Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a lighting module, in particular to the field of a light-guiding lighting module. The present invention is particularly, but not exclusively, applicable to the display of light patterns. Background Art
[0002] Many installations are integrating more and more lighting functions, especially to convey information, for aesthetic customization purposes or to create atmosphere.
[0003] This is also a requirement for displaying light patterns at a high-resolution level.
[0004] For this purpose, it is known to use a screen, such as an LCD screen.
[0005] However, this technology is not only expensive but also sensitive to environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity or UV radiation.
[0006] Furthermore, having a flexible lighting module is preferred to facilitate its integration into any type of device.
[0007] However, many devices also require a number of functions, especially communication and / or detection functions. Providing dedicated modules for each of these functions results in a system that is both expensive and cumbersome.
[0008] Therefore, there is a need to provide a lighting module that is reliable, cheap and easy to integrate in any type of device while being able to display light patterns and also able to implement communication and / or detection functions. Summary of the invention
[0009] The present invention improves this situation.
[0010] To this end, a first aspect relates to a light emitting module, the light emitting module comprising:
[0011] an assembly of at least one flexible guide plate, wherein each flexible guide plate in the assembly is capable of receiving light via at least one edge of the flexible guide plate and reflecting light in a direction substantially perpendicular to a surface of the flexible guide plate according to at least one pattern etched in the flexible guide plate, wherein the assembly is capable of reflecting light according to at least one pattern etched in the assembly;
[0012] at least one light injection element capable of receiving light and distributing the light within the assembly of at least one flexible guide plate;
[0013] at least one light source capable of injecting light into the at least one light injection element;
[0014] A metal nanomesh forming an antenna and arranged on at least one surface of at least one flexible guide plate of the assembly.
[0015] Thus, the light module according to the invention allows to realize both light functions and functions using antennas (such as detection and / or communication functions), while being easy to integrate in any type of device due to its form of a flexible plate. Furthermore, the use of a flexible guide plate allows to display light patterns over a significant surface area. Furthermore, the light function is not degraded by the antenna, since the antenna is in the form of a nanomesh and is therefore invisible to the naked eye, regardless of the surface of the light module on which the antenna is arranged.
[0016] According to some embodiments, the metal nanomesh may include metal strips less than 100 nanometers in width.
[0017] Therefore, the antenna is not discernible to the naked eye, and thus does not affect the optical function achieved by the light emitting module.
[0018] According to some embodiments, the module may further include a device connected to the metal nanomesh and capable of transmitting and / or receiving radio frequency signals via the metal nanomesh.
[0019] Thus, the lighting module can use the antenna integrated with the optical function to realize the detection and / or communication function.Such a lighting module can thus be integrated into a device with significant space requirement constraints.
[0020] According to one embodiment, the device may be a radar.
[0021] Such an embodiment is particularly advantageous in motor vehicles which use more and more radar-type detection systems, in particular in order to provide input data for driver assistance functions.
[0022] As a variant, the device may be a cellular telecommunications transceiver.
[0023] This variant is advantageous when the lighting module is integrated in a device requiring communication functionality.
[0024] According to some embodiments, each flexible guide plate may include a flexible film having a pattern etched thereon, and at least one protective layer covering the flexible film, wherein the metal nanomesh is disposed on a surface of the protective layer of at least one flexible guide plate.
[0025] Therefore, the protective layer achieves the functions of both protecting the flexible film and supporting the antenna, thereby improving the service life of the light emitting module without reducing its compactness.
[0026] In addition, the protective layer on which the metal nanomesh is arranged may be arranged to be penetrated by the light emitted from the flexible film.
[0027] Thus, the antenna is arranged towards the outside of the light emitting module and therefore towards the outside of the device in which the light emitting module is to be arranged, which increases its efficiency. In case the antenna comprises a nanomesh, it does not affect the display of the light pattern.
[0028] Furthermore, the metal nanomesh may be disposed on an outer surface of the protective layer such that the protective layer is included between the flexible film and the metal nanomesh.
[0029] Therefore, the efficiency of the antenna is maximized.
[0030] According to some embodiments, the light emitting module may include at least one first light injection element and at least one second light injection element, at least one light source may be capable of selectively injecting light into the first light injection element and the second light injection element, and at least one first pattern and at least one second pattern are etched into an assembly of at least one flexible guide plate. The assembly of the first light injection element and the at least one flexible guide plate may be arranged to project light according to a first pattern, and wherein the assembly of the second light injection element and the at least one flexible guide plate may be arranged to project light according to a second pattern.
[0031] Therefore, it is possible to display complex patterns over a large surface area.
[0032] Additionally, the lighting module may include a first light source capable of injecting light into the first light injection element and a second light source capable of injecting light into the second light injection element.
[0033] Each injection element provides a light source to facilitate controlling the selective injection of light into the first injection element and the second injection element.
[0034] Additionally or as a variation, the first injection element may be arranged to inject light into a first segment of an edge of a guide plate of the component, and the second injection element may be arranged to inject light into a second segment of an edge of the flexible guide plate, wherein a first portion of the first segment of the flexible guide plate positioned to face the edge is etched according to a first pattern, and a second portion of the second segment of the flexible guide plate positioned to face the edge is etched according to a second pattern.
[0035] Therefore, several patterns can be selectively displayed on the same flexible guide panel.
