[0064] For reference, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the electrochemical device 20 is defined as including both a water electrolysis stack configured to decompose water through an electrochemical reaction to produce hydrogen and oxygen and a fuel cell stack configured to produce electrical energy through a chemical reaction of a fuel (e.g., hydrogen).

[0065] Hereinafter, an example will be described in which the filter apparatus 10 for an electrochemical device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is configured to filter out ions and foreign substances (impurities) contained in a target fluid (reactant) (eg, water) to be supplied to a water electrolysis stack.

[0066] A water electrolysis stack (electrochemical device) may be configured by stacking a plurality of unit cells in a reference stacking direction.

[0067] More specifically, the unit cell may include a reaction layer (not shown) and separators (not shown) stacked on one surface and the other surface of the reaction layer. [0072] The first porous transport layer and the second porous transport layer may uniformly distribute the target fluid and each have a porous structure having pores of a predetermined size.

[0073] For reference, water (target fluid) supplied to the anode layer as an oxidation electrode for water electrolysis is separated into hydrogen ions (protons), electrons and oxygen. Then, the hydrogen ions move to the cathode layer as a reduction electrode through the electrolyte membrane, and the electrons move to the cathode through an external circuit. In addition, oxygen can be discharged through the anode outlet, and the hydrogen ions and electrons can be converted into hydrogen at the cathode.

For example, the sixth three-way valve 360 may have a structure that is the same as or similar to that of the first three-way valve 310 described above.

[0117] The moving path of the target fluid may be variously changed according to the required conditions and the remaining life of the filter component, etc. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the moving path of the target fluid.

[0118] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a filtering device 10 for an electrochemical device may include: a first ion sensor 410, located on the upstream side of a first filter component 110, disposed in a supply line 30, and configured to sense the ionic conductivity of a target fluid; a second ion sensor 420, located between the first filter component 110 and the second filter component 120, disposed in the supply line 30, and configured to sense the ionic conductivity of the target fluid; a third ion sensor 430, located between the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130, disposed in the supply line 30, and configured to sense the ionic conductivity of the target fluid; and a fourth ion sensor 440, located on the downstream side of the third filter component 130, disposed in the supply line 30, and configured to sense the ionic conductivity of the target fluid.

[0119] Various ion sensors capable of sensing ionic conductivity of the target fluid may be used as the first to fourth ion sensors 410, 420, 430, and 440. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the types and structures of the first to fourth ion sensors 410, 420, 430, and 440.

[0120] The movement path of the target fluid may be defined based on the sensing results of the first ion sensor 410 , the second ion sensor 420 , the third ion sensor 430 , and the fourth ion sensor 440 .

[0121] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the order in which the target fluid passes through the first, second, and third filter components 110 , 120 , and 130 may be defined based on sensing results of the first, second, third, and fourth ion sensors 410 , 420 , 430 , and 440 .

[0122] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, based on the sensing results of the first ion sensor 410, the second ion sensor 420, the third ion sensor 430 and the fourth ion sensor 440, the target fluid can be defined as moving along any one of the following paths: a first serial path, passing through the first filter component 110, the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130 in sequence (first filter component→second filter component→third filter component); a second serial path, passing through the second filter component 120, the third filter component 130 and the first filter component 110 in sequence (second filter component→third filter component→first filter component); and a third serial path, passing through the third filter component 130, the first filter component 110 and the second filter component 120 in sequence (third filter component→first filter component→second filter component).

[0123] Reference Figure 2 , the target fluid can be substantially defined to move along a first serial path that sequentially passes through the first filter component 110 , the second filter component 120 , and the third filter component 130 (first filter component→second filter component→third filter component).

[0124] When the target fluid moves along the first serial path, the first to sixth three-way valves 310 , 320 , 330 , 340 , 350 and 360 are controlled so that the target fluid can be prevented from flowing from the supply line 30 to the first to fifth bypass lines 210 , 220 , 230 , 240 and 250 .

[0125] On the other hand, when the target fluid moves along the first serial path, the first filter component 110 disposed on the most upstream side among the first to third filter components 110, 120 and 130 filters the most polluted water, and the first filter component 110 is used more frequently than the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130 disposed on the downstream side, so that the life of the first filter component 110 may be shortened faster.

[0126] When the difference between the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the first ion sensor 410 and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the second ion sensor 420 (the difference between the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the upstream side of the first filter component and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the downstream side of the first filter component) is within a preset reference range, it can be determined that the end of the life of the first filter component 110 has been reached.

