Description

AREA OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of automotive glass technology and in particular to a window frame arrangement for automotive glass. STATE OF THE ART

[0002] The rear corner window is a common component of modern cars and serves three main functions: (1) to increase the amount of light entering the car, which also improves the passengers' field of vision; (2) to combine the rear corner window with other interior and exterior trim elements to decorate the entire car and enhance its appearance; (3) a large area at the rear of the car can make it difficult to raise the rear window glass. Working in conjunction with the triangular shape of the rear window, this allows for smoother raising and lowering with the power windows.

[0003] Currently, there are two main types of triangular rear windows: standalone type and integrated type.

[0004] The design of the triangular rear window, conceived as a standalone type, is flexible, easy to install, and cost-effective. A rear window of this type can be mounted to either the rear door or the vehicle body. However, when fitted to the rear door or the body, inaccuracies in fastening and positioning can easily lead to fit discrepancies, large gaps, or interference between peripheral components. In contrast, the integrated rear corner window involves assembling the corner glass and guide rail using sealing material.Although this design effectively reduces the number of parts, the assembly and positioning of the existing integrated rear corner window are still very complicated, which is not conducive to assembly and maintenance, nor to improving production efficiency.

[0005] From JP 2001-71752A a disc edging arrangement with a cover layer made of ionomer is known.

[0006] Further state of the art can be found in DE 10 2007 015 466 A1, DE 20 2010 013 082 U1, FR 2 858 950 A1, DE 601 11 839 T2, DE 691 21 224 T2 and DE 20 2016 008 503 U1. TASK OF INVENTION

[0007] A window frame assembly for automotive glass is provided, comprising a first glass, a window frame, a plastic rail, a sealing profile, and a decorative layer, wherein the plastic rail is slidably connected to a second glass, characterized in that one end of the plastic rail is fixedly connected to the edge of the first glass by the one-piece injection-molded window frame, wherein the other end of the plastic rail is provided with a guide groove for sliding the second glass, wherein the guide groove comprises an upper side wall and a lower side wall opposing each other, wherein the sealing profile is fixed between the upper side wall and the lower side wall, and wherein the second glass and the sealing profile are aligned such that they can slide against each other.wherein the side of the plastic rail facing the outside of the car is provided with a decorative layer by injection molding, wherein the distance between the decorative layer and the window frame is greater than 0.5 mm.

[0020] To enable a further understanding of the present invention, a preferred embodiment is described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0021] As in the Fig.As shown in Figures 1 to 4, the inventive window frame arrangement for automotive glass comprises a first glass 1, a window frame 2, a plastic rail 3, a sealing profile 6, and a decorative layer 4, wherein the plastic rail 3 is slidably connected to a second glass 7, characterized in that one end of the plastic rail 3 is fixedly connected to the edge of the first glass 1 by the one-piece injection-molded window frame 2, wherein the other end of the plastic rail 3 is provided with a guide groove 5 for sliding the second glass 7, wherein the guide groove 5 comprises an upper side wall 51 and a lower side wall 52, which are opposite each other, wherein the sealing profile 6 is fixed between the upper side wall 51 and the lower side wall 52, wherein the second glass 7 and the sealing profile 6 are aligned with each other in such a way that they can slide against each other.wherein the side of the plastic rail 3 facing the outside of the car is provided with a decorative layer 4 by injection molding, wherein the distance between the decorative layer 4 and the window frame 2 is greater than 0.5 mm. Preferably the distance is in the range of 0.8 to 1.5 mm.

[0022] In the present invention, the first glass 1 is a fixedly mounted triangular rear pane, and the second glass 7 is a lift-and-lower door and window pane. The first glass 1 and the plastic rail 3 are fixedly connected to each other by the one-piece injection-molded pane frame 2, the plastic rail 3 being I-shaped. The pane frame 2 is made of an injection-molded material commonly used for vehicle glass frames, such as thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and polypropylene (PP).

