Description

[0001] Anti-dandruff shampoo

[0002] The present invention relates to a specific anti-dandruff shampoo comprising glycerol ethers, as well as to the cosmetic use of the anti-dandruff shampoo for cleansing hair and for preventing, reducing, eliminating, and alleviating dandruff on hairy body surfaces. The present invention further relates to a cosmetic method for combating scalp dandruff using the compositions.

[0003] Even mild flaking of the scalp or other hairy areas of the body is perceived as a sign of poor care and hygiene. Dandruff is usually accompanied by excruciating itching, which can trigger scratching and lead to injury to the affected skin areas. Skin injuries, in turn, often form the basis for infections and pathogens.

[0004] Dandruff formation can be caused by various factors, such as hereditary predisposition, a tendency toward excessive sebum production (seborrhea), hormonal fluctuations, stress, climatic conditions, or improper hair care. However, the primary contributor to dandruff formation is the colonization of the scalp with yeasts of the genus Malassezia. Therefore, dandruff control has always aimed to reduce and / or eliminate the Malassezia bacterial colonization of the scalp.

[0005] For this purpose, numerous cosmetically acceptable and effective anti-dandruff agents are known from the state of the art, such as piroctone olamine, climbazole, zinc pyrithione or other zinc salts, sulfur and / or selenium sulfide.

[0006] The effect of these anti-dandruff agents is mainly based on their fungicidal properties.

[0007] However, the aforementioned classic anti-dandruff active ingredients have disadvantages. Firstly, they are sometimes skin irritating and, due to their poor solubility in water, are difficult to incorporate into conventional cosmetic products. Furthermore, due to their poor biodegradability, they are increasingly under pressure, and their use in cosmetic products is being increasingly strictly regulated or even banned.

[0008] However, a reduction in the quantity or even a complete replacement of undesirable or problematic substances in cosmetic products can only be achieved if alternatives are available that also have the properties desired for the intended purpose.

[0009] Various plant extracts are known as natural anti-dandruff active ingredients, such as arnica, birch, burdock root, beard lichen, poplar, nettle, myrtle, or hazel root extracts. However, in terms of their immediate and / or long-lasting effectiveness, these extracts cannot completely replace the classic anti-dandruff active ingredients mentioned above. Therefore, there is still a need for compounds with good anti-dandruff efficacy that are available from natural sources and can be easily and readily incorporated into cosmetic products.

[0010] The object underlying the invention is therefore to provide an anti-dandruff shampoo which reduces and / or eliminates the bacterial colonization of the scalp with yeast fungi of the genus Malassezia and which comprises the highest possible proportion of more environmentally friendly anti-dandruff active ingredients.

[0011] In addition, anti-dandruff shampoos are designed to gently cleanse and care for the scalp and hair.

[0012] It has surprisingly been found that certain medium-chain glycerol ethers, obtainable from sustainable, renewable, plant-based raw materials, can be excellently incorporated into cosmetic products containing surfactants and enable effective treatment of dandruff conditions, particularly those associated with colonization and / or proliferation of yeasts of the genus Malassezia.

[0013] Anti-dandruff shampoos based on these specific glycerin ethers can be used especially on sensitive scalps, where they have a mild cleansing, balancing and soothing effect.

[0014] The present invention is therefore characterized by the following statements:

[0029] It has been found that even small amounts of compounds according to formula (I) are sufficient to achieve satisfactory anti-dandruff effectiveness.

[0030] Another advantage is that compounds of formula (I) can be combined with other, even classic, anti-dandruff active ingredients in a surfactant base, thus boosting the anti-dandruff effectiveness of even the smallest amounts of other anti-dandruff active ingredients. Compound(s) of formula (I) are preferably used in an amount range of 0.1–3 wt.%, relative to the total weight of the anti-dandruff shampoo. [0036] Mild and good foaming properties of anti-dandruff shampoos according to the invention can be controlled by careful selection of surfactant amounts and / or surfactant types.

[0037] Anti-dandruff shampoos according to the invention preferably contain at least one anionic surfactant, which is responsible for generating satisfactory foam quantities and foam properties. To achieve an optimal balance between mildness and foam properties, a mixture of at least one anionic surfactant and at least one mild co-surfactant is particularly preferred. The mild co-surfactant can preferably be selected from amphoteric and / or zwitterionic and / or non-ionic surfactants.

[0079] A particularly suitable glycerol ester in this context is glycerol monooleate. In another preferred embodiment, anti-dandruff shampoos contain at least one protein hydrolysate in a proportion of 0.01 to 3% by weight of the total weight of the anti-dandruff shampoo.

[0080] Suitable protein hydrolysates are product mixtures that can be obtained by acidic, basic or enzymatically catalysed degradation of proteins.

The protein hydrolysates underlying the cationic derivatives can be obtained from the corresponding proteins by chemical, particularly alkaline or acidic, hydrolysis, by enzymatic hydrolysis, and / or a combination of both types of hydrolysis. The hydrolysis of proteins generally results in a protein hydrolysate with a molecular weight distribution of approximately 100 Daltons up to several thousand Daltons. Preferred cationic protein hydrolysates are those whose underlying protein component has a molecular weight of 100 to 25,000 Daltons.preferably 250 to 5000 Daltons. Cationic protein hydrolysates also include quaternized amino acids and mixtures thereof. The quaternization of the protein hydrolysates or amino acids is often carried out using quaternary ammonium salts such as N,N-dimethyl-N-(n-alkyl)-N-(2-hydroxy-3-chloro-n-propyl)ammonium halides. Furthermore, the cationic protein hydrolysates can also be further derivatized.