[0036] As a variant, the component includes at least one first flexible guide plate and at least one second flexible guide plate, wherein a first pattern is etched in the first flexible guide plate and a second pattern is etched in the second flexible guide plate, a first injection element is arranged to inject light into an edge of the first flexible guide plate, and a second injection element is arranged to inject light into an edge of the second flexible guide plate.
[0037] In these embodiments, a pattern is etched in each flexible guide plate, which allows the pattern to be multiplied in equal flexible guide plates without reducing their size.
[0038] In addition, the first guide plate and the second guide plate may be overlapped in the light emitting module so as to project the first pattern and the second pattern in a common area of the light emitting module.
[0039] Thus, animation can be produced by changing the pattern in the common area.
[0040] As a variant, the first and second flexible guide plates may be placed adjacent to each other so as to project the first and second patterns at different positions.
[0041] Thus, spatial movement of the pattern can be used to create animations, or to project several patterns at once, which increases the number of possible pattern combinations for a given number of flexible guide plates.
[0042] According to some embodiments, the lighting module may further include a control element capable of controlling the at least one source to selectively project light according to the at least one pattern.
[0043] Thus, a single element can selectively control the injection of light into one or more light injection elements of a lighting module, which improves the synchronization of displaying one or more lighting patterns relative to each other.
[0044] According to some embodiments, each flexible guide plate of the assembly may include a polycarbonate (PC), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), thermoplastic polyurethane (TUP), or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film.
[0045] This material allows the creation of transparent flexible guide plates.
[0046] According to some embodiments, each flexible guide plate may include: a film including a microstructure, in which each of the first pattern and the second pattern is etched by ultraviolet printing the microstructure of the film.
[0047] This microstructure allows the pattern to be produced with good resolution while maintaining a high transparency level of the flexible guide plate.
[0048] A second aspect of the invention relates to an external device for a motor vehicle, the external device comprising a lighting module according to the first aspect of the invention.
[0049] According to some embodiments, the device may be a front lighting device for a motor vehicle.
[0050] Additionally or as a variant, the external device may further comprise a sensor capable of detecting a signal from the electromagnetic waves repeated or amplified by the metal nanomesh.
[0051] Therefore, the light emitting module can also realize the function of repeating the signal to facilitate its detection.
[0052] A third aspect of the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a light emitting module, the method comprising the following steps:
[0053] - providing a flexible film roll capable of guiding light across its thickness;
[0054] - etching at least one pattern onto the flexible film roll using UV printing;
[0055] - cutting said roll so as to obtain at least one flexible film of a given size, wherein the flexible film comprises said etching pattern;
[0056] - Obtaining a metal nanomesh forming an antenna;
[0057] - arranging said metal nanomesh on the flexible film so as to form an assembly of at least one flexible guide plate;
[0058] - arranging at least one injection element relative to an assembly of at least one flexible guide plate in order to form a lighting module;
[0059] - at least one light source is arranged in the lighting module so as to inject light into the at least one light injection element.
[0060] According to some embodiments, obtaining a metal nanomesh forming an antenna comprises the following steps:
[0061] - Provide substrate rolls;
[0062] - cutting a portion of the substrate roll;
[0063] - producing the metal nanomesh on the cut portion or on the substrate roll before cutting the portion.
[0064] The metal nanomesh may be disposed on the flexible film through the cut portion deposited with the metal nanomesh to form a protective layer for the etched flexible film.
[0065] Additionally, the metal nanomesh can be produced on the cut portions using photolithography by placing a mask matching the mesh on the cut portions of the roll, or produced on the substrate roll prior to cutting. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0078] The present description focuses on features that distinguish the method or lighting module from those known in the prior art.
[0079] [ Figure 1a] shows a light emitting module 100 according to some embodiments of the present invention.
[0080] The lighting module 100 comprises a flexible guide plate 110 capable of receiving light via an edge 116 and reflecting the light in a direction Z substantially perpendicular to the surface of the flexible guide plate, the flexible guide plate thus being arranged in a direction [ Figure 1a ] extends in the XY plane.
[0081] A guide plate is understood to mean an optical guide element, one of the dimensions of which is much smaller in space than the other two dimensions, for example one or more orders of magnitude smaller. Figure 1a ], a flexible guide plate is considered herein, the thickness of which along the Z-axis is at least two orders of magnitude smaller than its dimension along the XY plane in which the flexible guide plate 110 extends.
[0082] The flexible guide plate 110 may include a flexible film 111 at its core, which includes: at least one edge 116, which is capable of guiding light in the general direction X; and includes a group of microstructures 113, which are capable of reflecting the light guided in the flexible film 111 to the outside of the flexible guide plate 110, especially in one or more directions substantially along the Z axis.
[0083] The flexible film 111 may be a substrate film made of polycarbonate (PC), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), thermoplastic polyurethane (TUP), or polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The thickness of the flexible film 111 (i.e., the dimension along the Z axis) may be in a range between 12 micrometers and 1,000 micrometers. More specifically, the thickness of the flexible film 111 may be in a range between 50 micrometers and 1,000 micrometers, for example, between 200 micrometers and 500 micrometers. As a variant, the thickness of the flexible guide plate 110 is in a range between 200 micrometers and 1,000 micrometers.
[0084] The above materials, in combination with the limited thickness as described above, allow obtaining a flexible membrane 111. Other materials may be considered for the composition of the flexible membrane 111. However, it is preferred according to the invention to provide a deformable and transparent material.
