Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Covering device for gutter.
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of gutter cover devices and drainage systems comprising a gutter and a gutter cover device.
[0002] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Drainage systems for collecting water flowing over a floor are known and comprise a gutter covered with a gutter cover device which allows the passage of water from the floor to the gutter by passing through passages formed in the cover device.
[0004] The cover device allows the passage of water towards the gutter while preventing the passage of large waste towards the gutter.
[0005] In this way, the gutter cover device makes it possible to limit the risk of the gutter becoming blocked.
[0006] Some gutter cover devices include simple grates placed above the gutter.
[0007] Other gutter cover devices are of the type having:
[0008] - a longitudinal slot extending lengthwise, along a longitudinal direction of the cover device, the slot being formed on an upper side of the device; and - a first passage for conducting water flowing into the slot from the upper side of the cover device to a lower side of the cover device.
[0009] The first passage extends between an upper end of the first passage which is connected to the longitudinal slot and a lower end of the first passage which opens towards the gutter.
[0010] With this type of cover device, only a water collection slot is visible from above ground.
[0011] This slot allows for uniform collection of water flowing on the ground, along the entire length of the slot.
[0012] The slot provides greater homogeneity of water collection than a grid.
[0013] The slot also offers a capacity for separating large waste, which limits the risk of blockage inside the gutter.
[0014] This waste blocked by the slot remains accessible on the ground.
[0015] Furthermore, whereas in a gutter cover device having a grate there is a risk that the grate may be accidentally removed (e.g. by rolling a machine over the grate or during overflow of the gutter, or during human intervention), the gutter cover device having a slot is more robust.
[0016] Cleaning / cleaning gutters is often carried out using high pressure cleaners. pressure and it was found that pollutants present in the gutter can rise to the ground with the risk of dirtying and polluting it.
[0017] Such soiling / pollution must be treated after cleaning / cleaning the gutter, which increases the workload.
[0018] SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0019] An object of the present invention is to provide a gutter cover device that mitigates all or part of the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art. Summary of the invention
[0020] To this end, according to a first aspect, the invention relates to a gutter covering device having:
[0021] - a longitudinal slot extending lengthwise, along a longitudinal direction of the cover device, the slot being formed on an upper side of the device; and - a first passage for conducting water flowing into the slot from the upper side of the cover device to a lower side of the cover device, the first passage extending between an upper end of the first passage which is connected to the longitudinal slot and a lower end of the first passage.
[0022] The covering device according to this first aspect of the invention is essentially characterized in that it has a deflector arranged on the lower side of the covering device, the deflector extending opposite and at a distance from the lower end of the first passage, the deflector being adapted to form an obstacle to the passage of water projections towards the first passage when these projections are oriented towards the covering device by going from the lower side of the covering device towards the first passage.
[0023] Thanks to the deflector arranged opposite the lower end of the first passage and at a distance from this lower end of the first passage, that is to say under the lower end of the first passage, the device according to the invention: - allows the passage of water via the first passage to the lower side of the cover device, then to the gutter which is covered by the cover device; and - forms an obstacle to the passage of water projections directed / arriving towards the lower side of the device, in the direction of the lower end of the first passage.
[0024] The deflector forms an outer surface of the device which is located on the lower side of the device.
[0025] The lower end of the first passage which is located between the lower side of the device and the upper side of the device is thus masked by the deflector.
[0026] When cleaning / cleaning the gutter using a pressurized water spray nozzle moved in the gutter, the spray directed towards the lower side of the covering device, in the direction of the first passage, are stopped by the deflector.
[0027] As the deflector extends opposite the lower end of the first passage, it prevents the penetration into the first passage of projections or dirt carried by the pressurized water.
[0028] The covering device according to the invention allows an improvement in hygiene conditions during high-pressure cleaning of the gutter since it limits the risks: - blocking of the first passage or slot with dirt from the gutter; and - dirt rising to the floor via the slot.
[0029] Thanks to the device according to the invention, if effluents, such as water containing oils / hydrocarbons, are found in the gutter, they are practically not spread on the ground or vaporized into the atmosphere during cleaning / cleaning of the gutter by spraying water under pressure.