[0127] When the remaining life of the first filter component 110 is less than the preset reference life, Figure 3 The first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 are controlled so that the target fluid can move along a second serial path, which passes through the second filter component 120, the third filter component 130 and the first filter component 110 in sequence (second filter component→third filter component→first filter component).

[0128] More specifically, the second serial path may be defined as a path sequentially passing through the first bypass line 210 →the second filter component 120 →the third filter component 130 →the second bypass line 220 →the first filter component 110 →the third bypass line 230 .

[0129] Through the above method, when the difference between the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the first ion sensor 410 and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the third ion sensor 430 (the difference between the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the upstream side of the second filter component and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the downstream side of the second filter component) is within a preset reference range, it can be determined that the end of the life of the second filter component 120 has been reached.

[0130] When the remaining life of the second filter component 120 is less than the preset reference life, Figure 4 The first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 are controlled so that the target fluid can move along a third serial path, which passes through the third filter component 130, the first filter component 110 and the second filter component 120 in sequence (third filter component→first filter component→second filter component).

[0131] More specifically, the third serial path may be defined as a path sequentially passing through the first bypass line 210 →the fourth bypass line 240 →the third filter element 130 →the second bypass line 220 →the first filter element 110 →the second filter element 120 →the fifth bypass line 250 →the third bypass line 230 .

[0132] As described above, in the embodiment of the present disclosure, the target fluid moves along the first serial path, the second serial path and the third serial path in sequence. Therefore, the replacement cycle (lifespan) of the filter component can be unified and the replacement cycle (lifespan) of the filter component can be extended.

[0133] For example, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, when the target fluid moves along the first serial path for a predetermined time or longer, the ion filter (e.g., the first filter component) that is disposed on the most upstream side and reaches the end of its life first is disposed on the most downstream side of the moving path of the target fluid (e.g., disposed on the most downstream side among the first to third filter components). Therefore, the advantageous effect of unifying the replacement cycle (life) of the filter components and extending the replacement cycle (life) of the filter components can be obtained.

[0134] In addition, according to the embodiment of the present disclosure, the first to third filter components 110, 120 and 130 can be replaced at the same replacement time point. Therefore, it is possible to obtain the advantageous effects of minimizing the supply stop of the target fluid and the operation stop of the electrochemical device 20 that may be caused by frequent replacement of the filter components and reducing the cost and time required for replacing the filter components.

[0135] In the embodiment of the present disclosure shown and described above, an example of replacing the first to third filter components 110, 120 and 130 at the same replacement time point has been described. However, according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, in the case where the target fluid (e.g., ultrapure water) requires reliability (low ion conductivity characteristics) due to the operating characteristics of the electrochemical device 20, the ion filter (e.g., the first filter component) that is set on the most upstream side and first reaches the end of its life can be replaced first, and then a new filter can be set on the most downstream side of the moving path of the target fluid, so that the target fluid can finally pass through the new filter with the best filtering performance. Therefore, the ion conductivity of the target fluid to be supplied to the electrochemical device 20 can be kept at a minimum.

[0136] In the embodiments of the present disclosure shown and described above, an example in which the target fluid moves along a serial path (e.g., a first serial path, a second serial path, or a third serial path) has been described. However, according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the target fluid can move along a parallel path passing through multiple filter components at the same time.

[0137] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a filtering device 10 for an electrochemical device may include: a first flow meter 510, located on the upstream side of a first filtering component 110, disposed in a supply pipeline 30, and configured to measure a mass flow rate of a target fluid; and a second flow meter 520, located on the downstream side of a third filtering component 130, disposed in a supply pipeline 30, and configured to measure a mass flow rate of a target fluid.

[0138] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, based on the sensing results of the first flow meter 510 and the second flow meter 520, the target fluid can be defined to move along a parallel path that simultaneously passes through at least two or more of the first filter component 110, the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130.

[0139] This is to solve a problem caused when the target fluid is supplied at a high flow rate in a case where it is necessary to supply the target fluid to the electrochemical device 20 at a high flow rate.

[0140] For example, the target fluid is used as a reactant in a water electrolysis stack (electrochemical device). In the case where the operation load of the water electrolysis stack increases, it is necessary to supply the target fluid to the water electrolysis stack at a high flow rate.

[0141] In addition, in the electrochemical system, the target fluid is also used to cool the electrochemical device 20 (e.g., a water electrolysis stack). Even when the heat generated by the water electrolysis stack (or fuel cell stack) increases or the ambient temperature increases so that the electrochemical device 20 needs to be further cooled, it is necessary to supply the target fluid to the water electrolysis stack (or fuel cell stack) at a high flow rate.

