Abstract
A system (100) for the magnetic nanoparticle-mediated iron enrichment of staple foods with real-time MRI-trackable bioavailability monitoring, the system (100) comprising: a module (1) for the production of magnetic iron nanoparticles, designed to generate iron-containing magnetic nanoparticles suitable for food enrichment; a module (2) for the functionalization and stabilization of the edible surface, functionally connected to the module (1) for the production of magnetic iron nanoparticles and configured to coat and stabilize the magnetic nanoparticles for use in food;a module (3) for conditioning the food matrix and for dosed enrichment, which is functionally connected to the module (2) for functionalizing and stabilizing the edible surface and is designed to introduce the stabilized magnetic nanoparticles in a controlled amount into one or more staple food matrices; a module (4) for magnetic field alignment and penetration control, which is functionally connected to the module (3) for conditioning the food matrix and for dosed enrichment and is configured to guide, distribute and retain the magnetic nanoparticles within the staple food matrix by applying a controlled magnetic field;an MRI-trackable bioavailability monitoring module (5) functionally connected to the food matrix conditioning and dosed enrichment module (3) and configured to acquire magnetic resonance-based tracking data reflecting nanoparticle distribution, release behavior, and iron availability; a feedback-based enrichment control and prediction module (6) functionally connected to the MRI-trackable bioavailability monitoring module (5), the food matrix conditioning and dosed enrichment module (3), and the magnetic field alignment and penetration control module (4), and configured to dynamically adjust enrichment parameters based on monitored distribution and predicted bioavailability;and a module (7) for managing safety, release and traceability, which is functionally connected to the module (1) for the production of magnetic iron nanoparticles, the module (2) for the functionalization and stabilization of the edible surface, the module (5) for monitoring MRI-trackable bioavailability and the module (6) for feedback-based enrichment control and prediction, and is configured to validate food safety, regulate limits for iron release and maintain batch-related traceability data.
