Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a load balancing device. The load balancing device comprises a pivoting lever pivotable about a pivot axis between a first maximum deflection position and a second maximum deflection position. Furthermore, the load balancing device comprises at least one first tension element arranged on the pivoting lever at a distance from the pivot axis. The first tension element can be arranged directly on the pivoting lever or indirectly connected to it via one or more other elements of the load balancing device. The load balancing device further comprises a deflection device arranged stationary relative to the pivot axis and guiding the first tension element, as well as a spring element and a tensioning element connecting the spring element and the pivoting lever.A cam disc is arranged on the pivot lever, which has a guide contour extending at least partially around the pivot axis and designed to guide the clamping element. The clamping element is guided by the guide contour.

[0002] Furthermore, the invention is directed to a piece of furniture provided with such a load balancing device.

[0003] Such a load balancing device and a piece of furniture equipped with such a load balancing device are known from DE 10 2017 007 719 A1. There, the load balancing device serves to compensate for the weight of a lower front panel of a wall cabinet with a multi-part, movable front panel, allowing it to be easily relocated. The load balancing device is located inside the wall cabinet.

[0004] The wall cabinet shown in DE 25 24 962 A1 features a load-balancing device. Its purpose is to keep the force required to move a drawer located in the wall cabinet low and nearly constant over at least a large portion of the lifting movement.

[0005] DE 39 34 269 A1 discloses a locking device for pivoting parts with a load balancing device formed by a spring and cable and referred to as a pivot drive.

[0006] DE 10 2007 026 876 A1 discloses various embodiments of load balancing devices for use in furniture. The embodiments differ in the solutions for adjusting the load balancing devices to achieve different torques during the movement of a part of the furniture.

[0007] The object of the present invention is to further develop such a load balancing device so that it can be easily adapted to balance different loads.

[0008] According to the invention, this is achieved in that the cam disc is pivotable about the pivot axis relative to the pivot lever and the clamping element. By pivoting the cam disc about the pivot axis relative to the pivot lever and the clamping element, the clamping element is in contact with different parts of the guide contour of the cam disc after pivoting the cam disc than before pivoting the cam disc when the load balancing device is actuated. By appropriately selecting the guide contour of the cam disc, the lever arm with which the clamping element applies a force to the cam disc and thereby to the pivot lever connected to the cam disc can be changed.

[0009] In particular, such a load balancing device can be used in furniture with multi-part, movable furniture fronts. Typically, such furniture can be manufactured with furniture fronts made of different materials upon customer request. The furniture fronts can have different masses depending on the material selected. These different furniture fronts represent different loads to be balanced. By using load balancing devices designed according to the invention, which can be adjusted to the respective weight of the front panel by simply twisting, the same load balancing device can always be used in the production of such furniture, regardless of the choice of furniture front, and can be easily adjusted to the respective load. Such a load balancing device is simpler and more flexible to use.

[0010] Preferably, the cam disc can be fixed in a selected pivot position relative to the pivot lever. This is particularly preferably achieved by an adjustment device designed to fix the cam disc in various positions relative to the pivot lever. In particular, the adjustment device is arranged on the pivot lever and, when the load balancing device is actuated, is pivoted along with the pivot lever around the pivot axis. Such a load balancing device is particularly easy to manufacture and operate.

[0011] Particularly preferably, the adjusting device is pivotably mounted at one end on the pivot lever and pivotably mounted at the other end on the cam disc.

[0012] With a suitable design of the cam's guide contour, the load to be balanced by the load balancing device can be adjusted using a single adjustment wheel. Separate adjustment, particularly of the force applied by the spring element, can be eliminated.

[0013] Preferably, the guide contour of the cam disc is longer than a maximum wrap length of the tensioning element around the cam disc. This ensures that the tensioning element is guided along the guide contour of the cam disc during pivoting of the pivot lever between the first maximum deflection position and the second maximum deflection position, even if the cam disc is rotated relative to the tensioning element. This enables a uniform introduction of the force applied by the spring element via the tensioning element to the pivot lever and thus a uniform movement of the load balancing element or of the load connected to the load balancing element at least via the first tension element when pivoting the pivot lever.