[0142] In the above case, when the target fluid moves along the serial path (e.g., the first serial path, the second serial path, or the third serial path), the target fluid is supplied at a flow rate higher than the design capacity of the filter component. Therefore, the differential pressure may increase, which may cause leakage of the filter component and the pipeline or damage the filter component. In addition, when the supply flow rate of the target fluid is insufficient due to leakage of the target fluid, the operation of the electrochemical device 20 stops or inevitably operates under harsh operating conditions.

[0143] However, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, in the case where the target fluid needs to be supplied at a high flow rate, the target fluid moves along parallel paths passing through a plurality of filter components at the same time, thereby solving the above-mentioned problem.

[0144] That is to say, referring to Figure 5 When the flow rate of the target fluid measured by each of the first flow meter 510 and the second flow meter 520 is higher than a preset reference flow rate, the first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 are controlled so that the target fluid can be limited to move along a parallel path passing through the first filter component 110, the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130 at the same time.

[0145] More specifically, a portion of the target fluid supplied to the supply line 30 can be supplied to the electrochemical device 20 along a path passing through the first filter component 110 → the third bypass line 230 in sequence, another portion of the target fluid supplied to the supply line 30 can be supplied to the electrochemical device 20 along a path passing through the first bypass line 210 → the second filter component 120 → the fifth bypass line 250 → the third bypass line 230 in sequence, and yet another portion of the target fluid supplied to the supply line 30 can be supplied to the electrochemical device 20 along a path passing through the first bypass line 210 → the fourth bypass line 240 → the third filter component 130 in sequence.

[0146] As described above, according to the embodiments of the present disclosure, the target fluid can move along parallel paths passing through a plurality of filter components at the same time, thereby stably supplying the target fluid at a high flow rate and effectively coping with risks such as an increase in operating load.

[0147] In addition, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, whether the filter component is leaking can be determined based on the flow rate of the target fluid measured by the first flow meter 510 and the second flow meter 520 when the target fluid moves along a serial path (e.g., a first serial path, a second serial path, or a third serial path). For example, when the flow rate (outlet flow rate) of the target fluid measured by the second flow meter 520 is lower than the flow rate (inlet flow rate) of the target fluid measured by the first flow meter 510, it can be determined that the filter component is leaking.

[0148] In addition, when it is determined that leakage occurs, the moving path of the target fluid is switched from the serial path to the parallel path (the target fluid passes through the parallel paths of multiple filter components at the same time). Therefore, the advantageous effects of minimizing the differential pressure applied to the filter component and minimizing the occurrence of leakage can be obtained.

[0149] In the embodiments of the present disclosure shown and described above, an example has been described in which the target fluid passes through all filter components along a serial path or a parallel path. However, according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the target fluid may be configured to pass through only some of the plurality of filter components.

[0150] Reference Figures 6 to 8 According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, based on the sensing results of the first ion sensor 410, the second ion sensor 420, the third ion sensor 430 and the fourth ion sensor 440, the target fluid can be defined as moving along a non-transmission path that does not pass through at least any one of the first filter component 110, the second filter component 120 and the third filter component 130.

[0151] According to the embodiments of the present disclosure described above, the target fluid moves along the non-transmission path that does not pass through at least any one of the first filter component 110, the second filter component 120, and the third filter component 130. Therefore, even when a specific filter component has a problem, the process of replacing the specific filter component can be performed without cutting off the supply of the target fluid to the electrochemical device 20.

[0152] For example, if a filter component (e.g., any one of the first to third filter components 110, 120, and 130) has a problem, such as leakage, end of life, and defect, the defective filter component needs to be replaced. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the target fluid moves along a non-transmission path that does not pass through the defective filter component, so the process of replacing the defective filter component can be performed without cutting off the supply of the target fluid to the electrochemical device 20.

[0153] For example, refer to Figure 6 , it can be determined whether the first filter component 110 is defective (for example, whether leakage occurs or the end of life is reached) based on the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the first ion sensor 410 and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed by the second ion sensor 420 (the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the upstream side of the first filter component and the ionic conductivity of the target fluid sensed on the downstream side of the first filter component). When it is determined that the first filter component 110 is defective, the first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 can be controlled so that the first filter component 110 can be replaced with a new filter component when the target fluid moves along the non-transmission path that does not pass through the first filter component 110.

[0154] More specifically, the non-transmission path may be defined as a path sequentially passing through the first bypass line 210→the second filter component 120→the third filter component 130, and the target fluid may move along the non-transmission path that does not pass through the first filter component 110. Thereafter, the first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350, and 360 may be controlled so that after the first filter component 110 is replaced, the target fluid moves along the path passing through the first filter component 110 again.

