[0003] The present invention relates to the field of personal and cosmetic products. More specifically, the present invention relates to the field of portable or travel mirrors and packaging for products such as make-up, contact lenses and other personal products for which it is advantageous to use a mirror when applying.
[0004] BACKGROUND
[0005] It is advantageous to use a mirror when applying make-up to the face, inserting contact lenses in the eyes or applying other products such as suncream or hair wax. Mirrors are beneficial when using these products as they allow the user to see where the product is being applied and / or ensure sufficient coverage of the product on their face. Furthermore, when applying products for aesthetic reasons, such as make-up, it is very important to the user to ensure that the make-up looks as desired when applied to the face. Mirrors have been used for these reasons, and for other applications, for decades, as is well known.
[0006] A problem with mirrors is that they are often in fixed locations such as bathrooms. However, it is becoming more and more common for personal products to be applied whilst people are away from home or their workplace, where fixed mirrors are commonly found. In this connection it is becoming more common to carry a small mirror together with make-up or other personal products, to allow their accurate application away from fixed mirrors. For example, it is common for people to apply make-up on trains when commuting using a make-up palette and a portable mirror.
[0007] There are several problems with carrying a portable mirror and a make-up palette. Firstly, it is easy for the mirror and make-up to become separated, for example for the mirror to become lost. Secondly, portable mirrors often have their mirrored surface exposed, which can easily become scratched or damaged thereby impacting the ability to properly use the mirror. Furthermore, it is often difficult to find a suitable place to stand the mirror when it is in use such that it is both secure (i.e. does not fall over) and is also in an optimal position for use such that the user can apply the personal product using the mirror. In this connection, the user of the mirror can become very frustrated if attempting to apply make-up or insert contact lenses for example and the mirror repeatedly falls over or moves out of optimal position for the user seeing their face or eyes.
[0008] Prior art make-up palettes typically have a flip closure lid which covers the make-up product when not in use. In some prior art examples the lid is provided with an internal mirror.

[0011] US2017 / 164736 discloses a tray received within a housing aperture. The tray is preferably mounted to the housing by way of a sliding carriage assembly. Levers are mounted to the tray and pivotable between latching and releasing configurations. Latched, the levers prevent removal of the tray from (the carriage and) the housing. When the tray is opened and the levers are in the releasing configuration, the tray is selectively removable from (the carriage and) the housing. On selective re-engagement with (the carriage and) the housing and movement to the closed configuration, lever surfaces are urged by aligning surfaces on (the carriage or) the housing to automatically pivot the levers towards the latching configuration.
[0012] It is an object of the invention to address at least some of the aforementioned problems or to at least provide an alternative to the prior art solutions.
[0013] SUMMARY
[0014] According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a box comprising: a generally tubular sleeve defining a through passage and comprising a first catch projecting into the through passage; a planar divider extending across said passage; a belt extending around said divider in a continuous loop; a pop-up member extending into the passage and comprising: an attachment portion attached to the belt; a forward portion comprising: a mirrored surface; and a second catch arranged to engage with the first catch in use; and a hinge located between the attachment portion and the forward portion such that the forward portion can rotate in use relative to the attachment portion; and a tray member attached to the belt and extending into the passage; such that as the tray member is moved out of the passage in a first direction in use the pop-up member moves out of the passage in a second direction opposite to the first direction and the first and second catches engage such that the forward portion is rotated around the hinge relative to the attachment portion; and as the tray member is moved into the passage in the second direction in use the pop-up member moves into the passage in the first direction.

