[0046] II. Overview
[0047] In terms of context, an overview of various aspects of the present disclosure and the advantages provided by the present disclosure is provided. This overview and the following detailed description are presented for the purpose of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive, nor will the present disclosure be limited to the form described. In accordance with the above teachings, many modifications can be made, including combinations of the above-mentioned aspects. Some of these modifications have been discussed, and those skilled in the art will understand other modifications. Various aspects are selected and described in order to best illustrate the principles of the present disclosure and various aspects suitable for the specific purposes contemplated. Of course, the scope of the present disclosure is not limited to the examples or aspects set forth herein, but can be adopted by those of ordinary skill in the art in any number of applications and equivalent devices. On the contrary, the purpose is to limit the scope by the appended claims.
[0048] As described in further detail below, aspects of the present disclosure relate to an improved irrigation system, an interface device for an irrigation system, and an irrigation method using the system and the interface. The interface described below provides several advantages, such as: improving the versatility and efficiency of the irrigation system; improving the safety of use of the irrigation system; and / or eliminating or reducing the risk of contamination when using solutions with the irrigation system. As an advantage, the interface device described below allows irrigation systems that are not normally compatible with non-irrigation or manual solution containers to be effectively used with such containers, all while improving ease of use and / or safety. Figure 12 shows a solution container 100, which may be, for example, a container that is not typically compatible with and / or not sold with an irrigation system, for use with an irrigation system or device 300. As described in further detail below, the interface device 200 may include a threaded engagement surface for threadably engaging the interface device 200 with the solution container 100. The interface device 200 may include a hidden or partially covered lancet interface configured to pierce a membrane of the solution container 100 and provide a fluid path to the irrigation device 300 when the threaded engagement surface is threadedly engaged with corresponding threads of the solution container 100. The combination of the threaded engagement surface and the partially covered lancet interface improves the reliability and safety of the system by ensuring that a technician or physician receives tactile feedback indicating that the interface device 200 is securely connected to the solution container 100. In addition, because the lancet interface is surrounded or at least partially covered by the outer wall of the interface device 200, the risk that the technician or physician may be injured by the lancet interface is reduced, which may be particularly important in a hospital or other high-pressure environment.
[0049] Additional features and advantages are described in the following detailed description with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0050] III. Detailed Examples
[0051] Figure 1 2 shows an example of an interface device 200 according to aspects of the present disclosure. The interface device 200 may include a grippable surface or tactile surface 202. Figure 1 As shown in FIG. 2 , the interface device 200 can be configured to engage with the solution container 100. The solution container 100 can, for example, include a container interface 102, which includes a membrane or frangible seal 108, a container seal and / or a container engagement surface 106, and a threaded container engagement structure 104. In addition, the solution container 100 can, for example, include a housing 110 configured to accommodate a liquid irrigation solution. The housing 110 and / or the container interface 102 can be formed of a flexible or semi-flexible plastic or other synthetic or semi-synthetic material known in the art (e.g., polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)). In one example, the solution container 100 can be blow molded of a flexible or semi-flexible plastic or other synthetic or semi-synthetic material known in the art (e.g., polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)). In a more specific example, the solution container 100 can be blow molded of polypropylene.
[0052] Although only one example of a solution container 100 is shown, it should be noted that the solution container that can be used with various aspects of the present disclosure can be, for example, any known related solution container, which can be commercially available. Therefore, some elements such as the container interface 102 can be changed. As described below, the interface device 200 is fully contemplated to be modified and / or altered to allow use with a variety of containers and container interface types, including commercially available containers. An example of a commercially available container is a container sold by Becton, Dickinson as a packaged premixed PVP-I solution, sold under the name of the BD SurgiphorTM sterile wound irrigation system.
