Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This disclosure generally relates to a loudspeaker and a speaker enclosure including the loudspeaker. Background Technology
[0002] As loudspeakers and speaker enclosures become increasingly popular in everyday life as important audio output devices, a trend has emerged in the market towards cylindrical and spherical loudspeaker designs aimed at enhancing both aesthetics and sound quality.
[0003] However, conventional loudspeaker designs have certain limitations when housed within cylindrical or spherical enclosures. Conventional loudspeakers are characterized by a frame with a flat mating surface to which the diaphragm assembly is fixed. When these conventional loudspeakers are mounted on the side of a cylindrical or spherical enclosure, this design requires a considerable amount of mounting space in front of the loudspeaker to ensure proper operation and correct enclosure mounting. This typically results in reduced rear cavity space behind the loudspeaker, increasing the enclosure's resonant frequency and thus degrading low-frequency performance.
[0004] Therefore, there is a need for a new type of speaker and speaker design that can overcome the drawbacks associated with conventional speakers and enclosures. Summary of the Invention
[0005] This disclosure aims to overcome the drawbacks associated with conventional loudspeakers and enclosures by providing a novel loudspeaker and enclosure design that optimizes space utilization in front of the loudspeaker, increases rear cavity volume, and / or improves the overall performance of the loudspeaker.

[0027] < / n> Figure 1A A perspective view of a loudspeaker 100 is shown in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 1B A top view of the loudspeaker 100 is shown. The loudspeaker 100 features an x-axis through its center and includes a magnet assembly 110, a frame 130 connected to the magnet assembly 110, and a diaphragm assembly 150 secured to the frame 130.
[0028] The frame 130 includes a mounting portion 140 that includes a curved mounting portion 142 and two flat mounting portions 144 disposed on either side of the curved mounting portion 142. The frame 130 further includes several mounting holes 146 that facilitate attachment of the loudspeaker 100 to a speaker enclosure. In the illustrated embodiment, the curved mounting portion 142 lies in or forms a portion of a cylindrical surface, thereby enabling the loudspeaker 100 to be fitted to a speaker enclosure having a cylindrical shape. Figure 1A
[0030] Figure 2A is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2A-2A of Figure 1B is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2B-2B of Figure 2B is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2C-2C of Figure 1B is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2C-2C of Figure 2C The magnet assembly 110 includes a main magnet 112, an auxiliary magnet 114, a yoke 116, and a top plate 118. The main magnet 112, the auxiliary magnet 114, the yoke 116, and the top plate 118 define a magnetic gap 122 and are arranged such that the yoke 116 and the top plate 118 direct and concentrate the magnetic flux in the main magnet 112 and the auxiliary magnet 114 through the magnetic gap 122. The loudspeaker 100 further includes a voice coil 180, a portion of which is suspended in the magnetic gap 122. Figure 1B The specific arrangement of the magnet assembly shown in FIG. 1 is merely illustrative, and other embodiments of the present disclosure can employ any other suitable magnet assembly configuration. Figures 2A to 2C The specific arrangement of the magnet assembly shown in FIG. 1 is merely illustrative, and other embodiments of the present disclosure can employ any other suitable magnet assembly configuration.
[0031] The frame 130 includes a base portion 134 connected to the magnet assembly 110, a mounting portion 140 that supports the diaphragm assembly 150, and a frame body 132 that extends from the base portion 134 to the mounting portion 140. The mounting portion 140 is formed with a joining surface in which the diaphragm assembly 150 is secured. The mounting portion 140 is also designed to fit or mate with corresponding structures in an acoustic enclosure in order to mount the speaker 100 therein.
[0032] The diaphragm assembly 150 includes a spider 160 and a diaphragm 152. The spider 160 is secured to the mounting portion 140 of the frame 130. The diaphragm 152 is connected at one end to an inner connection portion 166 of the spider 160 and at the other end to a voice coil 180. The speaker 100 further includes a centering spider 184 that connects the voice coil 180 to the frame 130 for supporting the voice coil 180 and centering the voice coil 180 relative to the magnet assembly 110.
