Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a connecting rod for an internal combustion engine and an internal combustion engine.
[0002] Fig. Figure 1 shows a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine with an adjustable compression ratio, as known from DE 10 2010 016 037 A1. Thus, the connecting rod 10 has a pin bearing eye 11 and a connecting rod bearing eye 12, whereby the pin bearing eye 11 serves to connect the connecting rod 10 to a Fig. 1 not shown crankshaft and the connecting rod bearing eye 12 of the connection of the connecting rod 10 to a Fig. 1 not shown cylinder piston of the combustion engine. The connecting rod 10 is assigned an eccentric adjusting device 13, which Fig. 1, not shown, an eccentric lever 14, and eccentric rods 15, 16. The eccentric lever 14 has a bore arranged eccentrically to a center point 17 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, with a center point 18, wherein the bore in the eccentric lever 14 accommodates the eccentric, and a bore in the eccentric accommodates a piston pin. The eccentric adjustment device 13 serves to adjust an effective connecting rod length I eff , where the connecting rod length is the distance from the center point 18 of the bore in the eccentric lever 14 to a center point 19 of the pin bearing eye 11. To rotate the eccentric body 14 and thus to change the effective connecting rod length I effThe eccentric rods 15, 16 are movable. Each eccentric rod 15, 16 is assigned a piston 20, 21, which is displaceably guided in a hydraulic chamber 22, 23. Hydraulic pressure prevails in the hydraulic chambers 22, 23, which acts on the pistons 20, 21 assigned to the eccentric rods 15, 16. Depending on the oil quantity in the hydraulic chambers, the displacement of the eccentric rods 15, 16 may or may not be possible.
[0003] The adjustment of the eccentric adjustment device 13 is initiated by the action of mass and load forces of the internal combustion engine, which act on the eccentric adjustment device 13 during a power stroke of the internal combustion engine. During a power stroke, the directions of action of the forces acting on the eccentric adjustment device 13 constantly change. The adjustment movement is supported by the pistons 20, 21, which are pressurized with hydraulic oil and act on the eccentric rods 15, 16. The pistons 20, 21 prevent the eccentric adjustment device 13 from resetting due to varying directions of the forces acting on the eccentric adjustment device 13. The eccentric rods 15, 16, which interact with the pistons 20, 21, are connected to the eccentric body 14 on both sides. The hydraulic chambers 22 and 23, in which the pistons 20, 21 are guided, can be supplied with hydraulic oil via hydraulic oil lines 24 and 25 from the pin bearing eye 11. Check valves 26 and 27 prevent the hydraulic oil from flowing back from the hydraulic chambers 23 and 24 into the hydraulic lines 24 and 25. A changeover valve 29 is accommodated in a bore 28 of the connecting rod 10. The switching position of the changeover valve 29 determines which of the hydraulic chambers 22 and 23 is filled with hydraulic oil and which of the hydraulic chambers 22 and 23 is emptied, whereby the adjustment direction or rotation direction of the eccentric adjustment device 13 depends on this. The hydraulic chambers 22 and 23 are in contact with the bore 28, which accommodates the changeover valve 29, via fluid lines 30 and 31, respectively. From the changeover valve 29 are in . Fig. 1 an actuating means 32, a spring device 33 and a control piston 34 are shown schematically, the function of these components of the changeover valve 29 already being known from DE 10 2010 016 037 A1.
[0004] As stated above, the hydraulic oil which acts on the pistons 20, 21 guided in the hydraulic chambers 22, 23 is supplied to the hydraulic chambers 22, 23 from the pin bearing eye 11 via hydraulic lines 24 and 25, whereby the connecting rod 10 is connected to the pin bearing eye 11 at the Fig. 1 not shown crankshaft, that a connecting rod bearing shell 35 is arranged between the crankshaft, namely a crankshaft bearing journal thereof, and the crank bearing eye.
[0005] From DE 10 2005 055 199 A1, further details of such an internal combustion engine with an adjustable compression ratio are known, wherein it is known in this prior art to insert the eccentric lever, on which the eccentric rods engage, into a slot-like recess in the connecting rod bearing eye.
