Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a segment plate valve for controlling the flow of a fluid, comprising a housing, a first connecting flange and a second connecting flange, which are arranged on opposite end faces of the housing that are aligned parallel to one another, a flow opening that extends from the first connecting flange to the second connecting flange and is enclosed by the housing, a segment disc arranged in the flow opening, the position of which segment disc is adjustable relative to a fixed disc arranged behind the segment disc to control an opening cross-section of the segment plate valve, and an adjustment connection arranged on a circumferential surface of the housing, wherein the circumferential surface extends between the end faces of the housing, wherein the first connecting flange and the second connecting flange each have ahave a closed connection surface.,
[0002] From the prior art, GB 2 402 459 B discloses a throttle valve with a cylindrical flow opening. Arranged within the flow opening is a casing, which essentially forms at least one connecting flange encompassed by the housing. DE 29 23 512 A1 discloses a flow shutoff valve with an inlet and outlet for connection to a fluid inlet pipe and a fluid outlet pipe, respectively. Furthermore, rotary slide valves are known from CH 53 478 A and US 2003 / 0 178 596 A1, each of which has elements and connecting flanges that can be moved relative to one another. Various embodiments of throttle valves are disclosed in US 5 207 411 A, US 5 741 006 A and US 4 699 357 A, each of which has at least one connecting flange arranged circumferentially within the housing.Furthermore, from DE 42 20 070 C1 a rotary disc segment valve with a housing is known, wherein at least one connecting flange is arranged along a longitudinal axis thereof, the outer cross section of which is smaller than that of the housing.
[0003] Such segment plate valves are used for flow control in a variety of technical systems. The segment plate valves are typically arranged in a piping system and connected to two pipe sections using the first and second connecting flanges. To connect the pipe sections to the connecting flanges of the segment plate valve, the pipe sections have pipe flanges adapted to the connecting flanges of the segment plate valve.
[0004] These segment plate valves are clamped between the pipe sections. For this purpose, the pipe flanges can, for example, have matching bores, whereby the pipe flanges can be connected to each other by threaded rods arranged in these bores. Using a suitable screw nut arranged at one end of the threaded rods, the distance between the pipe flanges can be adjusted such that a segment plate valve arranged between the pipe flanges is clamped in place.
[0005] The commonly used clampable segment plate valves have a cylindrical housing and annular disc-shaped connecting flanges, with a diameter of the housing corresponding to a diameter of the connecting flanges.
[0006] For essentially cylindrical housings, the longitudinal axis corresponds to the housing's axis of rotation. Generally, the longitudinal axis is a central axis of the housing, which, for example, runs through the centers of gravity or the centers of the cross-sectional areas of the housing. If a projection of the circumferential surface in the direction of the longitudinal axis across the area of the connecting flanges arranged on the end faces corresponds to the circumferential lines of the connecting surfaces, the outer diameter of the housing is equal to the outer diameter of the connecting flanges, as is usually the case with segmented plate valves with cylindrical housings.
[0007] An adjustment connection is arranged on the peripheral surface of the housing, via which an adjustment mechanism for controlling a flow cross-section of the segment plate valve can be controlled, for example via an electrically, pneumatically, hydraulically or manually actuated slide rod.
[0008] Segment plate valves are available in a wide range of sizes, allowing the cross-section of the flow opening to be adapted to the expected flow rate to be controlled by the valve. Segment plate valves with large opening cross-sections of 20 cm and more are already quite heavy, often requiring multiple installers to install the valves. Furthermore, segment plate valves above a certain weight can no longer be simply clamped between pipe flanges; instead, they must be connected to the pipe sections or pipe flanges using suitable fasteners arranged or molded onto the segment plate valves.
[0009] The object of the invention is therefore to further develop the segment plate valves already known from the prior art in such a way that the assembly of the segment plate valves is simplified.
[0010] This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1.
[0011] For example, the circumference of a substantially cylindrical housing is smaller than the outer circumference of the connecting flanges. The cross-section of the flow opening can be selected according to the respective requirements. A segment plate valve with a predetermined cross-section of the flow opening therefore has a lower weight in one design than a corresponding segment plate valve with a design known from the prior art. While the connecting flanges usually have to have a shape and in particular an outer diameter that is adapted to the respective adjacent pipe sections, thick-walled housings that extend over the entire length of the segment plate valve are often not necessary. In the area between the two connecting flanges, a very considerable amount of material and thus weight can be saved.
[0012] According to the invention, a circumferential contour along a circumferential line of a first sectional plane of the housing aligned parallel to the end faces has no regions that project radially beyond a circumferential contour defined by a circumferential line of a second sectional plane of the first and second connecting flanges aligned parallel to the first sectional plane. In the case of cylindrical housings, the circumference of the housing between the respective connecting flanges is smaller than the outer circumference of the connecting flanges.
[0013] This allows the housing circumference to be reduced, thus reducing the weight of the segment plate valve. This simplifies assembly and allows for easy clamp-on installation, even for segment plate valves with larger flow openings. The material savings also reduce the manufacturing costs of the segment plate valve.