This may provide the advantage that the product and mirror cannot become separated and lost. [0047] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0048] Figure 1 shows a make-up box 1 in a stowed configuration. As will be explained in detail, in this stowed configuration, the user is not able to apply make-up because the mirror (not shown in Figure 1 ) and the make-up (not shown in Figure 1 ) are not accessible. To access the mirror and make-up, the user must move the box to an open configuration, as will be explained.
[0049] Still referring to Figure 1 , the box 1 comprises major components of: a tubular sleeve 100; a planar divider 200; a belt 300; a pop-up member 400 and a tray member 500. In the example shown in Figure 1 , the planar divider 200, belt 300, pop-up member 400 and tray member 500 are all visible from the viewpoint provided in Figure 1 . It will be understood that in alternative examples (not shown) some or all of these components may be hidden by one or more of: a flap; a cover; and a hinged portion. In such examples, hiding these components when the box is in the stowed configuration may provide a more elegant or pleasing design. Furthermore, the aforementioned flap, cover or hinge may provide protection for these components such that they are not damaged when the box is carried in a handbag or backpack of a user, for example. Each of the major components and their arrangement together is now explained in more detail.
[0050] The tubular sleeve 100 comprises a top surface 101 , a right surface 102, a left surface 103 and a bottom surface 104. The tubular sleeve 100 defines a through-passage 110 housing all of the other components of the box 1 when the box 1 is in the stowed configuration shown in Figures 1 to 3, save for a pull portion 510 of the tray member 500 which is outside of the tubular sleeve 100 such that it can be easily gripped by a user in use. In this connection, the other components of the box 1 are protected by the tubular sleeve 100 when in the stowed configuration. The tubular sleeve 100 is formed of cardboard in the presently described example. In other examples the tubular sleeve 100 may be formed of other materials.
[0051] Still referring to Figure 1 , the planar divider 200 extends across the through-passage 110, thereby dividing the through-passage 110 into an upper passage 111 and a lower passage 112. The planar divider 200 is formed of cardboard in the presently described example. Still referring to Figure 1 , it can be seen that the belt 300 extends around the planar divider 200, the purpose of which will be explained in more detail later. The pop-up member 400 is housed within the tubular sleeve 100 in the upper passage 111 and the tray member 500 is housed within the tubular sleeve 100 in the lower passage 112. When the pull portion 510 is pulled to move the tray member 500 in a first direction A out of the lower passage 112, the pop-up member 400 moves out of the upper passage 111 in a second direction B, opposite to the first direction A, as will be explained in more detail later.
[0052] Referring to Figure 4, further details of the tray member 500 and pop-up member 400 are now provided. The tray member 500 comprises a first compartment 521 , a second compartment 522 and a third compartment 523. In the presently described example, the first 521 , second 522 and third 523 compartments are arranged such that they can hold different make-up products. As previously mentioned, the specific type of product is not important. In this connection, it will be within the capabilities of a person skilled in the art to design the compartments 521 , 522, 523 such that they are suitable to hold the desired products. Although in the presently described example there are three compartments 521 , 522, 523, it will be understood that in other examples there may be one compartment, two compartments or any number of compartments. Furthermore, the compartments may be removeable in some examples. For example, a compartment may be removable such that the user can lift the compartment out of the tray member 500 for use and then return the compartment to the tray member 500 for storage.
[0053] The pop-up member 400 comprises a mirrored surface. In the presently described example, the mirrored surface is a glass mirror 410. The glass mirror 410 is secured to a bottom layer 420 by adhesive in the presently described example. It will be appreciated that in other examples the mirror 410 may be plastic or acrylic or another suitable material. Furthermore, in other examples the mirror 410 may be secured to the bottom layer 420 by another fastening means. The box 1 is moveable between a stowed configuration (shown in Figures

In use, to open the box 1 , the user pulls the pull portion 510 of the tray member 500 thereby moving the box 1 to the first open configuration shown in Figure 4. If the user pulls the tray member 500 further, a portion of the pop-up member 400 rotates to a tilted position, as shown in Figure 5. The portion that is arranged to rotate comprises the mirror 410, such that the mirror 410 is tilted into a position where the user can use the mirror 410 when applying products from the tray member 500.
[0055] The internal arrangement provided to allow automatic tilting of the mirror 410 in the second open configuration is now explained firstly with reference to Figures 6 to 8. The tubular sleeve 100 has been excluded from Figures 6 to 8 such that the internal arrangement can be discussed. The belt 300 extends around the planar divider 200 in a continuous loop. Although not shown in the presently described example, the belt 300 may be seated within a cut-out in the side of the planar divider 200, with the cut-out being slightly wider than the belt 300. If required a cut-out can be formed on each side of the divider 200, so that the belt 300 is set back from the edges of the tubular sleeve and cannot be seen in normal use of the box 1 .