[0006] For assembly, the eccentric lever, which has a bore with internal teeth, is inserted into the slot-like recess of the connecting rod bearing eye. The eccentric, which has external teeth, is then inserted into the bore of the eccentric lever. The eccentric and the eccentric lever are connected to each other via the intermeshing teeth. Connecting the eccentric to the eccentric lever via the intermeshing teeth requires a high level of manufacturing and assembly effort and is prone to wear.
[0007] DE 10 2011 002 138 A1 discloses a connecting rod with a crankshaft bearing eye for connecting it to a crankshaft, with a connecting rod bearing eye for connecting it to a piston of a cylinder, and with an eccentric adjusting device for adjusting an effective connecting rod length. The eccentric adjusting device has an eccentric that interacts with an eccentric lever and eccentric rods that engage the eccentric lever. The eccentric lever is connected to the eccentric in a rotationally fixed manner. The eccentric and connecting rod bearing eye have beveled contours.

[0009] US 2 989 954 A discloses an internal combustion engine.
[0010] The object of the invention is to create a novel internal combustion engine and a novel connecting rod which is lightweight, requires little manufacturing and assembly effort and is less susceptible to wear.
[0011] This object is achieved according to a first aspect of the invention by a connecting rod according to claim 1. According to the first aspect, the eccentric lever has eccentric lever segments, wherein the respective eccentric lever segment is positioned in front of or behind the connecting rod bearing eye as viewed in the axial direction of the eccentric, wherein the respective eccentric lever segment is connected to the eccentric in a rotationally fixed manner, and wherein the respective eccentric lever segment, an end face of the connecting rod bearing eye positioned adjacent to the respective eccentric lever segment, and an adjacent end face of the eccentric each have a beveled contour. This makes it possible to easily connect the eccentric to the or each eccentric lever segment and to dispense with gearing on the eccentric and eccentric lever. With low weight, the manufacturing and assembly effort as well as the susceptibility to wear can be reduced.
[0012] A connecting rod according to a second aspect of the invention solves claim 12. According to the second aspect of the invention, the eccentric lever has eccentric lever segments, wherein the respective eccentric lever segment is positioned in front of or behind the connecting rod bearing eye as viewed in the axial direction of the eccentric, wherein the respective eccentric lever segment is connected to the eccentric in a rotationally fixed manner, and wherein the respective eccentric lever segment has, at its ends, via which it is connected to the eccentric rods, a contour that is drawn inwards in the direction of the eccentric rods. This also makes it possible to easily connect the eccentric to the or each eccentric lever segment of the eccentric lever and to dispense with gearing on the eccentric and eccentric lever. With low weight, the manufacturing and assembly costs can be reduced, as can the susceptibility to wear.
[0013] The features of the first aspect of the invention and the features of the second aspect of the invention may be used alone or in combination with one another.
[0014] According to an advantageous development of the first aspect of the invention and the second aspect of the invention, the eccentric lever has two eccentric lever segments, wherein a first eccentric lever segment is positioned in front of a first axial end face of the connecting rod bearing eye and a second eccentric lever segment is positioned in front of a second axial end face of the connecting rod bearing eye such that the connecting rod bearing eye is positioned between the two eccentric lever segments.
[0015] According to an advantageous development of the first aspect of the invention, the two end faces of the connecting rod bearing eye, the two end faces of the eccentric, and the two eccentric lever segments each run parallel to one another in a lower section and inclined to one another in an upper section. This allows the weight of the connecting rod to be further reduced.
[0016] Preferably, kink lines in the contour of the eccentric lever segments, at which the mutually parallel sections of the eccentric lever segments merge into the mutually inclined sections of the eccentric lever segments, are located throughout the entire adjustment range of the eccentric lever above kink lines in the contour of the axial end faces of the connecting rod bearing eye, at which the mutually parallel sections of the end faces of the connecting rod bearing eye merge into the mutually inclined sections of the end faces of the connecting rod bearing eye, wherein the kink lines in the contour of the eccentric lever segments and kink lines in the contour of the axial end faces of the eccentric preferably run directly adjacent to one another. This can ensure good rotatability of the eccentric lever with a low weight of the connecting rod.
