Description

[0001] This invention relates to a magnetic-inductive flowmeter for measuring the flow velocity or volume flow of a medium flowing through a measuring tube.

[0002] Magnetic-inductive flowmeters have long been state-of-the-art. Their operating principle is based on the fact that a magnetic field can be used to induce a flow-velocity-dependent electrical voltage in electrically conductive media. This electrical voltage can be evaluated to measure the flow velocity or flow of the medium.

[0003] Typically, magnetic-inductive flowmeters comprise a measuring tube, a magnet system with two coil systems located on opposite sides of the measuring tube for generating a magnetic field perpendicular to a measuring tube axis, and at least two measuring electrodes arranged in or on the measuring tube for tapping the electrical voltage induced in the medium. To make the magnetic field outside the measuring tube as independent as possible from the flowmeter's environment, such a flowmeter has a metallic field guide that conducts the magnetic field outside the measuring tube between the coil systems.

[0004] The connection of the field guide to the coil systems proves to be critical, as a poor connection can significantly increase the magnetic resistance of the magnetic system-field guide system. This results in a lower magnetic field strength in the measuring tube and thus a deteriorated signal-to-noise ratio for measuring the induced electrical voltage. The state of the art, as shown, for example, in document DE202014103426U1, equips coils with pole pieces that have a flat contact surface for supporting or clamping the field guide. Even slight changes in contact pressure lead to significant changes in the magnetic resistance.

[0005] The object of the invention is to propose an improved connection of the field guide to the magnet system.

[0006] The problem is solved by a magnetic-inductive flowmeter according to claim 1.
