Description

[0001] The invention relates to a device for marking roof tiles, a device for separating roof tiles and a method for separating roof tiles.

[0002] The devices and method are particularly used for thatching roofs with valleys, hips, rising eaves or sloping verges. For this, roof tiles must be cut to size. Typically, the roof is covered right up to the last full roof tile, up to the cutting line. Conventionally, the cutting line is then moved parallel, i.e. the cutting line is measured at the top and bottom ends and then transferred to the roof tiles over the entire length using a chalk line. When the chalk line is used, the cutting line is only visible on the raised beads of the roof tile. The roof tiles are then cut to size with an angle grinder, which in practice is usually done on the roof. After the roof tile remnants have been removed from the roof as waste, the cut roof tiles are installed.

[0003] Cutting roof tiles places the roofer in an ergonomically unsafe position. Furthermore, according to the relevant regulations in many countries, in Germany according to the regulations of the BG Bau (German Construction Workers' Union), standing on the roof is defined as unsafe. The roofer must stand on the already tiled roof, which entails a corresponding risk of falling. The BG Bau also classifies cutting roof tiles on the roof as unacceptable from an occupational safety perspective. According to the accident prevention regulations (UVV), the roofer must remove the roof tiles from the roof after marking them and cut them to size on the ground. However, because this procedure appears cumbersome, it is not practiced this way in practice.

[0004] In addition, dust development on the roof cannot be controlled and contained. The workflow is also highly inefficient, as the affected roof tiles have to be repositioned multiple times.

[0005] Against this background, it is an object of the present invention to improve the working conditions when marking and cutting roof tiles.

[0006] This object is achieved by a device for marking roof tiles having the features of claim 1, by a device for separating roof tiles having the features of claim 6, and by a method for separating roof tiles having the features of claim 13. Advantageous further developments are the subject of the respective dependent claims and emerge from the description and the drawings.

[0007] A device according to a first aspect of the invention is used for marking roof tiles and comprises a frame having a linear guide, a turntable arranged on the frame and rotatable relative to the frame, on which the roof tiles can be positioned, and a marking unit having a contour sensor for contacting the contour of a roof tile positioned on the turntable. The marking unit or the turntable is movable along the linear guide.

[0008] Marking is the process of marking a cutting line on the surface of roof tiles. This can be done, for example, by marking or even by scoring the surface. In particular, roof tiles can have a shape with raised and lowered ridges. In other words, the surfaces of roof tiles are generally not flat, but can be described as wavy, for example.

[0009] The frame can form the basic framework of the device and, in particular, have a rectangular base plate. The linear guide can, for example, be provided on opposite sides of the base plate. Furthermore, the frame can be designed to be placed on the floor or a particularly flat work surface or base.

[0010] The turntable is arranged on the frame and can in particular be rotatably mounted on the frame so that the turntable can be changed in its orientation relative to the frame.

[0011] The contour sensor can in particular be lowerable towards the turntable or the roof tile and, in the lowered state, can rest along its entire extent against the contour of the roof tile positioned on the turntable. This applies in particular if the roof tile, as described above, does not have a flat or level surface but is provided with raised and lowered ridges. The contour sensor can be lowered in particular by actuating an actuating lever. For this purpose, a mechanism can be provided which converts a rotary movement of the actuating lever into a vertical up and down movement via guided connecting rods, or a mechanism which converts a linear movement into a vertical up and down movement via a guide device. The contour sensor can adapt to the contour and also follow the course of the ridges.Once the tile is in place, the cutting line is then applied to the roof tile, for example, using a pin or a contour gauge that functions as a pin along the contour gauge's length. This ensures that the marking line or cutting line is precise along the entire length of the scribe, whereas conventional marking methods can result in inaccuracies, particularly in the deep ridge area, if the marking is only made in the high ridge area.

[0012] The device allows cutting parameters for the roof tiles to be determined once after measuring the roof for a specific work step when roofing a roof, such as valley, hip, eaves or verge. The cutting parameters can be, in particular, a cutting position and a cutting angle, thus defining how precisely the roof tiles must be cut for this work step. Based on the cutting parameters, the device can then be adjusted by setting the angle of the turntable and the position of the marking unit or the turntable along the linear guide. Once the device is adjusted, the roof tiles required for the work step can be placed one after the other on the turntable and marked out.