[0014] Preferably, in the second maximum deflection position, the pivot lever is pivoted about the pivot axis by a maximum of 90° relative to the first maximum deflection position. This enables a simple design of the guide contour of the cam disc. In particular, a guide contour is enabled that ensures uniform load balancing of the load balancing device during the pivoting of the pivot lever between the first and second maximum deflection positions, even if the cam disc is rotated relative to the pivot lever.

[0015] More preferably, the spring element is designed as a tension spring, preferably with a linear spring characteristic. With such a tension spring, the force is proportional to the deflection, at least for those deflections reached within the load balancing device. The spring follows Hooke's law. The use of such a spring element enables a guide contour that ensures uniform load balancing of the load balancing device during the pivoting of the pivot lever between the first and second maximum deflection positions, even if the cam disc is rotated relative to the pivot lever.

[0016] Preferably, at least one pivot lever deflection device is arranged on the pivot lever, around which the at least first tension element is guided. By using one or more such pivot lever deflection devices for the at least first tension element, a pulley block is realized. This makes it possible to realize a larger adjustment range for the load to be balanced with the same pivoting of the pivot lever. The load balancing device can thus be used or adapted for large adjustment ranges of the load to be balanced. The load balancing device can therefore be designed to be comparatively compact. By using such a pulley block, the forces and torques acting on the pivot lever increase compared to a load balancing device without a pivot lever deflection device.

[0017] The load balancing device preferably has at least one further deflection device arranged stationary relative to the pivot axis, over which the tension element is guided. When viewed along the tension element, an adjustment carriage is also arranged between the deflection device and the further deflection device. The adjustment carriage comprises an adjustment deflection device over which the tension element is guided. The tension element can be deflected in the area between the first deflection device and the further deflection device via the adjustment carriage and the adjustment deflection device arranged thereon. In particular, the displaceably arranged adjustment carriage can be fixed in various positions, in particular continuously. This allows the effective length of the tension element to be easily adjusted.Particularly if the tension element becomes elongated over time during use of such a load balancing device, the correct alignment of the object whose load is to be balanced by the load balancing device can be easily restored using such an adjustment slide. To do this, the effective length of the tension element is shortened by moving the adjustment slide.

[0018] In a preferred embodiment, the load balancing device comprises a second tension element which is arranged on the pivoting lever. In particular, the second tension element is guided to a different location than the first tension element via the first deflection device and / or another deflection device. A load can be connected to the load balancing arrangement at two different locations via the first and second tension elements. In particular, a lower front cover can be connected to one of the two tension elements on each of the outer sides. This enables even distribution of the load. This is particularly advantageous when the load is guided in a guide. If the load is connected to the load balancing device via two tension elements at different locations, the risk of the load becoming jammed in the guide can be reduced.

[0019] This is particularly advantageous in a load balancing device that also has an adjustment slide with an adjustment deflection device for at least one of the two tension elements, preferably for both tension elements. This not only allows the length of one tension element to be compensated for any elongation, but such an adjustment slide can also be used to adjust the length of the two tension elements relative to one another so that a load connected to the load balancing device at two points via a tension element each can be easily aligned correctly. In particular, this makes it easy to ensure that a load arranged within a guide does not tilt.

[0020] Preferably, the guide contour of the cam disc is designed such that when the pivoting lever is pivoted about the pivot axis, in any position between the two maximum deflection positions, the torque applied to the pivoting lever via the tension element(s) is always just as large as the oppositely directed torque applied to the pivoting lever by the spring element. This means that the pivoting lever of the load balancing device can be stopped in any intermediate position between the two maximum deflection positions. The load balancing device is designed such that a balance of forces always prevails. A load connected to the load balancing device can then be stopped in any intermediate position between the two maximum deflection positions. The load remains in such an intermediate position in particular due to (static) friction.Such a load balancing device is also known as a multi-position stop (MPS). It is particularly convenient to operate.

