Description

Title of the invention: Electrical machine comprising an optimized seal TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The technical field of the invention is that of fluid-cooled rotating electrical machines, such as an alternator-starter or a reversible machine or an electric motor for a self-propelled mobile device.

[0002] In the following, by self-propelled mobile device is meant a vehicle for transporting goods or people, which includes its traction system for moving such as the thermal or electric engine of a car, truck, bicycle or an object which moves with its traction system such as a drone. Such a self-propelled mobile device may further include autonomous driving.

[0003] The present invention relates to sealing at the interconnector where stator phase outputs are connected to a machine control unit. TECHNOLOGICAL BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] Rotating electrical machines comprise a stator, a rotor which in operation generate a large quantity of heat.

[0005] The stator comprises a stack of laminations provided with notches equipped with notch insulators for mounting the stator winding. The winding comprises a plurality of phase windings inserted into the notches of the stack of laminations and are obtained for example from a continuous wire covered with enamel or from bar-shaped conductive elements, such as U- or I-shaped pins. These phase windings are for example three-phase windings which are connected in star or delta, the phase outputs of which are connected via an interconnector to power electronics. The ends of each phase, each called "phase output", are connected to a connection end of an electrical connector which is also called trace, of the interconnector to connect them to power electronics or to each other to form a neutral.

[0006] When a current flows through the windings, this causes heat due to the resistance of each coil of the winding, called the Joule effect or Joule losses. Generally speaking, the more power (electrical or mechanical) the electrical machine contains, the more heat the windings produce.

[0007] The rotor may comprise magnets, the rotor being surrounded by the stator, each magnet heats up under the effect of the temperature of the stator which also affects the performance of the magnets.

[0008] To avoid excessive heating of the stator coil and rotor magnets, it is known for liquid-cooled electrical machines to increase cooling efficiency to improve the efficiency and maximum mechanical power of the machine by a liquid, such as oil or glycol water having better heat transfer flowing around the stator to cool it. However, these machines require a complex and expensive hydraulic circuit, this is particularly due to the sealing problems linked to the expansion and vibrations of these machines.

[0009] For example, electrical machines are known in which the rotor and the stator are immersed in the coolant. The continuous wire or the bar-shaped conductive elements comprise an insulator in the stator, but the connection area between the ends of the phase outputs connected by soldering to the connection ends of the traces of the interconnector need to be stripped before soldering. It is therefore necessary to seal this connection area against the coolant which could cause short circuits and / or corrosion of its phase outputs as well as the connection ends.

[0010] It is then known by the applicant to produce a sealed connection housing, hereinafter called a connection housing, for each connection zone by using a flexible membrane closing an opening of the bearing crossed by a phase output forming the bottom of the sealed connection housing. The interconnector comprises a body overmolding the trace sandwiching the flexible membrane with the bearing. The body of the interconnector comprises an opening of the connection housing through which the connection end exits. The connection housing therefore houses the connection zone comprising the stripped portion of the phase output and the connection end and the solder. The solder is preferably carried out before forming an outline of the connection housing to simplify the soldering process and avoid damaging the outline of this housing. After soldering, the connection housing includes a reservoir mounted on the body of the interconnector, forming the contour by surrounding the connection area which is filled with resin to prevent the coolant from coming into contact with the connection area. This resin is therefore inserted in a liquid state into the sealed connection housing and then hardens, thus sealing the connection area in the connection housing.

[0011] However, such a connection housing carries risks of leakage of the resin when it is in the liquid state towards the outside of the housing.

[0012] In particular, leaks of the resin in the liquid state may occur between the opening of the flexible membrane and the phase outlet passing through this opening due, for example, to vibrations and / or changes in position of the phase outlet relative to the membrane during movement of the assembly with the stator having the connection housing filled with resin in the liquid state.

[0013] Furthermore, in the case of a phase output of a hard wire winding, for example a pin, if the opening of the membrane is not perfectly aligned with the phase output passing through it, there is a risk of the membrane gaping, modifying the shape of the opening and therefore of leakage through this modification.

