11 is indicated by a dotted line in the drawings.
[0047] The battery case 12 accommodating the electrode assembly 11 may include an accommodating portion 12 a accommodating the electrode assembly 11 , and an edge portion 12 b extending from an edge of the accommodating portion 12 a .
[0048] Specifically, the accommodation portion 12a may be understood as a region in which a partial region of the battery case 12 is concavely formed to define a blank space in which the electrode assembly 11 may be accommodated and the electrolyte E may be injected.
[0049] The edge portion 12b is a member extending from the edge of the receiving portion 12a, and may have a structure in which the edge is sealed. The sealing structure can be used to prevent the electrode assembly 11 received in the battery case 12 from being damaged due to exposure to external moisture, air, etc., and can be used to prevent the electrolyte E injected into the battery case 12 from leaking to the outside.
[0050] The electrode lead 13 may protrude from at least one end of the battery case 12. Here, the electrode lead 13 may be understood as a component having one end connected to the electrode assembly 11 inside the battery case 12 and the other end electrically connected to another secondary battery 10 or an electrical device outside the battery case 12.
[0051] In the secondary battery 10 as described above, the negative electrode needs to have an area large enough to cover the positive electrode to prevent lithium precipitation. Therefore, in the process of combining the positive electrode / separator / negative electrode, when the electrolyte E flows, the edge portion of the separator on which only the negative electrode exists can be easily folded. In particular, this folding phenomenon can easily occur in the outermost separator provided at the edge of one side of the electrode lead 13 or the electrode tab.
[0052] Furthermore, during transportation, the secondary battery 10 may be moved in a state where the front / rear surfaces are reversed, and here, when the secondary battery 10 is rotated so as to reverse the front / rear surfaces of the secondary battery 10, the phenomenon of the electrolyte E shifting may be aggravated. Therefore, the rotation speed at which the secondary battery 10 is rotated may be reduced to reduce the degree of flow of the electrolyte E, but this may cause another problem, namely, a reduction in production yield.
[0053] In order to solve the above problems, Figure 2 As shown, the present invention can provide a conveying device 100 for a secondary battery, which includes a receiving portion jig 110 and an edge portion jig 120 to ensure production yield and also prevent a folding phenomenon of a separator of an electrode assembly 11 during conveyance of the secondary battery 10. Hereinafter, the receiving portion jig 110 and the edge portion jig 120 will be described in more detail.
[0054] First, the receiving portion jig 110 is a member that clamps the receiving portion 12 a of the battery case 12 in which the electrode assembly 11 is received, and may have various configurations.
[0055] Specifically, the accommodation portion jig 110 is a component that clamps the secondary battery 10 together with the edge portion jig 120 during the conveyance of the secondary battery 10 , and can be understood as a component that functions as a dam to prevent the electrolyte E injected into the accommodation portion 12 a of the battery case 12 from flowing.
[0056] Here, in the receiving portion jig 110, any region may clamp the receiving portion 12a as long as the region corresponds to the receiving portion 12a. However, it is desirable that the receiving portion jig 110 may be configured to press the edge of the receiving portion 12a at which the diaphragm is easily folded.
[0057] Here, the edge of the accommodating portion 12a adjacent to the electrode tab and / or electrode lead 13 is an area that greatly affects the quality of the secondary battery 10 when the diaphragm is folded, and the accommodating portion fixture 110 can be configured to press the edge of the accommodating portion 12a adjacent to the electrode lead 13 or the electrode tab.
[0058] The receiving portion jig 110 may have any structure as long as the structure can clamp the receiving portion 12 a .
[0059] For example, Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, the receiving portion jig 110 may include a pair of jig units 111A and 111B which are disposed to face each other with the battery case 12 interposed therebetween and whose distance is adjusted.