[0013] This approach is very efficient because the jig only needs to be adjusted once for each work step. The roof tiles can then be marked out quickly one after the other for that work step without having to completely readjust the jig in between. In particular, there is generally no need to readjust the angle of the turntable for each individual tile. This saves work steps, which improves work efficiency. Furthermore, the jig is designed for use on the ground. By omitting the use of the chalk line and allowing the cutting data to be generated via calculation, there is no incentive for the roofer to mark out and cut to size on the roof. Instead, the jig is adjusted on the ground. The roof tiles are then marked out and cut to size on the ground, and only then are they transported to the roof in their ready-to-lay shape. This device significantly increases work safety and ergonomics. Cutting on the ground also prevents dust buildup on the roof.

[0014] The contour detector advantageously has a contact surface that is designed to conform to the contour of the roof tile. In particular, the contour detector can extend along a direction of extension and have a plurality of disc elements arranged in a row along the direction of extension, which are mounted on the marking unit so that they can be individually moved in a direction towards the turntable and together define the contact surface. The disc elements can be seated on a guide plate so that they can be individually moved relative to the guide plate, wherein the guide plate is coupled to the vertical movement, i.e. the lowering of the contour detector. The design with the individually movable disc elements achieves a high level of flexibility, so that the disc elements can adapt to a contour with high and low beads. This ensures that the marking is applied precisely during marking, even in the area of the low beads.

[0015] To reproduce the contour of the roof tiles as precisely as possible, it is advantageous if the pane elements have a thickness of approximately 1 mm to approximately 4 mm, in particular approximately 1.5 mm, in the direction of extension. Furthermore, adjacent pane elements can be directly adjacent to one another in the direction of extension.

[0016] As an alternative to the design of the contour sensor using disc elements, it is also conceivable for the contour sensor to be designed using an elastic material, such as an elastic fabric or rigid foam, in order to ensure that the contour sensor adapts to the contour of the roof tile.

[0017] A device according to a further aspect of the invention is used for separating roof tiles and comprises a frame having a linear guide, a turntable arranged on the frame and rotatable relative to the frame, on which the roof tiles can be positioned, and a separating unit having a drivable tool, in particular a saw blade, for separating a roof tile positioned on the turntable. The separating unit or the turntable is movable along the linear guide.

[0018] In this respect, the device is similar to the previously described device according to the first aspect with regard to the frame, the linear guide, and the turntable. In this respect, the above statements regarding these features also apply to the device for separating roof tiles. In contrast, the device for separating roof tiles comprises the separating unit, which can be lowered, in particular, toward the turntable or the roof tile. This allows the roof tiles, when positioned on the turntable and the separating unit is lowered toward the turntable or the roof tile, to be cut (separated) to size without the need for prior marking. As described above, the device is first adjusted according to the determined cutting parameters, namely by adjusting the angle of the turntable and the position of the cutting unit or turntable along the linear guide so that the cutting unit and turntable are correctly positioned and aligned. The roof tiles required for the work step can then be placed one after the other on the turntable and cut or trimmed. This eliminates the need for the subsequent marking step.

[0019] The frame preferably has a position indicator on which the position of the marking unit or the cutting unit or the position of the rotary table along the linear guide can be read. The position indicator can be a scale provided on the frame and running along the linear guide. However, other configurations of the position indicator are also conceivable, such as a digital display. The marking unit or the cutting unit or the rotary table can have a display element for displaying the position on the position indicator, such as an arrow-shaped display element, which moves with the marking unit or the rotary table during a movement along the linear guide and is directed towards the position indicator.

[0020] The device can also include a position lock for locking the marking unit, the cutting unit, or the rotary table at any position along the linear guide. The fact that the position can be set at any position means that the position can be continuously adjusted. Once the correct position has been set, the lock prevents the rotary table and the marking unit from moving relative to each other in the direction of the linear guide. This allows several roof tiles to be marked consecutively for a single work step without having to reposition the marking unit or the rotary table.

[0021] The turntable can have a stop for the roof tile to position the roof tile on the turntable. The roof tile can be brought into contact with the stop, particularly with its tile rebate. This is particularly helpful for positioning each roof tile uniformly on the turntable.

[0022] The turntable can also have an angle lock for locking the turntable at any angle relative to the marking unit. The fact that the angle can be set at any angle means that the angle can be continuously adjusted. Once the correct angle has been set, the angle lock prevents the turntable from rotating relative to the marking unit. The angle lock can have a clamping lever that is used to lock and release the turntable.

[0023] The frame can define a frame plane, wherein the turntable is rotatable about an axis extending orthogonally to the frame plane and the marking unit or the separating unit or the turntable is movable substantially parallel to the frame plane.

