Description

Technical field of the invention

[0001] The invention relates to a planar motor drive system for conveying goods (e.g., food products). The invention further relates to an associated cleaning device for cleaning a conveying carrier of the planar motor drive system according to the invention. Background of the invention

[0002] It is known from the prior art (e.g., DE 10 2021 105 103 A1) to convey food products (e.g., stacks of cheese or sausage slices) using a planar motor drive system. For this purpose, the planar motor drive system has a horizontal conveying surface, with several conveying carriers, also referred to as "shuttles" or "mover," movably arranged on the upper surface of the conveying surface and moved along a conveying path parallel to the conveying surface by an electromagnetic drive system. The electromagnetic drive system could, for example, be the system marketed by the German company Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG under the product name XPlanar®.

[0003] The cleaning of the individual conveying carriers is problematic, as it is occasionally necessary during operation due to contamination from the conveyed food products. The electromagnetic drive system of the planar motor drive system is sensitive to moisture, making cleaning by spraying with a high-pressure cleaner impossible.

[0004] For the technical background of the invention, reference should also be made to KR 10 2063 156 B1 and JP 2019-102 658 A. Description of the invention

[0005] The invention is therefore based on the objective of solving the problem of cleaning the individual conveying carriers in such a planar motor drive system.

[0006] This problem is solved by a planar motor drive system according to the invention or by an associated cleaning device according to the independent claims.

[0007] The planar motor drive system according to the invention is generally used for conveying goods, such as food products. These food products could, for example, be stacks of sausage slices or cheese slices. However, the invention is not limited to food products with regard to the conveyed goods, but can also be implemented with other types of goods.

[0008] In accordance with the prior art, the planar motor drive system according to the invention also has a conveying surface, which is preferably arranged horizontally and houses an electromagnetic drive system underneath it, which makes it possible to move conveyed material carriers on the conveying surface along a conveying path parallel to the conveying surface, wherein such conveyed material carriers are also referred to as "shuttle" or "mover" according to the usual technical terminology.

[0009] For example, the electromagnetic drive system could be the system that is sold by the German company Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG under the product name XPlanar®.

[0010] Alternatively, the electromagnetic drive system could be the system sold by the German company Bosch Rexroth AG under the product name ctrlX FLOW6D®.

[0011] It should be noted that the invention, with regard to the design and operation of the electromagnetic drive system, is not limited to the two examples mentioned above, but can also be implemented with other types of electromagnetic drive systems.

[0012] In the previously described known planar motor drive system, the individual conveying carriers are manually removed from the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system for cleaning. This allows the individual carriers to be cleaned separately from the planar motor drive system using a high-pressure jet. However, this known method of cleaning the individual carriers is very time-consuming. The invention therefore provides that the planar motor drive system includes a handling device for picking up the conveying carriers from the conveying surface and transferring them to a separate cleaning device, the cleaning device itself being described in detail later.

[0013] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the handling device is mounted on a first edge of the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system and extends a cantilever arm from the first edge of the conveying surface over the conveying surface in order to pick up a conveying carrier located on the conveying surface. The cantilever arm preferably extends at a right angle from the first edge of the conveying surface over the conveying surface. Furthermore, the cantilever arm preferably has a mounting flange, and the cantilever arm is preferably detachably mounted to the first edge of the conveying surface with its mounting flange in order to be able to mount the cantilever arm at different positions along the first edge of the conveying surface.

[0014] The cantilever arm of the handling device extends from the first edge of the conveying surface, preferably to a second, opposite edge of the conveying surface, in order to transfer the conveyed goods carrier to be cleaned to the cleaning device at the second edge of the conveying surface, or to pick up the cleaned conveyed goods carrier from the cleaning device, with the cleaning device being positioned next to the second edge of the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system. During a cleaning process, the cleaning device is therefore first positioned next to the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system, as will be described in detail later. The handling device can then pick up the individual conveyed goods carriers from the conveying surface and transfer them to the cleaning device, or pick up the cleaned conveyed goods carriers from the cleaning device and place them back onto the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system.

[0015] In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the cantilever arm of the handling device has a pivoting mechanism with a receiver. The receiver can be pivoted by the pivoting mechanism into one of the following three positions: • a vertically raised starting position, • a vertically lowered recording position, or • a vertically raised and horizontally extended transfer position for transferring the conveying carrier to be cleaned to the cleaning device or for receiving the cleaned conveying carrier from the cleaning device.

