Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an energy measuring unit for measuring electrical energy quantities in charging connection devices for electric vehicles, and to a charging connection device for electric vehicles with such an energy measuring unit as defined in the claims.
[0002] Especially for measuring devices used in billing for power or energy consumption based on usage, measurement accuracy is of paramount importance. The accuracy of these devices must be maintained over the long term and may therefore be subject to mandatory, state-regulated calibration, particularly when there is a public interest. Government calibration laws may exist primarily to protect consumers. These laws can vary between countries or even regions, especially regarding the scope of testing and the frequency of recurring tests.
[0003] Accurate and legally compliant determination of the amount of energy effectively supplied to a user or energy consumer is of paramount importance, especially in connection with billing for energy consumption. However, precisely determining the amount of energy supplied and complying with applicable calibration regulations presents technical and organizational challenges for publicly accessible, infrastructure-based charging points for electric vehicles.
[0004] The object of the present invention was to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide technical measures or devices by means of which a legally compliant supply of electrical energy to charging connection devices for electric vehicles can be achieved with the least possible organizational and technical effort.
[0005] This task is solved by an energy measuring unit and a charging connection device for electric vehicles according to the claims.
[0006] The energy measuring unit according to the invention for measuring electrical energy quantities in charging connection devices for electric vehicles comprises - an energy measuring device, which is preferably electronically constructed and contains no moving parts, wherein the energy input interface of the energy measuring device can be coupled to an electrical power supply, and wherein the amount of energy detectable by the energy measuring device can be made available for electrical consumers at the consumer-side energy output interface, and - a data communication interface which is set up to transmit measurement data recorded by the energy measuring device to connectable electronic processing devices, in particular to a functional operating control, for example to a so-called application board, and / or to a mobile device, in particular to a smartphone of an operator, and / or to a system for electronic data processing, in particular via a data interface, such as LAN or WLAN.
[0007] The energy metering unit also includes a charging cable for transferring energy to an electric vehicle. The charging cable is at least one meter long and its first end is permanently connected to the energy output interface. A permanent connection means that the charging cable cannot be disconnected by an operator and is permanently attached to the energy metering device or the charging port. In particular, the charging cable cannot be disconnected from the energy metering device or the charging port without the use of tools.
[0008] If necessary, this fixed connection or interface between the charging cable and the energy measuring device may include a tamper detection device, in particular a seal, a tamper-evident seal, or a locking mechanism that can only be removed by destruction to detect unauthorized manipulation and / or a non-removable clamping or plug connection for the charging cable.
[0009] The charging cable has a charging plug at its other end for an electric vehicle. This charging plug represents the transfer point or interface for electrical energy to the electric vehicle being charged.
[0010] The energy measuring device can be configured to at least take into account or determine the energy loss caused by the ohmic resistance of the charging cable during the active charging of an electric vehicle, and accordingly to determine, in particular calculate, the amount of energy effectively made available at the charging plug, i.e., at the interface to the electric vehicle. The calculated or determined effective or actual values of the energy quantity, for example in kWh, can be used as base values for billing processes.
[0011] In particular, the energy measuring device can be configured to take into account the energy loss when charging an electric vehicle, wherein the energy loss occurs at least at one of the following ohmic resistances: the ohmic resistance of the charging cable, the contact resistance at the energy output interface, the resistance of electrical components and / or lines of the energy measuring unit, and based on this, to determine the amount of energy effectively made available at the charging plug.
[0012] The accuracy in determining the amount of energy effectively supplied at the charging plug should lie within legally relevant or prescribed measurement or recording tolerances. In particular, the respective cable length, cross-sectional area, and material of the charging cable influence its electrical resistance and thus its electrical power loss. The electrical contact resistances between the charging cable and the charging plug also have a certain influence on the amount of energy effectively supplied to an electric vehicle or its energy storage system (charging electronics and battery). According to an advantageous embodiment, the contact resistances of such connectors to the charging plug, or the electrical resistances of the charging plug itself, are also taken into account when determining the effectively supplied amount of energy.
[0013] The sophisticated measures implemented result in an improved energy metering unit for electric vehicle charging stations, which can be easily replaced if needed or in case of a malfunction. The electronic energy metering device is integrated into the charging station's housing. A charging station of this type can also be referred to as a charging station or "wallbox." In particular, if the charging cable, which is permanently attached to the energy metering device, malfunctions or its insulation is damaged, the charging station can be quickly put back into operation by simply replacing the charging cable and the attached energy metering device. This eliminates the need for time-consuming testing and calibration procedures at each charging station.Furthermore, economic advantages and resource conservation can be achieved because a defective unit consisting of an energy measuring device and charging cable can be repaired by the manufacturer or an authorized repair center, subsequently tested or recalibrated and then put back into service.
[0014] With standard, well-known charging point devices, the entire charging station is replaced in the event of a fault or damage. This means that the housing or mounting base and, if necessary, other installation components also typically need to be replaced. Depending on the charging station's design, this could previously be quite complex and sometimes required several specialists. Alternatively, the charging station could be repaired on-site. However, this required subsequent calibration, for example, by authorities or accredited testing institutes. Furthermore, such calibration could only be carried out after the charging station had been repaired and again required costly specialists. In some cases, complex on-site testing equipment was required, and in certain environments or situations, climate-controlled conditions had to be created to enable legally compliant verification or adjustment of the charging station in question. These technical, organizational, and economic challenges can be better addressed with a sophisticated energy metering unit or charging connection device.