[0053] like Figure 1 2, the disclosed interface device 200 can be used with an irrigation device 300. After the interface device 200 is mounted to the container 100 via the container interface 102, a fluid path can be provided to one or more fluid conduits 306 of the irrigation device 300. The irrigation device 300 can include one or more pumps (not shown) that increase the velocity and / or flow rate of the fluid provided from the container 100 to the irrigation device 300 via the interface device 200. Figures 2A-2D As shown, one example of an irrigation device 300 may include a trigger 312, a body 310, and a nozzle 308. 300 may be configured to provide a pulsed flow or a constant flow of pressurized fluid from the nozzle 308 when the trigger 312 is depressed or held. Figure 2B-2D 2 shows an example of steps for connecting the irrigation device 300 to the solution container 100 via the interface device 200 according to aspects of the present disclosure. The interface device 200 may be mounted to the solution container by threading the interface device 200 onto the solution container 100 and tightening until the interface device 200 is fully seated on the solution container 100. Figure 2B-2D As shown, the irrigation port 230 can have a removable cap or other sealing portion 211. Once the removable cap or sealing portion is removed (e.g., by twisting off), the irrigation lancet 307 can be installed into the irrigation port 230 by pressing and / or twisting the irrigation lancet 307 into the irrigation port 230. Once the interface device 200 is installed on the solution container 100 and the irrigation lancet 307 is fully installed in the irrigation port 230, the solution from the solution container 100 can be dispensed via the irrigation device (e.g., irrigation device 300).
[0054] In one exemplary embodiment, the irrigation device 300 may be, for example, a commercially available irrigation device such as the Simpulse® sold by Becton Dickinson Corporation. TMSOLO Irrigation Device. In another example, the irrigation device 300 may be the Simpulse VariCare sold by Becton Dickinson TM Suction Irrigator. Some other examples of irrigation devices that can be used with the present disclosure are the Pulsavac Plus sold by Zimmer Biomet. TM and / or Pulsavac Plus AC TM Wound debridement systems and / or InterPulse sold by Stryker TM Pulsed Irrigation System. While one particular example of an irrigation device is shown, and additional examples are provided above, it should be noted that an irrigation device that can be used with aspects of the present disclosure can be, for example, any known related device that can be commercially available. Thus, some elements such as the body 310 and / or one or more fluid conduits 306 can vary without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. For example, the irrigation device can have a remote or separate pump, and the handpiece can have a Figures 2A-2D Different designs of gun-type devices are shown.
[0055] In one example, multiple solution containers 100 and / or a single solution container 100 can be connected to a tubing set having multiple fluid paths, allowing fluid to be dispensed from or to at least one solution container 100 and / or another solution container that may contain other solutions. Figure 2EAs shown, one or more solution containers (e.g., 100a, 100b, and / or 100c) can be connected to a Y-shaped or "Cysto-type" tubing set for flushing and / or irrigation (e.g., open and / or closed procedures used in cystoscopy, transurethral procedures (e.g., TUR), general surgery, and arthroscopic surgical procedures). For example, one or more solution containers can be connected to a first irrigation needle 307a and / or a second irrigation needle 307b of the tubing set via one or more interface devices 200 (e.g., 200a). The user can then dispense a mixture of fluids from the two solution containers connected to the first irrigation needle 307a and / or the second irrigation needle 307b and / or can remove fluids from the patient's body into one or more of the containers 100a, 100b, and / or 100c. The flow of fluid into or out of each container 100a, 100b and / or 100c (and or any other container connected to any one or combination of the first irrigation lancet 307a, the second irrigation lancet 307b of the first tubing set 350 and / or the first irrigation lancet 407a, the second irrigation lancet 407b, the fourth irrigation lancet 407c and / or the fourth irrigation lancet 407d of the second example tubing set 450) can be controlled by one or another via a series of tubing clamps or valves 313a and / or 313b. The tubing can be in fluid communication with tubing or other flushing or flushing devices 314 and / or 414 at the proximal end of the tubing. It should be noted that although Figure 2E No flushing device or flow device is specifically shown, but any one or combination of known irrigation devices (including the devices discussed herein) and / or any flow or flushing devices can be located at the distal end of the tube, as shown by reference numeral 314.