The bottom layer 420 comprises a forward portion 421 and an attachment portion 422. The mirror 410 is attached to the forward portion 421 . The living hinge 423 is formed in the presently described example by a weakening of a strip of material across the bottom layer 420. As previously discussed, the mirror 410 is tilted forwards by the forward portion 421 rotating relative to the attachment portion 422 around the hinge 423, as is now explained in further detail.
[0065] Referring to Figures 10 and 11 , when the tray member 500 is pulled further from the first open configuration, the first catch 120 and second catch 430 engage. In the presently described example the second catch 430 is attached to the mirror 410 in the forward portion 421 of the pop-up member 400. It will be understood that in other examples the second catch 430 may be integrally formed with the mirror 410 or another component of the forward portion 421 . Regardless of the connection or integral formation, the second catch 430 is attached to the forward portion 421 such that when the first 120 and second 430 catches engage, the first catch 120 arrests the forward movement of the second catch 430, thereby causing the forward portion 421 to rotate relative to the attachment portion 422 when the attachment portion 422 is still driven forward by attachment to the belt 300 and the tray member 500 being further pulled from the tubular sleeve 100 in direction A. Said another way, as can be seen most clearly in Figures 10 and 11 , the attachment portion 422 is driven forwards by the belt 300 while the second catch 430 becomes caught on the first catch 120, thereby causing the forward portion 421 , which the second catch 430 is attached to, to rotate around the hinge 423 relative to the attachment portion 422.
[0066] The described arrangement thereby provides that as the tray member 500 is moved out of the lower passage 112 in the A direction, the pop-up member 400 moves out of the upper passage 111 in the B direction opposite to the A direction, and the first 120 and second 430 catches engage such that the forward portion 421 is rotated around the hinge 423 relative to the attachment portion 422. A further partially exploded view is provided in Figure 12, to aid the reader in understanding the arrangement and connection of components as described above.

[0068] Referring again to Figure 6 and to Figure 13, a convenient feature of the above-described arrangement is that the belt 300 may provide sealing closure of the compartments. In some examples, the compartments may comprise powdered products, such as make-up. In such examples, it is particularly advantageous that the belt 300 may seal the compartments closed or provide at least partial sealing of the compartments. In the schematic representation in Figure 13, the attachment of the belt 300 to the tray member 500 has been exaggerated for representation purposes. It will be understood that the belt 300 may lie directly against the tray member 500 in use. The belt 300 may be at least as wide as the compartments 521 , 522, 523 such that when the box 1 is returned to the stowed configuration, the belt 300 entirely covers, and thereby seals or partially seals, the compartments 521 , 522, 523, thereby ensuring that powdered products do not leak from the compartments 521 , 522, 523 when the box 1 is stowed. Leaked make-up powder, or other powdered products, is particularly undesirable and inconvenient for the user. For completeness, the box 1 is shown in the second open configuration in

[0070] Referring now to Figure 15, the box 1 is shown with further optional features. The bottom surface 104 comprises a third catch 130 which when assembled with the internal components of the box 1 protrudes into the through- passage 110 (not shown in Figure 15). The tray member 500 comprises a fourth catch 520 protruding from a bottom surface 501 of the tray member 500. The third 130 and fourth 430 catches are at opposite ends of the box 1 . The third 130 and fourth 430 catches are registered such that they will engage and stop overpulling of the tray member 500 by the user.
[0071] Still referring to Figure 15, the first catch 120 is provided with an optional mirror cleaning material 121 provided on a face of the first catch 120 such that when assembled with the internal components of the box 1 , the mirror cleaning material 121 will be in contact with the mirror 410 as the pop-up member 400 moves out of or into the through-passage 110. In the presently described example, the mirror cleaning material 121 is a strip of felt. In some alternative examples the mirror cleaning material 121 may comprise a recyclable material such as, but not limited to, woven paper. Still referring to Figure 15, the tray member 500 is provided with optional apertures 52T, 522’, 523’. As previously discussed, the compartments 521 , 522, 523 may be removeable. For example, a compartment 521 , 522, 523 may be removable such that the user can lift or push the compartment 521 , 522, 523 out of the tray member 500 for use, refilling or replacement and then return the compartment 521 , 522, 523 (or a new or different compartment) to the tray member 500 for storage. The apertures 52V, 522’, 523’ extend through the depth of the tray member 500 thereby allowing the compartments 521 , 522, 523 to be inserted into the tray member 500. It will be understood that the tray member 500 may be configured with suitable receiving means registered with the compartments 521 , 522, 523 to be inserted into the apertures 52V, 522’, 523’ such that the compartments 521 , 522, 523 can be securely held within the apertures 52V, 522’, 523’ in use. In this way, the compartments 521 , 522, 523 may be easily replaced when for example the make-up product contained therein is empty or it is desired to install an alternative make-up product in the tray member 500. The user may, for example, use a thumb and a finger to push the compartments 521 , 522, 523 through the apertures 52V, 522’, 523’. It will be understood that when in the stowed configuration, the apertures 52V, 522’, 523’ are covered by the tubular sleeve 100 such that the compartments 521 , 522, 523 cannot be accidentally removed from the box 1 during storage or transportation of the box 1 . Furthermore, the tubular sleeve 100 covering the apertures 52 T, 522’, 523’, and therefore also the underside of each compartment 521 , 522, 523, may provide the advantage of stopping dirt from clogging around the apertures and compartments, thereby making the compartments 521 , 522, 523 difficult to remove from the tray member 500 when desired.

