[0003] A fastening element for a facade system is known from [9]. The facade system consists of a frame formed from profile parts and a filling, in particular a glass pane element, and a retaining strip connected to the frame by screws, as well as seals resting on the filling and separating the retaining strip and the frame from the filling. To simplify installation, a sleeve is provided which is made of a heat-insulating material and has a guide for a drilling screw that connects the retaining strip to the frame. The drilling screw is inserted perpendicular to the extension of the filling to fasten the frame to the retaining strip.
[0004] The invention generally relates to fire-resistant closures and their installation. Fire-resistant closures are understood to mean fire-resistant closures and / or smoke-resistant closures. Fire-resistant closures are closures in building openings that prevent the spread of fire from one fire compartment of the building to another under the conditions specified in standard EN 1634-1. Closures that fail a fire resistance test under the test conditions of EN 1634-1 may not be sold as fire-resistant closures in the European Union and are therefore not considered fire-resistant closures by experts. Smoke-resistant closures are closures in building openings that prevent the spread of smoke from one fire compartment of the building to another under the conditions specified in standard EN 1634-3.Closures that fail a smoke control test under the test conditions of EN 1634-3 may not be sold as smoke control closures in the European Union and are therefore not considered smoke control closures by experts. Fire and smoke control closures are closures that offer both fire resistance according to EN 1634-1 and smoke control according to EN 1634-2. Closures include, in particular, doors, including side panels and frames, as well as fixed glazing. A tubular frame closure is a closure with a frame made of tubular elements. Examples of fire-resistant tubular frame closures are given in references [1] to [8].
[0005] The invention relates more specifically to fire-resistant tubular frame closures and to means and methods for assembling the same, in which the frames are formed from frame members composed of several metal profiles. For example, fillings, usually fire-resistant panes, are held in the frames, or at least one of the frames can also be designed as a door frame for supporting a door leaf. In particular, the invention relates to tubular frame elements with frame members made of metal profiles such as steel profiles and light metal profiles, more particularly aluminum profiles. As known from references [1] to [8], the tubular frame bars are formed from at least a first metal profile (e.g. outer profile) and a second metal profile (e.g. inner profile), which are connected to one another by a connecting device made of a material with poor thermal conductivity, in particular by means of connecting webs made of plastic.Further details on this, which are also used in preferred embodiments of the invention, can be found in the references [1] to [8].
[0006] There are installation situations in which several frame members of such a tubular frame arrangement must be coupled together side by side. This is particularly the case with tubular frame terminations designed as coupling structures, as described and shown in reference [7], p. 18, left illustration. The procedure and the coupling device currently used for this purpose can be found in reference [8], Figures 2, 2.1 - 2.4, more particularly Figures 2.1 and 2.2, on pages 83 - 85, with the corresponding description, see [8], Section 3.2.

[0035] The designation of the steps a) to e) serves only to simplify reference to the steps and does not imply a specific order of the steps. The steps can be performed in any sensible order, one after the other, or simultaneously.
[0036] It is preferred that a sealing profile is inserted between the first metal profiles of the first and second frame members, which is penetrated by the drilling screw in step c3).
[0037] It is preferred that step a) comprises: providing a pilot hole on the first metal profile of the first frame member during its preparation by means of a machining center, and that the guide sleeve is inserted or clipped into the pilot hole in step c1).
[0038] It is preferred that steps b) and c) are carried out using at least one coupling device according to one of the preceding embodiments.
[0039] Preferably, the method is used to install a fire protection tubular frame closure according to one of the preceding embodiments.
[0040] Some advantages, features and special features of particularly preferred embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below.
[0041] Preferred embodiments of the invention relate to an optimized coupling system which, compared to the previous coupling connection system as shown in Figure 2, 2.1-2.4 in the reference [8], is easier to handle even for less experienced fitters and yet still leads to optically high-quality finishes.
[0042] In particular, the coupling system is designed for coupling frame members of tubular frame elements in fire-resistant designs. Such frame members of tubular frame elements comprise metal profiles, such as aluminum profiles or aluminum half-shells, connected by connecting webs or the like. Regarding the screw connection of both metal profiles, such as aluminum half-shells, it should be mentioned that from a fire protection perspective, both metal profiles should be mechanically connected to one another, especially when using light metal profiles such as aluminum profiles. Fire protection should function from both sides (inside and outside). Therefore, the respective mechanical connection is advantageous. Otherwise, the frame members will open under fire load, and the fire protection will be gradually lost over the fire resistance period.