[0015] It is advisable that the components of the energy measuring unit be electrically dimensioned or designed such that the amount of energy delivered at the charging plug corresponds to the amount of energy measured by the energy measuring device in such a way that any deviations remain within a previously specified maximum deviation. This can be achieved by selecting components with the lowest possible resistance or by using sufficiently large conductor cross-sections. It is advantageous if the previously specified maximum deviation is defined in such a way that compliance with national or regional limits for measurement deviation is also ensured when the specified maximum deviation is met.
[0016] According to a practical embodiment, the length of the charging cable permanently attached to the energy metering unit (including the vehicle-side charging plug) can range from 1 to 25 meters, particularly from 2 to 5 meters. Especially with longer charging cables and high charging capacities, the power or energy loss caused by the charging cable can be significant. The energy metering unit takes these charging or energy losses into account, so that the user of the charging device can be billed for the exact or significantly more accurate amount of energy actually drawn by the electric vehicle.
[0017] A charging cable that is permanently attached to the energy metering unit or the charging port equipped with it offers the advantage of always meeting the desired or standardized requirements and always being available at the charging port. Furthermore, this allows for a more convenient and faster start to charging the electric vehicle.
[0018] Furthermore, it may be provided that the unit consisting of the energy measuring device and the charging cable connected to it and / or the energy measuring device is certifiable or certified in accordance with the measurement and calibration law applicable in the country or region, abbreviated as “MessEG”, and / or complies with the requirements of the “Measuring Instruments Directive”, in particular in accordance with MID 2014 / 32 / EU.
[0019] Furthermore, the energy measuring device or unit may include a calibration device implemented in software and / or hardware, and / or be coupled to such a device for calibration purposes. This calibration device is configured to incorporate the ohmic resistance(s) of the multi-core charging cable into the preferably computational determination of the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug. This allows for the construction of an energy measuring unit that can reliably determine the actual amount of energy supplied to an electric vehicle with reasonable technical effort.
[0020] An advantageous embodiment includes the calibration device being further configured to incorporate the ohmic resistances of a power switching element, arranged in the current flow direction between the energy input interface and the energy output interface, and / or the ohmic resistances of intervening electrical conductors, such as the conductor tracks of a printed circuit board or separate conductor wires, into the determination of the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug. This also takes into account energy losses that occur upstream of the charging cable with respect to the current flow direction, particularly between the energy measuring device and the charging cable. The electrical energy effectively transferred to an electric vehicle can thus be determined even more precisely.
[0021] According to an advantageous embodiment, the calibration device can incorporate a compensation value or offset. This compensation value is determined through metrological and calibration-related testing procedures on or with the energy measuring unit and is included in the calculation of the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug. These testing and measurement procedures, and the resulting compensation value, enable precise, device-specific consideration of energy losses occurring in the transmission path between the energy measuring device and the electric vehicle being charged. The correspondingly determined compensation or offset value can be easily incorporated into the calculation of the actual energy consumption, particularly through computation.
[0022] Furthermore, it can be advantageous for the energy metering unit to include a unique, digital identifier, in particular an identification number (ID), which can be read and validated by electronically linked processing devices, such as an electronic control unit for a charging point. Use of the energy metering unit or operation of the charging point is only permitted after a successful validity check. This reliably prevents operation with incompatible components.
[0023] The object of the invention is also solved by a charging connection device for electric vehicles, generally also referred to as a charging station.
[0024] The charging port device includes - a first interface for obtaining electrical energy from a stationary power supply network, - a second interface with a charging cable connected to it, wherein the charging cable is permanently connected to the second interface at its first end, and which charging cable has a charging plug at its second end, which charging plug is intended for establishing an electrical connection with a charging interface of an electric vehicle, - an electronic operating control system with which the charging process of an electric vehicle can be monitored and / or influenced, - an energy measuring unit for measuring the amount of energy flowing over or through the charging connection device, and - an outer casing in which at least the electronic operating control and the energy measuring unit are housed.
[0025] In the charging connection device according to the invention, the energy measuring unit is designed at least according to claim 1.
[0026] This energy metering unit can be configured to determine the amount of energy supplied by the charging connection device, with any deviation from the actual energy delivered at the charging plug remaining within a previously specified measurement tolerance. This can be ensured by configuring the energy metering unit to specifically account for and determine the energy loss caused by the charging cable during the charging of an electric vehicle and to ascertain the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug. The calculated or determined effective or actual values of the energy quantity, for example in kWh, can then be used as the basis for billing purposes.
[0027] As explained above, an improved energy metering unit for electric vehicle charging stations can be developed, which can be easily replaced if needed or in case of a fault. The electronic energy metering device of the unit is integrated into the housing of the charging station. In particular, if the charging cable, which is permanently attached to the energy metering device, malfunctions or its insulation is damaged, the charging station can be quickly put back into operation by simply replacing the charging cable and the attached energy metering device.
[0028] In particular, it may be advantageous if the energy measuring unit, with its energy measuring device and the permanently connected charging cable, is designed as a structurally integrated or integral replacement component of the charging connection device.
