Abstract
Description
[0001] Hair treatment products with anti-dandruff effects
[0002] The present invention relates to hair treatment compositions based on a specific combination of active ingredients for combating dandruff, and to the cosmetic use of the hair treatment compositions for cleansing hair and for preventing, reducing, eliminating, and alleviating dandruff on hairy body surfaces. The present invention further relates to a cosmetic method for combating dandruff on the scalp using the compositions.
[0003] Even mild flaking of the scalp or other hairy areas of the body is perceived as a sign of poor care and hygiene. Dandruff is usually accompanied by excruciating itching, which can trigger scratching and lead to injury to the affected skin areas. Skin injuries, in turn, often form the basis for infections and pathogens.
[0004] Dandruff formation can be caused by various factors, such as hereditary predisposition, a tendency toward excessive sebum production (seborrhea), hormonal fluctuations, stress, climatic conditions, or improper hair care. However, the primary contributor to dandruff formation is the colonization of the scalp with yeasts of the genus Malassezia. Therefore, dandruff control has always aimed to reduce and / or eliminate the Malassezia bacterial colonization of the scalp.
[0005] For this purpose, numerous cosmetically acceptable and effective anti-dandruff agents are known from the state of the art, such as piroctone olamine, climbazole, zinc pyrithione or other zinc salts, sulfur and / or selenium sulfide.
[0006] The effect of these anti-dandruff agents is mainly based on their fungicidal properties.
[0007] However, the aforementioned classic anti-dandruff active ingredients have disadvantages. Firstly, they are sometimes skin irritating and, due to their poor solubility in water, are difficult to incorporate into conventional cosmetic products. Furthermore, due to their poor biodegradability, they are increasingly under pressure, and their use in cosmetic products is being increasingly strictly regulated or even banned.
[0008] However, a reduction in the quantity or even a complete replacement of undesirable or problematic substances in cosmetic products can only be achieved if alternatives are available that also have the properties desired for the intended purpose.
[0009] Various plant extracts are known as natural anti-dandruff active ingredients, such as arnica, birch, burdock root, beard lichen, poplar, nettle, myrtle, or hazel root extracts. However, in terms of their immediate and / or long-lasting effectiveness, these extracts cannot completely replace the classic anti-dandruff active ingredients mentioned above. Therefore, there is still a need for compounds with good anti-dandruff efficacy that are available from natural sources and that can be combined with classic anti-dandruff active ingredients to create powerful or enhanced anti-dandruff agents.
[0010] The object underlying the invention is therefore to provide a cosmetic hair treatment agent with anti-dandruff effect, the performance of which is increased and which comprises the highest possible proportion of more environmentally friendly anti-dandruff active ingredients.
[0011] In addition to increased anti-dandruff effectiveness, increased performance also includes gentle cleansing and / or care of the scalp and hair.
[0012] The objects underlying the invention are solved by the subject matter of patent claim 1.
[0013] The combination of at least two different anti-dandruff active ingredients a) and b), comprising at least one specific glycerol ether, resulted in hair treatment agents
[0014] - with increased, accelerated and / or longer-lasting anti-dandruff efficacy, which is understood to mean the effective treatment of dandruff conditions, in particular those associated with colonisation and / or proliferation of yeasts of the genus Malassezia,
[0015] - with lower skin irritation potential,
[0016] - with improved environmental compatibility,
[0017] - with improved care properties of the treated hair.

[0028] As a first essential component, the hair treatment compositions according to the invention contain at least one compound according to formula (I).
[0029] Such bio-based glycerol ethers are suitable as preservatives in cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions and as odor control agents in deodorants (WO 2021 / 237207A1).
[0030] The anti-dandruff efficacy of medium-chain glycerol ethers according to formula (I) is not yet known, nor is their effect as boosters for other anti-dandruff active ingredients.
[0031] The hair treatment compositions according to the invention preferably contain compounds of formula (I) in which n is the number 1. Also preferred are compounds of formula (I) in which R 1represents a branched Ce-Ci2-alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group, more preferably a branched Ce-Cio-alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group and particularly preferably a branched Ca-alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group.
[0032] A particularly preferred compound according to formula (I) is H3C-(CH2)5-CH(CH3)-O-CH2-CH(OH)- CH2OH (methylheptylglycerol - MHG).
[0033] It has been found that even small amounts of compounds according to formula (I) are sufficient to achieve excellent anti-dandruff efficacy in combination with at least one other anti-dandruff active ingredient b). It is particularly advantageous that even small amounts of compounds according to formula (I) in the hair treatment compositions according to the invention are sufficient to boost the efficacy of other anti-dandruff active ingredients b), thereby significantly reducing their content.
[0034] In addition to the amounts of anti-dandruff active ingredients a) and b), their weight ratio also plays a role. Thus, an excess of compounds according to formula (I) (relative to the other anti-dandruff active ingredient b)) has proven advantageous for achieving optimal anti-dandruff effectiveness.
[0035] A weight ratio of the active ingredients a) and b) in the range from 5:1 to 1:1 and particularly preferably from 4:1 to 2:1 is therefore preferred.
[0036] Likewise, a total amount of one or more compounds according to formula (I) of 0.1-3 wt.% is preferred, relative to the total weight of the hair treatment composition. Total amounts of one or more compounds according to formula (I) of 0.2-2 wt.% and in particular of 0.3-1.5 wt.% are particularly preferred.