[0030] The maintenance of the gutter is thus greatly simplified and the hygiene and safety conditions during cleaning are improved.
[0031] According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a drainage system comprising: - a gutter comprising a conduit for guiding a flow of water in the gutter, the guide conduit extending lengthwise in a longitudinal direction of the gutter, the guide conduit having an upper lateral side open to open onto an upper face of the gutter; and - a gutter covering device according to any one of the embodiments of the covering device according to the invention described or claimed in the present patent application.
[0032] The cover device of the drainage system is supported by the gutter in such a way that the lower side of the cover device is oriented facing the guide conduit to cover the upper lateral side of the guide conduit of the gutter, the longitudinal direction of the cover device being parallel to the longitudinal direction of the gutter.
[0033] The drainage system according to the invention has the aforementioned advantages with reference to the covering device according to the invention. Brief description of the drawings

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0041] According to a first aspect, with reference to Figures 1 to 6, the invention relates to a covering device 1 for covering a guide conduit 21 of a flow formed in a gutter 2.
[0042] According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a drainage system 0 comprising: - the gutter 2 comprising the guide conduit 21 for a flow of water in the gutter 2; and
[0043] - a covering device 1 for the gutter 2 according to the first aspect of the invention, this device 1 being supported by the gutter 2 in such a way that a lower side 12 of the covering device 1 is oriented facing the guide duct 21 to cover an open upper lateral side of the guide duct 21.
[0044] As illustrated in Figures 1 to 6, the covering device 1 according to the invention has:
[0045] - a longitudinal slot 3 which extends lengthwise, along a longitudinal direction tudinal XI of the cover device 1, the slot 3 being arranged / formed on one side upper 11 of device 1; and
[0046] - a first passage 4 for conducting water flowing into the slot 3 from the upper side 11 of the cover device 1 to a lower side 12 of the cover device 1.
[0047] The first passage 4 extends between an upper end 41 of the first passage 4 which is fluidly and mechanically connected to the longitudinal slot 3 and a lower end 42 of the first passage 4.
[0048] The covering device 1 has a deflector 5 arranged on the lower side of the covering device 1.
[0049] This deflector 5 extends opposite and at a distance from the lower end 42 of the first passage 4 and below this lower end 42 of the first passage 4.
[0050] The deflector 5 is arranged and adapted to form an obstacle to the passage of water projections towards the first passage 4 when these projections are oriented towards the covering device 1 (i.e. from outside the device) going from the lower side of the covering device 1 towards the first passage 4.
[0051] The invention is particularly advantageous because it limits the risk of projections and / or dirt rising towards the passage 4 or towards the slot 3 from the lower side of the device 1.
[0052] Thus, during cleaning or cleaning operations of the gutter 2 using a high-pressure cleaning nozzle moved in the guide duct 21, the covering device 1 of the gutter 2 prevents projections or dirt from rising, via the first passage and the slot, to the level of the upper side of the device 1.
[0053] This makes the operation of cleaning / cleaning the gutter easier to carry out, less polluting for the surface of the ground S located at the level of the slot 3.
[0054] As understood from Figures 2 and 6 which illustrate the drainage system 0 according to the invention, the cover device 1 is carried by the gutter 2 so that the slot 3 and a major part of the first passage 4 is located above the gutter 2.
[0055] This covering device 1 covers a major part of the upper face of the gutter 2, preferably the entire upper surface of the gutter 2.
[0056] The guide conduit 21 which extends into the gutter 2 to guide the flow therein has an upper lateral side open to open onto an upper face of the gutter 2.
[0057] This guide conduit 21 extends lengthwise along the longitudinal direction X2 of the gutter 2 and the covering device is arranged so that the longitudinal direction XI of the device 1 is parallel to the longitudinal direction X2.
[0058] The slot 3 is here in line with one of the two longitudinal edges of the upper lateral side of the guide conduit 21 of the gutter 2, however, this slot 3 could extend directly above the middle of the upper lateral side of the guide duct 21 or at any other position directly above this guide duct 21.
[0059] The channel 2 comprises opposite side walls 2a, 2b which define lateral edges of the guide conduit 21 formed inside the channel 2.
[0060] These side walls 2a, 2b are parallel to each other and extend lengthwise along the longitudinal direction X2 of the gutter 2.