[0056] In another example, one or more solution containers can be connected to the first irrigation needle 407a and / or the second irrigation needle 407b and / or the third irrigation needle 407c and / or the fourth irrigation needle 407d of the tubing set via one or more interface devices 200 (e.g., 200b and / or 200c). The user can then dispense a mixture of fluids from any one or combination or all of the containers connected to the first irrigation needle 407a and / or the second irrigation needle 407b and / or the third irrigation needle 307 and / or the fourth irrigation needle 407d and / or remove fluids from the patient's body into any one or combination or all of the containers, and the flow from or into one or the other can be controlled via a series of tube clamps or valves 313a and / or 313b. The tubing can be connected to an irrigation device located at the proximal end of the tubing (e.g., FIG. 2- Figure 2DIt should be noted that although the irrigation device, the flushing device and / or the flushing device are not specifically shown, their positions or connection points are shown in FIG. Figure 2E denoted by reference numeral 400. As described below, the interface device 200 is fully contemplated to be modified and / or altered to permit use with a variety of irrigation devices, flushing devices, and / or flushing devices.
[0057] Figure 3-Figure 4 An example of an interface device 200 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The interface device 200 may, for example, include a grippable surface or tactile surface 202. The tactile surface 202 may, for example, include a series of radially spaced recesses that allow a user to easily grip the interface device 200 even when wearing gloves. In addition, the tactile surface 202 may provide additional grip, for example, when a technician's or doctor's gloves are wet or otherwise covered with a material that can reduce the coefficient of friction between the user's gloves and the interface device 200. It should be noted that although Figure 1 A series of recesses or grooves are shown in , but any surface irregularity or pattern may be provided that may improve a user's grip on the interface device 200. Some example alternatives include ribs, grooves, dots, and / or a roughened surface.
[0058] The interface device 200 may further include a container interface receiving portion 205. The container receiving portion 205 may include an inner radial wall having threads 204 configured to engage with the solution container 100 ( Figure 1 ) is threadedly engaged with the threaded container engagement structure 104 of the interface device 200. In some examples, the interface receiving portion 205 of the interface device 200 may include a child lock type or anti-unlocking in the thread. For example, the anti-unlocking may require a technician or user to perform a second action in addition to the twisting motion. For example, the second action can be to apply a squeeze and / or press to one or more buttons, which is combined with the twisting motion and then engages the threads of the solution container 100 and allows removal. In the above example, if the second action is not performed, the interface device 200 can only rotate on the solution container (i.e., without engaging the threads 204) and / or can be locked to prevent rotation. This feature can prevent the interface device 200 from being accidentally or unintentionally removed from the solution container 100.
[0059] like Figure 4-Figure 6 As shown in the example cross-sectional view of the interface device 200 in FIG. 1 , the container interface receiving portion 205 can have a lancet interface 208 located therein. The lancet interface 208 can, for example, extend from the inner wall 222 of the interface device 200. The lancet interface 208 can taper downward to a point of reduced cross-section and / or can have a sharp point (e.g., such as Figure 4 and Figure 6 The point or sharp point may be sized or otherwise configured to be threaded or otherwise mounted to a solution container (e.g., as shown). Figures 2A-2D The lancet interface 208 may include one or more fluid conduits configured to provide fluid communication with the solution container 100 when the interface device 200 is mounted on the container interface 102 of the solution container 100. The lancet interface 208 may include a fluid passage 207 to provide a supply of fluid (e.g., an irrigation solution contained in the solution container) to one or more fluid conduits 306 of the irrigation device 300. Figure 5 The arrow 206 in the figure indicates that the Figure 1 ) is supplied to the irrigation device 300 through the interface device 200 ( Figures 2A-2D ) is an example fluid path for an irrigation solution.