[0016] In the raised starting position, the handling device's receiver is lifted from the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system, so that the movement of the conveyed goods on the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system is not disrupted. During normal operation of the drive system, the handling device therefore assumes the starting position.

[0017] In the lowered receiving position of the receiver, the receiver engages the conveying material carrier to be picked up on the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system in order to then be able to lift it.

[0018] In the horizontally extended transfer position, the receiver, on the other hand, protrudes beyond the edge of the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system in order to transfer a conveying carrier to be cleaned to the cleaning device or to take over a cleaned conveying carrier from the cleaning device.

[0019] The pivoting mechanism of the handling device preferably includes a movable carriage to adjust the pivoting mechanism between the starting position, the receiving position, and the transfer position. A drive motor (e.g., an electric motor) is preferably provided to move the carriage, the drive motor preferably acting on the carriage via a traction drive (e.g., a toothed belt). The drive motor for the carriage is preferably arranged on the top of the cantilever arm and preferably has an output shaft that is oriented essentially vertically.

[0020] Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the swivel mechanism can have a parallelogram linkage connecting the carriage to the pickup. When the pickup is swiveled, the parallelogram linkage ensures that it always maintains a specific angular orientation, regardless of the swivel position. Preferably, the pickup is always horizontally aligned, so that the conveying material carrier held by the pickup is also horizontally aligned.

[0021] In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the planar motor drive system includes a control unit that can control both the electromagnetic drive system and the handling device according to a cleaning program. In one version of this cleaning program, the individual conveying carriers are moved sequentially along the conveying surface to the handling device so that the handling device can pick up the conveying carriers one after the other from the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system and transfer them to the cleaning device. The cleaning program thus advantageously enables the automatic transfer of all conveying carriers to the cleaning device. The planar motor drive system and the conveying carriers can then be cleaned separately. The conveying carriers can then be cleaned, for example, using a high-pressure cleaner, as the individual carriers do not contain any moisture-sensitive electronic components. However, the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system should preferably not be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner, as the planar motor drive system, with its electromagnetic drive system, contains moisture-sensitive components.

[0022] It should be noted that the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system is preferably oriented substantially horizontally. Furthermore, it should be noted that the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system is preferably flat, smooth, and continuous, as is the case with known planar motor drive systems. It should also be noted that the electromagnetic drive system preferably operates without contact, i.e., without physical contact between the conveying surface and the individual conveyed goods. The individual conveyed goods are preferably rectangular in plan view, as is the case with prior art. In addition, it should be noted that the conveying path of the conveyed goods within the conveying surface is preferably freely programmable. The electromagnetic drive system can be composed of numerous rectangular drive modules which, when assembled, form the continuous conveying surface of the planar motor drive system.

[0023] In addition to the planar motor drive system with handling device described above, the invention also claims independent protection for an associated cleaning device for cleaning the conveying material carriers of the planar motor drive system. The cleaning device according to the invention is characterized by a magazine that allows for the simultaneous holding of several conveying material carriers, which can then be cleaned in the magazine of the cleaning device.

[0024] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the magazine is a drum magazine having several holding positions for individual conveying carriers, wherein the drum magazine with the holding positions for the individual conveying carriers is rotatable about a pivot axis. The individual holding positions for the individual conveying carriers are preferably arranged distributed around the circumference of the drum magazine, and the drum magazine can be rotated by a drive motor (e.g., an electric motor). The pivot axis of the drum magazine is preferably horizontally oriented.

[0025] The individual mounting positions of the drum magazine are preferably designed such that the individual conveying carriers in the drum magazine are each aligned in a radial plane with respect to the axis of rotation of the drum magazine, so that each conveying carrier in the drum magazine is accessible for cleaning from above with its underside in one rotational position of the drum magazine and with its top side in another rotational position. This allows all conveying carriers to be cleaned by spraying them from above with a high-pressure jet, whereby the rotation of the drum magazine allows both the top and bottom of all conveying carriers to be cleaned.