[0155] By the above method, when it is determined that the second filter component 120 is defective, such as Figure 7 As shown, the first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 can be controlled so that the second filter component 120 can be replaced with a new filter component when the target fluid moves along the non-transmission path that does not pass through the second filter component 120. Figure 8As shown, when the third filter component 130 is determined to be defective, the first to sixth three-way valves 310, 320, 330, 340, 350 and 360 can be controlled so that the third filter component 130 can be replaced with a new filter component when the target fluid moves along a non-transmission path that does not pass through the third filter component 130.

[0156] As described above, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the target fluid selectively moves along a non-transmission path. Therefore, the process of replacing a specific filter component (a defective filter component) can be performed without cutting off the supply of the target fluid to the electrochemical device 20 (or without stopping the operation of the electrochemical device). In addition, the embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent shutdowns caused by the supply of the target fluid, thereby obtaining the advantageous effects of improving durability and stability.

[0157] On the other hand, refer to Fig. 9 and Fig.10 According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the second filter component 120 may include a filter module 120 ′ or 120 ″ that can be selectively separated from the supply line 30 .

[0158] That is, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the second filter component 120 disposed between the filter component (e.g., the first filter component) disposed on the most upstream side of the moving path of the target fluid and the filter component (e.g., the third filter component) disposed on the most downstream side may be configured as a selectively detachable filter module 120' or 120".

[0159] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the filter module 120' or 120" may be defined as including all of a filter member (not shown) configured to filter out ions and foreign matter (impurities) contained in the target fluid, a pipe (pipeline) (not shown) connected to the filter member, and a valve (not shown) disposed in the pipe.

[0160] The pipes and valves connected to the filter member may be variously changed in structure and number according to the required conditions and design specifications. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the structure of the pipes and valves connected to the filter member and the number of the pipes and valves.

[0161] For example, refer to Fig.10 The second filter component 120 may include a first filter module 120' detachably connected to the supply line 30 and a second filter module 120" detachably connected to the supply line 30 and the first filter module 120'. According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the second filter component may include a single filter module or include three or more filter modules.

[0162] As described above, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, filter modules 120' and 120" modularized into preset sizes and structures are used to constitute the second filter component 120. Therefore, the advantageous effects of simplifying the structure and installation process, reducing costs and facilitating maintenance can be obtained. In addition, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, without changing the overall structure of the filter device 10 for an electrochemical device, the processing capacity of the filter device 10 for an electrochemical device can be increased or decreased by selectively increasing or decreasing the number of filter modules 120' and 120".

[0163] Reference Fig.11 According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, the filtering apparatus 10 for an electrochemical device may include: a seventh three-way valve 370 disposed in the third bypass line 230 and connected to the other end of the fifth bypass line 250 .

[0164] Various three-way valves capable of allowing the target fluid having passed through the first filter component 110 to flow to the third filter component 130 along the third bypass line 230 may be used as the seventh three-way valve 370. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the type and structure of the seventh three-way valve 370. For example, the seventh three-way valve 370 may have a structure that is the same as or similar to that of the first three-way valve 310 described above.

[0165] Since the seventh three-way valve 370 is provided in the embodiment of the present disclosure as described above, the target fluid can be supplied to the electrochemical device 20 along a non-transmission path (a non-transmission path that does not pass through the second filter component) that passes through the first filter component 110 → the third bypass line 230 → the fifth bypass line 250 → the third filter component 130 in sequence.

[0166] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a filtering device 10 for an electrochemical device may include: a first check valve 610, which is arranged in a second bypass line 220 and is configured to limit the backflow of a target fluid; a second check valve 620, which is arranged in a third bypass line 230 and is configured to limit the backflow of a target fluid; and a third check valve 630, which is arranged in a fourth bypass line 240 and is configured to limit the backflow of a target fluid.

[0167] Various check valves capable of restricting the backflow of the target fluid moving along the second bypass line 220 may be used as the first check valve 610. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the type and structure of the first check valve 610.

[0168] Various check valves capable of restricting the backflow of the target fluid moving along the third bypass line 230 may be used as the second check valve 620. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the type and structure of the second check valve 620.

[0169] Various check valves capable of restricting the backflow of the target fluid moving along the fourth bypass line 240 may be used as the third check valve 630. The present disclosure is not restricted or limited by the type and structure of the third check valve 630.

[0170] Although the embodiments have been described above, the embodiments are illustrative only and are not intended to limit the present disclosure. It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various modifications and applications not described above may be made to the present embodiment without departing from the essential features of the present embodiment. For example, each constituent element specifically described in the embodiment may be modified and executed.