[0085] The thin coating of microstructures 113 may be applied to one of the faces of the flexible film 111 or may be integrated in the flexible film 111. The thickness of the coating of microstructures 113 along the Z axis may in particular be less than 20 micrometers.
[0086] Such microstructures 113 may take the general shape of bumps on which light is reflected in a direction substantially along the Z axis. Such microstructures 113 may allow the light leaving the flexible film 111 to be patterned. To this end, the microstructures 113 may be etched by UV printing according to the desired pattern.
[0087] Microstructures 113 are understood to mean structures or irregularities of the flexible film whose dimensions are less than a few micrometers. Thus, microstructures also cover nanostructures. Microstructures 113 of such size ensure a high transparency of the flexible film 111. In particular, a transparency of about 97% can be obtained in practice by using microstructures 113. As a variant, the flexible guide plate can be translucent or opaque.
[0088] Advantageously, the microstructures 113 may be distributed along the X-axis such that the linear density of the microstructures 113 is proportional to the distance from the edge 116 via which the light injected by the injection element 120 is received. In other words, the farther the microstructures 113 are from the edge 116, the denser they are grouped together. This distribution advantageously ensures that the light intensity of the pattern emitted by the flexible guide plate 110 is uniformly distributed along the X-axis.
[0089] The flexible guide plate 110 may further comprise one or two protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 that allow the flexible film 111 to be encapsulated and mechanically protected. Furthermore, at least one of the protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 may optionally comprise an anti-UV treatment in order to protect the flexible film from UV rays once the microstructures 113 have been etched. Without such UV protection, the pattern projected by the flexible guide plate 110 may degrade over time, especially when the flexible guide plate is exposed to light from the sun.
[0090] The flexible film 111 and the protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 are in [ Figure 1a ] are shown as spaced apart, purely for illustration purposes. However, it will be understood that the protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 may be attached to the flexible film, in particular by rolling. The lighting module 100 may only include [ Figure 1a ] is one of the protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 shown.
[0091] According to the invention, at least one of the protective layers 112.1 and 112.2 comprises a metal nanomesh 114 forming an antenna. Such an antenna in the XY plane is also called a patch antenna. Such an antenna may form part of a wireless communication device, such as a cellular transceiver (e.g. 3G, 4G, 5G, or any next generation), or may form part of a detection device (e.g. a radar).
[0092] This metal nanomesh 114 is invisible to the naked eye, which allows the protective layer 112.1 or 112.2 on which the mesh is deposited to be transparent. Figure 1a ] As shown, the mesh 114 can be arranged on a protective layer 112.1, through which the light reflected by the flexible film 111 passes.
[0093] The transparency rate of the protective layer covered with the mesh 114 may be about 98%.
[0094] Therefore, when the mesh is arranged on the protective layer 112.1, the antenna function is maximized because the protective layer 112.1 is oriented toward the outside of the light emitting module 100, without deteriorating the optical function achieved by the flexible film 111 illuminated according to a given pattern. The mesh 114 can be arranged on the inner surface of the protective layer 112.1, or between the protective layer 112.1 and the flexible film 111, or can be arranged on the outer surface of the protective layer 112.1, as shown in [ Figure 1a ] As shown. Similarly, as a variant, the mesh 114 may be arranged on the inner surface of the protective layer 112.2, or between the protective layer 112.2 and the flexible film 111, or may be arranged on the outer surface of the protective layer 112.2.
[0095] Like the flexible film 111, the protective layer including the mesh 114 may be flexible and thus may be made of materials such as PMMA, PET, PC, etc. For example, the protective layer may be made of the same material as the flexible film 111. As a variant, the material of the protective layer may be rigid and may be any plastic or glass-based material.
[0096] According to some embodiments, the antenna formed by the mesh 114 may be capable of transmitting and / or receiving radio frequency signals in a frequency range between 1 MHz and 100 GHz, such as in a range between 400 MHz and 92 GHz.
[0097] By circulating electrical current through the mesh 114, the mesh 114 may also perform a defrost function, which is particularly advantageous when the lighting module is exposed to changing weather conditions, especially when the lighting module is installed in a device such as a lighting device for a motor vehicle.
[0098] Since the guide plate 110 is flexible, it is not necessarily included in a plane but may be bent depending on where it is placed and the mechanical stress applied thereto.
[0099] [ Figure 1a ] also includes a light injection element 120 (also referred to as a light strip), because the light injection element extends longitudinally in the direction Y and is capable of extending in a direction perpendicular to its longitudinal direction (e.g., in a direction perpendicular to its longitudinal direction). Figure 1a ] when arranged in the manner shown, light is injected along the X-axis).
[0100] The light injection element 120 is Figure 1a ] has a rectangular or square cross-section. However, the light injection element 120 may have a circular, elliptical or polygonal cross-section.
[0101] Therefore, the light injection element 120 includes an exit surface 122 extending in the longitudinal direction and capable of injecting light in a direction substantially perpendicular to the exit surface 122. The light injection element 120 further includes an incident surface 121 capable of receiving light from the light source 130 at one end of the light injection element 120, and the light injection element 120 is capable of guiding the light longitudinally along the Y axis by distributing the light on the exit surface 122. According to [ Figure 2 ] will provide a better understanding of the light distribution through the exit surface 122.