[0017] According to an advantageous development of the second aspect of the invention, the eccentric lever segments positioned in front of both end faces of the connecting rod bearing eye have an inwardly drawn-in contour at their ends, via which they are connected to the eccentric rods, thereby reducing the distance between the eccentric lever segments. This allows the weight of the connecting rod to be further reduced.
[0018] Preferably, the retraction lines at the ends of the eccentric lever segments are designed such that, when an eccentric rod engaging the ends of the eccentric lever segments is fully retracted into the respective hydraulic chamber, the retraction lines of the eccentric lever segments formed at these ends run parallel to a connecting rod body contour facing the respective eccentric rod. This ensures good torsion of the eccentric lever with a low connecting rod weight.
[0019] The internal combustion engine is defined in claim 15.
[0020] Preferred developments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims and the following description. Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail, without being limited thereto, with reference to the drawings. [0021] An internal combustion engine with an adjustable compression ratio has at least one, preferably several, cylinders. Each cylinder has a piston that is coupled to a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine via a connecting rod 10.
[0022] Each connecting rod 10 has a connecting rod bearing eye 12 at one end and a crank bearing eye 11 at an opposite end. The respective connecting rod 10 engages with its crank bearing eye 11 on a crankshaft bearing journal of the crankshaft in such a way that a connecting rod bearing shell is positioned between the crankshaft bearing journal and the crank bearing eye, whereby a lubricating oil film can build up between the connecting rod bearing shell and the crankshaft bearing journal.
[0023] An internal combustion engine with an adjustable compression ratio has an eccentric adjustment device 13 in the area of each connecting rod 10 for adjusting the effective connecting rod length of the respective connecting rod 10. The eccentric adjustment device 13 has an eccentric 36, an eccentric lever 14, and eccentric rods 15, 16, which can be displaced to adjust the compression ratio depending on the hydraulic pressure prevailing in the hydraulic chambers interacting with the eccentric rods. The hydraulic chambers interacting with the eccentric rods 15, 16 can be supplied with hydraulic oil from the pin bearing eye 11 of the respective connecting rod. The adjustment of the eccentric adjustment device is initiated by the action of mass and load forces of the internal combustion engine.
[0024] The eccentric lever 14 has a bore for receiving the eccentric 36, wherein the eccentric 36 has a bore 37 that serves to receive a piston pin. The eccentric lever 14 has at least one eccentric lever segment, in the illustrated embodiments, two eccentric lever segments 38 and 39, wherein, viewed in the axial direction of the eccentric 36, one of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 is positioned on both sides of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, in front of and behind the connecting rod bearing eye 12. The connecting rod bearing eye 12 is arranged between the two eccentric lever segments 38, 39.
[0025] The eccentric lever segments 38, 39 of the eccentric lever 14 are connected to the eccentric 36 in a rotationally fixed manner, Fig. 8 shows a connecting region 40, preferably extending in the circumferential direction of the eccentric 36, between the eccentric lever segment 38 visible there and the eccentric 36. Preferably, in this connecting region 40, the eccentric 36 and the eccentric lever segment 38 of the eccentric lever 14 are connected by welding. When, as viewed in the axial direction of the eccentric 36, an eccentric lever segment 38, 39 is positioned in front of and behind the connecting rod bearing eye 12, the eccentric 36 is connected to both eccentric lever segments.
[0026] In the illustrated embodiments, the two eccentric lever segments 38, 39 of the eccentric lever 14 are designed as individual assemblies, each connected to one another at their lateral ends by a connecting pin 41, 42. The eccentric rods 15, 16 engage these connecting pins 41, 42 in an articulated manner, namely, forming a hinge joint between the eccentric rods 15, 16 and the connecting pins 41, 42 connecting the two eccentric lever segments 38, 39. Instead of the connection via the connecting pins 41, 42, a ball joint, for example, is also conceivable.