[0023] Existing window frame assemblies for automotive glass consist of several parts. Their production process includes not only the molding steps for all components but also the bonding steps for all products. In the molding process of the window frame assembly for automotive glass according to the invention, the decorative layer 4 can be pre-injected onto the plastic rail 3. Subsequently, the plastic rail 3, now provided with the decorative layer 4 by injection molding, can be inserted into the mold for the window frame and injection-molded in one piece with the first glass 1. The design of the present invention thus greatly simplifies the molding steps for the products, thereby improving production efficiency. The one-piece injection-molded window frame 2 has a higher temperature, and the decorative layer has a lower melting point. To avoid negative influences on the decorative layer 4 during the injection molding process, a gap is provided between the disc frame 2 and the decorative layer 4.

[0024] Furthermore, the decorative layer 4 consists of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). High-gloss PMMA material is used for the decorative layer 4. The high-gloss surface finish fully achieves the desired decorative effect in the form of a bright stripe. The plastic rail 3 consists of ABS, ABS + GF, ABS + PC + GF, or PC + GF, which meet the strength requirements and can be firmly bonded to the PMMA material.

[0025] ABS + GF is glass fiber reinforced ABS. ABS is a copolymer of acrylonitrile (A), butadiene (B), and styrene (S) and is mainly used to improve the heat resistance, stiffness, and strength of materials and to reduce material deformation. In the present invention, the glass fiber content in the glass fiber reinforced ABS is generally in the range of 10 to 30 wt.%, preferably 30 wt.%.

[0026] PC + GF is glass fiber reinforced PC. The PC raw material is polycarbonate, which is mainly used to improve the heat resistance, stiffness, and strength of materials and to reduce material deformation. In the present invention, the glass fiber content in the glass fiber reinforced PC is generally in the range of 10 to 30 wt.%, preferably 30 wt.%.

[0027] ABS + PC + GF is a glass fiber reinforced modified plastic. This modified plastic has better performance characteristics than pure PC and ABS, such as improved impact resistance, improved heat resistance, and increased hardness.

[0028] Furthermore, the thickness of the decorative layer 4 is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm. The thickness of the upper side wall 51 is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm, and the thickness of the lower side wall 52 is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm. The thickness of the window frame 2, which surrounds the side of the first glass 1 facing the outside of the car, is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm. The thickness of the window frame 2, which surrounds the lower edge of the lower side wall 52, is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm. With this thickness range, the window frame 2, the plastic rail 3, and the decorative layer 4 meet both the strength requirements and the requirements for the assembly thickness, and the existing assembly, designed as a separate type, can therefore be replaced.

[0029] Furthermore, the upper and lateral edges of the upper side wall 51 are framed by the decorative layer 4, with the lower surface of the decorative layer 41, which frames the lateral edge of the upper side wall 51, being flush with the lower surface of the upper side wall 511. The sealing profile 6 is snapped into the guide groove 5 during the subsequent assembly process. This flush design is advantageous for the assembly, maintenance, and securing of the sealing profile.

[0030] Furthermore, the lower edge and the lateral edge of the lower side wall 52 are enclosed by the glazing frame 2, wherein the upper surface of the glazing frame 21 enclosing the lateral edge of the lower side wall 52 is flush with the upper surface of the lower side wall 521.

[0031] The sealing profile 6 is snapped into the guide groove 5 during the subsequent assembly process. This flush design is advantageous for the assembly, maintenance, and securing of the sealing profile.

[0032] Furthermore, the lower surface of the upper side wall 511 is provided with an upper locking groove and the upper surface of the lower side wall 521 with a lower locking groove, the upper locking groove and the lower locking groove serving to ensure locking into and fastening to the sealing profile 6.

[0033] The foregoing description specifically describes the inventive window frame arrangement for automotive glass. However, the present invention is not limited to the content of the specific embodiment described above.