[0060] The lancet interface 208 may further include a vent passage 209. The vent passage may, for example, provide air or gas to the solution container 100 to equalize the pressure within the solution container 100 as irrigation solution is removed from the container 100 via the fluid passage 207. In an example embodiment, the vent passage may, for example, include a vent 210 having a one-way valve or membrane, such as a hydrophobic membrane 212. In an example embodiment, the hydrophobic membrane 212 prevents liquid solution from passing therethrough while allowing air to freely move into and / or out of the solution container 100, and thus allow the pressure within the solution container to equalize as solution is removed from the solution container 100 by the irrigation device. In some examples, the vent passage may, for example, have a filter or other membrane, which may be a sterile filter or membrane located at the opening of the hydrophobic membrane to prevent contaminants from entering the solution container. Figure 5 Arrows 266 in illustrative embodiment show one example of fluid air / gas flow through the vent passage 209 and the hydrophobic membrane 212 (eg, when the interface device 200 is mounted to the solution container 100).
[0061] The interface device 200 may further include an end surface 223, which may, for example, provide a surface transition from the thread 204 of the interface device 200 to the unthreaded radial surface and / or blind wall 225. The end surface 223 and / or blind wall may provide a mechanical stop when the interface device 200 is threadedly engaged with the solution container 100. The mechanical stop provided by the end surface 223 and / or blind wall 225 provides an additional advantage, namely indicating to the user that the interface device 200 is properly mounted on the solution container 100 and when the lancet interface 208 has completely pierced the membrane or pierceable section of the solution container 100. In some examples, the end surface 223 may, for example, include an additional feedback mechanism or device. For example, the blind wall may have an elastic or semi-elastic second wall or other protrusion that provides a tactile or audible "click" sound when the interface device 200 is fully engaged with the solution container 100.
[0062] The engagement of any one or combination of the threads 204, the lancet interface 208, and / or the blind wall 225 or end surface 223 can form a seal between the solution container 100 and the interface device 200 to ensure that the irrigation solution does not leak from the interface and / or the container. For example, to install the interface device 200 on the solution container, the user can align the receiving portion 205 with the container interface 102 of the solution container 100 and press and twist the interface device 200 onto the container interface 102 while grasping the solution container 100 and the grippable surface or tactile surface 202 of the interface device 200. Once the threaded container engagement formations 104 and the receiving threads 204 are threadably engaged, the user can continue to twist the interface device relative to the solution container 100 as the lancet interface 208 pierces the membrane or pierceable portion 108 of the solution container 100, and continue to twist the interface until resistance is felt when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 223 and / or blind wall 225 of the interface device 200. The increased resistance felt by the user when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 223 and / or blind wall 225 of the interface device 200 indicates that the interface device 200 is fully installed and a seal has been established with the solution container 100 .
[0063] As an alternative to the above aspect, the user may align the lancet interface 208 with the membrane or pierceable portion 108 of the solution container and use the lancet interface 208 to pierce the membrane or pierceable portion 108 before the threaded container engagement formation 104 and the receiving threads 204 are threadably engaged. After the membrane or pierceable portion 108 is pierced by the lancet interface 208, the user may engage the threaded container engagement formation 104 and the receiving threads 204 and twist the interface device 200 relative to the solution container 100 until resistance is felt when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 223 and / or the blind wall 225 of the interface device 200. Similar to the above aspect, the increased resistance felt by the user when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 223 and / or the blind wall 225 of the interface device 200 indicates that the interface device 200 has been fully installed and a seal has been established with the solution container 100.