[0043] Previously, both metal profiles of the two frame members were mechanically connected using screws (example of a second fastener). However, the metal profiles are often not the same thickness. This coupling system presents difficulties, particularly when metal profiles with only a small extension in the thickness direction (i.e., perpendicular to the main plane of the panel held in the frame, such as a fire protection glass).
[0044] In the frame member cross-section provided according to reference [8] and also in a preferred embodiment of the invention, a critical screw connection takes place on the outside, where the first metal profile has only a small thickness extension. The screw should be securely screwed from one frame into the other, opposite frame. In [8], the screw used as the first fastener engages the second frame by pre-drilling with different drill diameters and leads to a force-locking connection (see [8], Figure 2.1 top right). In particular, it is desirable to enable the screw to be guided as securely as possible and to avoid damage to the profile, especially on the externally visible side of the profile.
[0045] If the installer drills at an angle or uses improper drilling techniques, damage and / or dents (due to screw marks) will occur on the visible (outside) side of the first metal profile. Another problem can be a bulging coupling seal (the sealing profile between the first metal profiles of the two adjacent frame members). When the screw is screwed in, the coupling seal (made of EPDM) slips, causing unsightly dents in the seal. The resulting visual defect leads to complaints.
[0046] In a particularly preferred embodiment of the assembly method, in which adjacent frame members, for example two adjacent frames of the tubular frame end, are coupled, secure fastening is achieved while reducing the risk of damage or visual impairment by means of secure pre-drilling by a BAZ (machining center), a special screw and a guide sleeve (e.g. injection-molded part made of plastic PA).
[0047] The problem of secure coupling, especially screwing, is solved with this method and a new coupling device with newly developed parts.
[0048] Preferably, the aluminum frame profile is pre-aligned (pre-drilled) on the machining center so that the newly developed guide sleeve can be clipped in.
[0049] This provides the installer with a guide for the drill and subsequent screwing. According to the invention, the guide in the guide sleeve has an inclination, preferably in the range of 0.5 to 15 degrees, more preferably 1 to 5 degrees, e.g., 2 to 4 degrees, and most preferably approximately 3 degrees. Precise pre-drilling for the drilling screw and the screwing in of the drilling screw are achieved in a controlled manner thanks to the guide geometry.
[0050] A unique special screw was developed for the system in a particularly preferred embodiment. The special screw is preferably constructed as follows: First, a drill bit, followed by an optimized thread for engagement with the aluminum profile. The subsequent tapering of the screw shaft ensures that the coupling seal (e.g., EPDM) does not push or bulge toward the outside (visible side). Numerous tests and expertise led to this particularly preferred system solution and simplified method.
[0051] An exemplary embodiment is explained in more detail below with reference to the attached drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a view of an exemplary fire protection tubular frame closure designed as a tubular frame arrangement in a coupled construction, in which several frames made of frame beams are coupled together; Fig. 2 a section along the line II-II of Fig. 1 by means of a preferred embodiment of a coupling device coupled to one another frame members of the fire protection tubular frame closure; Fig. 3 a section along the line III-III with a cross-section through two further frame members of the fire protection tubular frame closure coupled to one another by means of a preferred embodiment of a coupling device, wherein a first fastener in the form of a drilling screw, a guide sleeve and a second fastener of the coupling device are shown; Fig. 4 a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the drilling screw of the coupling device; Fig. 5 to 10 different views of a preferred embodiment of the guide sleeve of the coupling device.
[0052] Fig. Figure 1 shows an external view of an embodiment of a fire-protection tubular frame closure 10 designed as a coupled structure for forming at least part of a fire barrier of a building. The fire-protection tubular frame closure 10 comprises a tubular frame arrangement 12 made of metal profiles, in particular light metal profiles. In particular, the tubular frame closure comprises an arrangement of several fixed frames 16.1-16.4 formed from frame members 14.1, 14.2, which are coupled to one another so that a first frame member 14.1 and a second frame member 14.2 are always coupled to one another adjacent to one another by means of a coupling device 20. In the example shown, the tubular frame arrangement 12 has a frame 16.1 of a first side part, a frame 16.2 of a door frame, a frame 16.3 of a second side part, a frame 16.4 of a skylight and additionally a frame 18 of a door leaf, which is connected to the door frame with the frame 16.2 is rotatable about a vertical axis. Of course, . Fig. 1 represents only one example; very different tubular frame arrangements 12 are possible, with more or fewer side panels, even without a door, purely as fixed glazing, and even with more or fewer skylights. In the illustrated embodiments, fire-resistant panes 22 are held as fillings on the frames 16.1, 16.3, 16.4, and 18. Other fillings are also possible.