[0102] There are no restrictions on the light source 130. For example, it can be a light source of the LED type, for example, which has the advantages of being small, having low energy consumption and having low heat accumulation. The light source 130 may be able to generate light in a wavelength range. This range can be centered on visible colors in order to produce colored light, such as blue, red or green. As a variant, the light source 130 can emit light across the entire wavelength range visible to the human eye in order to produce white light. Laser-type light sources 130 can produce a very narrow wavelength range.
[0103] As a variant, the light source 130 is not arranged directly facing the incident surface 121 of the injection element 120, but the lighting module 100 further comprises an optical fiber placed between the source 130 and the injection element 120, thereby moving the source 130 relative to the assembly formed by the injection element 120 and the flexible guide plate 110.
[0104] [ Figure 1b ] shows a side view of a light emitting module according to some embodiments of the present invention in an XZ plane of a protective layer 112.1 covered with a metal nanomesh 114.
[0105] The thickness of the protective layer 112 . 1 , ie the dimension along the Z axis, may be of the order of millimeters, for example ranging between 0.5 mm and 2 mm, in particular equal to 1.1 mm.
[0106] The thickness of the web 114 along the Z axis may be of the order of micrometers, for example ranging between 1 micrometer and 5 micrometers, in particular equal to 3 micrometers.
[0107] There is no limitation on the metal of the mesh 114, and the metal may be copper, silver, platinum, aluminum, or nickel.
[0108] The lighting module 100 may further comprise a device 115 capable of receiving and / or transmitting signals via an antenna formed by the mesh 114. The device 115 may be, for example, a radar or a communication transceiver, such as a cellular transceiver. As a variant, the device 115 is an interface between the mesh 114 and a module capable of receiving and / or transmitting signals via an antenna, and in [ Figure 1b ] not shown.
[0109] [ Figure 1c ] shows a top view of a light emitting module according to some embodiments of the present invention in an XZ plane of a metal nanomesh 114 covering a protective film 112.1.
[0110] The network 114 is therefore distributed in [ Figure 1c ] is shown on the hatched surface. Therefore, the entire hatched surface is not covered with metal, but with metal nanostrips, or more generally with metal patterns with nanometer dimensions, so that the metal mesh 114 forms a nanogrid that is invisible to the naked eye. Therefore, when the substrate on which the mesh 114 is deposited is transparent, as is the case with the protective layer 112.1, the substrate covered with the mesh 114 can be seen through.
[0111] The surface covered by the mesh 114 may be about several tens of millimeters, for example about 300 mm. Figure 1c ] can be a square with 300 mm sides. However, there is no limitation on the size or shape of the surface covered by the mesh 114 according to the invention. The geometry of the antenna thus formed by the metal mesh is related to the value of the detection frequency. In fact, if the detection frequency is in the range of the order of gigahertz (GHz), the size of the antenna formed is about 300 mm. In the terahertz (THz) field range, the size of the antenna is less than a few microns, where 1 THz corresponds to a wavelength of 333 microns.
[0112] [ Figure 1d ] shows an exploded view or an enlarged view of the mesh 114 relative to the previous figures in order to distinguish the nanometal strips 116 forming the mesh 114. These strips 116 can have a nanometer width equal to, for example, several tens of nanometers, in particular equal to 50 nanometers. These strips 116 can be made by etching a nanometer-sized metal substrate pattern side by side. Another function that such a metal nanomesh can allow is to promote the emission of waves in front of the light-emitting module, which means that the mesh acts as a signal amplifier or repeater. It can thus promote the reception of a signal by another sensor integrated in a device comprising the light-emitting module or in a device near the light-emitting module, such as a vehicle headlight.
[0113] [ Figure 1e ] shows an injection element 120 of a light emitting module 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0114] The injection element 120 may include a plurality of injection guides 123 capable of receiving light from the source 130 via the incident surface 121 and guiding the light to a longitudinal position of the exit surface 122, wherein the longitudinal positions of the light guides are different so as to distribute the light to at least several longitudinal positions of the exit surface 122.
[0115] This allows light to be injected at different longitudinal positions along the Y-axis on the edge 116. Each longitudinal position of the edge 116 may correspond to a guide line of the flexible film 111 that is capable of guiding light along such guide line along the X-axis.
[0116] This association of the flexible guide plate 110 , the injection element 120 and the source 130 thus allows to project light in the Z direction via a flexible, transparent, translucent or opaque surface with good surface homogeneity and according to a given pattern.
[0117] In practice, such a lighting module may allow emitting patterns with brightness ranging between 100 and 1,000 candela per square meter, wherein the light extraction efficiency may vary between 25% and 80%.
[0118] Details regarding the structure and arrangement of these elements 110 , 120 , and 130 are further described in the international patent application published under number WO 2011 / 130715 A2.
[0119] Therefore, the lighting module according to the present invention comprises:
[0120] - At least one guide plate (such as [ Figure 1a ] wherein the component is capable of reflecting light according to at least one pattern;
[0121] - at least one light injection element, which can be a reference Figure 1a and Figure 1b The described injection element 120; and
[0122] - at least one light source (such as reference [ Figure 1a ] described light source 130), the at least one light source is capable of selectively injecting light into the at least one injection element;
[0123] A metal nanomesh forming an antenna, such as a mesh 114 at least partially arranged on the surface of the flexible guiding plate 110 .
