Description

Title of the invention: CAULKING JOINT FOR SEALING EXTERIOR JOINERY Subject of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a caulking joint for sealing exterior joinery. Background to the invention

[0002] There are currently available caulking joints for sealing exterior joinery, comprising a base strip, means for fixing the base strip to the joinery, and sealing fibers fixed to the base strip and which protrude from its front face over the entire length thereof. These caulking joints are used to seal the space between the leaves of a sliding window, thus preventing the passage of air, moisture and noise.

[0003] However, the fibers lose their rigidity and flex over time, so that they no longer seal the woodwork properly and lose their insulating qualities.

[0004] To overcome these drawbacks, the applicant is the owner of utility model 202030127 relating to a caulking joint for sealing exterior joinery, comprising a base strip, means for fixing the base strip to the joinery, and sealing fibers fixed to the base strip and which protrude from its front face over the entire length thereof, and further comprising longitudinally arranged fiber reinforcing sheets, composed of outer lateral sheets arranged longitudinally on either side of the fibers, and intermediate sheets arranged longitudinally inside the fibers, the intermediate sheets comprising a central sheet and at least one additional sheet arranged between the central sheet and the corresponding outer lateral sheet, in order to obtain a caulking joint with the outer lateral walls formed by the lateral sheets, and internal stiffening elements formed by the intermediate sheets, which reinforce or maintain the rigidity and straightness of the fibers, so that they do not bend and lose their effectiveness, allowing to obtain caulking joints of considerable width.

[0005] In this weatherstripping joint, the existence of the outer side reinforcement sheets is fundamental because, as stated, these outer walls maintain the rigidity and straightness of the fibers so that they do not bend, especially the fibers that are adjacent to these side reinforcement sheets, as this can sometimes make it difficult to slide the weatherstripping joint and therefore to open or close the leaf. concerned. Description of the invention

[0006] The caulking joint for sealing exterior joinery of the invention is of a type comprising a base strip, means for fixing the base strip to the joinery, and sealing fibers fixed to the base strip and which protrude from its front face over the entire length thereof, also comprising longitudinally arranged fiber reinforcement sheets, composed of intermediate sheets arranged longitudinally inside the fibers with a central sheet and additional sheets arranged on either side of the central sheet, where, according to the invention, the additional sheets are arranged between the fibers, with sets of fibers remaining free outside the additional sheets.

[0007] With this configuration, it was found during testing that the leaf slid better, which was the initial objective, but surprisingly, the sealing was also increased by 30%, which is an additional advantage. Brief description of the drawings

[0009] [Fig.2]. - Shows a sectional view of the caulking joint of the invention mounted on a window or door leaf.

[0010] Description of the preferred embodiment

[0011] The caulking joint (1) for sealing exterior joinery (2) of the invention is of a type comprising a base strip (3), means for fixing the base strip (3) to the joinery (2), and sealing fibers (4) fixed to the base strip (3) and projecting from its front face over the entire length thereof, also comprising longitudinally arranged fiber reinforcement sheets (4), composed of intermediate sheets arranged longitudinally inside the fibers, with a central sheet (6) and additional sheets (7) arranged on either side of the central sheet, the additional sheets (7) being arranged between the fibers (4), leaving certain sets (40) of fibers free outside the additional sheets (7), which improves sliding and sealing.

[0012] The base strip (3) may be flexible or rigid. In addition, the fixing means may be adhesive parts arranged on the rear face of the strip and / or lateral projections (30) of the strip (3) intended to be inserted into the rails (20) of the joinery (2).

[0013] It is further provided that the base strip (3) comprises two side walls (31) emanating from its front face, between which the fibers (4) and the sheets (6, 7) are joined, the lateral projections (30) of the strip being defined outside said side walls (31).

[0014] Notwithstanding the foregoing, and given that the description given corresponds only to an example of a preferred embodiment of the invention, it will be understood that, in its essential nature, multiple variations of detail, also protected, may be introduced, which may affect the shape, dimensions or materials of manufacture of the whole or its parts, without resulting in any alteration of the invention as a whole, delimited only by the claims provided in the following.