[0014] The circumference of the housing can be further reduced by arranging recesses on the circumferential surface that run coaxially with respect to the longitudinal axis. These recesses can, for example, be arranged in an area of the housing where lower rigidity is required to transmit the forces to be transmitted via the clamping connection across the housing.
[0015] Such segment plate valves can be cast from stainless steel. However, they can also be cut from sheet metal.
[0016] The assembly of the segment plate valves can be further simplified by designing the recesses in a trough shape. This allows for recessed grips to be created, making it easier for the installer to lift and handle the segment plate valves.
[0017] The recesses can be further enlarged and further material saved by forming reinforcing ribs between the recesses. These reinforcing ribs can, for example, be arranged in areas of the housing that correspond to the connecting elements arranged in the bores of the pipe flanges. These reinforcing ribs can transfer part of the forces acting on the housing due to the clamping connection from the first pipe flange to the second pipe flange.
[0018] The forces acting from the pipe flanges to the connecting flanges can be easily transferred to the housing by arranging reinforcing elements in a region of the end faces. This allows the housing to be designed smaller relative to the circumference of the connecting flanges, so that less material is required to manufacture the housing and the assembly of the segment plate valve is further simplified.
[0019] To further simplify the assembly of the segment plate valve, a centering device is provided on the first connection flange and / or the second connection flange. The centering device can, for example, be rings arranged on the connection surfaces, nose-shaped protrusions, or similar elements that can be brought into engagement with correspondingly adapted recesses arranged in the connection surfaces of the pipe flanges. In this way, the segment plate valves can initially be simply arranged in a predetermined position between the pipe flanges and then clamped between the pipe flanges, for example by screwing.
[0020] According to the invention, the manufacturing costs of the segment plate valve can be further reduced by manufacturing the housing, the first connecting flange and the second connecting flange in one piece.
[0021] Advantageously, the invention provides that an adjustment mechanism and the adjustment connection are arranged within an adjustment housing, and the adjustment housing is fixed to the housing. By arranging the adjustment mechanism and the adjustment connection within a separate adjustment housing, it is possible to adapt the housing of the segment plate valve exclusively to the additional valve components required for flow control and to the rigidity necessary for clamping. The adjustment housing can be adapted to the adjustment mechanism arranged within the adjustment housing. Since the rigidity requirements of the adjustment housing are lower than those of the segment plate valve housing, the adjustment housing can be designed to be comparatively light.
[0022] Segment plate valves can be manufactured particularly cost-effectively because the adjustment housing and the housing are manufactured as one piece.
[0023] The weight of the segment plate valve can be further reduced by adding tapered sections to the adjustment housing. The adjustment housing can, for example, be adapted to the specific shape of the adjustment mechanism used.
[0024] In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the segment plate valve according to the invention, a circumference of the adjustment housing is rounded or circular in at least some sections. This allows the weight of the segment plate valve to be further significantly reduced. An adjustment housing with a rounded or circular section can also be used to accommodate various adjustment mechanisms and can be designed to be comparatively lightweight.
[0025] Further advantageous embodiments of the segment plate valve according to the invention are explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows: Fig. 1 a schematic view of a segment plate valve with recesses, Fig. 2 a schematic sectional view of a segment plate valve with schematically illustrated fastening elements for clamping the segment plate valve between two pipe sections.
[0026] In Fig. 1 schematically shows a segment plate valve 1 with a housing 2 and a first connection flange 3. A second connection flange is arranged on a side 4 of the segment plate valve 1 opposite the first connection flange 3. The housing 2 has a cylindrical cross-section. An adjustment housing 6 is arranged on a circumferential surface 5 of the housing 2. A segment disc 8 for controlling an opening cross-section of the segment plate valve 1 is arranged in a flow opening 7 of the segment plate valve 1. With the aid of an adjustment mechanism arranged within the adjustment housing 6, the position of the segment disc 8 can be changed, thus openings provided in a fixed disc arranged behind the segment disc 8 and not visible in this illustration can be released. Depending on the position of the segment disc 8, a specific cross-section of the openings in the fixed disc is available as the flow cross-section.
[0027] The segment plate valve 1 is clamped between two pipe sections (not shown). The first connecting flange 3 and the second connecting flange are connected to corresponding pipe flanges (not shown). The clamped fastening can be achieved, for example, with bolts (not shown) fixed in the pipe flanges and connecting the pipe flanges.
[0028] Recesses 9 are formed on a circumference of the housing 2 of the segment plate valve 1. These recesses can also serve as gripping recesses for transporting or assembling the segment plate valve 1.
[0029] A longitudinal axis 10 of the housing 2 is indicated by a dot-dash line in the Fig. 1 marked.
[0030] In Fig.Figure 2 shows a schematic sectional view of a segment plate valve 1 with schematically illustrated fastening elements 11 for clamping the segment plate valve 1 between two pipe sections (not shown). A circumference of the adjustment housing is circular.