[0029] According to an advantageous embodiment, the outer housing of the charging connection device may be provided without any sealing measures relating to legal requirements for calibration and / or the measuring accuracy of the charging connection device. However, the energy measuring unit is assigned at least one sealing measure by which it is readily apparent or verifiable whether the energy measuring unit complies with metrological and calibration regulations. Such sealing measures are known, for example, as lead seals, tamper-evident labels, or special varnishes. Such sealing measures can be used to make the verification or acceptance of measuring instruments readily apparent. In particular, the at least one sealing measure may be formed by at least one lead seal on the energy measuring unit.Furthermore, the outer housing of the charging connection device and the energy metering unit are designed such that the energy metering unit intended for installation in the charging connection device can be installed in the outer housing of the charging connection device while maintaining the integrity of at least one of its sealing measures. This can be achieved, for example, by an appropriate design and / or arrangement of the electrical interfaces of the energy metering unit and the charging connection device.
[0030] With the embodiment described above, the energy metering unit of the charging connection device can be replaced without any breach of seals. In particular, this advantageously allows an energy metering unit to be replaced—for example, because the permanently attached charging cable has been damaged or has otherwise become defective or unusable, such as due to strong UV radiation—without requiring a new inspection of the entire charging connection device for compliance with measurement and calibration regulations. The necessary application or renewal of seals on the outer housing of the charging connection device is also advantageously eliminated. Repairs and servicing of the charging connection device are therefore relatively simple and straightforward. In particular, the measures described eliminate the need for complex inspection and sealing procedures for the entire charging point assembly, which can generally only be performed by authorized personnel, directly at the installation site. Since the energy metering unit, including the charging cable, has been pre-checked for compliance with measurement and calibration regulations and sealed accordingly, a relatively quick, efficient, and cost-effective replacement of an energy metering unit, along with a potentially defective charging cable, is possible. This can improve overall satisfaction with charging points and support the expansion of publicly accessible charging infrastructure.
[0031] Furthermore, it may be advantageous if the energy measuring device of the energy measuring unit is configured to take into account the energy loss when charging an electric vehicle, where the energy loss occurs at least at one of the following resistances: the ohmic resistance of the charging cable, the contact resistance at the energy output interface, the resistance of electrical components and / or lines of the energy measuring unit, and if the energy measuring device is configured to determine, based on this, the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug.
[0032] According to another advantageous embodiment, the replacement component can also be provided with a nameplate containing all necessary data for the replacement component. This nameplate data can also include information relating to measurement and / or calibration regulations. To make this information easily accessible, an advantageous implementation provides an opening in the outer housing of the charging connection device, allowing a view of the nameplate inside. It may be advantageous for the opening in the outer housing to be equipped with a viewing window, thus protecting the internal parts of the charging connection device from environmental influences.
[0033] Furthermore, it is possible to affix additional nameplate information to the outer housing. This nameplate information should, of course, only include information that cannot be directly attributed to the replacement component. For example, the outer housing variant or the mounting variant could be noted here. However, it could also include information about components located inside the housing that are not necessarily intended as replacement components, e.g., regarding an electronic application board, particularly concerning the operating control.
[0034] This option is particularly useful when the information on both nameplates is positioned side by side in such a way that it can be read simultaneously. This allows users to see all the necessary information at a glance.
[0035] An additional advantage is that when components are replaced, the nameplate is automatically updated. This reduces the likelihood of incorrect information on nameplates, which often occurs when components are replaced because a nameplate has to be corrected, covered, or replaced, for example, with a self-adhesive label.
[0036] This is particularly advantageous when replacing components, as no seal needs to be broken for the exchange. This allows, for example, legally compliant repairs to be carried out by personnel without having to reseal the entire charging station, while simultaneously ensuring the type plate is correctly adapted.
[0037] The aspects of nameplate design described in the preceding paragraphs are, of course, not limited to charging stations. Design elements or partial aspects could be used in any technical product, provided it consists of multiple components where at least one component can be replaced and this replaceable component contains relevant information for nameplates. While this applies particularly to measuring instruments, it is also the case for machine tools, configurable or customizable products, and consumer products, such as products with varying functionalities, performance, accuracy, safety, or noise levels, and is therefore equally relevant.
[0038] According to an advantageous embodiment, the aforementioned measurement component further comprises a power switching element for the control-controlled switching and interruption of electrical charging energy, but not the electronic operating control of the charging connection device. A particular advantage is that, in the event of a replacement of the unit consisting of the energy measuring device and charging cable, the individual settings or parameters of the charging connection device are retained either completely or at least partially. This could include, for example, an individual setting for a maximum charging power or a maximum current. Furthermore, usage data or user settings can thus be protected from unintentional loss, and time-consuming reconfiguration of a repaired charging connection device or special data transfers can be avoided. The structural combination or assignment of the power switching element to the energy measuring unit offers the advantage that the technically and safety-related power part of the charging connection device can always be completely replaced if necessary.
