Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle with an air guiding device, in particular according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] In vehicles with internal combustion engines, the cooling circuit for cooling the internal combustion engine is usually cooled with cooling air. For this purpose, air intakes are provided in the front of the vehicle to allow air to flow to the radiators. A central air intake is often provided. However, if air intakes are provided to the sides of the center of the vehicle, the air entering the air intakes located near the curve of the front contour can escape from the opening again because the negative pressure on the outer side of the air intake facilitates this. This reduces the air available for cooling and creates turbulence outside the air intake, which increases air resistance.
[0003] Air guiding devices for such air inlets are known from DE 10 2009 034 518 A1. This document discloses air guiding devices that are spring-loaded and lift off the bow, promoting airflow.
[0004] DE 10 2011 012 119 A1 discloses an arrangement of an air guiding part on a body of a motor vehicle, wherein the air guiding part is held on the body so as to be movable outwards relative to the body in the transverse direction of the vehicle.
[0005] It is the object of the present invention to provide a motor vehicle with an air guiding device which is of simple construction and yet provides a good supply of cooling air.
[0006] The problem is solved with the features of claim 1.
[0007] An embodiment of the invention relates to a motor vehicle having a front end with a contour of the front end, wherein at least one air inlet opening is provided in the front end, the air inlet opening being arranged with a border surrounding it laterally to a central longitudinal axis of the vehicle, characterized in that an air guiding device is provided which is arranged projecting from the border of the air inlet opening in such a way that it at least partially covers the air inlet opening and projects forward beyond the front end contour in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
[0008] It is advisable for the air deflector to be attached to the side of the surround furthest from the vehicle's centerline. This allows the air deflector to extend inward from the surround toward the centerline and forward in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. This allows the incoming air to be channeled more effectively.
[0009] It is also advisable for the air deflector to extend from the frame toward the center of the vehicle at an angle α in front of the air inlet opening. The angle is measured between the end of the air deflector at the frame and the free end of the air deflector, which is located in front of the air inlet opening.
[0010] It is advantageous if the air deflector has a curve whose radius of curvature is located behind the air deflector when viewed in the vehicle's longitudinal direction. This causes the air deflector to protrude more steeply, i.e., at a greater angle, from the frame than it is angled toward the free end.
[0011] It is also advantageous if the air guiding device is essentially the same height as the air inlet opening. This allows for maximum air channeling.
[0012] It is also advantageous if the air guiding device has a height that is less than the height of the air inlet opening.
[0013] It is expedient if the air inlet opening is divided by at least one web, the air guiding device extending in height between one web and the border or between two webs.
[0014] The invention is explained in detail below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows: Fig. 1 a schematic representation of an air intake opening in the front of a motor vehicle, Fig. 2 a schematic representation of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with an air guiding device according to the invention, Fig. 3 a detailed representation of the Fig. 2, Fig. 4 a perspective view of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with an air guiding device according to the invention, Fig. 5 a detailed view of an alternative design of an air guiding device, Fig. 6 a perspective view of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with an alternative air guiding device according to the invention according to Fig. 5, Fig. 7 a perspective view of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with a further air guiding device according to the invention, Fig. 8 a perspective view of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with a further air guiding device according to the invention, and Fig. 9 a perspective view of an air inlet opening in the front of a motor vehicle with a further air guiding device according to the invention.
[0015] The Fig. Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a front end 1 of a motor vehicle in a partial view, with only one half of the front end of the vehicle shown. The front end is curved and deviates sharply rearward in an arc toward the side of the vehicle. The vehicle's longitudinal direction is indicated by the arrow FR, which is drawn along the central longitudinal axis of the vehicle 1.
[0016] An air inlet opening 2 is provided in the front of the vehicle 1, located to the side of the central longitudinal axis. This air inlet opening serves to direct air into an air duct 3, for example, to a radiator 4. The duct 3 thus adjoins the air inlet opening 2. The contour of the front can be described as curved overall, with the contour of the front in the area of the opening also being curved. The contour of the front in the area of the air inlet opening 2 is an idealized line or surface that is extrapolated from the course of the contour next to the opening into the area of the opening.
