Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a facade element with a frame formed from profiles, on which at least one sealing frame is arranged on an outer circumference, the sealing frame being formed from corner sealing pieces and sealing profiles connecting the corner sealing pieces, wherein each corner sealing piece has at least one insertion part inserted into a hollow chamber of one of the sealing profiles and an arm extending from the insertion part in the longitudinal direction of the sealing profile outside the sealing profile.

[0002] DE 20 2017 104 445 U1 discloses a window or door with a seal that can be assembled into a continuous sealing frame using corner sealing elements. The use of such a sealing frame can create a continuous seal around the frame. However, deformation can occur in the corner area of the sealing frame, impairing the seal if the corner sealing element is compressed in two or more directions. This can lead to compression of the sealing profile, resulting in a wave-like shape and thus leaks.

[0003] German patent application DE 20 2019 102 117 U1 discloses facade elements that can be assembled to form a unitized facade. Each facade element comprises a surrounding frame to which an infill panel is attached. The facade elements can be prefabricated and installed on a building, then connected to each other using coupling elements. Adjacent facade elements are sealed by sealing profiles mounted around the perimeter of the facade element's frame. Particularly in corner areas, sealing problems can arise with such facade elements.

[0004] It is therefore an object of the present invention to create a facade element that enables improved sealing in relation to adjacent facade elements.

[0005] This problem is solved with a facade element having the features of claim 1.

[0006] The facade element according to the invention comprises a frame formed from profiles, on which at least one sealing frame is arranged at an outer circumference. This sealing frame is formed from corner sealing pieces and sealing profiles connecting the corner sealing pieces. Each corner sealing piece has at least one insertion part that is inserted into a hollow chamber of one of the sealing profiles and an arm extending from the insertion part in the longitudinal direction of the sealing profile outside the sealing profile. The cross-section of the sealing profile is larger than the cross-section of the arm. Due to the smaller cross-section of the arm, compression in the corner area can be reduced or eliminated during the installation of adjacent facade elements, because the smaller cross-section means that no or less shortening of the arm and the sealing profile is necessary when adjacent facade elements are positioned next to each other and sealed.During the installation of the facade elements, each corner sealing piece is subjected to stress in two directions, usually horizontally and vertically, causing it to be compressed along the length of the sealing profiles. This leads to deformation of the arms and the sealing profile connected to them, resulting in a wave-like shape and consequently leaks. A smaller cross-section can reduce this compression effect, thus improving the seal.

[0007] Preferably, the arm of the corner sealing profile extends less outwards than the adjacent sealing profile. When an adjacent facade element is installed, the sealing profile is compressed more from the outside inwards than the arm of the corner sealing piece, resulting in less compression of the remaining arm of the corner sealing piece. The cross-section of the sealing profile is preferably at least 10% larger than the cross-section of the arm, for example, between 10% and 30%. The sealing profile can have a constant cross-section and is manufactured, for example, by extrusion. The arm preferably also has a constant cross-section up to the insertion point.

[0008] Preferably, the arm has only a single hollow chamber, which is smaller than the single hollow chamber of the sealing profile, in order to reduce the cross-section of the arm by, for example, at least 10%. Each sealing profile and the arm preferably have only a single hollow chamber to ensure a high degree of elasticity. Optionally, multiple hollow chambers can also be provided in the arm and the sealing profile.

[0009] Each corner sealing piece preferably has two angularly aligned arms, in particular these can be aligned at right angles to each other, each arm having an insertion part that can be inserted into a hollow chamber of a sealing profile.

[0010] In a preferred embodiment, the sealing profile is tubular in shape, and at least one elastic sealing lip is formed on its outer surface. Preferably, two spaced-apart sealing lips are formed, projecting from opposite sides. This allows the sealing profile to provide a multi-level seal when two of the sealing profiles are pressed together. A first sealing level is then formed by the tubular section of the two sealing profiles, which are pressed against each other, thus creating a seal. Further sealing levels can be provided by one or two spaced-apart sealing lips, formed by the elastic sealing lips that contact each other.

[0011] Preferably, at least one of the corner sealing pieces has an opening for drainage and / or ventilation. Preferably, the sealing frame has an opening for ventilation on an upper corner sealing piece and an opening for drainage on a lower corner sealing piece, which are connected to each other via the hollow chamber of one of the sealing profiles. This allows any moisture that penetrates to be carried downwards to the drainage opening, while air exchange can occur through the ventilation opening. In the installed facade element, the ventilation opening is preferably located on an inner side, i.e., facing the building interior, and the drainage opening is located on an outer side of the corner sealing piece. The drainage and / or ventilation opening can be covered with a mesh, e.g., gauze, or a closure element.

[0012] The facade element is preferably part of a unitized facade system, wherein at least two adjacent facade elements are provided on the unitized facade system, each contacting the other on one side of the sealing frame for sealing purposes. The unitized facade system can comprise facade elements that are surrounded on all four sides by another facade element.

[0013] The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a detail view of a unitized facade in a corner area; Fig. 2 an exploded view of a corner area of a facade element; Fig. 3 a sectional view through two adjacent facade elements; Figs. 4A and 4B two views of corner sealing pieces with openings; and Fig. 5 a detail view of a corner sealing piece with an opening for drainage.

[0014] A unitized facade comprises at least two facade elements 1, each of which has a frame formed from profiles 2, on the outer perimeter of which at least one sealing frame 4 is arranged. Adjacent facade elements 1 can be sealed via the sealing frame 4.