[0053] The respective frame members 14.1, 14.2 of the frames 16.1-16.4, 18 are constructed from metal profiles 24, 26 in a tubular frame design. The metal profiles 24, 26 are light metal profiles, particularly made of an aluminum alloy. To construct the frame member 14.1, 14.2, an outer first metal profile 24 and an inner second metal profile 26 are thermally separated from one another via a connecting device 28, which, for example, has connecting webs 30. A fire protection insulation material 32, which provides cooling in the event of a fire, is provided in at least one cavity of the frame member 14.1, 14.2. Fire protection insulation material 32 is also provided in an intermediate space 34 formed between the adjacent frame members 14.1, 14.2. The metal profiles 24, 26 are designed as tubular profiles. A thicker tubular profile forms the second metal profile 26 and is used to attach the frame member 14.1, 14.2 on outer walls (not shown, for further details see references [1] to [8]). A thinner tubular frame profile forms the first metal profile 24, which is designed with a holding flange 36. The holding flange 36 serves as a glass holder for those frame members 14.1 of the frames 16.1, 16.3, 16.4, 18 that hold the fire protection pane 22, while it serves as a door stop for the frame members 14.2 of the frame 16.2 of the door frame and is provided with a door seal. Accordingly, the thinner first metal profile 24 is arranged on the outer side 38 of the fire protection tubular frame closure 10 and forms the visible side thereof, while the thicker second metal profile 26 is located on the inner side 40. Furthermore, between the mutually coupled frame members 14.1, 14.2, a first coupling seal with a first sealing profile 42 is provided between the first metal profiles 24 of the first and second frame members 14.1, 14.2.Furthermore, a second coupling seal with a second sealing profile 44 is provided between the second metal profiles 26 of the first and second frame members 14.1, 14.2.
[0054] As from Fig. As can be seen in Figure 3, the coupling device 20 comprises a first fastener 46 for fastening the first metal profiles 24 of the first and second frame members 14.1, 14.2 to one another and a second fastener 48 for fastening the second metal profiles 26 of the first and second frame members 14.1, 14.2 to one another. Furthermore, the coupling device 20 comprises a guide sleeve 50.
[0055] In particular, a set of several first and second fasteners 26, 28 and guide sleeves 50 is provided to fasten the metal profiles 24, 26 of the frame members 14.1, 14.2 at several predetermined locations distributed over the extent of the frame members 14.1, 14.2 - in Fig. 1 indicated by dotted lines and also indicated in [8], Figure 2, p. 85 - to be fastened together.
[0056] How best to make the most of the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, the first fastener 46 is designed as a specially designed drilling screw 52. The drilling screw 52 has a screw head 54 with a tool engagement portion 56, followed by a preferably cylindrical, threadless shank 58 with a shank diameter SD, a first conical tapered portion 60, a neck portion 62, which is also preferably cylindrical and has a neck portion diameter HD that is smaller than the shank diameter SD, a second conical portion 64, a thread portion 68 provided with a thread 66, the outer diameter GD of which approximately corresponds to the shank diameter SD, and a drill bit 70 with a drill bit diameter BD that lies between the thread portion diameter GD / shank diameter SD and the neck portion diameter HD.
[0057] The drill bit 70 is designed to drill an opening 72 or to widen a pilot hole to form the opening 72 in the first metal profile 24. The thread 66 is designed to engage this opening 72 in order to screw the drilling screw 52 into this opening 72. In the assembled state, the neck region 62 is at the level of the first sealing profile 72 and penetrates it. Due to the smaller diameter HD, the first sealing profile 42 is not bulged. The shaft diameter SD of the shaft 58 is adapted to an inner through-opening 74 of the guide sleeve 50 such that it is guided therein essentially without play.
[0058] In the following, the structure of an embodiment of the guide sleeve 50 is described with reference to the illustrations in the Fig. 5 to 10 are explained in more detail.
[0059] The guide sleeve 50 has a main body 78 with a substantially cylindrical outer surface 80, the central axis of which is designated by reference numeral 82. The inner through-opening 74 has a likewise cylindrical inner surface 84, along which the drilling screw 52 is guided. The central axis of the inner surface is designated by reference numeral 86. The inner through-opening 74 is provided at an angle in the main body 78. In particular, the central axes 82, 86 are at an angle to one another that is in the range of 2 to 4 degrees, and in particular, 3 degrees.