[0039] According to a suitably designed embodiment, the energy metering unit can be installed in the charging port for electric vehicles without impairing a tamper detection device, in particular a seal, which allows the tamper detection device to recognize whether unauthorized manipulations have been carried out on the fixed connection of the charging cable at the energy output interface. According to an advantageous further development, the replacement component of the charging port includes a unique, digital identifier, in particular at least an identification number, which can be recorded and verified by the operating control unit of the charging port. Furthermore, the operating control unit is configured to only allow the replacement component to be installed if the charging port is properly registered or if the tamper detection device is properly registered.A fundamental requirement for a positive verification result regarding the data identification is the ability to put the power switching element into the active state, i.e., the electrically conducting or switched-on state. This reliably prevents the charging connection device from being operated with an uncalibrated energy measuring unit, one whose calibration has expired, or a technically unsuitable unit.
[0040] In particular, it can be advantageous if the replacement component, including the energy metering device and the charging cable, is certified or certifiable under metrological and calibration law, and if such certification or certificate is represented or digitally indicated by a unique, digital identifier, especially by at least one identification number. This enables automatic, and in particular software-based, verification of the properties, legal admissibility, or suitability of the energy metering unit integrated into the charging connection device.
[0041] Furthermore, the charging connection device can incorporate a safety controller, which is configured for data-related interaction with the electronic operating control system and is designed to increase the functional safety, particularly personal safety, of the charging connection device. This allows potentially critical malfunctions of the charging connection devices to be reliably prevented.
[0042] Furthermore, the safety controller can be integrated into the replacement component. This allows safety-relevant units of the charging connection device to be structurally grouped together, enabling quick and easy updates or replacements.
[0043] Another advantageous configuration is one in which the electronic operating control includes an electronic memory for the non-volatile storage of individual settings or parameters of the charging connection device, such as maximum charging current, charging station ID, data communication settings, or combinations thereof. As explained above, a particular advantage of this measure is that, in the event of a replacement of the energy metering device and charging cable, the individual settings or parameters of the charging connection device are retained either completely or at least partially. This can facilitate a quick and reliable recommissioning of the charging connection device.
[0044] According to a further development, the energy measuring device and at least the power switching element, which is preferably designed as a multi-pole relay, are separated or spatially isolated from the electrical components of the operating control system by means of an additional protective housing within the outer housing or by means of at least one partition within the outer housing. This creates a clearly identifiable separation between the energy measuring unit, which is relevant for measurement and calibration law, and the other electrotechnical components of the charging connection device. This prevents unintentional interference or unwanted manipulation of the energy measuring unit and also raises awareness of the risks associated with accessing the charging connection device housing.
[0045] Furthermore, it can be advantageous if the energy measuring device and at least the power switching element, which is preferably designed as a multi-pole relay, are mounted on a common circuit board, and this circuit board is separated or spatially isolated from the electrical components of the operating control system by means of an additional protective housing or at least one partition. Mounting the electrotechnical components of the energy measuring device and the power switching element on a common circuit board facilitates efficient mass production of charging connection devices. Moreover, this creates a cohesive electrotechnical unit via the circuit board, which facilitates the rapid and error-free replacement of a defective energy measuring unit.
[0046] To better understand the invention, it is explained in more detail with reference to the following figures.
[0047] They each show, in a highly simplified, schematic representation: Fig. 1 an exemplary charging system comprising a charging connection device and an electric vehicle connectable thereto, Fig. 2 a schematic representation of the charging port device of Fig. 1.
[0048] It should be noted at the outset that in the differently described embodiments, identical parts are provided with the same reference numerals or component designations, and the disclosures contained in the entire description can be applied analogously to identical parts with the same reference numerals or component designations. Furthermore, the positional designations chosen in the description, such as top, bottom, side, etc., refer to the figure directly described and illustrated, and these positional designations must be applied analogously to the new position if the position changes.
[0049] In the Fig. 1 and Fig. Figure 2 illustrates an embodiment of a charging connection device 1 for electric vehicles V. This charging connection device 1 is designed for charging or regenerating the energy storage device A of an electric vehicle by electrically connecting the charging connection device 1 to the energy storage device A or to the charging electronics E of the electric vehicle V. The charging connection device 1 is to be understood as a source of electrical energy via which electrical energy can be transferred to the at least one energy storage device A of an electric vehicle V. The charging connection device 1 represents a type of intelligent charging station for electric vehicles V, especially when the charging electronics E are integrated into the vehicle. However, it is also possible to assign charging electronics to the charging connection device 1.to integrate charging electronics into the charging connection device 1, which converts and provides the electrical energy supplied on the input side into a form suitable or adapted for charging the energy storage device A in the electric vehicle V.
[0050] How best to draw from a synthesis of Fig. 1 and Fig. As can be seen in Figure 2, the charging connection device 1 comprises a plurality of electrotechnical components 2, which are enclosed by a housing 3, for example, a multi-part housing. These electrotechnical components 2 also include electronic components or assemblies. The electrotechnical components 2 serve to switch and / or distribute and / or measure and / or monitor the received and / or delivered electrical energy. Depending on the embodiment of the charging connection device 1, the electrotechnical components 2 may include at least one component selected from the group comprising power switching elements 4, such as contactors or power semiconductor switching modules, residual current circuit breakers or residual current monitoring devices 5, relays, terminal blocks 6, electronic circuits, and the like. Thus, electronic assemblies are also included among the electrotechnical components 2.