[0014] The resin coming out of the connection housing will harden and can cause significant damage to the electrical machine. For example, if the resin passes through the opening of the membrane by licking the phase output, it can fall into the air gap and harden, causing the rotor to jam. The resin can also fall and harden in an inlet or outlet of the coolant circuit, which can prevent or reduce the circulation of the coolant in the electrical machine.

[0015] There is therefore a need to have a simpler connection housing for assembly while reducing the risk of leakage of the resin when it is in the liquid state.

[0016] The invention aims to provide a rotating electrical machine with improved cooling without increasing the space required for the cooling chamber. Summary of the invention

[0017] The invention offers a solution to the problems mentioned above, by making it possible to have a seal crossed by a phase outlet making it possible to ensure sealing between this phase outlet and the seal while leaving freedom of movement of the phase outlet relative to the seal.

[0018] The present invention thus aims to propose a rotating electrical machine comprising: • a rotation axis stator comprising phase outputs, • an interconnector having a body comprising at least one opening of connection housing passing through the body, • a seal mounted on the interconnector comprising: • a partition wall partially closing the connection housing opening, and • at least one flexible sealing grommet of a phase output, the sealing grommet extending from the partition wall, towards the connection housing opening, the grommet comprising: • a chimney extending towards the connection housing opening, • a phase outlet sealing opening passing through the chimney for the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet into the connection housing opening, said sealing opening extending between an inlet and a exit,

[0019] in which the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet, a concave shape.

[0020] Thanks to the invention, the concave shape of the sealing opening thus provided makes it possible to counterbalance a gap caused by the insertion of the phase outlet and to maximize the contact after insertion of the phase outlet between the seal and the phase outlet. The risk of leakage through the sealing opening produced by the phase outlet during its insertion is thus reduced.

[0021] In the description and the claims, the terms "external" and "internal" as well as the orientations "axial" and "radial" will be used to designate, according to the definitions given in the description, elements of the rotor, the stator and / or the electrical machine. By convention, the "radial" orientation is directed orthogonally to the axial orientation. The axial orientation relates, depending on the context, to the axis of rotation of the rotor, the stator and / or the electrical machine. The "circumferential" orientation is directed orthogonally to the axial direction and orthogonally to the radial direction. The terms "external, exterior" and "internal, interior" are used to define the relative position of one element with respect to another, with respect to the reference axis, an element close to the axis is thus qualified as internal as opposed to an external element located radially on the periphery.

[0022] Advantageously, at least two sides of the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening are concave. Preferably, said sides are the largest sides of the opening.

[0023] Advantageously, the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening have a rectangular shape with rounded corners and at least two sides of the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening are concave.

[0024] Advantageously, the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet, a respective minimum width measured in the middle of the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening. Preferably, the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening have an axis of symmetry.

[0025] Preferably, the middle of the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening coincides with the axis of symmetry of said inlet and / or outlet. The minimum width corresponds to the smallest distance that exists between a point arranged on one side of the inlet and / or outlet and the point facing it on the other respective side.

[0026] Advantageously, the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet, a respective maximum width and in that the ratio of the minimum width to the maximum width of the inlet and / or outlet is between 0.75 and 0.95.

[0027] Advantageously, the corresponding phase output has a section of width measured inside the sealing opening and in that the ratio of the minimum width of the inlet of the sealing opening to the width of the phase outlet is between 0.4 and 0.9, preferably between 0.5 and 0.75.

[0028] Advantageously, the minimum width of the inlet is greater than the minimum width of the outlet of the sealing opening. When the seal mounted on the interconnector is sandwiched and compressed between the interconnector and a support body such as the rear bearing of the electrical machine, there may be a deformation of the chimney at the outlet which causes a gap and therefore a risk of leakage. Having a smaller width at this level makes it possible to counterbalance this deformation.