[0060] Furthermore, the guide sleeve 50 has a bevel 90 at a first end 88, at which the drilling screw 52 is inserted and on which the screw head 54 rests when screwed in. At the second end 92, the guide sleeve 50 has a positioning device 94 by means of which the guide sleeve 50 can be axially positioned. The positioning device 94 has a stop surface 96 on a stepped recess 98 and locking tabs 100. The stepped recess 98 is arranged diagonally opposite the bevel 90. The recess 98 and the bevel 90 are each provided on the side of the respective end 88, 92 furthest from the central axis 86 of the inner surface.
[0061] The guide sleeve 50 is designed as an injection-molded plastic part.
[0062] It will now be Fig. 3. The second fastener 48 is in Fig. 3 is only shown schematically. In one embodiment, the second fastener 48 can be designed as is provided for the corresponding fastener in reference [8] for fastening the thicker second metal profiles 26 of the frame members 14.1, 14.2 to one another. The assembly of the second fastener 48 can also take place as shown in reference [8]. In other embodiments, the second fastener 48 is designed identically to the first fastener 46 and thus also like the drilling screw 52. The second fastener 48 can also be guided in a corresponding guide sleeve 50.
[0063] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the guide sleeve is inserted into a hole 102 on the first metal profile 24 of the first frame member 14.1 and clipped into position. The drilling screw 52 is guided through the guide sleeve 50.
[0064] For the manufacture and installation of the fire protection pipe frame closure 10 of Fig. 1 to 3 proceed as follows.
[0065] After the tubular frame assembly 12 has been designed and planned on-site according to the requirements, conditions, and dimensions of the building opening to be closed, the frame members 14.1, 14.2 are manufactured from appropriately shaped tubular frame profiles formed by the metal profiles 24, 26 and the connecting device 28. These profiles are then prepared in a machining center (CNC machine for milling, cutting, and drilling) not shown. In the machining center, the tubular frame profiles are cut to the appropriate length, and their ends are manufactured according to the desired corner design of the respective frames 16.1-16.4, 18. The fire protection materials 32 are also inserted into the desired cavities. The frame members of each frame 16.1-16.4, 18 can also be pre-assembled, so that the frame 16.1-16.4, 18 is delivered to the construction site as a complete assembly.
[0066] During preparation on the machining center, bores 102 and, if necessary, pilot bores for the coupling device 22 are also securely inserted. In particular, the bore 102 is inserted at the corresponding locations of the first metal profile 24 of the first frame member 14.1 of the first frame 16.1, corresponding to the outer circumference of the cylindrical outer surface 80.
[0067] Furthermore, the coupling device 22 is supplied with a set of first and second fasteners 46, 48 and a corresponding set of guide sleeves 50. Alternatively, the guide sleeves 50 are already clipped into the holes 102 for the guide sleeve 50 in the first metal profiles 24 of the respective first frame members 14.1.
[0068] At the construction site, the frame members 14.1, 14.2 to be coupled are arranged next to each other, with the fire protection insulation material 32 being inserted into the intermediate space 34 and the sealing profiles 42, 44 being inserted.
[0069] The second metal profiles 26 of the frame members 14.1, 14.2 arranged next to one another are fastened to one another with the second fasteners 48.
[0070] If not already pre-assembled, the guide sleeves 50 are clipped into the holes 102.
[0071] If not already pre-drilled in the machining center, a pilot hole for the opening 72 is now made on site in the first metal profile 24 of the second frame member 14.2. The installer uses a drill to create the pilot hole through the inner through-hole 74. The drilling screw 52 is then inserted into the inner through-hole 74 and screwed in, with the drill bit 70 first expanding the pilot hole to the opening 72 and then the thread 66 engaging the opening 72.
[0072] During the pilot drilling to form the opening 72, the first sealing profile 42 is also drilled through. The drill bit 70 extends through this opening 72 in the first sealing profile 42, and the threaded portion 68 is also passed through this opening 72. When screwed in, the neck portion 62 then reaches the level of the first sealing profile 42, allowing it to relieve pressure and preventing bulging.
[0073] This ensures secure screwing without risk of damage or visual impairment even with very slim first metal profiles 24.
[0074] By fastening both the first metal profiles 24 and the second metal profiles 26 of the frame members 14.1, 14.2 together, a secure connection of the frames 16.1-16.4 is ensured even in the event of a fire. Even if the light metal of the metal profiles 26 melts on one side in the event of a fire, the frame members 14.1, 14.2 are still held together by the other fasteners in the other metal profile 24, ensuring the tightness of the connection throughout the entire intended fire protection period.