[0124] Thus, such a light emitting module 100 can be easily integrated into any type of device, including in automotive devices containing non-planar and difficult to reach surfaces, while further performing the antenna function without degrading the pattern displayed by the flexible guide plate. Thus, the compactness associated with the device in which the light emitting module 100 is integrated is improved. Due to the amount of cables required, signaling modules and communication modules are currently difficult to install in the same space. Therefore, the light emitting module 100 according to the present invention allows a significant increase in compactness.
[0125] A "pattern" is understood to mean any predefined spatial distribution of the luminous intensity emitted by the light-emitting module. In particular, reference is made herein to a two-dimensional pattern or a one-dimensional pattern. Thus, the pattern may be a two-dimensional shape or symbol obtained by the contrast between the luminous intensity at different positions in the XY plane of the flexible guide plate 110. The pattern may also comprise a plurality of shapes or symbols. Alternatively, the pattern covers a predefined or intentional spatial distribution of the luminous intensity which does not result in the appearance of any overall shape, such as a distribution resulting in a cloud of luminous points. In the context of the present invention, the pattern is formed by injecting light into an injection element which is arranged relative to the flexible guide plate so as to form a pattern on the flexible guide plate.
[0126] Specific embodiments of the present invention are described below.
[0127] [ Figure 2 ] shows a light emitting module 200 according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
[0128] The light emitting module 200 includes the Figure 1a and Figure 1b The flexible guide plate 210, injection element 220 and light source 230 are similar to the flexible guide plate 110, injection element 120 and light source 130 described above. Thus, the flexible guide plate 210 includes the mesh 114 as described above, although in [ Figure 2 ] not shown.
[0129] The flexible guide plate 210 is etched according to a pattern 250 comprising rectangular light emitting areas to be able to reflect light injected by the injection element 220 after activation of the light source 230. There is no restriction on the geometry of the pattern 250, which is more generally as defined previously.
[0130] According to some embodiments, when the light emitting module 250 is integrated in such a lighting device (especially a lighting device for a motor vehicle), the light emitting area 250 can be arranged to face the optical projection surface of the lighting device. The light emitting area 250 can also be shaped to overlap with the optical projection surface of the lighting device.
[0131] Advantageously, the light source 430 is controlled by the control element 240. Thus, the light source 230 can be activated or deactivated in order to control the display of the pattern 250.
[0132] Thus, in a first embodiment, the light emitting module comprises a single flexible guide plate, a single injection element and a single light source.
[0133] [ Figure 3 ] shows a light emitting module 300 according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
[0134] In a second embodiment, several injection elements are arranged to inject light into the same flexible guide plate, the flexible guide plate comprising several patterns.
[0135] In particular, in [ Figure 3 ] in the example, the first injection element 320 . 1 and the second injection element 320 . 2 are arranged so as to inject light into the edge 314 of the flexible guide plate 310 .
[0136] The first injection element 320.1 and the second injection element 320.2 may be similar to the reference Figure 1a and Figure 1b Similarly, the flexible guide plate 310 may correspond to the flexible guide plate 110 described above. Thus, the flexible guide plate 310 includes the mesh 114 as described above, although in [ Figure 3 ] not shown.
[0137] like[ Figure 3 ] As shown in FIG. 3 , the first injection element 320.1 and the second injection element 320.2 are arranged so as to inject light into the edge 314 at different longitudinal positions along the Y-axis.
[0138] It should be noted that since the guide plate 310 is flexible, the guide plate may not be flat but may be curved. Figure 3 ] shows the light emitting module 300 when the guide plate is flat (eg, placed on a flat rigid support).
[0139] Thus, the first injection element 320.1 can inject light into the edge 314 which is then guided by the flexible guide plate 310 into the first part 315.1 of the flexible guide plate 310. The second injection element 320.2 can inject light into the edge 314 which is then guided into the second part 315.2 of the flexible guide plate 310.
[0140] To this end, the first source 330.1 is arranged facing the incident surface of the first injection element 320.1 so that the light propagates within the first injection element 320.1 and thus propagates towards the first portion 315.1 of the flexible guide plate 310. The second source 330.2 is arranged facing the incident surface of the second injection element 320.2 so that the light propagates within the second injection element 320.2 and thus propagates towards the second portion 315.2 of the flexible guide plate 310.
[0141] As a variant, a single source may be provided and the lighting module 300 comprises a first optical fiber capable of transmitting light from the single source to the entrance surface of the first injection element 320.1 and a second optical fiber capable of transmitting light from the single source to the entrance surface of the second injection element 320.2.
[0142] The first source 330.1 and the second source 330.2 or a single source may selectively inject into the first injection element 320.1 and / or into the second injection element 320.2. Such selective injection may be controlled by a control element 340 connected to or controlling the power supply to the two sources 330.1 and 330.2.
[0143] A first pattern 316.1 is etched in the first portion 315.1, and a second pattern 316.2 is etched in the second portion 315.2. Selective injection of light into the first injection element 320.1 and / or the second injection element 320.2 thus allows the first pattern to be projected, the second pattern to be projected, neither of these patterns to be projected, or both patterns to be projected simultaneously, thereby allowing animation to be generated from at least the first pattern and the second pattern by dynamic control.
[0144] exist[ Figure 3 ], the first pattern 316.1 and the second pattern 316.2 have different shapes. However, according to the definition of patterns provided above, these patterns can be any intentional or predetermined spatial variation of luminous intensity. In addition, when the patterns are shapes, the first pattern 316.1 and the second pattern 316.2 can have the same shape. The animation is then achieved by the spatial movement of the pattern from the first part 315.1 to the second part 315.2, or vice versa. In addition, when the sources 330.1 and 330.2 generate light of different colors, the color projected for each pattern can vary.