[0060] Specifically, a pair of clamp units 111A and 111B may be respectively disposed above and below the battery case 12, and are disposed so that the battery case 12 is provided with a thickness direction (relative to the thickness direction of the battery case 12). Figure 3 and Figure 4 The distance between the clamp units 111A and 111B is adjusted by adjusting the distance between the clamp units 111A and 111B. Therefore, the clamp units 111A and 111B can press and clamp the accommodation portion 12a.
[0061] Here, the receiving portion jig 110 may further include a cushion pad 112 disposed on a surface of each of the jig units 111A and 111B facing the battery case 12. The cushion pad 112 may include various materials and may include, for example, ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA, Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) and the like.
[0062] The buffer pad 112 may be used to prevent the surface of the receiving portion 12 a from being damaged when the clamp units 111A and 111B press the receiving portion 12 a.
[0063] The edge portion clamp 120 is a member that clamps the edge portion 12 b extending from the edge of the accommodation portion 12 a of the battery case 12 , and may have various configurations.
[0064] Specifically, the edge portion jig 120 is a component that clamps the secondary battery 10 together with the receiving portion jig 110 during the conveyance of the secondary battery 10 , and can be understood as a component that more stably clamps the secondary battery 10 to improve the conveyance stability of the secondary battery 10 .
[0065] Here, in the edge portion clamp 120, any region may clamp the edge portion 12b as long as the region corresponds to the edge portion 12b of the secondary battery 10. Considering the connection relationship with the above-mentioned receiving portion clamp 110, the edge portion 12b may be configured to press the edge of the edge portion 12b from which the electrode lead 13 protrudes.
[0066] The edge portion clamp 120 may have any structure as long as the structure can clamp the edge portion 12 b.
[0067] For example, Figure 3 and Figure 4As shown, the edge portion clamp 120 may include a pair of clamp units 121A and 121B which are disposed to face each other with the battery case 12 interposed therebetween and whose distance is adjusted.
[0068] Specifically, a pair of clamp units 121A and 121B may be respectively disposed above and below the battery case 12, and are disposed so that the battery case 12 is provided with a thickness direction (relative to the thickness direction of the battery case 12). Figure 3 and Figure 4 The distance between the clamp units 121A and 121B is adjusted by adjusting the distance between the clamp units 121A and 121B in a direction parallel to the Z direction in FIG. Therefore, the clamp units 121A and 121B can press and clamp the edge portion 12b.
[0069] Here, the edge portion jig 120 may further include a friction pad 122 provided on a surface of each of the jig units 121A and 121B facing the battery case 12. The friction pad 122 may include various materials, and may include, for example, rubber or silicon.
[0070] The friction pad may be used to prevent the battery case 12 from sliding when the clamp units 121A and 121B press and clamp the battery case 12 .
[0071] like Figure 4 As shown in FIG. 5 , the transfer apparatus 100 for a secondary battery according to the present invention may further include a connection portion 130 connecting the receiving portion jig 110 to the edge portion jig 120 .
[0072] Specifically, the connecting portion 130 is a component that connects the receiving portion clamp 110 to the edge portion clamp 120, and can be understood as a component that enables the receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 to operate as a whole during the conveyance of the secondary battery 10, so that the receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 simultaneously clamp the battery case 12.
[0073] The connection portion 130 may be detachably coupled to each of the receiving portion fixture 110 and the edge portion fixture 120. To this end, the connection portion 130 may be coupled to each of the receiving portion fixture 110 and the edge portion fixture 120 by bolts.
[0074] At least one through hole h may be defined on one side surface of the connection portion 130. Here, at least one through hole h may be provided, and the connection portion 130 may be provided in a length direction (relative to the length direction of the connection portion 130). Figure 4 A plurality of through holes h are arranged in a direction parallel to the Y direction in the figure.
[0075] In addition, the through hole h may have various shapes. Here, the through hole h may have a thickness direction (with respect to the thickness direction of the connection part 130) of Figure 4An elliptical shape elongated in a direction parallel to the Z direction in FIG.