[0051] The electrotechnical components 2 comprise at least one so-called printed circuit board 7, 7', on which a plurality of electronic components for controlling and / or measuring and / or monitoring the energy states at the charging connection device 1 or in the electric vehicle V to which it can be connected are arranged. In particular, a control and / or evaluation device is provided – hereinafter referred to as the operating control unit 8 – which is at least partially formed on a first printed circuit board 7. Optionally, the operating control unit 8 can include at least one data communication interface 9. Fig. 2 - comprising, via which data communication between the operating control unit 8 or the charging connection device 1 and peripheral electronic or electrotechnical units, for example a billing center and / or a user's mobile device, for example a smartphone, is enabled. The communication interface 9 can be wired, for example formed by a LAN connection, and / or represent a communication interface based on radio technology, for example according to a WLAN or Bluetooth standard. Preferably, the electronically implemented energy measuring device 20 described below is arranged on a second circuit board 7', which is separate from the first circuit board 7.
[0052] The charging connection device 1, or its energy measuring unit 28, has at least one energy input interface 10 for supplying or feeding in electrical energy from, for example, a stationary power supply network M. In particular, the electrical energy required for transmission to a connected electric vehicle V is supplied to the charging connection device 1, or the energy measuring unit 28, via this energy input interface 10. The energy input interface 10 is designed as a line interface, preferably for connecting cable conductors. To transmit the typically required electrical power to the charging connection device 1, cable cross-sections of between 4 and 16 mm² are usually used. 2The energy input interface 10 thus serves as a connection point for an electrical supply line 11 from the local or domestic power supply network M and can be implemented directly on the energy metering unit 28. The electrical energy is drawn from a single-phase or, preferably, multi-phase power supply network M with a standardized or typical household mains voltage, for example, 230 V AC or 400 V AC in Europe. For example, the energy supply or power line is provided via at least one opening in the housing cover of the charging connection device 1. Of course, it is also possible to provide the side walls, the rear wall, and / or the base plate of the housing 3 with at least one cable entry for the electrical supply line 11.
[0053] The electrical connection of the charging connection device 1 or the energy measuring unit 28 to the local power supply network M via the supply line 11 must be carried out by an electrician or a specialist who has the appropriate expertise and knows or complies with the relevant safety regulations.
[0054] The charging connection device 1, or energy measuring unit 28, further comprises an energy output interface 12 arranged in the housing 3 for the controlled delivery of electrical energy to an electric vehicle V connected thereto. This energy output interface 12 can be configured as a clamp or solder interface 13 for a charging cable C permanently connected to the charging connection device 1. In particular, a charging cable C with a length of at least one meter is permanently, i.e., non-removable, electrically connected at its first end to the energy output interface 12 of the energy measuring unit 28 of the charging connection device 1. The charging cable C is thus permanently attached to the housing 3 of the charging connection device 1. The charging cable C has a charging plug P2 at its second end only, for electrical and mechanical connection to an electric vehicle V.
[0055] The charging cable C and the connected charging plug P2 allow the electrical energy supplied or available by the charging connection device 1 to be transferred to a connected electric vehicle V. The charging plug P2 is located at the other end of the charging cable C and can be connected to a corresponding socket on the electric vehicle V as needed to establish an electrical connection between the charging connection device 1 and the charging electronics E or the energy storage device A in the electric vehicle V.
[0056] In the illustrated embodiment, a cable outlet 14 of the charging connection device 1 is equipped with an optionally designed cable holder 15 - Fig. 1 - combined to enable orderly holding of remaining lengths or the total length of the connection or charging cable C to an electric vehicle V.
[0057] To enable the electrotechnical components 2 to be housed or installed in the enclosure 3 as quickly and easily as possible, it can be advantageous for the enclosure 3 to be formed from at least one first enclosure part 16 and at least one further enclosure part 17. According to the illustrated, advantageous embodiment, the enclosure 3 is designed as a wall-mounted enclosure, wherein the first enclosure part 16 forms at least a section of the front of the enclosure and the further enclosure part defines at least a section of the rear of the enclosure. The enclosure 3, composed of at least one first enclosure part 16 (e.g., front-facing) and at least one further enclosure part 17 (e.g., rear-facing), ensures, in conjunction with at least one sealing element, that the electrotechnical components 2 installed therein are protected from contact by persons, as well as from moisture and dirt.If necessary, it may be provided that after removal of the first or front housing part 16, partial access or partial inspection into the interior of the housing is possible, for example to a residual current device (RCD) monitoring device 5 or a circuit breaker or to the energy input interface 10.
[0058] The charging connection device 1 can further comprise at least one control-related output element 18 for signaling operating states of the charging connection device 1, for displaying the charge states of the energy storage device A in the electric vehicle V, or for visualizing operationally relevant data of the charging connection device 1 to a user, in particular to a maintenance or operating person. This at least one output element 18 includes at least one visually perceptible optical display 19, with which a person can be informed of various operating states, such as charge states, charging times, charging progress, fault states, selection options, acknowledgment requests, energy consumption quantities, or the like.