[0029] Advantageously: • the inlet of the sealing opening has, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet, a first length measured in the middle of the inlet of the sealing opening, • the corresponding phase output has a length section, said length being measured inside the sealing opening,

[0030] the ratio of the first length to the length of the phase output is between 0.65 and 0.9, preferably between 0.7 and 0.8.

[0031] Advantageously, the chimney comprises at least one internal lip extending towards and around the sealing opening to deform and seal the sealing opening by being in contact with the phase outlets. The lips make it possible to reduce the risks of leakage in the sealing opening by deforming during insertion of the phase outlet, also making up for the dimensional tolerances of the phase outlets.

[0032] Advantageously, the sealing opening comprises an axis for inserting a phase outlet towards the opening of the connection housing, and in that the number of internal lips all around the sealing opening for coming into contact with the phase outlets is greater than or equal to two and in that said internal lips are located one after the other in the direction of insertion all along the sealing opening in the chimney. This makes it possible to reduce the risk of leakage.

[0033] Advantageously, the closer an internal lip is arranged axially to the inlet of the sealing opening relative to another internal lip, the less it extends into the sealing opening. Thus, the closer a lip is arranged axially to the inlet, the greater the distance separating two opposite edges of the same lip will be.

[0034] According to one aspect of the invention, the rotating electrical machine consists of an alternator, an alternator-starter, a reversible machine or an electric motor.

[0035] The invention will be better understood upon reading the following description and upon examining accompanying figures. These figures are given only for illustrative purposes but in no way limit the invention.

[0038] [Fig.3] represents a perspective view of the interconnector and the joint of the machine of [Fig.l].

[0039] [Fig.4] represents a top and perspective view of the visible sealing gasket on [Fig.2].

[0040] [Fig.5] represents the inlet or outlet of the sealing opening before insertion of a phase.

[0041] [Fig.6] represents the section of a phase output along a plane orthogonal to the axis.

[0042] [Fig.7] is a sectional view of the sealing opening according to the first method of realization of [Fig.2].

[0043] [Fig.8] is a sectional view of the sealing opening according to a second mode of realization.

[0044] Identical, similar or analogous elements retain the same reference from one figure to another.

[0045] [Fig.l] represents a rotating electrical machine M comprising a polyphase stator S of axis X with a stator body surrounding a rotor R (visible in [Fig.2]) mounted on a shaft. The stator S of the machine M surrounds the rotor R with the presence of an air gap on the internal periphery of the stator S and the external periphery of the rotor R. The electrical machine M is cooled by a cooling liquid.

[0046] The rotating electrical machine M may be intended to be coupled to a gearbox belonging to a traction chain of a mobile device with hybrid or electric self-propulsion. The rotating electrical machine M is then capable of operating in an alternator mode to supply energy in particular to the battery and to the on-board network of the vehicle, and in a motor mode, not only to ensure the starting of the thermal engine of the vehicle, but also to participate in the traction of the vehicle alone or in combination with the thermal engine.

[0047] The power of the machine M may be between 4kW and 50kW. Alternatively, the electric machine M may be installed on an axle of the motor vehicle, in particular a rear axle. In the example considered, the electric machine M advantageously has an operating voltage of less than 60 Volts, and preferably 48 Volts. Typically, the torque supplied by the electric machine is between 30N.m and 150N.m. Alternatively, the electric machine 10 may have an operating voltage of more than 60V, or even more than 80V or more than 100V, especially 300V or more.

[0048] The rotating electrical machine further comprises an interconnector 1 which is preferably mounted on a rear bearing 2 of the machine. The interconnector 1 makes it possible to connect phase outputs 4 of a winding of the electrical machine M to power electronics, such as an inverter.

[0049] The interconnector 1 comprises reservoirs 5 (three out of six reservoirs are visible in [Fig.l]) intended to receive resin to seal the connection.