[0026] Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the magazine (e.g., a drum magazine) of the cleaning device according to the invention has an access opening for inserting the conveying carriers to be cleaned into the magazine and for removing the cleaned conveying carriers from the magazine. This access opening has a locking mechanism that only allows the removal of a conveying carrier from the magazine or the insertion of a conveying carrier into the magazine when it is unlocked. The locking mechanism of the magazine's access opening operates automatically, unlocking automatically when the cleaning device is coupled to the handling unit of the planar motor drive system, whereas the magazine's locking mechanism automatically engages when the cleaning device is disconnected from the handling unit of the planar motor drive system.

[0027] The magazine (e.g., a drum magazine) for the individual conveying carriers is preferably arranged in a wire mesh cage that is permeable to a cleaning fluid, allowing the conveying carriers in the magazine to be cleaned from the outside by spraying them with the cleaning fluid. For example, the conveying carriers in the magazine can be sprayed from the outside with a high-pressure cleaner.

[0028] The wire mesh cage preferably has a sufficiently small mesh size to prevent manual access from the outside to the conveying material carriers located inside the wire mesh cage.

[0029] Furthermore, the cleaning device preferably has a chassis with several wheels for rolling the cleaning device on a floor. In this way, the cleaning device can be rolled laterally towards the planar motor drive system for a cleaning operation. The individual wheels of the chassis can be locked to prevent the cleaning device from rolling away unintentionally when locked.

[0030] Furthermore, the mobile cleaning device can have a handrail to allow an operator to easily move it across the floor. The handrail preferably runs horizontally and at least partially surrounds the magazine containing the individual conveying carriers.

[0031] In general, it should be mentioned that the magazine can have, for example, at least 3, 5, 10, 15 or at least 20 storage positions for each conveying carrier to be cleaned.

[0032] Furthermore, it should be mentioned that if the magazine is designed as a drum magazine, it can have a diameter of at least 50 cm, 75 cm or 1 m in order to provide a sufficient number of storage positions for the individual conveying carriers.

[0033] Other advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the dependent claims or are explained in more detail below together with the description of the preferred embodiment of the invention with reference to the figures. Brief description of the drawings Fig. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a planar motor drive system according to the invention with a cleaning device according to the invention, which is docked to the planar motor drive system. Fig. Figure 4 shows a side view of the handling device of the planar motor drive system in a raised starting position. Fig. Figure 5 shows the handling device in a lowered receiving position. Fig. Figure 6 shows the handling device in a horizontally extended transfer position. Detailed description of the drawings

[0034] The following describes the embodiment of a planar motor drive system 1 according to the invention, together with an associated cleaning device 2, as shown in the drawings.

[0035] The planar motor drive system 1 can be of a largely conventional design and initially comprises a frame 3 which contains an electromagnetic drive system on its underside to move conveying carriers 4 contactlessly along a freely programmable conveying path on a conveying surface 5. The electromagnetic drive system can, for example, be the system marketed by the German company Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG under the product name XPlanar®; however, the invention is not limited to this product with regard to the type of electromagnetic drive system, but can also be implemented, for example, with the system marketed by the German company Bosch Rexroth AG under the product name ctrlX FLOW6D®.

[0036] The planar motor drive system 1 has an infeed conveyor 6 from which the food products to be conveyed (e.g., stacks of cheese slices or sausage slices) are conveyed onto the conveying surface 5. Furthermore, the planar motor drive system 1 can have a corresponding outfeed conveyor which is connected to Fig. 1 is concealed by the cleaning device 2. Further details of the planar motor drive system 1 are described, for example, in German patent application DE 10 2021 105 105 A1.

[0037] In addition, the planar motor drive system 1 has several covers 7-12 on the sides, which are pivotable and make it possible to close the frame 3 laterally.

[0038] The special feature according to the invention is that a handling device 14 is attached to an edge 13 of the conveying surface 5 opposite the cleaning device 2. This handling device serves to pick up the individual conveying carriers 4 from the conveying surface 5 of the planar motor drive system 1 and transfer them to the cleaning device 2, as will be described in detail below. Furthermore, the handling device 14 also serves to take the cleaned conveying carriers 4 from the cleaning device 2 and place them back onto the conveying surface 5 of the planar motor drive system 1.

[0039] The handling device 14 initially has a mounting flange 15 with which the handling device 14 is attached to the edge 13 of the conveying surface 5 of the planar motor drive system 1. The attachment of the handling device 14 to the edge 13 of the conveying surface by means of the mounting flange 15 is detachable, so that the handling device 14 can be attached at any position along the edge 13 of the conveying surface 5.