[0024] The method according to the invention is used for separating roof tiles using a device comprising a frame with a linear guide and a turntable arranged on the frame and rotatable relative to the frame, on which the roof tiles can be positioned. The method comprises the following steps: Determining cutting parameters for the roof tiles for a work step, wherein the cutting parameters include in particular a cutting position and a cutting angle for the roof tiles to be marked out, determining setting parameters for the device for the work step based on the cutting parameters, setting the setting parameters on the device, sequentially positioning the roof tiles required for the work step on the turntable and separating the roof tiles according to the cutting parameters.

[0025] The process therefore first determines how precisely the roof tiles required for the respective work step must be separated or cut. In particular, the position ("cutting position") and angle ("cutting angle") of the cutting guide relative to the roof tile are determined. Based on this, the setting parameters for adjusting the device are then determined. The setting parameters define device settings so that the turntable with the roof tile is aligned and positioned so that the roof tiles are separated along the desired cutting line. The setting parameters can, in particular, include the angle of the turntable or the position of a marking unit or a cutting unit or of the turntable along the linear guide.

[0026] The roof tiles can be separated in two different ways. Either the roof tiles positioned on the turntable are separated directly by a separating unit. The separating unit, which may have a drivable tool for separating a roof tile positioned on the turntable, can, for example, be part of the device and can be moved along the linear guide.

[0027] Alternatively, the device can comprise a marking unit having a contour sensor for contacting the contour of a roof tile positioned on the turntable, wherein the marking unit or the turntable is movable along the linear guide. In this case, a marking mark is applied to the roof tiles prior to cutting along the contour sensor. The roof tiles are then cut according to the marking mark, which is in turn applied according to the cutting parameters, after the marking mark has been applied, either while the roof tile is still positioned on the turntable or after the roof tile has been removed from the turntable.

[0028] After each roof tile has been positioned on the turntable, the marking unit can be lowered to allow the contour picker to rest on the contour of the roof tile positioned on the turntable, so that the contour picker adapts to the contour of the roof tile.

[0029] Determining cutting parameters and / or setting parameters can be done using calculation software, especially for roof tiles that are not laid in a bonded pattern. For this purpose, the roof is measured and the necessary parameters are entered into the calculation software, so that the calculation software can output the respective parameters. It is also conceivable for the calculation software to be an app for a device with which photos of the roof to be covered can be taken, with the app then measuring the roof based on the photos.

[0030] The determination or calculation of cutting parameters or adjustment parameters can be achieved, in particular, by focusing on two different types of roof sections, namely valleys and hips, where the calculation of the hip represents the mirror image of the valley. Other sections, such as sloping verges or rising eaves, can ultimately be considered derivatives of valleys and hips, so that by mapping valleys and hips, the determination of cutting or adjustment parameters for verges and eaves is also possible.

[0031] The parameters necessary for determining the cutting parameters can include brick dimensions such as length, width, the covering width and the distance of the brick noses from the top edge of the brick.

[0032] To determine the cutting parameters, you can initially assume a battened and divided roof. As a rule, the third tile is marked on each batten so that the roof surface looks the same everywhere. As a reference on the roof surface, for example, the last division line running all the way from top to bottom on the roof can be used. In the example of the valley, this would be the division line that is closest to the valley and still runs all the way from top to bottom on the roof. The distance from the division line to the valley is then measured on the top and bottom roof battens (upper and lower valley measurements). By specifying the batten measurement, i.e. the distance between the top edges of two adjacent battens, and the number of rows of tiles, a geometric pentagon can be created. The tile measurements are needed to move the roof tiles accordingly.to be corrected, as these are always covered by other bricks on the sides and top. The cutting parameters of the individual bricks at the cutting edge can then be determined using general angle functions.

[0033] It is understood that the method according to the invention can be carried out in particular using the devices according to the invention. Features and advantages disclosed herein in connection with the devices thus apply equally to the method and vice versa.

[0034] The invention is explained below purely by way of example with reference to embodiments schematically illustrated in the drawings. In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a device for marking roof tiles according to an embodiment, Fig. 2 is a further perspective view of the device from Fig. 1 , Fig. 3 an enlarged view of detail III from Fig. 2, Fig. 4 a perspective view of a device for marking roof tiles according to a further embodiment, Fig. 5 an enlarged view of the detail V from Fig. 4 and Fig. 6 a perspective view of a device for separating roof tiles according to a further embodiment.

[0035] Fig. 1 and 2 and 4 Each shows a device 10 for marking roof tiles 100. The respective devices 10 comprise a frame 11, each of which has a rectangular base plate defining a frame plane and guide rails 13, 15 attached thereto. The guide rails 13, 15 are attached to opposite edges of the base plate and together form a linear guide. The base plate can be positioned, for example, on the floor or on a work surface.