[0050] The interconnector 1 also comprises a body 10 comprising at least one connection housing opening 100 passing through the body 10. The connection housing opening 100 is also intended to be filled with resin. In this example, the body 10 comprises six connection housing openings 100 of which only three are visible in [Fig.l].

[0051] Furthermore, the interconnector 1 comprises connecting at least one conductor electrical 11 (visible in [Fig.2]) which is also called trace 11 to connect the phase outputs 4 to power electronics or to each other to form a neutral. Each trace 11 comprises at least one connection end 114 to be connected to a phase output 4 which can be a wire or a pin, of round or rectangular section.

[0052] The interconnector 1 comprises at least one trace 11 per phase comprising a connection end 114 for being connected to a phase output 4 and a connection output 115 intended to be connected to a power electronics connector. In this example the body of the interconnector 10 is overmolded on the traces 11 for two three-phase systems. There is therefore one connection trace per phase (here in this case 6 phases) for each connecting a phase output 4 to a power electronics connector intended to be connected to the six connection outputs 115.

[0053] In this example, the interconnector 1 comprises other traces 11 for making connections between phase outputs 4. In this example, the assembly of each three-phase system is in star. Here, there are two traces 11 for each neutral of a three-phase system connected together by a phase output 4 which is welded with and between two connection ends 114 of the two traces 11. We can see in [Fig.l], two connection ends 114 of two traces intended to be connected by a phase output 4 coming out of the connection housing opening 100 between the two other connection housing openings 100.

[0054] In the example considered, the interconnector 1 thus comprises three traces 11 for connecting a phase output 4 to one of the three connection outputs 115 per three-phase system and two traces for the neutral connection. The three connection ends 114 of these three traces 11 each come out of a connection housing opening 100 corresponding and are located radially closer to the center intended to be crossed by an axis than the four connection ends 114 of the neutral connection.

[0055] Of course, the interconnector could include fewer or more traces, for example it could include six traces per three-phase system whose phases are connected in a delta.

[0056] In this example, each connection end 114 exits the body 10 into the connection housing opening 100 and extends to be in a connection housing 500 (explained below) via its connection housing opening 100, three connection housings 500 of which are shown in [Fig.l] (shown in the other three connection housing openings 100 not visible in [Fig.l]).

[0057] Each connection housing 500 is formed in this embodiment, by a reservoir 5 intended to be mounted on the interconnector body 10 after welding between the phase output 4 and the connection end 114 to simplify the welding. However, according to another example, the reservoir 5 could directly form part of the body 10 (be in one piece).

[0058] Each reservoir 5 therefore comprises a volume forming the connection housing 500 extending the connection housing opening 100 to surround a weld between a phase output 4 of a winding of the electrical machine M and a connection end 114. This volume forming the connection housing 500 is, after the weld between the phase outputs 4 and the connection ends 114, filled with resin in a liquid state, which solidifies to a solid state. The resin is not shown in the figures to simplify the representation.

[0059] In this case, in this example, the interconnector 1 comprises two reservoir bodies 50 (only one is visible in [Fig.l]), comprising several reservoirs 5, but each reservoir 5 could be independent.

[0060] In this embodiment, each reservoir 5 comprises means for fixing to the interconnector body 10. In this case, in this example, the reservoir body 50 is glued to the interconnector 1. The interconnector body 10 comprises in this example indexing means 175 of the reservoir body 50. In this example the reservoir body 50 comprises notches corresponding to the indexing means, here each in the form of a stud housed in a notch.

[0061] The resin (not shown) filling the connection housing 500 remains fixed by passing into the solid state in the connection housing 500 and by surrounding the connection end 114, the weld and the phase outlet 4. Each reservoir 5 can further have its wall forming an undercut in the connection housing 500 to improve the fixing of the reservoir body 50 to the interconnector 1 by means of the solid state resin in this 500 connection housing.

[0062] Of course, other examples of fixing the reservoirs to the interconnector body 10 can be envisaged in this embodiment, such as for example by clipping.