[0064] In one example that can be used with the above examples, the interface device 200 can, for example, include a protective seal 280. The protective seal can further prevent contamination of the puncture needle interface 208 and / or can protect the user from possible harm due to inadvertent contact with the puncture needle interface 208. In one example, 280 can be a polymer film or foil that is removable before the interface device 200 is installed on the solution container 100 and / or can be configured to break or perforate when the user installs the interface device 200 on the solution container 100 using the above method. In another example, the puncture needle interface 208 can be covered by a puncture needle sheath (not shown) until it is activated or used. As another alternative, the interface device 200 can include a retractable puncture needle interface 208 that is only exposed when the interface device 200 is threadedly connected to the solution container 100. In the above example, if the interface device 200 is not in use, the lancet interface 208 remains hidden, and the lancet interface 208 is only exposed when the interface device 200 is threaded onto the container interface 102 of the solution container 100. In the above example, the interface device 200 may include a split polymer material 281 covering the lancet interface 208, and when the interface device 200 is threaded onto the container interface 102 of the solution container 100, the polymer material splits to expose the lancet interface 208. The above split polymer material may be an elastic material that is configured to maintain its original shape and is therefore configured to cover the lancet interface 208 again when the interface device 200 is removed from the container interface 102. In one example, the split polymer material 281 may be, for example, silicone or any other material that provides the required flexibility to allow the lancet interface 208 to penetrate the material while still maintaining or returning to its original shape. In one example, the split polymer material 281 may be, for example, formed of semi-rigid silicone or the like. The above examples provide improved safety to the user both before the interface device 200 is installed and after the interface device 200 is removed.
[0065] The protective seal 280 or split polymer material 281 may, for example, be coated or treated with an antimicrobial agent and / or may contain an antimicrobial agent, which may further reduce the likelihood of solution or solution path contamination and help maintain the sterility of the irrigation solution.
[0066] like Figure 6As shown, in one exemplary aspect of the present disclosure, the interface device 200 can include a check valve or one-way valve 299. The check valve or one-way valve can include any known valve, membrane, or combination thereof. The check valve 299 can, for example, only allow flow in the direction of arrow 298, which prevents potential contaminants in the irrigation device 300 and or one or more fluid conduits 306 from being pulled back into the solution container 100 due to any pressure differential at the pump of the irrigation device 300 and the solution container 100. By incorporating the check valve 299 into the interface device 200, the risk of irrigation solution contamination is further reduced and / or completely eliminated.
[0067] like Figure 6 As shown, the interface device 200 can further include an irrigation port 230. The irrigation port 230 can, for example, have a channel or fluid path 231 that is in fluid communication with the fluid passage 207. Figure 3 As shown, the fluid pathway may, for example, have an irrigation port seal 234. The irrigation port seal 234 may, for example, be a foil or film seal and / or may be molded as part of the interface device 200 and may be configured to rupture or otherwise have a seal formed by an irrigation device (e.g., Figures 2A-2D The opening formed therein by the sharp end 311 of the lavage needle 307 of the lavage device 300 in the lavage device 300). The inner diameter of the channel or fluid path 231 can, for example, be sized to be slightly smaller than or equal to at least a portion of the lavage needle so as to form a sealing fit with the lavage needle 307. In addition, the lavage port 230 and / or the area surrounding the channel or fluid path 231 can, for example, be formed of a flexible or semi-flexible material. When the lavage needle 307 is pressed into the lavage port 230, any one or combination of the above features can allow a liquid-tight seal to be formed between the interface device 200 and the lavage needle 307. When preparing the lavage device 300 for use, the user can press the lavage needle 307 into the lavage port 230, thereby rupturing the lavage port seal 234 or otherwise opening a fluid path between the lavage needle 307 and the fluid passage 207 of the interface device 200. Thus, when irrigation lancet 307 is installed into interface device 200 and solution container 100 is connected to interface device 200 , irrigation solution may be pumped from solution container 100 to irrigation device 300 .
[0068] In addition to preventing contamination of the interface device 200, the lavage port seal 234 further provides improvements in usability, efficiency, and can reduce waste or accidents of lavage fluid. Typically, technicians and health care practitioners are accustomed to suspending fluid on an intravenous (IV) pole and then directly installing the lavage lancet 307 of the lavage device 300 into a bag containing a solution. Therefore, if there is no lavage port seal 234, and the technician suspends the solution container 100 on which the interface device 200 is already installed on the IV pole, the lavage fluid will be poured out from the solution container 100 through the channel or fluid path 231. The lavage port seal 234 allows the technician to use the solution container 100 with the interface device 200 without having to change the typical workflow they may be accustomed to. In addition, the lavage port 230 may include features, markings or scribes that guide the user to fully insert the lavage lancet 307 into the lavage port 230 to prevent the lavage lancet from falling out. When the lavage lancet is aligned with the score line (ie, "lancet to line"), the markings / score lines can visually indicate to the user that the lavage lancet is properly inserted.