[0145] [ Figure 3 ] has shown an example with two patterns and two injection elements. However, the second embodiment also covers a light emitting module having a flexible guide plate with three or more parts and having at least three injection elements, wherein each part comprises an etched pattern, wherein each injection element is placed facing one of the parts.
[0146] A dedicated source can be provided for each injection element for this purpose, or a single source with several optical fibers can be provided for this purpose.
[0147] [ Figure 4 ] shows a light emitting module 400 according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
[0148] In a third embodiment of the present invention, the light emitting module 400 comprises at least one first flexible guide plate 410.1 and at least one second flexible guide plate 410.2, wherein the two flexible guide plates are overlapped, which means that at least a portion of the first flexible guide plate 410.1 in the XY plane overlaps with at least a portion of the second flexible guide plate 410.2 in a common area corresponding to a set of positions in the XY plane.
[0149] Preferably, the first flexible guide plate 410.1 and the second flexible guide plate 410.2 have the same size in the XY plane and are completely superimposed.
[0150] It should be noted that due to the flexibility of the guide plate, the guide plate may not be flat but may be curved. Figure 4 ] shows the light emitting module 400 when the guide plate is flat (eg, stacked on a flat support).
[0151] Such superposition is particularly advantageous since, as described above, the flexible guide plate is preferably transparent.
[0152] Thus, the first flexible guide sheet 410.1 and the second flexible guide sheet 410.2 are capable of projecting a first pattern 416.1 and a second pattern 416.2, respectively, in a common area.
[0153] The first injection element 420.1 is arranged to inject light into an edge of the first flexible guide plate 410.1 and the second injection element 420.2 is able and arranged to inject light into an edge of the second guide plate 410.2.
[0154] The first injection element 420.1 and the second injection element 420.2 may be similar to the reference Figure 1a and Figure 1b Similarly, at least one of the flexible guide plates 410.1 and 410.2 may correspond to the flexible guide plate 110 described above. Preferably, only one of the flexible guide plates 410.1 and 410.2 comprises a mesh 114 forming an antenna as described above, although in [ Figure 3Preferably, the flexible guide plate located above the light emitting module (ie, toward the outside of the light emitting module) comprises a mesh 114, ie, the second flexible guide plate 410.2. Thus, the function of the antenna formed by the mesh 114 to receive / transmit signals is optimized.
[0155] The first source 430.1 is arranged to face the incident surface of the first injection element 420.1 so that the light propagates within the first injection element 420.1 and thus propagates towards the first flexible guide plate 410.1. The second source 430.2 is arranged to face the incident surface of the second injection element 420.2 so that the light propagates within the second injection element 420.2 and thus propagates towards the second flexible guide plate 410.2.
[0156] As a variant, a single source may be provided and the lighting module comprises a first optical fiber capable of conveying light from the single source to the entrance surface of the first injection element 420.1 and a second optical fiber capable of conveying light from the single source to the entrance surface of the second injection element 420.2.
[0157] The first source 430.1 and the second source 430.2 or a single source may selectively inject into the first injection element 420.1 and / or into the second injection element 420.2. Such selective injection may be controlled by a control element 440 connected to or controlling the power supply to the two sources 430.1 and 430.2.
[0158] A first pattern 416.1 is etched in the first flexible guide plate 410.1, and a second pattern 416.2 is etched in the second flexible guide plate 410.2. Selective injection of light into the first injection element 420.1 and / or the second injection element 420.2 thus allows the first pattern to be projected, the second pattern to be projected, neither of these patterns to be projected, or both patterns to be projected simultaneously, thereby allowing animation to be generated from at least the first pattern and the second pattern by dynamic control.
[0159] exist[ Figure 4 ], for illustrative purposes, the first pattern 416.1 and the second pattern 416.2 have different shapes and are similar to [ Figure 3 ] are identical to the patterns 316.1 and 316.2 of the source 430.1. However, according to the definition of pattern provided above, these patterns can be any intentional or predetermined spatial distribution of luminous intensity. In addition, in the case where the pattern is a shape, the first pattern 416.1 and the second pattern 416.2 can have the same shape but different colors. In fact, when the sources 430.1 and 430.2 generate light of different colors, the color projected for each pattern respectively can vary.
[0160] [ Figure 4] has shown an example with two patterns, two injection elements and two flexible guide plates. However, the third embodiment also covers a lighting module with at least three flexible guide plates, with at least three injection elements, wherein each injection element is placed facing one of the flexible guide plates and one of the flexible guide plates comprises a mesh 114. A dedicated source for each injection element may be provided for this, or a single source with several optical fibers may be provided for this.
[0161] At least one of the flexible guide plates may be transparent. As a variant, according to the third embodiment, the flexible guide plate located below the light emitting module 400 (i.e., the first flexible guide plate 410.1) may be opaque or translucent. Conversely, the second flexible guide plate 410.2 is transparent or translucent so as to allow at least a portion of the light emitted by the first flexible guide plate 410.2 to pass through.
[0162] [ Figure 5 ] shows a light emitting module 500 according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention.