[0063] The electrical machine M further comprises at least one seal 3 mounted on the interconnector 1. In this embodiment, the seal 3 is intended to be compressed between the interconnector 1 and the rear bearing of the electrical machine M. In this example, the machine comprises one seal 3 per three-phase system, i.e. here two seals 3.

[0064] According to another example not shown, the machine M may comprise only one seal 3 for the two three-phase systems or even one seal 3 per opening of the connection housing 100.

[0065] The seal 3 is shown in Figures 2 to 4. The seal comprises a separating wall 30 partially closing the connection housing opening 100.

[0066] The sealing joint 3 further comprises at least one flexible sealing grommet 34 of a phase output 4. In this example, the sealing joint 3 comprises as many grommets 34 as there are phase outputs 4 of the multiphase system to be connected, i.e. in this case six phase outputs. Each sealing grommet 34 extends from the separating wall 30, into the connection housing opening 100.

[0067] Each grommet 34 includes a chimney 341 extending into the connection housing opening 100, toward the connection ends 114.

[0068] Each grommet 34 comprises a phase outlet sealing opening 300 passing through the chimney 341 for the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4 into the connection housing opening 100.

[0069] Each sealing opening 300 extends between an inlet 301 and an outlet 302. The inlet and outlet 301, 302 therefore correspond to the ends of the opening 300. The inlet and outlet 301, 302 are included in a plane, in the example considered in a plane P orthogonal to the axis of rotation X.

[0070] The sealing joint 3 comprises a sealing face 32 facing the interconnector 1 and a bearing face 31 opposite the sealing face 32. The inlet of the sealing opening 301 is therefore arranged on the side of the bearing face 31 and the outlet of the sealing opening 302 on the side of the sealing face 32.

[0071] In [Fig. 5] the inlet 301 has been shown. [Fig. 5] can also be applied to the outlet 302, which is why the references of the inlet 301 and the outlet 302 have been indicated in this figure. The inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a concave shape.

[0072] The inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a respective minimum width lb 1 2 measured in the middle of the inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening. The widths lb 12 are measured before the insertion of the phase outlet 4 because when the phase outlet 4 is inserted into the opening 300, the latter deforms. The widths lb 12 correspond to the smallest distance that exists between a point arranged on one side of the inlet or the outlet and the point facing it on the respective other side.

[0073] In the example considered, the middle of the inlet and / or outlet of the sealing opening merges with an axis of symmetry of said inlet and / or outlet 301, 302.

[0074] The inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a respective maximum width 13, 14. Preferably, the ratio of the minimum width to the maximum width of the inlet 1 / 1 3 and / or the outlet 12 / 14 is between 0.75 and 0.95. In the example considered, the widths 13, 14 therefore correspond to the width of the respective smallest rectangle in which the inlet 301 and the outlet 302 are inscribed.

[0075] Preferably and as can be seen in [Fig.7] or 8, the minimum width h of the inlet 301 is greater than the minimum width 12 of the outlet 302 of the sealing opening.

[0076] The phase outlet 4 is shown in [Fig.6] and has a section of width 1 and length L. The width 1 and the length L are measured from a section of the phase outlet 4 which is located inside the sealing opening 300.

[0077] Preferably, the ratio of the minimum width of the inlet of the sealing opening to the width of the phase outlet 1 / 1, is between 0.4 and 0.9, preferably between 0.5 and 0.75.

[0078] The inlet of the sealing opening 301 has, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a first length Li measured in the middle of the inlet of the sealing opening 301.

[0079] Preferably, the ratio of the first length to the length of the phase output L / L is between 0.65 and 0.9, preferably between 0.7 and 0.8.

[0080] In the example considered in [Fig.5], two sides ab bb of the inlet 301 and / or two sides a2, b2, of the outlet 302 of the sealing opening are concave. As a variant or addition not shown, one or both other sides cb di and c2, d2, respectively of the inlet 301 and the outlet 302 are concave.