[0076] The fixing portion 150 fixed and coupled to the receiving portion fixture 110 may pass through the through hole h. Here, the fixing portion 150 may be a bolt, and the fixing portion 150 may pass through the through hole h and have an end fixed to the receiving portion fixture 110 so as to mutually fix and couple the connecting portion 130 and the receiving portion fixture 110. In this case, a slot or a hole into which the fixing portion 150 may be inserted may also be defined in the receiving portion fixture 110.
[0077] Here, when the through hole h has an elliptical shape elongated in the thickness direction of the connection part 130, the coupling position of the fixing part 150 can also be adjusted according to the thickness direction of the connection part 130. Therefore, in the receiving part jig 110, the height between the receiving part jig 110 and the connection part 130 can be adjusted according to the coupling position of the fixing part 150 and the through hole h. In this case, it is advantageous in that even when the thickness of the receiving part 12a or the like is changed according to the model type of the secondary battery 10, the position of the receiving part jig 110 can be easily adjusted.
[0078] The transfer apparatus 100 for a secondary battery according to the present invention may further include a position moving portion 140 connected to one of the receiving portion jig 110 and the edge portion jig 120 and moving a position of the one of the edge portion jig 120 and the receiving portion jig 110 .
[0079] The position moving portion 140 may include a body 141 and a pair of arm portions 142 , each of which is connected to the body 141 and at least one of the edge portion jig 120 and the receiving portion jig 110 .
[0080] Here, the body 141 may include a frame capable of supporting the pair of arms 142 , a driving motor for moving the positions of the pair of arms 142 , and the like.
[0081] The arm portion 142 is a member connected to the body 141 and at least one of the edge portion jig 120 and the receiving portion jig 110 , and may have various configurations.
[0082] Specifically, the arm 142 may have one end connected to the body 141 and the other end connected to at least one of the edge portion jig 120 and the receiving portion jig 110 so as to move the position of one of the edge portion jig 120 and the receiving portion jig 110 .
[0083] Here, the pair of arms 142 may be provided to be rotatable while making an arc motion around the body 141 so that the positions of the arms 142 are interchanged. In this case, the positions of the front and rear surfaces of the secondary battery 10 may be interchanged.
[0084] In the following, reference will be made to Figure 5a and Figure 5b An operation of transferring the secondary battery 10 by the transfer apparatus 100 for secondary batteries according to the present invention described above will be described in more detail.
[0085] first, Figure 5a 10 is a view illustrating a state in which the receiving portion jig 110 and the edge portion jig 120 of the conveying device 100 for secondary batteries clamp the secondary battery 10. In this case, each of the receiving portion jig 110 and the edge portion jig 120 can perform a direction ( Figure 5a The container 12a and the edge portion 12b can be clamped and fixed by the clamp units 111A and 111B of the container clamp 110 and the clamp units 121A and 121B of the edge portion clamp 120, respectively. Here, since the clamp units 111A and 111B of the container clamp 110 press the container 12a, the electrolyte E built into the container 12a can move from the edge of the container 12a to the central portion of the container 12a.
[0086] Figure 5b 1 is a view illustrating a secondary battery 10 clamped by a receiving portion clamp 110 and an edge portion clamp 120 in an inverted state. In this case, an arm 142 connected to at least one of the receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 can rotate while making an arc motion around a body 141, so that the secondary battery 10 can be inverted. Here, the positions of the front surface and the rear surface of the secondary battery 10 can be interchanged.
[0087] Here, when the secondary battery 10 is inverted, the electrolyte E may flow heavily inside the accommodation portion 12a. However, since the edge of the accommodation portion 12a is pressed by the accommodation portion jig 110, the electrolyte E cannot reach the edge of the accommodation portion 12a, thereby preventing the separator from being folded.