[0163] In a fourth embodiment of the present invention, the light emitting module 500 comprises at least one first flexible guide plate 510.1 and at least one second flexible guide plate 510.2, wherein the two flexible guide plates are placed adjacent to each other and the two flexible guide plates are therefore capable of projecting light from different positions in the XY plane in which the flexible guide plates mainly extend.
[0164] It should be noted that due to the flexibility of the guide plate, the guide plate may not be flat but may be curved. Figure 5 ] shows the light emitting module 500 when the flexible guide plate is flat (eg, placed on a flat rigid support).
[0165] Thus, the first flexible guide plate 510.1 is capable of projecting a first pattern (not shown) at a first position on the XY plane, and the second flexible guide plate 510.2 is capable of projecting a second pattern 516.2 at a second position on the XY plane, wherein the first position and the second position are different, for example, adjacent to each other. Each projected pattern may include a symbol or a portion of a symbol. When the pattern of a flexible guide plate includes a portion of a symbol, the portion may match another portion of the symbol formed by the pattern of another flexible guide plate, or match other portions of the symbol formed by the pattern of the other flexible guide plate.
[0166] The first injection element 520.1 is arranged to inject light into an edge of the first flexible guide plate 510.1 and the second injection element 520.2 is able and arranged to inject light into an edge of the second guide plate 510.2.
[0167] The relative arrangement of the injection element and the flexible guide plate is in accordance with the explanations set out above and for [ Figure 5 ]The fourth embodiment of the present invention will not be described in detail.
[0168] The first injection element 520.1 and the second injection element 520.2 can be similar to the reference Figure 1a and Figure 1b Similarly, at least one of the flexible guide plates 510.1 and 510.2 may correspond to the flexible guide plate 110 described above. Preferably, only one of the flexible guide plates 510.1 and 510.2 comprises a mesh 114 forming an antenna as described above, although in [ Figure 4 ] is not shown. In this case, the other flexible guide plates are similar to the flexible guide plate 110 described above, except that they do not include the mesh 114.
[0169] The first source 530.1 is arranged to face the incident surface of the first injection element 520.1 so that the light propagates within the first injection element 520.1 and thus propagates towards the first flexible guide plate 510.1. The second source 530.2 is arranged to face the incident surface of the second injection element 520.2 so that the light propagates within the second injection element 520.2 and thus propagates towards the second flexible guide plate 510.2.
[0170] As a variant, a single source may be provided and the lighting module 500 comprises a first optical fiber capable of delivering light from the single source to the entrance surface of the first injection element 520.1 and a second optical fiber capable of delivering light from the single source to the entrance surface of the second injection element 520.2.
[0171] The first source 530.1 and the second source 530.2 or a single source may selectively inject light into the first injection element 520.1 and / or into the second injection element 520.2. This selective injection may be controlled by a control element 540 connected to or controlling the power supply to the two sources 530.1 and 530.2.
[0172] A first pattern is etched in the first flexible guide plate 510.1 and a second pattern is etched in the second flexible guide plate 510.2. Selective injection of light into the first injection element 520.1 and / or the second injection element 520.2 thus allows the first pattern to be projected, the second pattern to be projected, neither of these patterns to be projected, or both patterns to be projected simultaneously, thereby allowing animation to be generated from at least the first pattern and the second pattern by dynamic control.
[0173] exist[ Figure 5], for illustrative purposes only, a light emitting module 500 including twelve flexible guide plates arranged in a matrix with three rows and four columns, twelve injection elements and twelve light sources has been shown.
[0174] In the third embodiment, there is no limit to the number of flexible guide plates. Therefore, the third embodiment is applicable to N flexible guide plates, N corresponding associated injection elements, and N light emitting sources or a single source connected to N injection elements by N optical fibers, where N is any integer greater than or equal to 2.
[0175] Additionally, there are no restrictions on the arrangement of the flexible guide plates relative to each other. When positioned in a matrix, there are no restrictions on the number of rows or columns.
[0176] The first pattern and the second pattern may take different shapes and may be, for example, Figure 3 ] are identical to the patterns 316.1 and 316.2. However, according to the definition of pattern provided above, these patterns can be any spatial distribution of luminous intensity. In addition, when the patterns are shapes, the first pattern and the second pattern can have the same shape but different colors. In fact, when the sources 530.1 and 530.2 generate light of different colors, the color projected for each pattern can vary.
[0177] The flexible guiding plates may be connected to each other by a support matrix structure, which itself may be flexible. As a variant, each flexible guiding plate may be connected to the surrounding flexible guiding plate by fastening means, by bonding, clamping, clipping, or any other method.
[0178] The components of the light source can be controlled by a control element 540 via a set of wires, each of which connects the control element 540 to the light source. The wires can be supported by a structure 550 that allows the wires to be concentrated and routed toward the control element, thereby reducing the space occupied, and also allows the wires to be shielded.
[0179] In the XY plane, there is no restriction on the size of the flexible guide plates. For example, each flexible guide plate can be rectangular or square, with at least one dimension ranging between 2 cm and 10 cm. For example, the flexible guide plate is square or rectangular, with:
[0180] - a size ranging between 2 cm and 10 cm, for example between 2 cm and 5 cm, for example equal to 5 cm; and
[0181] - Another dimension ranging between 2 cm and 10 cm, for example between 2 cm and 5 cm, for example equal to 5 cm.
[0182] For example, each flexible guide plate is a square of 3 cm by 3 cm.