[0021] The force applied by the mass via the tension element(s) to the pivoting lever is usually constant, since the load to be balanced by the load balancing element typically remains constant. However, when the pivoting lever is pivoted, the effective lever with which the force applied by the tension element acts on the pivoting lever can change. The torque applied to the pivoting lever via the tension element(s) can therefore vary. The force applied by the spring element to the tensioning element is typically dependent on the deflection of the spring element. The deflection of the spring element depends on the position of the pivoting lever between the first and second maximum deflection positions. In particular, the force increases linearly with the deflection when a spring element with a linear spring characteristic curve is used.By appropriately selecting the guide contour of the guide disc, it is possible to ensure that the torque applied by the spring element to the pivot lever, consisting of the spring force and the effective lever, the distance between the pivot axis and the point on the guide contour where the tensioning element rests, is always equal to the torque applied by the load via the tension element. In this way, such a load balancing device can be easily implemented using MPS.

[0022] Preferably, the minimum distance between the resultant of the force or forces applied to the pivot lever by the tension element(s) and the pivot axis is maximum in the first maximum deflection position and minimum in the second maximum deflection position. In such a case, the guide contour can be determined and manufactured particularly easily.

[0023] Particularly preferably, the distance between the guide contour of the guide disk, designed to guide the clamping element, and the pivot axis in a contact area for contacting the clamping element continuously increases or decreases from a first end to a second end of the guide contour. A cam disk with such a guide contour can be determined and manufactured in a particularly simple manner. Furthermore, adjusting the load balancing device to different weights is particularly easy by pivoting the cam disk relative to the pivot lever.

[0024] The load balancing arrangement preferably comprises a housing, wherein the housing and the pivot lever form a first stop preventing movement of the pivot lever beyond the first maximum deflection position, and a second stop preventing movement of the pivot lever beyond the second maximum deflection position. This reliably prevents the pivot lever of the load balancing device from being inadvertently moved beyond the respective maximum deflection positions. Such a load balancing device is particularly reliable.

[0025] The invention is further directed to a piece of furniture comprising a furniture body and an element that is at least partially displaceable relative to the furniture body in the direction of gravity, in particular a split front cover with an upper front cover segment and a lower front cover segment that is displaceable relative to the upper front cover segment. The piece of furniture comprises a load balancing device according to the invention, which is connected to the displaceable element by its at least one tension element. The displaceable element represents the load to be balanced by the load balancing device.

[0026] A particular advantage is that, unlike a gravity-operated load balancing device, which, for example, has a counterweight, such a load balancing device can be positioned within the furniture regardless of the direction of gravity. In particular, the load balancing device can be arranged with the pivot axis in a vertical orientation below or on an upper shelf of the furniture. This allows for a high degree of design freedom when designing a corresponding piece of furniture.

[0027] Further advantages and details of the invention can be found in the following description of the figures with exemplary embodiments of the invention. [0028] Parts with the same or similar functions are provided with identical reference numerals where appropriate. Individual technical features of the exemplary embodiments described below can be combined with the features of claim 1 as well as with the features of individual previously described exemplary embodiments to form inventive objects.

[0029] Fig. 1 shows a load balancing device 2. It comprises a housing 12 and a pivot lever 4 arranged on the housing so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis S. A pivot deflection device 6 is arranged at an outer end of the pivot lever 4 spaced from the pivot axis S.

[0030] The load balancing device 2 has a first deflection device 8. This is arranged on the housing 12 in a fixed position relative to the pivot axis S. In the embodiment of the Fig. 1, the deflection device 8 is formed by a deflection pulley whose rotational axis is arranged on the housing 12 in a fixed position relative to the pivot axis S. The rotational axis and pivot axis S are aligned parallel to each other.

[0031] The load balancing device 2 has a first tension element 10. This is arranged adjacent to the first deflection device 8 and fixedly mounted on the housing 12 of the load balancing device 2. The first tension element 10 is guided via the pivoting lever deflection device 6 and the first deflection device 8. The first tension element 10 can be formed by a rope, a belt, a chain, or another element that can be deflected via the deflection device 8.