[0036] A turntable 21 is arranged rotatably on the frame 11, or rather on its base plate. The rotation axis of the turntable 21 runs orthogonally to the frame plane. The turntable 21 serves to hold and position roof tiles 100, such as in Fig. 4 visible. In order to position the roof tiles correctly and precisely on the turntable 21, the turntable 21 is provided with a stop 23 for the roof tiles 100.

[0037] As described, the turntable 21 is basically mounted so that it can rotate relative to the base plate, but has an angle lock for continuously locking the turntable 21. The angle lock can be fixed (activated) or released (deactivated) by means of a clamping lever 39.

[0038] The device 10 has a marking unit 25 extending in an extension direction X. The marking unit 25 is arranged on the opposite guide rails 13, 15 so that it can be moved by rollers 41 and can thus be moved parallel to the frame plane in a direction orthogonal to the extension direction X by using an adjusting lever 43. This allows the position of the marking unit 25 to be adjusted relative to the turntable 21 and read off a position indicator 17 by means of a display element 19. In addition, a position lock is provided to lock the marking unit 25 in any position along the linear guide 13, 15.The setting (activation) of the position lock can be done in particular by using the setting lever 43, so that by moving the setting lever 43 along the travel direction the marking unit 25 can be moved and by pivoting the setting lever 43 the position lock can be set or released.

[0039] The marking unit 25 has a contour sensor 27, which has a contact surface 29 facing the rotary table 21. The contour sensor 27 and the contact surface 29 are designed such that they can adapt to the contour of the roof tiles 100, including the raised and lower beads. This is achieved either by the contour sensor 27 being made of an elastic material ( Fig. 1 to 3 ), such as an elastic material or rigid foam, or that the contour sensor 27, as in Fig. 4 and 5shown, has a plurality of disc elements 31 arranged in series along the extension direction X.

[0040] The disc elements 31 are mounted on the marking unit 25 so as to be individually movable in a direction orthogonal to the direction of extension X and toward the rotary table 21, and together define the contact surface 29 on their undersides. When the disc elements 31 come into contact with the contour of a roof tile 100, they adapt to it. When the disc elements 31 are moved away from the roof tile 100, they automatically return to their original position.

[0041] The marking unit 25 is operated by means of an actuating lever 37 (see Fig. 3) so that the contour detector 27 is moved downwards towards the turntable 21 and comes into contact with a roof tile 100 positioned on the turntable 21, so that the contour detector 27 conforms to the contour of the roof tile 100. The user of the device 10 can then mark the roof tile 100 on the contour detector 27, wherein the marking can also be precisely applied in the deep beads of the roof tile 100 due to the conforming contour detector 27.

[0042] Fig. 6 shows an embodiment of a device 10 for separating roof tiles 100. This device essentially corresponds to the basic structure of the device according to Fig. 1 to 5 In this respect, reference is made to the previous explanations and only the differences are discussed.

[0043] Instead of a marking unit, the device is designed according to Fig. 6provided with a cutting unit 33, which has a saw blade as a drivable tool 35. In addition, the turntable 21 is according to Fig. 6 arranged on the linear guide 13, 15. In the device according to Fig. 6 Thus, the rotary plate 21 can first be adjusted and locked with respect to its position along the linear guide 13, 15 and with respect to its angle. Then, the roof tile 100 located on the rotary plate 21 is separated using the tool 35. To avoid or reduce dust, it may be helpful to use the device according to Fig. 6 provide an extraction device (not shown).

[0044] When using the previously described devices 10, the roof is first measured. Then, for a roofing work step, such as valley, hip, eaves, or verge, cutting parameters for the roof tiles 100 of this work step are determined. These are, in particular, the position and angle of the guided cut. From this, the setting parameters of the devices 10 can be derived, i.e., the position of the marking unit 25 or the rotary table 21 along the guide rails 13, 15 and the angle of the rotary table 21. The settings are then made on the device 10 and locked using the position lock or the angle lock.

[0045] Subsequently, the roof tiles 100 can be positioned one after the other on the turntable 21 for this work step and, depending on the embodiment, marked or cut. In the device 10 for marking roof tiles 100, in which the roof tiles 100 are marked, the cutting or cutting takes place in a subsequent step, which generally takes place outside the device 10, but on the ground, i.e., not on the roof. Only after the cutting are the separated roof tiles transported to the roof for covering. List of reference symbols