[0061] Preferably, the guide duct 21 comprises an inner surface for guiding the flow in the gutter 2 which is V-shaped when observed along a cross-sectional plane of the gutter (a cross-sectional plane of the gutter is a cutting plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X2).
[0062] The lower surface of the guide duct 21 is thus narrower, which makes it possible to obtain much higher flow speeds at the bottom of the duct 21 with improved cleaning of the duct 21.
[0063] The covering device 1 is arranged relative to the gutter 2 so that the deflector 5 of the covering device 1 extends at least partly between the opposite side walls 2a, 2b of the gutter 2.
[0064] Preferably, the deflector 5 extends lengthwise above the narrowest lower surface of the V-shaped guide duct 21.
[0065] Thus, when moving a cleaning / driving nozzle B in the gutter 2, the nozzle B slides along the narrowest lower zone of the guide duct 21 while remaining under the deflector 5.
[0066] This limits the risk of having projections through the slot 3 because the majority of these projections come against the deflector 5 and fall back into the guide duct 21.
[0067] As seen in [Fig.2], the drainage system 0 is intended to be implanted in the ground so that the upper surface S of the ground comes flush against upper rectilinear limits 3al, 3b 1 of edges 3a, 3b of the slot 3.
[0068] Thus, the drainage system 0 according to the invention is located under the surface S of the ground and only the slot 3 is visible.
[0069] When cleaning the gutter, the upper surface of the floor S is protected against the risk of soiling by waste coming from the gutter.
[0070] Preferably, as understood from [Fig.2], the deflector 5 extends over at least 40%, preferably over 60 to 90%, preferably over 60 to 80% of the largest dimension Dx measured in width in the guide duct 21. The width Dx is measured in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X2 of the gutter.
[0071] The covering device 1 is preferably made of metal, such as stainless steel or galvanized steel, while the gutter 2 is preferably made of concrete or polymer or in a composition comprising concrete and one or more polymers.
[0072] The gutter 2 can be in one or more parts.
[0073] In this case, as illustrated in [Fig.6], the channel 2 may comprise several longitudinal sections coming end to end with a male / female interlocking system at the longitudinal ends of the sections of the channel.
[0074] The installation of the channel is thus facilitated since the sections are arranged one after the other in a common longitudinal direction X2 and are connected to each other by specific male / female fittings.
[0075] The sealing of the guide duct is improved at the interface between the sections of the channel.
[0076] These longitudinal ends of the sections of the channel can optionally be glued together to improve the mechanical strength / stability of the channel and the sealing of the guide channel 21.
[0077] As understood from [Fig. 2], a longitudinal section of gutter may comprise a single-piece lower part defining the guide channel 21 between the side walls 2a, 2b and first and second head pieces respectively placed at the top of the side walls 2a, 2b. These first and second head pieces are each adapted to the shape of one of the longitudinal edges 101, 102 of the device 1.
[0078] The heads of the side walls 2a, 2b are here formed by longitudinal head pieces glued to the single-piece lower part of the gutter.
[0079] This single-piece lower part can be made of concrete while the head pieces forming the top of the side walls 2a, 2b can be made of metal or polymer material.
[0080] This is advantageous since the same type of single-piece lower part can be adapted to several types of covering devices, the choice of head parts allowing modularity.
[0081] As understood from Figures 1 to 6, the deflector 5 extends lengthwise along a longitudinal direction X5 of the deflector 5 which is parallel to the longitudinal direction XI of the device 1.
[0082] The length of deflector 5 is preferably between 90% and 100% of the length of slot 3, preferably the length of deflector 5 is equal to the length of slot 3.
[0083] In this way, almost the entire slot 3 is protected from the rise of waste / dirt from the gutter.
[0084] With a slot 3 and a deflector 5 which extend over the entire length L1 of the device, a series of several cover devices can be arranged to obtain continuity of water collection and protection.
[0085] The shape of the slot makes it possible to define a flow plane P3 through the slot 3.
[0086] This flow plan P3 contains: - on the one hand a longitudinal axis of the slot X3 which passes through longitudinal ends of the slot 3; and - on the other hand by a longitudinal axis of the first passage X4 which passes through the lower and upper ends 41, 42 of the first passage 4.