[0059] In addition to providing at least one optical or visually perceptible output element 18, it is of course also possible to provide at least one acoustically perceptible output element, for example a buzzer, loudspeaker or the like, in order to expand the interaction or the overall possible transmission of information to an operator or other person. Instead of or in addition to a display device 19 with a plurality of light-emitting diodes, it is of course also possible to provide sufficiently bright 7-segment displays or other displays, in particular graphics-capable displays.
[0060] How best to Fig. As can be seen in Figure 2, the charging connection device 1 comprises a preferably purely electronically implemented energy measuring device 20 for measuring the electrical energy supplied to an electric vehicle V via the charging connection device 1, which energy measuring device 20 is part of the aforementioned energy measuring unit 28. Such a purely electronic energy measuring device 20 is, in contrast to an electromechanical energy meter (so-called Ferraris meter), compact and lightweight.
[0061] The energy measuring device 20 can comprise at least one voltage sensor 21 per electrical phase or per electrical path to the power switching element 4 and at least one current transformer 22 per electrical phase or per electrical path to the power switching element 4. The at least one voltage sensor 21 and the at least one current transformer 22 are connected to a measuring controller 23 and thus transmit the corresponding signals or the respective voltage or current values to the measuring controller 23. The measuring controller 23 calculates the amount of electrical energy transmitted or drawn from the power supply network M from the transmitted signals or values.
[0062] The energy measuring unit 28 or the energy measuring device 20, in particular the measuring controller 23, can comprise a non-volatile calibration data storage device 24, in particular an EEPROM memory. The calibration data required for accurate measurement by the energy measuring device 20 is stored in the calibration data storage device 24. This calibration data is device-dependent. It can differ, among other things, depending on the electrical properties of the voltage transmitters 21 and the current transformers 22, or depending on the ohmic resistances of the conductor connections.
[0063] The energy measuring device 20 further comprises a non-volatile energy data storage device 25. This energy data storage device 25 can store at least the continuously increasing values of the total energy consumption at the charging connection device 1 from one charging session to the next. A charging session can also be referred to as a charging process.
[0064] At least some data records from the energy data storage device 25 can be visualized on the display 19 at the charging connection device 1. Specifically, this display 19 is located directly on the housing 3 and can be read by a user of the charging connection device 1. This display 19 is designed to display legally relevant data in plain text. In particular, the total energy consumption since the initial commissioning of the energy measuring device 20 can be read on it, and, if applicable, the amount of energy consumed during a charging process can also be read. Alternatively, or in combination with this, the respective amount of electrical energy consumed per charging process can be visualized on the display 19 and read by a user.
[0065] The internal processes and operation of the charging connection device 1 are primarily determined or co-determined by the integrated operating control device 8. Among other things, it is provided that the charging connection device 1 provides electrical energy at the energy output interface 12 when it enters an active charging mode. In particular, electrical energy is activated at the energy output interface 12, and thus also at the charging plug P2, when the operating control device 8 detects the connection of an electric vehicle V ready for charging. This verification of the actual connection of an electric vehicle V ready for charging is carried out, among other things, by the operating control device 8, which preferably also communicates with the charging electronics E of a connected electric vehicle V or automatically checks whether an appropriate charging cable C is connected. For this purpose, for example, the following are used: Fig. The 2 illustrated lines PP and CP were used.
[0066] In cases or at times when no electric vehicle V is connected, the energy output interface 12 and thus also the charging plug P2 are de-energized. This is achieved by the operating control 8 and the at least one power switching element 4, in particular by an open contactor or a blocked semiconductor switching module. This state of the charging connection device 1 represents a charging standby mode. This measure increases the personal safety of the charging system or the charging connection device 1.
[0067] In charging standby mode, a vehicle communication device 26 is located in the charging connection device 1 and is also in a standby state. This vehicle communication device 26 is designed for signal communication with the charging electronics E of an electric vehicle V. The vehicle communication device 26 in the charging connection device 1 can be connected to the charging electronics E of an electric vehicle V via a preferably wired communication interface 27. Preferably, the necessary signal communication lines PP and CP are included in the connection-compatible charging cable C to the electric vehicle V.
[0068] It is essential that the charging connection device 1 includes a structurally separate energy measuring unit 28 inside the housing; that is, an energy measuring unit 28 that can be removed or replaced as needed from the other electrical components 2 of the charging connection device 1. Accordingly, the energy measuring unit 28 of the charging connection device can also be referred to as a replacement module or replacement component 34 of the charging connection device 1. This energy measuring unit 28 is designed to measure the amounts of electrical energy transferred from and / or received by the charging connection device 1 to connected electric vehicles V. Replacing the energy measuring unit 28 within the housing 3 of the charging connection device 1 can be done without breaking a seal, such as a tamper-evident seal. The outer housing 3 of the charging connection device 1 does not need to be sealed.
[0069] In particular, it may be advantageous if the outer housing 3 of the charging connection device 1 is not assigned any sealing measures relating to legal requirements for calibration and / or the measurement accuracy of the charging connection device 1, while the energy measuring unit 28 is assigned at least one sealing measure 39, for example, at least one seal on the energy measuring unit, by means of which it is readily apparent or verifiable whether the energy measuring unit 28 complies with metrological and calibration law. Furthermore, the outer housing 3 of the charging connection device 1 and the energy measuring unit 28 are designed such that the energy measuring unit 28, intended for installation in the charging connection device 1, can be installed in the outer housing 3 of the charging connection device 1 while maintaining the integrity of its at least one sealing measure 39.