[0040] A cantilever arm 16 extends from the mounting flange 15 of the handling device 14, which has an inclined arm 17 and a horizontal arm 18 that are slightly angled towards each other.

[0041] The horizontal arm 18 of the cantilever arm 16 contains a guide rail 19 for a movable carriage 20, wherein the carriage 20 is movable along the guide rail 19.

[0042] A drive motor 21, which is located on the top of the horizontal arm 18 of the cantilever arm 16 and acts on the carriage 20 via a toothed belt, is used to move the carriage 20 along the guide rail 19.

[0043] Furthermore, the handling device 14 has a receiver 22 which makes it possible to lift the conveying material carrier 4 from the conveying surface 5 or to place it on the conveying surface 5.

[0044] The sensor 22 is connected to the slide 20 via a parallelogram guide 23. The parallelogram guide 23 ensures that the sensor 22 is always horizontally aligned, regardless of its pivot position.

[0045] Fig. Figure 4 shows an initial position of the receiver 22. In this initial position, the receiver 22 is lifted from the conveying surface 5 of the planar motor drive system 1, so that the conveyed material carriers 4 can move freely on the conveying surface 5 without the receiver 22 interfering with the movement of the conveyed material carriers 4.

[0046] Fig. Figure 5, on the other hand, shows a vertically lowered receiving position of the receiver 22. In this receiving position, the receiver 22 engages the conveying carrier 4 on the conveying surface 5 in order to subsequently lift the conveying carrier 4 from the conveying surface 5.

[0047] Fig. Figure 6 shows a transfer position for transferring the conveying carrier 4 to the cleaning device 2 or for receiving the cleaned conveying carrier 4 from the cleaning device 2. In this transfer position, the receiver 22 is vertically lifted from the conveying surface 5 of the planar motor drive system 1 and extended horizontally towards the cleaning device 2.

[0048] The adjustment between the starting position ( Fig. 4), the recording position ( Fig. 5) and the handover ( Fig. 6) is achieved by a corresponding displacement of the carriage 20 along the guide rail 19.

[0049] The cleaning device 2 will now be described in more detail, with particular attention paid to the Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. Reference is made to this.

[0050] The cleaning device 2 initially comprises a chassis 24 with several lockable wheels 25. The cleaning device 2 can thus be rolled laterally towards the planar motor drive system 1 by means of the chassis 24, as shown in Fig. 1 is shown.

[0051] In this case, an operator can grasp the cleaning device 2 by a laterally surrounding handrail 26 and roll the cleaning device 2 into the desired position to the side next to the planar motor drive system 1.

[0052] The cleaning device 2 has a drum magazine 27 which contains numerous receiving positions 28, each for one of the conveying carriers 4. The drum magazine 27 can be rotated about a horizontal axis of rotation by a drive motor 29.

[0053] The individual receiving positions 28 for the respective conveying carriers 4 are located within a wire mesh cage 30, which is permeable to a cleaning fluid. The conveying carriers 4 located in the drum magazine 27 can therefore be cleaned from the outside by spraying a cleaning fluid through the wire mesh cage 30 onto the conveying carriers 4 in the receiving positions 28 of the drum magazine 27 using a high-pressure cleaner.

[0054] Furthermore, the cleaning device 2 has an access opening 31 through which the individual conveying carriers 4 can be inserted into or removed from the drum magazine 27. The access opening 31 has an automatic locking mechanism that locks automatically when the handling device 14 is disconnected from the cleaning device 2, whereas the locking mechanism unlocks automatically when the handling device 14 is connected to the cleaning device 2. Advantages of the invention

[0055] The invention offers, among other things, the following advantages: • The conveyor carriers can be cleaned separately from the planar motor drive system. Therefore, a high-pressure cleaner can be used to clean the conveyor carriers, as there is no need to take precautions against the moisture-sensitive components of the planar motor drive system. • During the cleaning of the conveying surface of the planar motor drive system, the conveyed material carriers can be temporarily stored in the magazine of the cleaning device. • The conveyor carriers and the planar motor drive system can be cleaned simultaneously. • The transfer of individual conveying carriers between the planar motor drive system and the cleaning device can be automated, which is safer than manual transfer by an operator. The invention thus offers maximum safety for the operating personnel.