[0087] The longitudinal axis of the slot X3 is preferably parallel to the longitudinal direction XI of the device and intersects with the longitudinal axis X4 of the first passage 4 at a point which is located in the slot 3.
[0088] Preferably, the longitudinal axis of the slot X3 is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the first passage X4.
[0089] Preferably, the deflector 5 has at least one plate-shaped portion.
[0090] This portion of the plate-shaped deflector extends along a deflector plane P5 which intersects with said flow plane P3 through the slot 3.
[0091] The covering device 1 also comprises first and second lateral edges 101, 102 which extend on either side of the device 1.
[0092] Each of these lateral edges 101, 102 is parallel to the longitudinal direction XI of the device 1.
[0093] Each of the first and second lateral edges 101, 102 has a lower surface of its own, denoted 101a for the first edge 101 and 102a for the second edge 102.
[0094] The lower surfaces of the edges 101, 102 extend in the same main plane PO of the device 1, these lower surfaces being intended to define a support plane PO of the covering device 1 against upper edges of the opposite side walls 2a, 2b of the gutter.
[0095] As illustrated in [Fig.2], the deflector plane P5 intersects with the main plane PO in such a way that an upper part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector 5 is located above the main plane PO and a lower part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector 5 is located below the main plane PO.
[0096] The lower part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector 5 is preferably wider than the upper part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector 5.
[0097] In other words, a major part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector extends below the main plane PO where the covering device rests on the gutter.
[0098] This implies that a major part of the plate-shaped portion of the deflector extends inside the gutter, i.e. between the side walls 2a, 2b.
[0099] In this way, the deflector 5 shifts the flow towards the side wall 2b which is that of the walls 2a, 2b furthest from the flow plane P3.
[0100] The covering device 1 has a device length L1 measured along the longitudinal direction XI of the device and a device width 11 measured in a transverse plane perpendicular to said longitudinal direction XL.
[0101] The deflector 5 comprises a longitudinal edge 50 which is parallel to the flow plane P3 and which is located at a distance from the flow plane P3 of between 30 and 70% of said width 11, preferably between 50 and 70% of the width 11 of device 1.
[0102] This distance of the edge 50 of the deflector 5 from the flow plane P3 allows the flow to be shifted a significant distance from the flow plane P3.
[0103] The deflector 5 creates a baffle in the flow E which is favorable to guiding the flow E away from the first passage 4 without limiting the section of the flow towards the gutter.
[0104] Another effect of this offset of the flow E away from the flow plane P3 is to limit the risk of having projections likely to rise towards the slot 3.
[0105] Another effect of this flow offset is to limit the free fall height of the flow E in the gutter, which limits noise pollution.
[0106] Preferably, the plane P5 formed by the deflector is inclined relative to the support plane PO by an angle of between 10 and 45°, preferably between 15 and 30°.
[0107] The length L1 of device 1 is several times the width 11 of device 1.
[0108] The distance measured in the transverse plane between the lower 42 and upper 41 ends of the first passage 4 is preferably greater than at least half of the width 11 of the device 1.
[0109] The length L1 of the device is here equal to the length of the slot 3, that is to say that the slot 3 extends over the entire length L1 of the device 1.
[0110] Thus, the flow collection capacity via the slot is maximum and homogeneous over the entire length of the device.
[0111] The greater this width 11, the more stable the device 1 is with respect to the gutter 2.
[0112] The fact that the first passage 4 has a length measured between the lower and upper ends 42, 41 of at least 50% of the width 11 makes it possible to have a significant height of the passage 4 which opposes a rise of fluid / dirt during cleaning with the high-pressure nozzle B.
[0113] Thus, the covering device 1 is more stable and it presents a very limited risk of projections / dirt rising.
[0114] Preferably, the slot length is at least 10 times the slot width 13.
[0115] Preferably, the deflector length, measured along the deflector plane, is at least 3 times the deflector width 15 measured along the deflector plane.
[0116] The device 1 comprises a first sheet 6 folded along a main folding line 6a.
