Description of the state of the art
[0002] As the importance of environmental protection becomes increasingly important, eco-friendliness has become a major challenge for the automotive industry. Regulations on vehicle emissions are also becoming increasingly stringent.
[0003] The pollutants emitted by vehicles can be primarily divided into pollutants from exhaust systems and pollutants from non-emission systems. Pollutants emitted from exhaust systems are pollutants contained in the exhaust gases or similar products produced during the operation of a vehicle engine, and are already regulated in many countries. Pollutant emissions from non-emission systems are also expected to be regulated in many countries.
[0004] Among the pollutants emitted from non-exhaust systems, in particular, the dust generated by the abrasion caused by the frictional force between a brake pad and a drum during braking of a vehicle contains a large amount of harmful substances, and therefore, in accordance with a situation where the regulations on harmful dust or particulate matter are gradually tightened, there is a need for a method for minimizing the harmful dust and particulate matter.
[0005] In addition, dust generated by abrasion due to the frictional force between the brake pad and the drum when a vehicle is braking spreads throughout the drum, resulting in a deterioration in braking performance as the dust adheres to parts inside the drum. SUMMARY

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0031] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The embodiments described below are exemplary in order to sufficiently inform those skilled in the art about the spirit of the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described below, but may also be implemented in other forms. In the drawings, parts irrelevant to the descriptions may be omitted in order to clarify the present disclosure, and further, the sizes of the components may be exaggerated to varying degrees for clarity.
[0032] The Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 correspond to a front cross-sectional view and a side cross-sectional view of a dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In addition, Fig. 3A and Fig. 3B are each a plan view illustrating a case where inlet holes are formed in the axial direction in the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig. 4A and Fig. 4B are each a plan view showing a case where inlet holes are formed in the circumferential direction in the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0033] As in the Fig. 1 to 4, the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a brake shoe 100 and a brake pad 200.
[0034] The brake shoe 100 includes an arcuate rim part 110 corresponding to an outer peripheral surface and a housing part 120 that is fixed to the rim part 110 and forms an inner space. In this case, the rim part 110 and the housing part 120 may further include fastening structures, each including a fastening rib and a fastening groove into which the fastening rib is inserted, so that they can be detached from each other. Furthermore, the brake shoe 100 may be manufactured by welding a metal plate or by casting.
[0035] The rim part 110 contains a plurality of inlet holes 111 arranged at a certain distance. In this case, as shown in Fig. 3, the plurality of inlet holes 111 may be formed in an axial direction along the outer peripheral surface of the brake shoe 100. The axial direction corresponds to the direction of the central axis of an arc forming an overall shape of the brake shoe 100. As shown in Fig. 4, the plurality of inlet holes 111 may also be formed circumferentially along the outer peripheral surface of the brake shoe 100.
[0036] The housing part 120 has the shape of a cup with a generally open upper portion, and as described above, the rim part 110 is connected to the upper portion to form the interior of the brake shoe 100. In this case, the interior of the housing part 120 can be communicated with the outside through the inlet opening 111. Furthermore, the housing part 120 can be manufactured by welding a metal plate or by casting. Furthermore, the housing part 120 can include a filter 121 fixed to at least an inner surface or an inner bottom surface, which form the interior of the brake shoe 100. In this case, various known filters can be used as the filter 121, and the filter 121 can be provided so as to be detachable from the housing part 120.
[0037] The brake shoe 100 may further include a wing 130 having a plate-like shape extending from a bottom surface and both side surfaces of the housing part 120. The wing 130 may serve to attach parts used when the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is installed on a drum brake, and may be provided integrally with the housing part 120.
[0038] The brake pad 200 is made of a friction material that comes into direct contact with an inner peripheral surface of a drum 400, stops the rotation of the drum 400, and converts kinetic energy into thermal energy. Various friction materials can be used that exhibit a small change in friction coefficient with temperature and have excellent mechanical strength. Furthermore, the brake pad 200 is mounted on the outer surface of the brake shoe 100 so as to bypass the inlet hole 111. Specifically, the brake pad 200 is provided and fixed to an outer peripheral surface of the rim part 110. Furthermore, the brake pad 200 may be formed as shown in FIGS. Fig. 3A and Fig. 4A, with respect to the inlet holes 111 to be provided as a plurality of brake pads 200, or, as shown in the Fig. 3B and Fig. 4B, the brake pad 200 may be provided integrally and may have brake pad holes 210 formed at positions constituting the inlet holes 111.
[0039] Accordingly, dust generated by friction between the brake pad 200 and the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400 can enter the interior of the brake shoe 100 through the inlet port 111 or the brake pad port 210 and the inlet port 111 and be trapped by the filter 121. Furthermore, in the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure as described above, since the separation between the rim part 110 and the housing part 120 and the separation between the housing part 120 and the filter 121 are possible, it is possible to easily replace the filter 121 that is running out.