[0081] When one or both of the other sides cb di and c2, d2, respectively of the inlet 301 and the outlet 302 are concave, it is possible for those skilled in the art to transpose the ratios described previously for the widths to the lengths.

[0082] In this case, the inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening would have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a length respective minimum measured in the middle of the inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening.

[0083] The inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening would have, before the insertion of a corresponding phase outlet 4, a respective maximum length. The ratio of the minimum length to the maximum length of the inlet and / or outlet would also be between 0.75 and 0.95. The maximum lengths would correspond to the length of the respective smallest rectangle in which the inlet 301 and the outlet 302 would be inscribed.

[0084] According to another embodiment not shown, the minimum length of the inlet 301 may be greater than the minimum length of the outlet 302 of the sealing opening.

[0085] According to another embodiment not shown, the inlet 301 and / or the outlet 302 of the sealing opening have a square shape with rounded corners and at least two sides of the inlet and / or the outlet of the sealing opening are concave.

[0086] To further improve the sealing at this sealing opening 300, the chimney 341 comprises at least one lip 346 extending towards the sealing opening 300 to come into contact with the corresponding phase outlet 4. The at least one lip 346 extends all around the sealing opening 300 to deform and seal the sealing opening 300 while being in contact with the phase outlets 4. In this case, in the example of [Fig.8], the chimney 341 comprises three lips 346 but could have fewer or more. In this example, the chimney 341 comprises at least one lip 346 which extends close to the outlet of the sealing opening 302 on the side of the interconnector 10 to prevent resin from entering the sealing opening 300. The other two lips 346 are therefore a redundant sealing safety.

[0087] Optionally, the chimney 341 comprises the maximum number of lips 346 located one after the other in the direction of insertion along the entire length of the sealing opening 300. Here in this example, the maximum number is three but by producing a chimney having a longer opening, it is possible to have other lips 346.

[0088] The closer an inner lip 146 is arranged axially to the inlet of the sealing opening 301 relative to another inner lip 146, the less it extends into the sealing opening 300. In the example of [Fig. 8], the three lips 346 each preferentially form at their level a section of the sealing opening 300 having a different surface area. The surface area of the section of the sealing opening 300 will thus decrease when moving from the inlet 301 towards the outlet of the sealing opening 302.

[0089] We will now present in Table 1 below, a comparative example of a reference machine (Mref) comprising a standard seal, that is to say a seal in which the inlet and the outlet have a rectangular shape and a machine comprising a seal according to the present invention (MJ.

[0090] [Tables 1] Tank Improvement Radial displacement (in mm) N°6 1.01 2.52 1.51 1.62 386 2.24 Orthoradial displacement (in mm) bL6 1.46 3.16 1.7 N*1 2.16 4 1.84

[0091] The measurements listed in Table 1 for Mrefet Mi correspond to the maximum radial (i.e., along the length of the phase outlet) and orthoradial (i.e., along the width of the phase outlet) displacements relative to the phase outlet insertion axis, measured in millimeters when a leak is detected. Thus, the higher the displacement value, the more the seal is able to be deformed and / or displaced before a leak appears.

[0092] Each machine comprises six tanks 5 (three tanks 5 appearing for example in [Fig.l]). The displacement measurements were taken on tanks No. 1, 2 and 6 and repeated six times for each tank of each machine. The measurements listed in Table 1 for Mrefet Mi therefore correspond to the average measurement of the six measurements.

[0093] Compared to the initial machine, the machine according to the present invention Mi has made it possible to reduce the risk of leakage by allowing greater movement of the wire guide before the appearance of a leak and a better adjustment to the phase outlet / sealing opening interface.

[0094] Of course, the preceding description has been given by way of example only and does not limit the scope of the invention, which would not be exceeded by replacing the various elements with any other equivalents.

[0095] Furthermore, the various features, variations, and / or embodiments of the present invention may be combined with each other in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive.