[0117] A first part of the first sheet 6 is located on one side of the main fold line 6a and constitutes a first side of the first passage 4 and a first longitudinal edge 3a of the slot 3.
[0118] A second part of the first sheet 6 located on an opposite side of the main fold line 6a constitutes the deflector 5.
[0119] This embodiment makes it possible, using a single sheet 6, to form both an edge 3a of the slot 3, a first side of the first passage 4 and the deflector 5, which is particularly economical and easy to implement.
[0120] Preferably, the main fold line 6a of the first sheet 6 extends parallel to the longitudinal direction XI of the covering device and the length of the main fold line 6a is equal to the length L1 of the covering device 1.
[0121] Furthermore, the covering device 1 comprises a second folded sheet 7 along a main fold line 7a of the second sheet 7.
[0122] A first part of the second sheet 7 located on one side of the main fold line 7a constitutes a second side of said first passage 4 as well as a second longitudinal edge 3b of the slot 3.
[0123] The first and second sides of said first passage 4 are opposite each other.
[0124] A second part of the second sheet 7 located on an opposite side of the line main folding plate 7a constitutes a cover plate 70 which extends perpendicularly to a flow direction E in the first passage 4 passing through the upper 41 and lower 42 ends of the first passage 4.
[0125] In this embodiment, the first passage 4 is on a first side defined by the first part of the first sheet 6 and on a second side opposite the first side by the first part of the second sheet 7.
[0126] This embodiment makes it possible to simplify the manufacture of the device since two sheets 6, 7 make it possible to define the longitudinal edges 3a, 3b of the slot 3, two opposite sides of the first passage 4, the cover plate 70 intended to cover the top of the gutter 2 and the deflector 5 which extends partly under this cover plate 70.
[0127] The first longitudinal edge 3a of the slot 3 has a rectilinear upper limit 3al.
[0128] The second longitudinal edge 3b of the slot 3 has a rectilinear upper limit 3bl.
[0129] The rectilinear upper limit 3al of the first longitudinal edge 3a of the slot 3 and the rectilinear upper limit 3bl of the second longitudinal edge 3b of the slot 3 extend in the same plane P10 which is a water collection plane P10 through slot 3.
[0130] As illustrated in [Fig.2], when the covering device 1 according to the invention is installed to collect water on a ground, it is ensured that the water collection plane P10 defined by the upper limits 3al, 3bl of the edges of the slot 3 comes flush with the profile of the ground.
[0131] In this way the water flowing on the ground reaches the upper limits of the slot 3 and flows by gravity into the slot 3 thus limiting the accumulation of water on the ground.
[0132] The device 1 comprises a plurality of stiffeners 8 extending inside the first passage 4 to define a spacing between the first part of the first sheet 6 and the first part of the second sheet 7.
[0133] Each stiffener 8 of the plurality of stiffeners 8 is on one side assembled with the first sheet 6 and on a second side assembled with the second sheet 7.
[0134] Preferably, as can be understood from [Fig.2], the first passage 4 has a first longitudinal portion comprising the upper end 41 of the first passage 4 and a second longitudinal portion comprising the lower end 42 of the first passage 4.
[0135] On the first longitudinal portion of the first passage 4 (upper portion of the passage 4), the first passage has a flow cross-section E which is constant.
[0136] On the second longitudinal portion of the first passage (lower portion of the passage 4), the first passage has a flow cross-section E which increases as it approaches the lower end 42 of the first passage 4.
[0137] The increasing flow cross-section approaching the lower end 42 of the first passage 4 allows a better distribution of the flow E over a larger surface area of the deflector 5.
[0138] With this characteristic, the flow section at the level of the deflector 5 is greater than the flow section at the level of the first longitudinal portion of the first passage 4 which promotes a regular flow at the level of the deflector, without this deflector inducing a restriction of the flow section.
[0139] In this way, the deflector 5 performs the function of protection against rising splashes without limiting the water evacuation capacity via the slot and the first passage 4.
[0140] The increasing flow cross-section approaching the lower end 42 of the first passage 4 is obtained by a second rectilinear fold 7b of the second sheet 7, this second fold 7b being parallel to the first fold 7a.
[0141] The second fold 7b is formed between the first fold 7a and the upper end 41 of the passage 4.