[0037] Methylheptylglycerin (MHG) is particularly preferably used in the hair treatment compositions according to the invention in the above-mentioned amounts and weight ratios, in particular bio-based methylheptylglycerin, which is obtainable from sustainable, renewable, plant-based raw materials.
[0038] Corresponding products are available commercially, for example from the company Inolex under the trade name Lexgard® Natural MHG MB.
[0039] As at least one anti-dandruff active ingredient b), hair treatment agents according to the invention can preferably contain one or more active ingredients from the following groups: b1) Piroctone Olamine, b2) Zinc Pyrithione, b3) Zinc Oxide, b4) Zinc Carbonate, b5) Climbazole, b6) Ketoconazole, b7) Salicylic Acid, b8) Sulphur, b9) Selenium Sulphide, b10) Tar Preparations, b11) Undecenoic Acid Derivatives, b12) Lactic Acid Esters (Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Caproyl Lactylate, Sodium Caproyl / Lauroyl Lactylate), b13) 3-Hydroxypropyl Octanoate (Propanediol Caprylate), b14) Burdock Root Extracts, b15) Poplar Extracts, b16) Nettle Extracts, b17) Walnut Shell Extracts, b18) Birch Extracts, b19) Willow Bark Extracts, b20) rosemary extracts, b21) arnica extracts, b22) black pepper fruit extracts (Piper Nigrum Fruit Extract), b23) mimosa bark extracts (Inga Alba Bark Extract), b24) cinnamon bark extracts (Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract),b25) Mandarin peel extracts (Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Extract), b26) Lemon blossom, leaf, and fruit oils (Citrus Limon (Lemon) Flower / Leaf / Stem Oil), b27) Mint extracts (Mentha Arvensis Extract) b28) or mixtures thereof.
[0040] A particularly advantageous anti-dandruff effect in combination with excellent skin compatibility was achieved when compounds according to formula (I) - in particular methylheptylglycerol - were combined with one or more anti-dandruff active ingredients b) from groups b1), b12), b13) or mixtures thereof.
[0041] Very particularly preferred within the meaning of the present invention are the combinations a) and b): Methylheptylglycerin and Piroctone Olamine, Methylheptylglycerin and Propanediol Caprylate, Methylheptylglycerin and Piroctone Olamine and Propanediol Caprylate, Methylheptylglycerin and Sodium Caproyl / Lauroyl Lactylate, Methylheptylglycerin and Piroctone Olamine and Sodium Caproyl / Lauroyl Lactylate.
[0042] The at least one anti-dandruff active ingredient b) can be used in the hair treatment agents according to the invention in a total amount of 0.05 to 1 wt.%, more preferably 0.05 to 0.9 wt.%, particularly preferably 0.05 to 0.75 wt.%, very particularly preferably 0.05 to 0.6 wt.% and in particular 0.05 to 0.5 wt.%, wherein the amounts refer to the total weight of the hair treatment agents.
[0043] The daily use of some commercially available anti-dandruff compositions (for example, those containing only higher amounts of zinc pyrithione) can sometimes lead to drying out of the scalp and, in the worst case, to increased dandruff, especially in sensitive scalps.
[0044] The hair treatment compositions according to the invention do not have this disadvantage. They can be used regularly and reduce, eliminate, alleviate, and / or prevent the formation of dandruff. This effect occurs even with small amounts of anti-dandruff active ingredients a) and b), for example, in hair treatment compositions that comprise up to 1% by weight of components a) and b) (with an excess of active ingredient a), as explained above).
[0045] The hair treatment compositions according to the invention preferably contain the active ingredients a) and b) in a cosmetic carrier. For the purposes of the invention, this is preferably understood to be an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic carrier.
[0046] The cosmetic carrier preferably contains at least 70% by weight, more preferably at least 72.5% by weight and especially preferably at least 75% by weight of water.
[0047] Furthermore, the cosmetic carrier may contain 0.01 to 10 wt.%, preferably 0.05 to 9 wt.% and in particular 0.10 to 6 wt.% of at least one alcohol.
[0048] Suitable alcohols are, for example, ethanol, ethyl diglycol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, isopropanol, 1,2-propylene glycol, glycerin, diglycerin, triglycerin, 1-butanol, 2-butanol, 1,2-butanediol, 1,3-butanediol, 1-pentanol, 2-pentanol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1, hexanol, 2-hexanol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, polyethylene glycols, sorbitol, sorbitan, benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol or mixtures of these alcohols.
[0049] The hair treatment compositions according to the invention can in principle be formulated both as rinse-off hair cleansing compositions and as rinse-off or leave-on hair conditioning compositions and, in addition to the anti-dandruff active ingredients a) and b), preferably contain 0.5 - 20 wt.% of at least one surfactant, which can be selected from anionic, amphoteric, zwitterionic, non-ionic and cationic surfactants or any mixtures thereof.
[0050] Hair treatment compositions according to the invention are preferred which are formulated as rinse-off hair cleaning compositions, for example as anti-dandruff shampoo.
[0051] Mild and good foaming properties of rinse-off hair cleansers according to the invention can be controlled by careful selection of surfactant amounts and / or surfactant types.
[0052] Rinse-off hair cleansing agents according to the invention preferably contain at least one anionic surfactant, which is responsible for generating satisfactory amounts of foam and foam properties. To achieve an optimal balance between mildness and foam properties, a mixture of at least one anionic surfactant and at least one mild co-surfactant is particularly preferred.