[0088] Figure 5c 1 is a view illustrating the flow of the electrolyte E after the secondary battery 10 clamped by the receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 is inverted. Here, since the electrolyte E still has fluidity, the electrolyte E can flow inside the receiving portion 12a. However, due to Figure 5b As in the above, the edge of the accommodation portion 12a is pressed by the accommodation portion jig 110, so the electrolyte E does not reach the edge of the accommodation portion 12a. Therefore, even right after the secondary battery 10 is turned upside down, the separator can be prevented from being folded.
[0089] Figure 5dIt is a view illustrating a state in which the electrolyte E does not flow after the secondary battery 10 clamped by the receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 is inverted. Here, since the electrolyte E no longer flows, the folding of the separator will no longer occur. Therefore, the clamp units 111A and 111B of the receiving portion clamp 110 and the clamp units 121A and 121B of the edge portion clamp 120 can release the pressure on the receiving portion 12a and the edge portion 12b. Here, since the pressure of the clamp units 111A and 111B of the receiving portion clamp 110 is released, a part of the electrolyte E built into the receiving portion 12a can move toward the edge of the receiving portion 12a again. The receiving portion clamp 110 and the edge portion clamp 120 can each perform a movement in a direction away from the secondary battery (with respect to the receiving portion 12a). Figure 5d Move backward in the direction opposite to the Y direction in FIG.
[0090] Implementation Method 2
[0091] In embodiment 2 of the present invention, the shapes of the clamp units 111A and 111B of the receiving portion clamp 110 and the clamp units 121A and 121B of the edge portion clamp 120 are partially different from those of the clamp units 111A and 111B of the receiving portion clamp 110 and the clamp units 121A and 121B of the edge portion clamp 120 according to embodiment 1.
[0092] Embodiment 2 will be described by omitting the common contents with Embodiment 1 and focusing on the differences. That is, it is obvious that the contents not described in Embodiment 2 can be regarded as the contents of Embodiment 1 as necessary.
[0093] first, Figure 6 The clamp unit 111A of the receiving portion clamp 110 is illustrated. Here, the end of the clamp unit 111A may be arranged so that the surface facing the battery housing 12 is inclined toward the end in the direction opposite to the battery housing 12. That is, an inclined surface R1 may be provided on the surface of the end of the clamp unit 111A facing the battery housing 12, and the inclined surface R1 is inclined toward the end in the direction opposite to the battery housing 12. Here, although Figure 6 Only one clamp unit 111A of the pair of clamp units 111A and 111B facing the battery case 12 is shown, but an inclined surface may be provided on the other clamp unit 111B.
[0094] In this case, even when at least one of the receiving portion jig 110 and the secondary battery 10 at the preset position is partially misaligned, the receiving portion jig 110 can guide the position movement of the secondary battery 10 while performing forward movement toward the battery case 12. Therefore, damage that may occur in the receiving portion 12a due to interference between the receiving portion jig 110 and the receiving portion 12a can be minimized.
[0095] Similarly, refer to Figure 7 , the end of the clamp unit 121A of the edge portion clamp 120 may be disposed so that the surface facing the battery case 12 is inclined toward the distal end in the direction opposite to the battery case 12 .
[0096] That is, an inclined surface R2 may be provided on the surface of the end of the clamp unit 121A facing the battery case 12, the inclined surface R2 being inclined toward the end in the direction opposite to the battery case 12. Figure 7 Only one clamp unit 121A of the pair of clamp units 121A and 121B facing the battery case 12 is shown, but an inclined surface may be provided on the other clamp unit 121B.
[0097] In this case, even when at least one of the receiving portion clamp 110 and the secondary battery 10 at the preset position is partially misaligned, the edge portion clamp 120 can guide the position movement of the secondary battery 10 while performing forward movement toward the battery case 12. Therefore, damage that may occur in the receiving portion 12a due to interference between the edge portion clamp 120 and the edge portion 12b can be minimized.
[0098] Although the present invention has been described with reference to limited embodiments and drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto and may be variously implemented by a person skilled in the art within the technical concept scope of the present invention and equivalents of the appended claims.