[0069] Figure 7-Figure 10 An example of an interface device 700 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the interface device 700 described below may share features with the interface device 200 described above, may include features that replace the features described above, and / or may be similar to the interface device described above. In addition, aspects described throughout the present disclosure may be similar to those described with reference to Figure 7-Figure 10 Used together with the features described below.
[0070] The interface device 400 may, for example, include a grippable surface or tactile surface 702. The tactile surface 702 may, for example, include a series of radially spaced recesses that allow a user to easily grip the interface device 700 even when wearing gloves. In addition, the tactile surface 702 may provide additional grip, for example, when the technician's or doctor's gloves are wet or otherwise covered with a material that may reduce the coefficient of friction between the user's gloves and the interface device 700. It should be noted that although Figure 7 A series of recesses or grooves are shown in , but any surface irregularity or pattern may be provided that may improve a user's grip on the interface device 700. Some example alternatives include ribs, grooves, dots, and / or a roughened surface.
[0071] The interface device 700 may further include a container interface receiving portion 705. The container receiving portion 705 may include an inner radial wall having threads 704 configured to engage with the solution container 100 ( Figure 1 , Figure 2A-2E) is threadedly engaged with the threaded container engagement structure 104 of the interface device 700. In some examples, the interface receiving portion 705 of the interface device 700 may include a child lock type or anti-unlocking in the thread. For example, the anti-unlocking may require a technician or user to perform a second action in addition to the twisting motion. For example, the second action can be to apply squeeze and / or press to one or more buttons, which is combined with the twisting motion and then engages the thread of the solution container 100 and allows removal. In the above example, if the second action is not performed, the interface device 700 can only rotate on the solution container (i.e., not engage the thread 704) and / or can be locked to prevent rotation. This feature can prevent the interface device 700 from being accidentally or unintentionally removed from the solution container 100.
[0072] like Figure 8-Figure 10 As shown in the example cross-sectional view of the interface device 700 in FIG. 1 , the container interface receiving portion 705 can have a lancet interface 708 located therein. The lancet interface 708 can, for example, extend from the inner wall 722 of the interface device 700. The lancet interface 708 can taper downward to a point of reduced cross-section and / or can have a sharp point (e.g., such as Figure 8-Figure 10 ). The point or sharp point can be sized or otherwise configured to be threaded or otherwise mounted to a solution container (e.g., as shown). Figures 2A-2D The lancet interface 708 may include one or more fluid conduits configured to be mounted to the container interface 102 (shown) of the solution container 100 when the interface device 700 is mounted to the solution container 100. Figure 1 ) provides fluid communication with the solution container 100. The lancet interface 708 may include a fluid passage 707 to provide fluid communication with an irrigation device (e.g., Figures 2A-2D One or more fluid conduits 308 in the device 300 provide a supply of fluid (eg, irrigation solution contained within a solution container). Fig. 9 and Fig.10 The arrow 706 in FIG. 1 represents the flow from the container 100 ( Figure 1-2E ) is supplied to the irrigation devices 300, 314, 415 through the interface device 200 ( Figure 2A-2E ) is an example fluid path for an irrigation solution.
