Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Swimming pool water filter
[0001] The present invention relates to a water filter for swimming pools of the type which uses polyethylene fiber beads as the water filtering medium. Background of the invention
[0002] Recently, swimming pool water filters have been introduced onto the market that use polyethylene fiber balls as a water filtering agent, which are particularly easy to install and use. They are more efficient than traditional cartridge or sand filters, as they require less maintenance, the load can guarantee filtration throughout the summer season and they filter small particles. In addition, these filters are more compact products and the filter medium is lighter and easier to handle, making them an ideal solution for small and medium-sized swimming pools. In addition, the filter balls can be machine washed when dirty.
[0003] However, if the same filter media container configuration is used as with traditional filters, a water pump of greater power than that used by traditional filters is required to ensure adequate water flow. Description of the invention
[0004] The objective of this invention is to provide a water filter for swimming pools capable of filtering waste contained in the water of a swimming pool using polyethylene fiber balls, the water pump necessary for its operation being of a lower power than that of the state of the art for filtering said residual medium.
[0005] The present swimming pool water filter is of the type which uses polyethylene fiber beads as the water filter medium and comprises a container defined by a base, a substantially vertical peripheral wall, a cover, a water inlet and a water outlet.
[0006] The present water filter for swimming pools is characterized in that the inlet is located at the upper end of the peripheral wall of the container and the outlet is located at the lower end of the peripheral wall. This makes it possible to use all the possible potential energy that the water can acquire by descending through it, so that the kinetic energy that the corresponding pump must provide is reduced, thus reducing its necessary power.
[0007] Preferably, the container comprises inside a removable basket provided with a folding handle, adapted to accommodate the polyethylene fiber balls and able to easily remove them if they need to be cleaned. In addition, the reservoir is of the appropriate shape to accommodate the basket in a removable manner. Also preferably, the removable basket comprises an outwardly projecting horizontal rim located at its upper end, while the perimeter wall of the container comprises on its inner surface an inwardly projecting rim or edge, which is configured to support the horizontal rim and located at a height lower than that of the inlet. Thus, the inlet of water is not hindered, and the circulation of water is facilitated throughout the cross-section of the container, i.e. through all the balls. Also preferably, the removable basket comprises a perimeter wall whose height is less than the distance between the inlet and outlet of the container, so that the outlet of water is not hindered and its circulation towards the outlet is facilitated throughout the cross-section of the container.
[0008] Optionally, the filter includes a pressure gauge, located on the lid of the container. For its part, the lid may include a butterfly screw closing clamp, which allows the lid to be fixed to the container in an economical, simple and robust manner. Also optionally, the filter includes a stabilizing grid that can be placed inside the removable basket, suitable for stabilizing the polyethylene fiber balls.
[0009] In one possible embodiment, the filter comprises a support platform configured to support a corresponding water pump (which is not part of the present filter and which brings the water from the swimming pool to the inlet of the container). In one possible implementation, the container comprises a projection projecting from the lower end of the peripheral wall to the height of the base, and a support platform provided with a hole suitable for receiving the projection and configured to support a corresponding water pump. Optionally, the support platform may be configured to also support a pre-filter located upstream of the water pump, in order to filter out large debris. Brief description of the figures
[0010] [Fig. 1] is a perspective view of a second embodiment of the swimming pool water filter.
[0011] [Fig.2] is a perspective and exploded view of the embodiment of the swimming pool water filter.
[0012] Description of a preferred embodiment of the invention
[0013] Described below is an example of a preferred and non-limiting embodiment of the present swimming pool water filter, with reference to Figures 1 to 2.
[0014] As illustrated in [Fig.l], this embodiment of the swimming pool water filter comprises a container (1) adapted to contain polyethylene fiber beads, the container (1) being defined by: - a base (not visible in the figure), - a cover (10), - a substantially vertical peripheral wall (11), extending between the base and the cover (10), - a water inlet (12), and - a water outlet (13).
[0015] As can be seen, the inlet port (12) is located at the upper end of the perimeter wall (11) of the container (1) and the outlet port (13) is located at the lower end of the perimeter wall (11).
[0016] Furthermore, the container (1) of this embodiment comprises a projection (21) projecting from the lower end of the peripheral wall (11) to the height of the base, and a support platform (2) provided with a hole adapted to receive the projection (21). The support platform (2) is configured to support a corresponding water pump (not shown in the figure, as it is not part of the filter), which brings the water from the swimming pool to the inlet (12).
[0017] As can be seen in [Fig.2], the container (1) of this embodiment of the filter also comprises a removable basket (3) with a foldable handle, suitable for housing the polyethylene fiber balls. This removable basket (3) is provided with an outwardly projecting horizontal rim (31) located at its upper end, while the perimeter wall (11) of the container (1) comprises a rim or trim on its inner surface projecting inwards (not visible in the figure), which is configured to support the horizontal rim (31) and, furthermore, is located at a height lower than that of the inlet (12), so as not to hinder the entry of water. As for it, the height of the perimeter wall of the removable basket (3) is less than the distance between the inlet (12) and the outlet (13) of the container (1), so as not to hinder the exit of water.
[0018] This embodiment of the filter also comprises a pressure gauge (4) located on the lid (10) of the container (1). As for it, the lid (10) is closed by means of a shell-type clamp (5), that is to say it comprises two pieces which retain the corresponding tabs of the lid (10) and of the perimeter wall (11), and which are fixed by means of butterfly screws (51) at their ends. In addition, the filter comprises a stabilizing grid (6) which can be placed inside the removable basket (3), suitable for stabilizing the polyethylene fiber balls.
