Description

Title of the invention: Parasol stand

[0001] The field of the invention is that of the design and manufacture of outdoor furniture.

[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to a parasol support.

[0003] Parasol supports allow a parasol to be held in position for use.

[0004] To ensure that the parasol holds in place in the wind, the parasol supports include generally take a base intended to be weighted.

[0005] The base then takes the form of a reservoir intended to be filled with sand, water or gravel.

[0006] However, when the base is weighted, that is to say filled, it is difficult to move it.

[0007] To allow the support to be moved, it is therefore necessary to empty it and then fill it again once repositioned.

[0008] These operations are therefore long and tedious.

[0009] To avoid this, some supports include housings for receiving weighted slabs.

[0010] However, handling weighted slabs is not easy and can cause injuries, particularly back pain linked to poor posture when handling them.

[0011] Another solution is to make the parasol support from a heavy material, such as steel, to make it self-stable.

[0012] However, such parasol supports are then heavy, which prevents them from being easily moved and generally requires them to be left in place.

[0013] This then results in poor quality shading as the sun moves, and a risk of premature deterioration of the support due to weather conditions, particularly in the event of wind and rain.

[0014] The invention aims in particular to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art.

[0015] More specifically, the invention aims to propose a parasol support which is light and does not need to be weighted to ensure its stability.

[0016] The invention also aims to provide such a parasol support which is simple to design and manufacture.

[0017] The invention further aims to provide such a parasol support which can be secured simply and quickly to a ground.

[0018] These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved thanks to the invention which relates to a plastic support for a parasol, comprising: - a base; - a cone extending from the base and tapering in one direction opposite the base; - a guide sleeve for a parasol base, extending at least partially into the cone, characterized in that the support also comprises a flange secured to the cone, the flange cooperating with one end of the sheath located in the cone to hold the sheath relative to the cone, and in that the base forms a collar extending radially relative to the cone, the base having at least three openings intended to be crossed by means for anchoring the support in a ground.

[0019] Such a parasol support makes it possible to hold a parasol securely in the position of use, while being easily transportable.

[0020] Indeed, the presence of the lights allows the use of anchoring means to maintain the parasol support on the ground.

[0021] Furthermore, the cone allows the support to hold well when it is pushed into sand.

[0022] This is explained by the fact that the deeper the support is buried in the sand, the more surface area it offers to the sand. Therefore, it is necessary to dig around the support to remove it from the sand, as the force of the wind blowing into the parasol alone is not enough to free the support from the sand.

[0023] Furthermore, the use of a plastic material promotes easy transport of the support.

[0024] Plastic offers a good compromise between mechanical resistance and lightness.

[0025] According to an advantageous aspect, the flange has a barrel for receiving the sheath.

[0026] The receiving barrel of the sheath ensures that the parasol remains vertically held by relation to a ground.

[0027] Therefore, it is not necessary to wedge the parasol in relation to its support as can often be the case with existing supports.

[0028] According to a first advantageous embodiment, the sheath is force-fitted into the barrel.

[0029] This assembly guarantees the solidity of the support and ensures an identical configuration of the support for each use.

[0030] According to a second advantageous embodiment, the barrel has a thread, and the sheath has an external thread intended to cooperate with the thread of the barrel to hold the sheath relative to the cone.

[0031] The threading and tapping allow the support to be dismantled to reduce its size for storage.

[0032] Furthermore, this can make it possible to replace the sheath present on the support with a sheath specially adapted to a particular parasol.

[0033] In other words, the screwing cooperation of the sheath with the shaft makes it possible to adapt the support to different sizes of parasols.

[0034] According to a third advantageous embodiment, the flange, the cone and the sheath are assembled by gluing.

[0035] The bonding makes it possible to chemically bond the barrel and the sheath so that thermal differences between the sheath and the barrel do not allow separation by shrinkage of the sheath or expansion of the barrel, or on the contrary, breakage of the support by shrinkage of the barrel or expansion of the sheath.

[0036] According to another advantageous aspect, the base has a reinforced zone around each of the lights.

[0037] The reinforced areas ensure good mechanical resistance to the base against the forces exerted by the anchoring means to resist the forces of tearing off the support by the wind which rushes into the parasol.

[0038] According to another advantageous aspect, the sheath has a ring extending radially towards the outside of the sheath, and forming a stop for pushing the sheath into the cone.

[0039] This prevents the flange from being torn away from the cone when assembling the support.

[0040] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, given by way of illustrative and non-limiting example, and the appended drawings among which:

[0041] [Fig-1] [Fig.l] is a schematic perspective representation of a support of parasol, according to the invention, supporting a parasol;

[0042] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a schematic perspective representation of a support of parasol, according to the invention;

[0043] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a schematic cross-sectional representation of a parasol support, according to the invention;

[0044] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] is a schematic side representation of a parasol stand, according to the invention, the support being partially buried in a ground.