[0027] In contrast to the illustrated embodiments, the eccentric lever 14 can be designed as a one-piece or monolithic assembly, in which the two eccentric lever segments 38, 39 are then formed as a one-piece or monolithic assembly. The eccentric rods 15, 16 then engage the ends of the one-piece or monolithic eccentric lever 14 in an articulated manner, namely again via connecting bolts 41, 42, to which the eccentric rods 15, 16 engage, forming a hinge joint.
[0028] In contrast, in the case of a one-piece or monolithic eccentric lever 14, the two eccentric rods 15, 16 can also engage the opposite ends of the eccentric lever 14 via ball joints.
[0029] The eccentric 36 is inserted into the bores of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 and into a bore in the connecting rod bearing eye 12, and penetrates these bores. The eccentric 36 is connected to both eccentric lever segments 38, 39. The eccentric 36 is preferably connected to the eccentric lever 14 by welding, which enables advantageous torque transmission.
[0030] The eccentric lever 14 is no longer inserted into a slot-shaped recess in the connecting rod 10, but rather the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 of the eccentric lever 14 are positioned in front of and behind the connecting rod 10, respectively, as seen in the axial direction of the eccentric 36, so that the connecting rod bearing eye 12 of the connecting rod 10 is positioned between the two eccentric lever segments 38, 39.
[0031] A first eccentric lever segment 38 is positioned in front of a first axial end face 43 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 and a second eccentric lever segment 39 is positioned in front of a second axial end face 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12.
[0032] According to a first aspect of the invention, the eccentric lever segments 38 and 39 of the eccentric lever 14, the end faces 43 and 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 10 positioned adjacent to the respective eccentric lever segments 38 and 39, and the end faces 45 and 46 of the eccentric 36 each have a beveled contour. This allows for a low weight of the connecting rod 10.
[0033] The two end faces 43 and 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 have a bevelled contour such that in a lower section the two end faces 43 and 44 run parallel or almost parallel and in an upper section the two end faces 43 and 44 are inclined in particular trapezoidally to each other. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 shows a bend line 47 for one of the two end faces 43 and 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, at which bend line the lower section, in which the two end faces 43 and 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 run parallel to each other, and the upper section, in which the two end faces 43 and 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 run inclined to each other, merge into one another.
[0034] The two end faces 45 and 46 of the eccentric 36 have a bevelled contour such that in a lower section the two end faces 45 and 46 run parallel to each other and in an upper section the two end faces 45 and 46 are inclined in particular trapezoidally to each other. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 shows a bend line 48 for one of the two end faces 45 and 46 of the eccentric 36, at which the lower section, in which the two end faces 45 and 46 of the eccentric 36 run parallel to each other, and the upper section, in which the two end faces 45 and 46 of the eccentric 36 run inclined to each other, merge into one another.
[0035] The two eccentric lever segments 38 and 39 of the eccentric lever 14, which are connected to the eccentric 36 in a rotationally fixed manner, have a bevelled contour such that they are parallel to one another in a lower section and, in an upper section, are inclined in a trapezoidal manner. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 shows a bend line 49 for one of the two eccentric lever segments 38 and 39, at which the lower section and the upper section merge into one another.
[0036] The bend lines 49 in the contour of the eccentric lever segments 38 and 39, at which the mutually parallel sections of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 merge into the mutually inclined sections of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39, are located in every rotational position of the eccentric lever segments 38 and 39 and thus in the entire adjustment range of the eccentric lever 14 above the bend lines 47 in the contour of the axial end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, at which the mutually parallel sections of the end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 merge into the mutually inclined sections of the end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12. This is advantageous for optimal rotatability of the eccentric lever segments 38 and 39 relative to the connecting rod bearing eye 12. There is no danger of jamming of the eccentric lever 14 in the entire adjustment range and there is sufficient play S between the connecting rod bearing eye 12 and the eccentric lever.