[0015] A filling element 3, e.g., an insulating glass unit or a panel, can be fixed to the frame 2, with each facade element optionally also having sashes in the form of windows or struts dividing the frame. Each frame formed from profiles 2 includes at least one sealing frame 4 on its outer circumference, which comprises corner sealing pieces 5 and sealing profiles 6. The corner sealing pieces 5 are arranged in the four corners of the frame and are each connected to one another via sealing profiles 6. Figure 1Two sealing frames 4 are provided on each facade element 1, as can be seen in the cross-sectional view of the respective frame. It is also possible to provide only one sealing frame 4 or more than two sealing frames 4.

[0016] During the assembly of the prefabricated facade elements 1, these are positioned on top of or next to each other, whereby a seal between adjacent facade elements 1 is created via the sealing frame. In Figure 1, two facade elements 1 are shown one above the other, and the arrangement of the two facade elements 1 compresses the sealing profiles 6 and deforms a hollow chamber 8 of the sealing profiles 6. Additional facade elements are also placed on the right side of the Figure 1This is either provided for or a building termination presses on the sealing frame 4 from the right side, causing compression of the corner sealing pieces 5 and the sealing profiles 6 in this direction as well. In the corner area, the problem arises that the corner sealing pieces 5 are compressed in two directions, so that the corner sealing pieces 5 and also the sealing profiles 6 adjoining the corner sealing pieces 5 can be compressed, i.e., shortened in the longitudinal direction, leading to the formation of waves, which are shown schematically. Such waves 21 can lead to leaks.

[0017] In Figure 2Figure 1 shows a corner area of a facade element 1. The frame with the profiles 2 has an outwardly open groove into which a base element 7 of the sealing profile 6 is inserted for fixing. The sealing profile 6 is tubular and comprises a hollow chamber 8. Two flexible sealing lips 9 are formed on one outer side of the sealing profile 6. The sealing profile 6 has an outward height H relative to the frame, thus projecting from the profiles 2.

[0018] The corner sealing piece 5 comprises two arms 11 arranged at an angle to each other, each with an insertion element 10 molded onto its end. The insertion element 10 can be inserted into the hollow chamber 8 of the sealing profile 6 to align the arm 11 relative to the sealing profile 6. The arm 11 extends the sealing profile 6, having a smaller cross-section than the sealing profile 6, for example, at least 10% smaller. The arm 11 extends outwards from the frame by only a height h, which is less than the height H of the sealing profile 6, for example, by 5%–20% less. The second arm 11 also has a lower height h than the adjacent sealing profile 6, so that the corner sealing pieces 5 each have a shorter outwards extension than the sealing profiles 6. This reduced height minimizes waviness in the corner area, resulting in a better seal.

[0019] In Figure 3A corner area of two adjacent facade elements 1 is shown. The upper facade element comprises modified profiles 2' to form a frame, the sealing frame 4 being designed as in the previous embodiment. The sealing frame 4 includes a lower corner sealing piece 5, in which an opening 13 for drainage is formed on an arm 11. The drainage opening 13 is connected to a hollow chamber 12 in the arm, which is in contact with the hollow chamber 8 of the sealing profile 6. This allows moisture to drain through the sealing profile 6 via the opening 13, as indicated by arrow 14. Below the corner sealing piece 5 with the opening 13, an upper area of an adjacent facade element 1 is shown, in which an opening 15 for ventilation is provided on the corner sealing piece 5. The ventilation opening 15 is located on an inner side, i.e., on the building side, and faces the profiles 2'.As shown by arrow 16, moist air can enter between the profiles 2' into the opening 15 on the corner sealing piece and then be guided there over the hollow chamber of the sealing profile 6, whereby condensed water can then be drained out at the opening 13.

[0020] In Figure 4A The upper corner sealing piece 5 is shown, comprising two arms 11, with at least one of the arms 11 having an opening 15 for ventilation. Optionally, several openings 15 can be provided on the corner sealing piece 5. Each arm 11 is connected to a sealing profile 6, so that a circumferential ventilation channel is formed within the sealing frame 4.

[0021] In Figure 4BA lower corner sealing piece 5 of a facade element 1 is shown, and it can be seen that at least one of the two arms 11 has an opening 13 for drainage. Optionally, several openings 13 for drainage can also be provided. The drainage opening 13 is located on the opposite side from the ventilation opening 15.

[0022] Figure 5Figure 1 shows a detailed view of two overlapping arms 11 of two corner sealing pieces 5, each fixed to a facade element 1. Each arm 11 has a hollow chamber 18, which is elongated due to pressure. The upper arm 11 includes the opening 13 for drainage, and a grille 20 or gauze may be provided at the opening 13 to prevent the ingress of insects or contaminants. Optionally, or alternatively, a closure element 19 in the form of a flap may be provided, which facilitates the drainage of liquid from the opening 13 and can optionally also cover the opening 13.

[0023] The overlapping arms 11 exhibit the formation of three sealing planes. Each arm 11 is compressed in a central region, so that this central region is sealed by contact with the tubular arm 11. Furthermore, each arm 11 has two elastic sealing lips 17 projecting from opposite sides, similar to the sealing lips 9 on the sealing profiles 6. These sealing lips 17 can abut each other in the assembled position, thus forming additional sealing planes that prevent moisture from penetrating from the outside to the inside.

[0024] The sealing profiles 6 and the corner sealing pieces 5 are preferably made of an elastic material, e.g. EPDM, a foam rubber or an elastic plastic. Reference symbol list