[0070] In particular, the energy measuring unit 28 with the permanently attached charging cable C can be designed as a sealed measuring capsule. For this purpose, the metrologically relevant components of the energy measuring unit 28 can be at least partially enclosed by a sealed protective housing 40 or one provided with another sealing measure 39, as shown in Fig. Figure 1 is schematically indicated by dashed lines. The energy input interface 10 and / or a control or data interface 29 of the energy measuring unit 28 are preferably positioned outside the sealed protective housing 40, so that a qualified electrician can establish the corresponding electrical connections without breaking the seal. The energy output interface 12 or the electrical connection interface with the charging cable C is preferably located inside the protective housing 40 and is thus insulated from direct access. Due to the measures described above, no seal breaking is necessary if the energy measuring unit 28 needs to be replaced in the event of a fault or defect, particularly due to a damaged charging cable C. Advantageously, this eliminates the need for calibration or recalibration of the charging connection device 1 directly at its installation site.
[0071] The energy measuring unit 28, designed as a module, comprises at least the energy measuring device 20 for measuring or recording the amounts of energy supplied to electric vehicles V. Preferably, the energy input interface 10 and the energy output interface 12 of the charging connection device 1 are also provided on the structurally independent energy measuring unit 28. These are preferably defined by terminal blocks and / or by defined solder pads on the circuit board 7' of the energy measuring unit 28. As previously described, the energy input interface 10 of the energy measuring unit 28 or the energy measuring device 20 can be connected to an electrical energy or power supply network M. The amount of energy for electric vehicles V that can be recorded by the energy measuring device 20 can be accessed at the energy output interface 12.
[0072] A data interface 29 of the energy metering unit 28 is configured to transmit measurement data acquired by the energy metering device 20 to connectable electronic processing devices. A connectable electronic processing device includes, for example, the functional operating control 8 of the charging connection device 1, in particular its application board, and / or an operator's smartphone, and / or an external, central management system, such as a clearing system. The data interface 29 of the energy metering unit 28 can be implemented according to a standardized wired and / or wireless data communication system. The data communication interface 29 of the energy metering unit 28, or...The energy measuring device 20 can be implemented as a short-range and / or long-range communication interface, in particular as a LAN interface, WLAN interface and / or as a mobile communication interface.
[0073] In the charging connection device 1 according to the invention, the charging cable C, with a length of at least one meter, is permanently connected at its first end 30 to the energy output interface 12 of the energy measuring device 20 or to the energy output interface 12 of the power current path within the charging connection device 1. At its second end 31, the charging cable C has the charging plug P2 for electrical connection to an electric vehicle V. The energy measuring device 20 can be configured to take into account or determine, in particular, the energy loss caused by the ohmic resistance of the charging cable C, and especially at least the power loss caused by the charging cable C, when charging an electric vehicle V, and ultimately to determine the amount of energy effectively made available at the charging plug P2.
[0074] The ohmic resistance, and thus the power loss, of the charging cable C, including the charging plug P2, is primarily influenced by the cable length, its cross-sectional area, the conductor material, and contact resistances. The charging current transmitted by the charging cable C also affects the final transmission losses between the charging connection device 1 and a connected electric vehicle V. Depending on its length, the charging cable C can be a crucial factor influencing transmission losses and therefore also a significant factor influencing the amount of energy actually supplied to and ultimately billed to the electric vehicle V. Of course, other electrical consumers may also be present. This includes, for example, [examples of other electrical consumers].Any other electrical components downstream of the energy meter, wires on circuit boards, contact resistances at contact points, and the like.
[0075] These line-dependent energy losses or ohmic influences can be taken into account, for example, by means of an offset or compensation value, in particular by calibrating the energy measuring device 20, for example, taking into account the charging cable C permanently connected to it. For this purpose, the aforementioned calibration data storage device 24 of the energy measuring device 20, which can be implemented using software and / or hardware, can be provided.
[0076] As an alternative to a metrological acquisition of device-specific calibration data, calibration can be carried out in the form of test measurements on or with the energy measuring device 20 and the connected charging cable C.
[0077] In particular, a purely metrological classification of the energy measuring device 20 or the entire energy measuring unit 28 can be carried out.
[0078] Alternatively, such testing and calibration procedures can be used to verify whether the energy measuring unit 28 being tested has a measurement accuracy within a predetermined tolerance or value range. If the test result is positive, the modular assembly consisting of the energy measuring device 20 and the permanently connected charging cable C, i.e., the modular energy measuring unit 28, is considered calibrated and verified to determine the amount of energy effectively supplied at the charging plug P2 or effectively drawn from the electric vehicle.
[0079] The length of the charging cable C can range from 1 to 25 meters, particularly from 2 to 5 meters. Especially with relatively long charging cables C, significant power or energy losses can occur at charging currents close to their maximum current carrying capacity. The specified energy measurement unit 28 takes these power-related or ohmic energy losses into account, at least partially and with legal metrology precision, so that the actual energy consumption and the resulting billing can be processed as accurately and in compliance with legal metrology regulations as possible.
