Description

[0001] The invention relates to a knife holder for circular knives for longitudinal slitting of material webs in longitudinal cutting machines.

[0002] Such a knife holder is described in detail in EP 0 925 159 and is known under the trademark QUADRON. This patent specification of the applicant shows in Fig. Figure 2, item 9, shows a detailed, cutaway view of the cutter head, with the cutting edge of the circular blade 25 pointing in the direction of application. The circular blade is brought into the cutting position by a pneumatic diaphragm control against a return spring in the rest position of the circular blade shown here. The axes of rotation of the circular blade, diaphragm control, and return spring are arranged coaxially with each other.

[0003] In the cutting position, a torque is generated at the circular knife edge.

[0004] The invention is based on the objective of counteracting this torque.

[0005] The invention is described with reference to an exploded view shown on the reverse side. Fig. 1 of the entire knife head with hand guard and crossbar explained: The axially mounted cutter head 2 with rotatably mounted circular blade 3 is directly attached to the traverse 1 and the protective hood 4 is pivotably attached according to the QUADRON blade holder above.

[0006] Component 5 consists of three elements: a) an outer, fixed element with six bores, b) an inner, axially movable element with one bore, and c) the return spring with three spring arms.

[0007] The solution to the basic concept of the invention consists of directly compensating the torque generated in the cutting position at this point by means of a cylindrical compression spring 6. For this purpose, a blind hole 8 a,b is provided in both the movable drive head 2 and the end cap 7 for receiving this compression spring. The end cap 7, the component 5, and the stationary drive head 9 are connected to each other by the fastening screws 12. The inner bore is firmly connected to the threaded bore 11 of the component 2 by the screw 10 and is additionally provided with a liquid threadlocker. QUOTES INCLUDED IN THE DESCRIPTION