[0037] The bend lines 47 in the contour of the axial end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, at which the mutually parallel sections of the end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 merge into the sections thereof which are inclined to one another, are located below a center point 50 of the eccentric 36 which is rotatable in the connecting rod bearing eye 12. The bend lines 47 in the contour of the axial end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 are located at most so far below the center point 50 of the eccentric 36 that straight lines 51 and 52, which extend on the one hand through the center point 50 of the eccentric 36 and on the other hand through those kick points 53 and 54 of the bend lines 47 in the contour of the axial end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 which are directly adjacent to the eccentric 36, form an angle α (see Fig. 5, Fig. 6) of at least 80°.
[0038] Preferably, these straight lines 51 and 52 enclose an α angle of at least 100°, particularly preferably an angle α of at least 120°.
[0039] The angle α is a maximum of 160°, preferably a maximum of 150°, particularly preferably a maximum of 140°.
[0040] Accordingly, 80°≤α≤160° applies, preferably 100°≤α≤150° applies, particularly preferably 120°≤α≤140° applies.
[0041] Due to the above arrangement of the bend lines 47 in the contour of the axial end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12, a sufficiently large area A (see Fig. 4) designed for the axial bearing of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 and for force introduction.
[0042] The bend lines 48 in the contour of the axial end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36 and the bend lines 49 in the contour of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 run directly adjacent to each other. As best shown in Fig. 6 and Fig. 7, in the embodiment shown, the bending lines 48 in the contour of the axial end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36 run directly below the bending lines 49 in the contour of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39.
[0043] It is also possible that the bending lines 48 in the contour of the axial end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36 run directly above the bending lines 49 in the contour of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 or that, viewed in the vertical direction, these bending lines 48 and 49 coincide or lie in a vertical position.
[0044] In any case, an optimal torsion-proof connection of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 with the eccentric 36 at the connecting areas 40 is possible.
[0045] The bending angles of the end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 preferably correspond to the bending angles of the end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36.
[0046] Likewise, the bending angles of the end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36 preferably correspond to the bending angles of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39.
[0047] The bending angles of the end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 preferably correspond to the bending angles of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39.
[0048] The above-mentioned bending angle configuration enables optimal rotation of the eccentric lever segments 38 and 39 relative to the connecting rod bearing eye 12 and optimal torsion-resistant connection of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 to the eccentric 36. Furthermore, when the bending angles of the end faces 45, 46 of the eccentric 36 correspond to the bending angles of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39, the load-bearing width of the eccentric 36 relative to the piston pin is maximized. Even when the eccentric 36 is completely rotated, the eccentric 36 bears against the piston pin across the entire width of the eccentric 36 in the direction of the piston force.
[0049] Throughout the entire adjustment range of the eccentric lever 14, there is no risk of jamming, and there is sufficient clearance S between the connecting rod bearing eye 12 and the eccentric lever. Furthermore, a defined axial clearance can be set when connecting the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 to the eccentric 36.
[0050] According to a second aspect of the invention, which can be used in combination with the first aspect of the invention on a connecting rod 10, the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 positioned in front of both end faces 43, 44 of the connecting rod bearing eye 12 have an inwardly drawn-in contour at their ends 55, 56, via which they are pivotally connected to the eccentric rods 15, 16 via the connecting bolts 41, 42, thereby reducing the distance between the eccentric lever segments 38, 39. This also makes it possible to achieve a low weight for the connecting rod 10.
[0051] Retraction lines 57, 58, which are formed at the ends 55, 56 of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 and at which the inwardly drawn-in contour of the ends 55, 56 of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 begins, are designed such that when an eccentric rod 15, 16 engaging at ends 55, 56 of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 is maximally retracted into the respective hydraulic chamber 22, 23, the retraction line 57, 58 of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 formed at this end 55, 56 runs parallel to a connecting rod base body contour 59, 60 facing the respective eccentric rod 15, 16.
[0052] The retraction of the ends 55, 56 of the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 is therefore carried out in such a way that the retraction contour runs approximately parallel to the connecting rod body contours 59, 60 at the maximum pivot angle (see Fig. 10b, Fig.11b). Over the adjustment range of the eccentric lever 14, there is no risk of collision between the eccentric lever segments 38, 39 and the connecting rod body.