[0040] Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 are a front cross-sectional view and a side cross-sectional view showing a drum brake including a dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0041] With reference to the Fig. 1 to 6, the drum brake including the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises a back plate 300 coupled to a vehicle body of a vehicle; a drum 400 provided on one side of the back plate 300 and rotating together with a wheel; a pair of brake shoes 100 each having an arc shape and an internal space formed therein for communicating with the outside through inlet holes 111 formed in an outer peripheral surface at a preset interval, and arranged on both inner sides of the drum and installed on the back plate 300; brake pads 200 provided on the outer peripheral surfaces of the brake shoes 100 so as to bypass the inlet holes 111; an actuator 500 provided on the back plate 300 and actuating the brake shoe 100 outward toward an inner peripheral surface of the drum 400;so that the brake pad 200 comes into close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400, and a return element 600 provided on the back plate 300 and providing a return force so that the brake pad 200 is separated from the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400 after the brake shoe 100 is actuated outwardly.
[0042] Among the configurations of the brake shoe 100 and the brake pad 200, the same configurations as those of the above-described dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure are omitted.
[0043] The brake shoe 100 may further include guide ribs 112 projecting from the outer peripheral surfaces of the inlet holes 111 toward the interior of the brake shoe 100. In this case, the guide rib 112 may be provided such that a lower end portion thereof projecting toward the interior of the brake shoe 100 is inclined more in a rotational direction of a wheel of a vehicle on which the drum brake including the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is installed than an upper end portion thereof provided on the outer peripheral surface of the inlet opening 111.
[0044] Accordingly, dust generated by friction between the brake pad 200 and the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400 can be more effectively introduced into the interior of the brake shoe 100 through the inlet opening 111 or a brake pad hole 210 and the inlet opening 111.
[0045] A wing 130 may include an anchor pin 131 provided to prevent separation between the brake shoes 100 when a pair of dust collectors for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is arranged so that the brake pad 200 faces the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400.
[0046] As in Fig. As shown in FIG. 5, the back plate 300 has a circular shape as a whole. In a state where the actuator 500, the return member 600, and the pair of dust collectors for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure are mounted on one surface of the plate 300 such that the brake pad 200 faces the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400, and thus the back plate 300 is fixed to the vehicle body of the vehicle.
[0047] The drum 400 has a hollow cylindrical shape with an open surface as a whole. The drum 400 can be mounted on the wheel of the vehicle so that it is adjacent to the back plate 300, so that the actuator 500, the return element 600, and the pair of dust collectors for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure are mounted to be located near the one open surface and thereby rotate together with the wheel.
[0048] As the actuator 500, various known types can be used, including a hydraulic type having a piston moved forward or backward by hydraulic pressure in a cylinder or an electromechanical type having a piston moved forward or backward by an electric motor.
[0049] The return element 600 comprises one or more elastic elements and corresponds to a return force such that the brake pad 200 is spaced from the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400 when the braking is released after the brake pad 200 has come into close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the drum 400 by the actuator 500 and the vehicle braking is completed. Various known elements and structures can be used for the return element 600.
[0050] Furthermore, the drum brake including the dust collector for a drum brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include a device for arranging the brake shoe 100 when the brake pad 200 is worn and a braking force is reduced.
[0051] Therefore, in the drum brake having the dust collector for a drum brake according to the present embodiment, dust generated due to friction between the drum 400 and the brake pad 200 can be prevented from being discharged to the outside of the drum 400 during braking, and braking performance can be prevented from being deteriorated due to dust adhering to parts inside the drum 400.
[0052] Furthermore, in the drum brake having the dust collector for a drum brake according to the present embodiment, the noise generated by the friction between the drum 400 and the brake pad 200 during braking can be reduced by the interior of the brake shoe 100 provided for dust collection, thereby providing a comfortable driving environment for the vehicle occupants.
[0053] Although specific embodiments of the dust collector for a drum brake and the drum brake corresponding thereto according to the present disclosure have been described above, it is obvious that a variety of modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.
[0054] In a dust collector for a drum brake and a drum brake according to the present disclosure, dust generated by friction between a drum and a brake pad during braking can be prevented from being discharged to the outside of the drum, thereby significantly reducing pollutants discharged from a vehicle.
[0055] In a dust collector for a drum brake and a drum brake incorporating the same according to the present disclosure, dust generated due to friction between a drum and a brake pad during braking can be prevented from spreading and accumulating inside the drum, thereby preventing deterioration of braking performance due to adhesion of the dust to parts inside the drum.
[0056] In a dust collector for a drum brake and a drum brake incorporating the same according to the present disclosure, noise generated by friction between a drum and a brake pad during braking can be reduced, thereby providing a comfortable driving environment for vehicle occupants.
[0057] Therefore, the scope of the present disclosure should not be limited to the embodiments described above, but should be determined by the following claims and their equivalents.
[0058] That is, the embodiments described above are to be considered exemplary and not restrictive in all respects. The scope of the present disclosure is indicated by the following claims rather than by the detailed description. It is to be understood that all changes and modifications that come within the meaning, scope, and equivalents of the claims are included within the scope of the present disclosure.