[0032] The load balancing device 2 further comprises a cam disc 14. This is pivotally mounted about the pivot axis S and can be pivoted relative to the pivot lever 4. For this purpose, an adjustment device 16 is provided, which connects the pivot lever 4 and the cam disc 14 to one another. The adjustment device 16 is pivotally mounted on the pivot lever 4 at one end. The other end is pivotally mounted on the cam disc 14. The adjustment device 16 makes it possible to easily adjust the cam disc 14 relative to the pivot lever 4 and to fix it in the respective adjustment position. For this purpose, the adjustment device 16 has an adjustment wheel.

[0033] The load balancing device 2 is preferably designed so that the adjusting wheel of the adjusting device 16 is easily accessible when the pivot lever 4 is in the second maximum deflection position. Fig. 2 and Fig. 4. In these figures, it can be seen that the adjustment wheel of the adjustment device 16 is arranged for easy access. In the second maximum deflection position, a load is raised to its maximum. This arrangement is particularly advantageous when the load balancing device 2 is used in a piece of furniture and the load is formed by a front flap closing an opening in the furniture. With such a configuration of the load balancing device 2, the adjustment wheel of the adjustment device 16 is accessible when the front flap is open, so that the load to be balanced can be adjusted using the adjustment wheel of the adjustment device 16 when the front flap is open.

[0034] The cam disc 14 forms a guide contour 18 on its outer side for a tensioning element 20. The tensioning element 20 is arranged at one end on the pivot lever 4. It is guided via the guide contour 18 of the cam disc 14 and is connected at the other end to a spring element 22 of the load balancing device 2. The spring element 22 applies a force via the tensioning element 20, which acts on the pivot lever 4 via the cam disc 14. The torque resulting from this force depends on the distance of the resultant of the force applied by the spring element 22 from the pivot axis S. This distance can be adjusted by rotating the cam disc 14 with the guide contour 18.

[0035] In the illustrated embodiment with the pivot lever 4 in the first maximum deflection position, the pivot lever 4 is in contact with the housing 12 via a first stop 24. This reliably prevents further movement of the pivot lever 4 beyond the first maximum deflection position. In the first maximum deflection position, a load connected to the load balancing device 2 via the tension element 10 is lowered to its maximum extent.

[0036] In Fig. 2 is the Fig. 1 shown load balancing device 2 is shown again. In the illustration according to Fig. 2, the pivot lever 4 is shown in the second maximum deflection position. The pivot lever 4 is in contact with the housing 12 at the second stop 26. In the second maximum deflection position, a load connected to the load balancing device 2 via the tension element 10 is raised to its maximum.

[0037] Between the first maximum deflection position and the second maximum deflection position, the pivot lever 4 of the illustrated load balancing device 2 is deflected by 90°. This enables a particularly simple design of the cam disc 14 with the guide contour 18. The distances of the individual points of the guide contour 18 of the cam disc 14 from the pivot axis S are continuously increasing or continuously decreasing, as viewed along the clamping element 20. This also makes it easy to create a load balancing device 2 designed as a multi-position stop (MPS).

[0038] The cam disc 14 is shown in the illustrations according to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 is shown in a first maximum pivoting position, in which the torque applied to the pivoting lever 4 by the spring element 22 via the tensioning element 20 and the cam disc 14 is minimal. From this first maximum pivoting position, the cam disc 14 can only be pivoted toward a second maximum pivoting position.

[0039] Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show the load balancing device 2 with the pivot lever 4 in the first maximum deflection position ( Fig. 3) and in the second maximum deflection position ( Fig. 4). In the first maximum deflection position, the pivot lever 4 is in contact with the housing 12 via the first stop 24. In the second maximum deflection position, the pivot lever 4 contacts the housing 12 with the second stop 26. The cam disc 14 is shown in the illustrations of the Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 in a second maximum pivoting position in which the torque applied to the pivoting lever 4 via the spring element 22 and the tensioning element 10 via the cam disc 14 is maximum.

[0040] In direct comparison of the Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 or 2 and Fig. 4 shows that rotating the cam disc 14 from the first maximum pivot position to the second maximum pivot position not only increases the distance of the clamping element 20 from the pivot axis S and thus the effective lever arm. At the same time, the spring element 22 is also deflected more strongly, thereby increasing the force applied by the spring element 22 to the clamping element 20 and, via this, to the lever arm 4. These changes interact to increase the torque applied by the load balancing device 2 to the pivot lever 4.