[0183] The second, third and fourth embodiments have been described exclusively with respect to each other. However, it should be noted that these three embodiments can be combined in the same lighting module, in particular:
[0184] - the second embodiment and the third embodiment may be combined: at least two flexible guide plates are superimposed, and one of the two flexible guide plates is associated with two light injection guides capable of selectively injecting light into two different parts of the guide plate, wherein two patterns are respectively etched in the two parts, and one of the flexible guide plates comprises a metal nanomesh 114 forming an antenna;
[0185] - the second embodiment and the fourth embodiment may be combined: at least two flexible guide plates are placed adjacent to each other, and one of the two flexible guide plates is associated with two light injection guides capable of selectively injecting light into two different parts of the guide plate, wherein two patterns are respectively etched in the two parts, and one of the flexible guide plates comprises a metal nanomesh 114 forming an antenna;
[0186] The third embodiment and the fourth embodiment may be combined: at least two flexible guide plates are placed adjacent to each other, and one of the two flexible guide plates overlaps with a third flexible guide plate of the light emitting module, and one of the flexible guide plates includes a metal nanomesh 114 forming an antenna;
[0187] -The second embodiment, the third embodiment and the fourth embodiment can be combined: at least two flexible guide plates are placed adjacent to each other, and one of the two flexible guide plates is overlapped with a third flexible guide plate of the light-emitting module, and one of the three flexible guide plates is associated with two light injection guides, which are capable of selectively injecting light into two different parts of the guide plate, wherein two patterns are respectively etched in the two parts, and one of the flexible guide plates includes a metal nanomesh 114 forming an antenna.
[0188] [ Figure 6 ] shows a device 600 comprising a light emitting module 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 according to any of the previously described embodiments.
[0189] There is no limitation on the device 600. Preferably, the device 600 is an external device for a motor vehicle.
[0190] For example, device 600 may be a front or rear lighting device or a signaling device for a motor vehicle. Thus, light, signaling, communication or aesthetic functions may be implemented simultaneously with antenna functions for radar or communication (e.g., cellular, applications).
[0191] In the case where the device 600 is a front lighting device for a motor vehicle, the light modules 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 can be arranged in front of a light module of the lighting device that realizes a given function, and when the light module is turned off, it may be possible to generate a light pattern in the shape of the light module. Thus, the light signature of the lighting device can be coordinated regardless of whether the light module is turned on or not. This coordination can be performed in particular between day and night.
[0192] As previously indicated, the metal nanomesh can repeat or amplify electromagnetic waves to facilitate their detection by sensors of the device 600 or another device (not shown).
[0193] [ Figure 7 ] is a simplified diagram showing the steps of a method for manufacturing a light-emitting module according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0194] The manufacturing method comprises a step 700 of obtaining a flexible film roll capable of guiding light across its thickness, such as that described in [ Figure 1a ] The flexible film 111 described above. For example, at least one dimension of the roll is greater than about ten centimeters or even greater than one meter. Preferably, the width of the roll is of the order of tens of centimeters or one meter, and has a greater length, for example greater than one meter. However, the thickness of the roll is small and equal to the thickness of the flexible film described above, so that several flexible guide plates can be obtained by cutting the roll.
[0195] During step 701, at least one pattern is etched onto the roll by UV printing. Thus, microstructures (such as the above-mentioned microstructures 111) are formed on the surface of the flexible film, wherein the microstructures are capable of reflecting light guided in the flexible film towards the outside of the flexible film, in particular in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane in which the flexible film extends when the flexible film is placed on a flat rigid support. The same pattern can in particular be etched onto the flexible film roll at regular intervals.
[0196] During a step 702 , the roll is cut so as to obtain flexible films of given dimensions onto which a pattern is etched.
[0197] During a step 703 , a metal nanomesh forming an antenna is obtained.
[0198] During step 704, the metal nanomesh forming the antenna is arranged relative to the cut flexible film to form at least one flexible guide plate. During step 704, several flexible guide plates with the same or different patterns can also be obtained to be subsequently superimposed according to the third embodiment, or arranged adjacent to each other according to the fourth embodiment.
[0199] During step 705, at least one injection element is arranged relative to at least one previously cut assembly of flexible guide plates. As described above, according to the second, third and fourth embodiments, several injection elements may be arranged relative to one or more flexible guide plates.
[0200] At least one light source is arranged to inject light into the at least one injection element during step 706. As described above, a light source may be dedicated to each injection element, in which case, for the second and third embodiments, a light source is added to each component, or alternatively, a single light source is connected to the injection element via a respective optical fiber.
[0201] Step 703 of obtaining the metal nanomesh 114 may include, for example, the following sub-steps:
[0202] - During a step 710 , a substrate roll is obtained;
[0203] - During step 711, a portion of the substrate roll is cut. Preferably, the size of the cut portion is the same as the size of the flexible film cut during step 702;
[0204] - During step 712, a metal nanomesh 114 is produced on the cut portion of the substrate. For example, the metal nanomesh 114 can be produced using photolithography, by placing a mask of matching shape on the cut portion of the substrate, and by etching the substrate with the metal of the metal nanomesh 114.
[0205] Thus, during step 704, the portion of the substrate cut with the web 114 is arranged on the flexible film, for example by rolling, so as to form a protective layer for the flexible film and thus produce a flexible guide plate 110, as described in reference [ Figure 1a ] described.
[0206] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above by way of example; it extends to other variants.