[0080] It is advantageous if the unit consisting of the energy measuring device 20 and the connected charging cable C is certified in accordance with the applicable national or regional measurement and calibration law, for example in accordance with the so-called “MessEG” applicable in Germany, and / or if the energy measuring device 20 or the entire energy measuring unit 28 complies with the “Measuring Instruments Directive” (MID 2014 / 32 / EU).
[0081] Alternatively or in combination with the aforementioned calibration data storage device 24, the energy measuring device 20 or the energy measuring unit 28 can comprise a calibration means 32 implemented in software and / or hardware, which calibration means 32 is configured to include the ohmic resistance or resistances of at least the multi-core charging cable C in the preferably computational determination of the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug P2. The amount of energy effectively delivered or provided can thus be determined relatively accurately and with minimal implementation effort.
[0082] The calibration means 32 of the energy measuring device 20 or the energy measuring unit 28 can further be configured to also include the ohmic resistances of the power switching element 4, which is arranged in the current flow direction between the energy input interface 10 and the energy output interface 12 of the energy measuring unit 28, and / or the ohmic resistances of intermediate electrical conductors, for example the conductor tracks for the power current path(s) on the printed circuit board 7' and / or the ohmic resistances of discrete conductors, in the determination of the amount of energy effectively available at the charging plug P2.
[0083] The energy metering unit 28 module of the charging connection device 1 can include a unique data identifier 33, in particular a so-called ID, which can be detected and verified for validity by data-linkable electronic processing devices, especially by the stationary electronic operating control 8 or by a mobile control unit, for example, a smartphone. If an invalid identifier 33 is detected, the charging connection device 1 may be prevented from drawing electrical energy. In particular, if the identifier 33 of the energy metering unit 28 is detected as invalid, the closing of the power switching element 4 may be prevented or blocked by the control system.
[0084] As explained above, the energy measuring unit 28, with its energy measuring device 20 and the charging cable C, is designed as a structurally integrated replacement component 34 of the charging connection device 1. If the charging cable C or the charging plug P2 is defective, the entire energy measuring unit 28 must be replaced. This ensures the accuracy of the energy measurement and the calibration compliance of the charging connection device 1 at all times. It is advantageous if this replacement component 34 also includes at least the power switching element 4 for the control-related interruption and switching of the power current path, but not the electronic operating control 8. This provides a beneficial separation of measurement- or energy-related components and functional components with individual settings or parameterizations.
[0085] As already explained above, the aforementioned exchange component 34 can include a unique, data-related identifier 33, in particular an ID, which can be detected and verified by the operating control unit 8. The operating control unit 8 is configured to only activate the power switching element 4, in particular the on-state, if and only if a positive verification result for the data-related identifier 33 has been obtained. This ensures that only authorized, in particular only calibrated, energy measuring units 28 can be used in the charging connection device 1.
[0086] In particular, it may be advantageous if the energy measuring unit 28, designed as replacement component 34, is certified or certifiable under metrology and calibration law, and if such certification or certificate is also represented or indicated by the unique data identifier 33.
[0087] As from Fig. 2. A safety controller 35 can be integrated into the charging connection device 1, which is configured for data-related interaction with the electronic operating control 8. This safety controller 35, which is separately designed for the operating control 8, is intended to increase the functional safety, in particular the personal safety of the charging connection device 1, and can be implemented as a component of the replacement component 34.
[0088] The electronic operating control 8 includes an electronic memory 36, which is configured for the non-volatile storage of individual settings or parameters of the charging connection device 1. These individual settings or parameters can be defined, for example, by the maximum available charging current, a charging station ID, data communication settings of the charging connection device 1, or by combinations thereof.
[0089] How best to Fig. If the energy measuring device 20 and at least the power switching element 4 are removable, it can further be provided that the energy measuring device 20 and at least the power switching element 4 are separated from the electrical components of the operating control 8 by means of an additional housing within the outer housing 3 or by means of at least one partition 37 in the outer housing 3. This offers advantages with regard to electrical safety and ease of assembly and maintenance of the charging connection device 1.
[0090] What next? Fig. 1 is removable, the charging connection device 1 can be designed such that the energy measuring device 20 and at least the power switching element 4 are formed on the common circuit board 7' and this circuit board 7' is separated from the electrical components of the operating control by means of an additional housing or by means of at least one partition 37 or is spatially at least partially enclosed.
[0091] Again Fig.As can be seen by way of example in Figure 2, it may be advantageous if the fixed connection of the charging cable C to the energy output interface 12 of the energy measuring device 20 is protected by a tamper detection device 38. This tamper detection device 38 can, in particular, be formed by a seal and / or a tamper-evident seal and / or by a mechanical locking mechanism, for example for a cover element, that can only be released by destruction or alteration at the connection interface of the charging cable C. Any manipulative or unauthorized disconnection or replacement of the charging cable C, which is permanently connected to the energy measuring unit 28 and is included in the energy measurement by the energy measuring device 20, is thus readily apparent.
[0092] The exemplary embodiment shows possible embodiment variants, whereby it should be noted at this point that the invention is not limited to the specifically illustrated embodiment variants thereof, but rather various combinations and selections of the individual embodiment variants are also possible and this possibility of variation lies within the skill of the person skilled in this technical field due to the teaching on technical action by the present invention.