CLAIMS1. A box (1 ) comprising: a generally tubular sleeve (100) defining a through passage (110) and comprising a first catch (120) projecting into the through passage (110); a planar divider (200) extending across said passage (110); a belt (300) extending around said divider (200) in a continuous loop; a pop-up member (400) extending into the passage (110) and comprising: an attachment portion (422) attached to the belt (300); a forward portion (421 ) comprising: a mirrored surface (410); and a second catch (430) arranged to engage with the first catch (120) in use; and a hinge (423) located between the attachment portion (422) and the forward portion (421 ) such that the forward portion (421 ) can rotate in use relative to the attachment portion (422); and a tray member (500) attached to the belt (300) and extending into the passage (110); such that as the tray member (500) is moved out of the passage (110) in a first direction (A) in use the pop-up member (400) moves out of the passage (110) in a second direction (B) opposite to the first direction (A) and the first (120) and second (430) catches engage such that the forward portion (421 ) isrotated around the hinge (423) relative to the attachment portion (422); and as the tray member (500) is moved into the passage (110) in the second direction (B) in use the pop-up member (400) moves into the passage (110) in the first direction (A).
2. The box (1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the tray member (500) comprises at least one storage compartment (521 , 522, 523) for storing a product therein.

The box (1 ) according to claim 2, wherein the box (1 ) is moveable between a stowed configuration and an open configuration, wherein in the stowed configuration the storage compartment (521 , 522, 523) is entirely within the tubular sleeve (100) and in the open configuration the storage compartment (521 , 522, 523) is at least partially out with the tubular sleeve (100).
4. The box according to claim 2 or 3 comprising a cosmetic product or ophthalmic product or dermatological product located within the at least one storage compartment.
5. The box (1 ) according to any of claims 2 to 4, wherein the at least one storage compartment (521 , 522, 523) is configured to be closed by the belt (300) as the tray member (500) is moved into the passage (110) inthe second direction (B).
6. The box (1 ) according to any preceding claim, wherein the generally tubular sleeve (100) comprises a third catch (130) projecting into the through passage (110) and the tray (500) comprises a fourth catch (520) arranged to engage with the third catch (130) in use such that as the tray member (500) is moved out of the passage (110) in a first direction (A) the third (130) and fourth (520) catches engage to arrest the movement of the tray (500) within the generally tubular sleeve (100).
7. The box (1 ) according to any preceding claim, wherein the hinge (423) is a living hinge.
8. The box (1 ) according to any preceding claim, wherein the first catch (120) comprises a mirror cleaning portion (121 ), wherein the mirror cleaning portion (121 ) is configured to engage the mirrored surface (410) as the pop-up member (400) is moved into and / or out of the passage (110).
9. The box (1 ) according to claim 8, wherein the mirror cleaning portion (121 ) comprises felt.
10. The box (1 ) according to any preceding claim, wherein the forward portion(421 ) comprises a bottom layer attached to the hinge (423) and a mirror(410) glued to the bottom layer (420).