[0041] The load balancing device 2 of the Fig. 1 to Fig. 4 each has a first tension element 10, which is guided over the first deflection device 8. Furthermore, the load balancing device comprises a further deflection device 28 and an adjustment deflection device 30, which is arranged on an adjustment slide 32.

[0042] The first tension element 10 can also be guided via the further deflection device 28 and the adjustment deflection device 30, as for example in Fig. 6. The adjustable deflection device 30 is arranged on an adjustment slide 32, which is movable relative to the housing 12 or relative to the first deflection device 8 and the second deflection device 28. This allows the effective length of the first tension element 10 to be easily changed. This can be used to easily adjust the position of a load or to compensate for an elongation of the tension element 10.

[0043] Fig. Figure 5 shows the load balancing device 2 with the pivot lever 4 in a position between the first maximum deflection position and the second maximum deflection position. The cam disc 14 is also located between the first and second pivot positions. The first tension element 10 is guided via the first deflection device 8 to a load that is to be balanced by the load balancing device 2.

[0044] In the representation according to Fig. 7, the load balancing device 2 has a second tension element 34 in addition to the first tension element 10. The first tension element 10 is guided only around the first deflection device 8. The second tension element 34 is also guided over the further deflection device 30 and the adjustment deflection device 30 arranged on the adjustment slide 32. The effective length of the second tension element 34 and thus the ratio of the lengths of the first tension element 10 and the second tension element 34 to one another can be adjusted via the adjustment slide 32.

[0045] The Fig. 8 to Fig. 11 shows the possibilities for positioning the adjustment slide 32.

[0046] In Fig. Figure 8 shows the adjustment slide in its maximum adjustment position. In the maximum adjustment position of the adjustment slide 32, the effective length of the first tension element 10 is at its maximum.

[0047] Fig. Figure 9 shows the load balancing device 2 with the adjustment slide 32 in a minimum adjustment position. The effective length of the first tension element 10 is minimal.

[0048] Fig. 10 and Fig. 11 show load balancing devices with the adjustment slide 32 in the maximum adjustment position ( Fig. 10) or the minimum adjustment position ( Fig. 11). In the illustrated embodiments, the load balancing device 2 has a first tension element 10 and a further tension element 34, wherein one of the two tension elements 10 is guided only via the first deflection device 8 and the other tension element 34 is also guided via the further deflection device 28 and the adjustment deflection device 30 arranged on the adjustment slide 32. The ratio of the effective lengths of the first tension element 10 and the second tension element 34 can be easily adjusted relative to one another via the adjustment slide 32. In particular, this can easily ensure that a load arranged on the load balancing device 2 via the tension elements 10, 32 is correctly aligned.

[0049] Fig. 12 shows a pivot lever 4 with the cam disc 14 and the adjustment device 16 arranged thereon. The cam disc 14 is rotated into a first maximum pivot position via the adjustment device 16. With the cam disc 14 in the illustrated first maximum pivot position, the load to be compensated by a load balancing device 2 provided with the pivot lever 14 is minimal. Lower loads cannot be precisely compensated by the load balancing device 2. At lower loads, the pivot lever 4 of the load balancing device 2 would always tend toward the second maximum deflection position unless prevented from doing so by static friction forces.

[0050] Fig. Figure 13 shows the pivot lever 4 with the cam disc 14, which is rotated into the second maximum pivot position via the adjustment device 16. With the cam disc 14 in the illustrated second maximum pivot position, the load to be compensated by a load balancing device 2 equipped with the pivot lever 14 is at its maximum. Larger loads cannot be precisely compensated by the load balancing device 2. With larger loads, the pivot lever 4 of the load balancing device 2 would always tend toward the first maximum deflection position unless prevented from doing so by static friction forces.

[0051] Fig.Figure 14 shows the pivot lever 4 with the cam disc 4 in an intermediate position between the first and second maximum pivot positions. Using these intermediate positions, a load balancing device 2 can be easily and continuously adjusted to the load to be balanced within the stated limits. Such a load balancing device 2 is particularly easy to adjust and thus both user-friendly and flexible in use.