[0073] The lancet interface 708 may further include a vent passage 709. The vent passage may, for example, provide air or gas to the solution container 100 to equalize the pressure within the solution container 100 when the irrigation solution is removed from the container 100 via the fluid passage 707. In an example embodiment, the vent passage may, for example, include a one-way valve or membrane (such as a hydrophobic membrane 712 ( Fig.10 )) with multiple vents 711. Figure 7As shown in the example of FIG. 1 , the plurality of vents 711 may include, for example, a first vent 711a, a second vent 711b, and / or a third vent 711c, which may be semicircular and follow the contour of the top surface of the interface device 700. It should be noted that although Figure 7 , but a variety of shapes of openings may be provided without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. In an example embodiment, the hydrophobic membrane 712 prevents the liquid solution from passing therethrough while allowing air to freely move into and / or out of the solution container 100, and thus allowing the pressure within the solution container to equalize as the solution is removed from the solution container 100 by the irrigation device. In some examples, the vent passage may, for example, have a filter or other membrane, which may be a sterile filter or membrane located at the opening of the hydrophobic membrane to prevent contaminants from entering the solution container. Fig. 9 Arrows 710 and 766 in illustrative embodiment show one example of fluid air / gas flow through vent passage 709 and hydrophobic membrane 712 (eg, when interface device 700 is mounted to solution container 100).
[0074] The interface device 700 may further include an end surface 723, which may, for example, provide a surface transition from the threads 204 of the interface device 200 to the unthreaded radial surface and / or blind wall 225. The end surface 223 and / or blind wall may provide a mechanical stop when the interface device 200 is threadedly engaged with the solution container 100. The mechanical stop provided by the end surface 223 and / or blind wall 725 provides an additional advantage, namely indicating to the user that the interface device 700 is properly mounted on the solution container 100 and when the lancet interface 708 has completely pierced the membrane or pierceable section of the solution container 100. In some examples, the end surface 723 may, for example, include an additional feedback mechanism or device. For example, the blind wall may have an elastic or semi-elastic second wall or other protrusion (not shown) that provides a tactile or audible "click" sound when the interface device 700 is fully engaged with the solution container 100.
[0075] The engagement of any one or combination of the threads 704, the lancet interface 708, and / or the blind wall 725 or end surface 723 can form a seal between the solution container 100 and the interface device 700 to ensure that the irrigation solution does not leak from the interface and / or the container. For example, to install the interface device 200 on the solution container, the user can align the receiving portion 705 with the container interface 102 of the solution container 100 and press and twist the interface device 700 onto the container interface 102 while grasping the solution container 100 and the grippable surface or tactile surface 702 of the interface device 700. Once the threaded container engagement formations 104 and the receiving threads 704 are threadingly engaged, the user can continue to twist the interface device relative to the solution container 100 as the lancet interface 708 pierces the membrane or pierceable portion 108 of the solution container 100, and continue to twist the interface until resistance is felt when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 723 and / or blind wall 725 of the interface device 700. The increased resistance felt by the user when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 723 and / or blind wall 725 of the interface device 700 indicates that the interface device 700 is fully installed and a seal has been established with the solution container 100 .
[0076] As an alternative to the above aspect, the user may align the lancet interface 708 with the membrane or pierceable portion 108 of the solution container and use the lancet interface 708 to pierce the membrane or pierceable portion 108 before the threaded container engagement formation 104 and the receiving threads 704 are threadably engaged. After the membrane or pierceable portion 108 is pierced by the lancet interface 708, the user may engage the threaded container engagement formation 104 and the receiving threads 704 and twist the interface device 700 relative to the solution container 100 until resistance is felt when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 723 and / or the blind wall 725 of the interface device 700. Similar to the above aspect, the increased resistance felt by the user when the container interface 102 bottoms out against the end surface 723 and / or the blind wall 725 of the interface device 700 indicates that the interface device 700 has been fully installed and a seal has been established with the solution container 100.