[0017] The air inlet 2 is located laterally in the bow. This allows the incoming air to enter the air inlet 2 as indicated by arrow 5, while air can also exit the air inlet 2 as indicated by arrow 6. This is due to the fact that there is an overpressure in front of the central area of the bow as indicated by reference numeral 7 and a negative pressure to the side of the bow as indicated by reference numeral 8, so that air that has already entered the air inlet 2 can also exit the air inlet 2 again.
[0018] The Fig. Figure 2 shows a section of a motor vehicle 10 according to the invention, comprising a front end 11 with a contour of the front end that is substantially arched or curved. An air inlet opening 12 is provided laterally, connecting an air duct 13 to a radiator 14. The air inlet opening 12 is provided with a border 15, wherein the border 15 is configured as a border 15 extending around the air inlet opening 12.
[0019] An air guiding device 16 extends from the border 15, with the air guiding device 16 adjoining the border 15 on the side farthest from the vehicle center. This refers to the lateral wall of the border 15, which extends laterally in the vertical direction.
[0020] The air guiding device 16 extends from this outer side of the border 15 in the direction of the vehicle center 17, wherein the air guiding device 16 protrudes from the border 15 of the air inlet opening 12 in such a way that it at least partially covers or covers the air inlet opening 12 and projects forward beyond the contour of the bow in the vehicle longitudinal direction.
[0021] The Fig. Figure 3 illustrates this situation in an enlarged view. The air guiding device 16 engages the edge 15 of the front end 11 and protrudes from the edge 15 toward the center of the vehicle. It projects forward in front of the air inlet opening 12 in the direction of the vehicle's longitudinal direction, so that the front end 18 of the air guiding device lies in front of the contour 19 of the front end.
[0022] The distance between the contour of the nose and the front end is designated H, with the length of the air guiding device, starting from the edge 15 to the front end 18, being designated B. The connecting line between the edge 15 and the end 18 forms an angle α to the vertical 20, which is perpendicular to the vehicle's longitudinal direction.
[0023] The Fig. 4 shows the air guiding device 16 on the border 15 of the air inlet opening 12 once again in a perspective view. Fig. 4 it can also be seen that the air guiding device 16 is connected not only to the side which is furthest away from the center of the vehicle, but also to the top and bottom as viewed in the vertical direction of the vehicle.
[0024] The air guiding device 16 has an arcuate contour which, starting from the border 15, is more inclined forward in the vehicle's longitudinal direction than in its end region at the end 18. This means that the air guiding device can be assigned at least one radius of curvature which, viewed in the vehicle's longitudinal direction, is arranged behind the air guiding device 16, so that the air guiding device 16, viewed in the vehicle's longitudinal direction, is arranged in front of the at least one radius of curvature.
[0025] The Fig. 5 shows a further embodiment of an air guiding device 30 which, in comparison to the air guiding device 16 of the Fig. 3 is shorter in its longitudinal extension. However, not only the length B is shorter, but also the height H is greater than in the air guiding device 16 of the Fig. 3. Furthermore, it can be seen that the angle α of the air guiding device 30 is greater than the angle α of the air guiding device 16. This means that, depending on the length B of the air guiding device, the angle α decreases with increasing length B. The height H also decreases with increasing length B.
[0026] The Fig. Figure 6 shows the exemplary embodiment of the air guiding device 30 once again in a perspective view. In the perspective view, it can be seen that the curved portion of the air guiding device 30 adjoins the perimeter of the air inlet opening, specifically on the side furthest from the center of the vehicle. A flat wall 31 or 32 is provided for connecting to the upper and lower portions of the perimeter, respectively, extending horizontally from the air guiding device 30 to the perimeter 15.
[0027] The Fig. 4 and the Fig. 6 show that the air guiding device 16 or 30 extend over the entire height of the air inlet opening 12.
[0028] In the examples of the Fig. 7 to 9 it becomes clear that the air guiding device 40 to 42 does not have to extend over the entire height of the air inlet opening 43 to 45, but can also occupy only a partial height.
[0029] In the examples of the Fig. 7 to 9, the air inlet opening 43 to 45 is divided into at least two sections by at least one web 46 to 49, wherein the air guiding device 40 to 42 is extended either between two webs 46, 47 in the vertical direction or between a web 48 or 49 and the border 50.