[0045] [Fig.l] illustrates a support 1 for a parasol 2, according to the invention.

[0046] The support 1 is made of a plastic material giving it a good compromise between mechanical strength and lightness. By way of non-limiting example, the plastic material is PVC.

[0047] The support 1 comprises: - a base 3; - a cone 4 extending from the base 3; - a sheath 5, and - a flange 6 secured to the cone 4.

[0048] As illustrated by [Fig.2] to 4, the cone 4 tapers in one direction opposite base 3.

[0049] As illustrated by the cross-sectional view of [Fig. 3], the sheath 5, intended to allow the guidance of a foot of the parasol 2, extends at least partially into the cone 4.

[0050] The flange 6 is located in the cone 4 and is intended to cooperate with one end of the sheath 5, located in the cone 4, to hold the sheath 5 relative to the cone 4.

[0051] More precisely, the flange 6 has a barrel 7 for receiving the sheath 5.

[0052] The barrel 7 is connected to the cone 4 via a disc 8. The disc 8 may have several cutouts so as to create a plurality of arms connecting the barrel 7 to the cone 4.

[0053] According to a first embodiment, the sheath 5 is force-fitted into the barrel 7.

[0054] According to a second embodiment, the barrel 7 has a thread, and the sheath 5 has an external thread intended to cooperate with the thread of the barrel 7.

[0055] According to a third embodiment, the barrel 7 of the flange 8 and the sheath 5 are assembled by gluing.

[0056] The barrel 7 also has a lower shoulder E forming a stop for pushing in the sheath 5 and a parasol base 2.

[0057] To prevent it from transmitting excessive forces to the flange 6, at the risk of separating the flange from the cone 4, the sheath carries a ring 51 extending radially towards the outside of the sheath 5.

[0058] The ring 51 thus forms a stop for pushing the sheath 5 into the cone 4.

[0059] The ring 51 can either be made in one piece with the sheath 5, i.e. in one piece with the sheath 5, or is attached and glued to the sheath 5.

[0060] With reference to figures 1 to 3, the base 3 forms a collar extending radially relative to the cone 4.

[0061] The base 3 has at least three through lights 9.

[0062] As illustrated by [Fig.3], the lights 9 are intended to be crossed by anchoring means 10 of the support 1 in a ground.

[0063] By way of example, the anchoring means 10 are stakes, commonly called “sardines”, or, as illustrated by [Fig. 3] piles having a gripping portion and a point to be driven into the ground.

[0064] In order to avoid breaking at the level of the lights 9, the base 3 has reinforced zones 31.

[0065] These reinforced zones are thus located around the lights 9.

[0066] The reinforced zones 31 are notably obtained by localized addition of material plastic on the base 3 around the lights 9, or by gluing a rigid part on the base 3, the rigid part then being pierced to allow the passage of the anchoring means 10.

[0067] As can be seen in the cross-sectional view of [Fig. 3], the base thus has reinforced zones 31 separated from each other by cavities 32 made in the base 3. These cavities 32 also make it possible to reduce the quantity of material necessary for the manufacture of the support 1, to the benefit of its cost and its lightness.

[0068] As illustrated by Figures 2 to 4, the support also comprises a sleeve 11 mounted at one end of the sheath 5, located outside the cone 4.

[0069] This sleeve 11 makes it possible to hold the base of the parasol 2 in the sheath 5.

[0070] For this, the sleeve 11 can, for example, cause the sheath 5 to be crushed on the base of the parasol 2.

[0071] Alternatively, the sleeve 11 may incorporate elastically deformable retaining means which exert pressure on the base of the parasol 2 to retain it.

[0072] With reference to [Fig.4], the support 1 can easily be buried instead of being held by the anchoring means 10.

[0073] For this, a part of the cone 4 can be located under a level N of the ground S so that the medium constituting the ground S exerts pressure on the support 1, as illustrated by the arrows F of [Fig.4].

[0074] Thanks to the shape of the cone 4, the surface on which the ground S exerts pressure is large enough to ensure the holding of a parasol 2 without requiring the support 1 to be completely buried.

[0075] Furthermore, the pressure of the ground S on the support 1 is directed towards the centre of the support 1, which promotes the vertical maintenance of the parasol 2.

[0076] According to one embodiment, all the elements of the support 1 are mounted definitively, that is to say in a non-removable manner.

[0077] For example, the flange 6, the cone 4 and the sheath 5 are assembled by gluing, using a high-strength glue.

[0078] Thanks to the use of a plastic material, and its shape, the support 1 has a contained weight of 1.5 kg for a height of 30 cm, a width of 21.5 cm and a depth of 21.5 cm.