[0077] In an example that can be used with the above examples and is similar to the aspects described above with respect to the interface device 200, the interface device 700 can, for example, include a protective seal 780. The protective seal can further prevent contamination of the lancet interface 708 and / or can protect the user from possible harm due to inadvertent contact with the lancet interface 708. In one example, 780 can be a polymer film or foil that is removable before the interface device 700 is mounted on the solution container 100 and / or can be configured to rupture or perforate when the user mounts the interface device 700 on the solution container 100 using the above method. In another example, the lancet interface 708 can be covered by a lancet sheath (not shown) until it is activated or used. As another alternative, the interface device 700 can include a retractable lancet interface 208 that is only exposed when the interface device 700 is threadedly connected to the solution container 100. In the above example, if the interface device 700 is not in use, the lancet interface 708 remains hidden, and the lancet interface 708 is only exposed when the interface device 700 is threaded onto the container interface 102 of the solution container 100. In the above example, the interface device 700 may include a split polymer material 781 covering the lancet interface 708, and when the interface device 700 is threaded onto the container interface 102 of the solution container 100, the polymer material splits to expose the lancet interface 708. The above split polymer material may be an elastic material that is configured to maintain its original shape and is therefore configured to cover the lancet interface 708 again when the interface device 700 is removed from the container interface 102. In one example, the split polymer material 781 may be, for example, silicone or any other material that provides the required flexibility to allow the lancet interface 708 to penetrate the material while still maintaining or returning to its original shape. In one example, the split polymer material 781 may be, for example, formed of semi-rigid silicone or the like. The above examples provide improved safety to the user both before the interface device 700 is installed and after the interface device 700 is removed.
[0078] The protective seal 780 or split polymer material 781 may, for example, be coated or treated with an antimicrobial agent and / or may contain an antimicrobial agent, which may further reduce the likelihood of solution or solution path contamination and help maintain the sterility of the irrigation solution.
[0079] Although Figure 7-Figure 10 , but in one exemplary aspect of the present disclosure, the interface device 700 may include a check valve or a one-way valve (e.g., similar to Figure 6The check valve or one-way valve may include any known valve, membrane, or combination thereof. The check valve may, for example, only allow flow in the direction of arrow 706, which prevents the irrigation device 300 and or one or more fluid conduits (e.g., Figure 2A and Figure 2E Potential contaminants in the irrigation solution 306, 350 and / or 450) are drawn back into the solution container 100 due to any pressure differential at the pump of the irrigation device 300 and the solution container 100. By incorporating a check valve into the interface device 700, the risk of irrigation solution contamination is further reduced and / or completely eliminated.
[0080] like Fig.10 As shown, the interface device 700 can further include an irrigation port 730. The irrigation port 730 can, for example, have a channel or fluid path 731 that is in fluid communication with the fluid passage 707. Fig.10 As shown, the fluid pathway may, for example, have an irrigation port seal 734. The irrigation port seal 734 may, for example, be a foil or film seal and / or may be molded as part of the interface device 700 and may be configured to rupture or otherwise have an opening formed by an irrigation device (e.g., Figure 2A-2E The opening formed therein by the sharp end 811 of the lavage needle 807 of the lavage device 300 and / or 315 or 415 in ... Thus, when irrigation lancet 807 is installed into interface device 700 and solution container 100 is connected to interface device 800, irrigation solution may be pumped from solution container 100 to the irrigation device (eg, 300 and / or 315 or 415).
[0081] In addition to preventing contamination of the interface device 700, the irrigation port seal 734 further provides improvements in usability, efficiency, and can reduce waste or accidents of irrigation fluid. Typically, technicians and health care practitioners are accustomed to hanging fluid on an intravenous (IV) pole and then installing the irrigation needle 807 of the irrigation device 800 directly into a bag containing solution. Therefore, if the irrigation port seal 734 is not present and the technician hangs the solution container 100 on which the interface device 700 is already installed on the IV pole, the irrigation fluid will pour out of the solution container 100 through the channel or fluid path 731. The irrigation port seal 734 allows the technician to use the interface device 700 with the solution container 100 without having to change the typical workflow they may be accustomed to.
[0082] In addition, the irrigation port 730 may include features, markings or scoring lines that guide the user to fully insert the irrigation lancet 807 into the irrigation port 730 to prevent the irrigation lancet from falling out. When the irrigation lancet is aligned with the scoring line (i.e., "lancet to line"), the marking / scoring line can visually indicate to the user that the irrigation lancet is properly inserted.