[0033] The mounting portion 140 of the frame 130 is formed with joining surfaces 142a, 144a to which the spider 160 (or an outer connection portion of the spider 160) of the diaphragm assembly 150 is attached. In particular, the joining surfaces 142a, 144a include a curved portion 142a formed on the curved mounting portion 142 and a flat portion 144a formed on the flat mounting portion 144. The joining surfaces 142a, 144a extend around or encircle the entire circumference of the diaphragm assembly 150. In the illustrated embodiment, the curved portion 142a of the joining surface spans a majority of the circumference of the diaphragm assembly 150. In one or more embodiments of the disclosure, the curved portion 142a of the joining surface spans at least 50% of the circumference of the diaphragm assembly 150. In one or more other embodiments of the disclosure, the curved portion 142a of the joining surface can span at least 60%, at least 70%, or at least 80% of the circumference of the diaphragm assembly 150. As shown in FIG. 1, Figures 2A to 2B The flat portion 144a of the joining surface is located axially lower than the curved portion 142a of the joining surface. In other words, the flat portion 144a of the joining surface is located at the lowest axial position in the joining surface.
[0034] In the illustrated embodiment, the loudspeaker 100 (or the loudspeaker frame 130) has a curved mounting portion 142 and / or a curved portion 142a formed on the mating surface of the curved mounting portion 142, as well as a similar curved shape of the surround 160 of the diaphragm assembly 150. This design allows for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance when the loudspeaker 100 is mounted on a speaker enclosure with a corresponding curved shape. For example, as shown, the loudspeaker 100 has a curved mounting portion 142 and a curved portion 142a formed on the mating surface of the curved mounting portion 142, which are part of a cylindrical surface. Therefore, the loudspeaker 100 provides a pleasing aesthetic appearance when mounted on a speaker enclosure with a cylindrical shape.
[0035] like Figures 2A to 2C As shown, the main frame 132 is in Figure 2A The cross section (along) Figure 1B The line 2A-2A (cut off) has a relatively short axial extension D1, but in Figure 2B The cross section (along) Figure 1B The line 2B-2B (cut off) has a significantly longer axial extension D2. Therefore, in Figure 2A In the cross-section, the diaphragm body exhibits a relatively large angle α with the x-axis, while... Figure 2B In the cross-section, it has a much smaller angle β. In one or more embodiments, the loudspeaker 100 further includes a dust cap 190 attached to the diaphragm 150 and / or the surround 160. The dust cap 190 is curved in shape and similarly... Figure 2A In the cross-section, it forms a relatively large angle with the axis, but in Figure 2B The cross-section of the loudspeaker 100 forms a small angle with the axis. Therefore, the loudspeaker 100 may exhibit different sound dispersion angles in different radial directions. For example, the loudspeaker 100 in... Figure 2A It exhibits a relatively wide sound diffusion angle in the plane, but in Figure 2B The sound exhibits a significantly narrower sound diffusion angle in the plane. Therefore, the loudspeaker 100 of this disclosure may be able to provide a controllable sound diffusion mode.
[0036] Figure 3A A perspective view of a speaker 10 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure is shown. Figure 3B A top view of the speaker enclosure 10 is shown. The speaker enclosure 10 includes a cylindrical enclosure body 12 and a speaker 100 mounted therein. The enclosure body 12 has body mounting portions 14 and 16 recessed relative to the outer contour of the enclosure body 12. The body mounting portions include a central hole for receiving the speaker 100. The body mounting portions also include a curved body mounting portion 14 and two flat body mounting portions 16 disposed on either side of the curved body mounting portion 14. The shapes of the curved body mounting portion 14 and the flat body mounting portion 16 of the body mounting portion correspond to the curved mounting portion 142 and the flat mounting portion 144 of the speaker frame 130, respectively. This design allows the speaker frame 130 to perfectly fit the body mounting portions when the speaker 100 is mounted in the enclosure body 12. The speaker enclosure 10 further includes several fasteners 22 for securing the speaker 100 to the enclosure body 12.
[0037] Figure 4A It is along Figure 3B The cross-sectional view of speaker 10 taken from line 4A-4A in the diagram. Figure 4B A perspective view of the speaker 10 is shown, in which a portion has been extended along... Figure 3B The same line 4A-4A indicated in the middle was cut off. Figure 5A It is along Figure 3B The cross-sectional view of speaker 10 taken from line 5A-5A in the diagram. Figure 5B A perspective view of the speaker 10 is shown, in which a portion has been extended along... Figure 3B The same line 5A-5A indicated in the middle was cut off.
[0038] like Figures 4A to 5B As shown, especially as Figure 5A As shown, the main body 12 of the enclosure is a cylindrical shape with a radius of R1. The radius of the curved main body mounting portion 14, which is recessed or recessed relative to the main body 12, is R2, while the flat main body mounting portion 16 extends between the curved main body mounting portion 14 and the main body 12. The radius R2 of the curved main body mounting portion 14 is smaller than the radius R1 of the main body 12. This design allows the speaker 10 to fit within the outer contour of the main body 12, which is a cylinder with a radius of R1. This arrangement effectively provides sufficient protection for the speaker 100 while maintaining the overall aesthetic appearance of the speaker 10. The coaxial cylindrical arrangement between the main body 12, the curved main body mounting portion 14, and the curved mounting portion 142 of the speaker 100's frame 130 further enhances the aesthetics.
[0039] like Figure 2A , Figure 2B , Figure 3A , Figure 4A and Figure 5A As shown, due to the cylindrical configuration of the outer connecting portions 162 and 164 of the surround 160, the diaphragm 152 presents a variable angle relative to the x-axis of the speaker 100, and has a variable axial extension around its circumference. Specifically, the diaphragm 152 in Figure 2A and Figure 4A The cross-section shown has a minimum axial extension D1, while... Figure 2B and Figure 5A The cross section shown has the largest axial extension, D2.
[0040] The minimum axial extension D1 of the diaphragm 152 can be smaller than the axial extension of the diaphragm in a conventional loudspeaker, which has a flat frame configuration and a constant axial extension around its circumference. Therefore, the loudspeaker 100 of this disclosure can be located at a higher axial position in the cabinet body 12 compared to a conventional loudspeaker, thus allowing for a relatively larger volume in the rear cavity 18 of the cabinet body 12. This increased volume in the rear cavity 18 improves low-frequency performance. In an illustrative example with an outer diameter of 45 mm, the rear cavity volume of the speaker according to one or more embodiments of this disclosure is 180 cc. This represents a 9% increase compared to the 165 cc rear cavity volume of a conventional cylindrical speaker with a conventional loudspeaker.
[0041] As described above, speaker 100 in Figure 2A and Figure 4A It exhibits a relatively wide sound diffusion angle in the plane, but in Figure 2B and Figure 5A The cylindrical speaker 10 exhibits a noticeably narrow sound dispersion angle in the plane. In use, the cylindrical speaker 10 is typically positioned vertically, with one end resting flat on a table or support surface, its cylindrical surface horizontally facing the user. In this position, the speaker 100 exhibits a relatively wide sound dispersion angle in the horizontal direction and a noticeably narrower sound dispersion angle in the vertical direction. This sound dispersion pattern of the speaker 10 is more ideal for everyday use.
[0042] In the illustrated embodiment, the cabinet body 12 of the speaker 10 and the curved mounting portion 142 of the frame 130 of the speaker 100 exhibit a cylindrical configuration. This disclosure is not limited thereto; in one or more other embodiments of this disclosure, the cabinet body of the speaker and the curved mounting portion of the speaker frame may have other suitable curved shapes, such as a spherical configuration.
[0043] In the illustrated embodiment, the speaker 100 is Figure 1B and Figure 3B In a top view, it appears as a circular shape. This disclosure is not limited thereto; in one or more other embodiments of this disclosure, the speaker may be any other suitable shape, such as a runway shape, a square shape, or an oval shape.
[0044] In the illustrated embodiment, the speaker enclosure includes a body mounting portion having a curved body mounting portion recessed relative to the outer contour of the speaker enclosure. This disclosure is not limited thereto, and in one or more other embodiments, it may take any other suitable form as long as the body mounting portion can properly receive and secure the curved speaker.