[0142] More particularly, the first passage 4 is defined between two of said stiffeners 8 of the plurality of stiffeners in such a way that this first passage 4 is tubular (this makes it possible to limit the risk of leaks between two adjacent devices 1.
[0143] In this case, the first passage 4 is formed / delimited laterally by two of the stiffeners 8 of the plurality of stiffeners which are the furthest from each other in this plurality of stiffeners.
[0144] Each stiffener 8 has: - a rising part 81 forming a vertical partition for guiding the flow inside the first passage 4; and
[0145] - a horizontal support portion 82 extending perpendicularly to the rising part 81 of the stiffener 8.
[0146] The rising portions 81 of the stiffeners 8 of the plurality of stiffeners 8 are parallel to each other.
[0147] Similarly, the horizontal support portions 82 of the stiffeners 8 of the plurality of stiffeners 8 are parallel to each other and form a horizontal grid extending at the level of the lower end 42 of the first passage.
[0148] The stiffeners 8 are here spaced regularly along the longitudinal direction XI so that the rising parts 81 form channels parallel to each other in the passage 4 to make the flow as laminar as possible between these rising parts 82.
[0149] These rising parts 81 make it possible to form a grid just at the interface between the slot 3 and the first passage 4 to oppose the passage of objects towards the first passage 4.
[0150] The grid formed by the horizontal support parts 82 of the stiffeners 8 at the lower end 42 prevents objects from rising towards the slot, which limits the risk of the slot becoming blocked. The rising parts are thin sheets opposite the thickness of the horizontal support parts 82, which here consist of hollow profiles.
[0151] Thus, the rising parts practically do not limit the flow section in the first passage 4.
[0152] Since the thicker horizontal support portions 82 are located in the enlarged area of the passage, this thickness has no real effect of limiting the flow section.
[0153] The second part of the second sheet 7 which constitutes the cover plate 70 is supported and is fixed against each of the horizontal support parts 82 of the stiffeners 8 of the plurality of stiffeners 8.
[0154] Thus, the stiffeners 8 make it possible to stiffen the connection between the first and second sheets 6, 7 while guaranteeing that the geometry of the device is maintained. cover 1. These stiffeners 8 form ribs opposing the deformation of the cover device.
[0155] The deflector 5 has recesses which pass through the deflector 5 and which allow the passage of each of the horizontal support parts 82 through the deflector 5. The connection between these recesses and the deflector 5 is preferably made watertight by welds.
[0156] An edge of the second sheet 7 is folded over the terminal ends of the horizontal support parts 82 placed on the side of the second longitudinal edge 102 of the device 1. This edge of the sheet 7 can be welded to each of the ends of the horizontal support parts 82 to stiffen the connection.
[0157] The assembly between the stiffeners 8 and the sheets is here carried out using lateral protrusions 83 formed on the rising parts 81 of the stiffeners and complementary recesses 84 formed in the sheets 6, 7, each complementary recess of a sheet receiving a corresponding lateral protrusion of one of the stiffeners 8.
[0158] Welding or gluing points can also be used to assemble the sheets 6, 7 to the stiffeners 8.
[0159] Such welds or bonds can be used alone or be used in addition to the assembly via the lateral protrusions 83 of the stiffeners 8.
[0160] The cover plate 70 which extends perpendicularly to the flow direction E in the first passage 4 is thus carried by the horizontal support parts 82 of the stiffeners 8 which extend perpendicularly to the flow plane P3 in the first passage 4.
[0161] As seen in Figures 1 to 6, the covering device 1 may also comprise interlocking wedges 91, 92 arranged so that two covering devices 1 identical to each other can be mechanically and fluidically connected in series by interlocking a longitudinal end of one of these devices into a complementary longitudinal end of the other of these devices.
[0162] The longitudinal directions XI of these covering devices are here coaxial with each other.
[0163] In the present case, a first tongue-shaped interlocking wedge 91 is fixed to a longitudinal end edge of the first sheet 6 and a second tongue-shaped interlocking wedge 92 is fixed to a longitudinal end edge of the second sheet 7.
[0164] These wedges 91, 92 in the form of tongues move closer to each other while moving away from the longitudinal end edges of the sheets 6, 7.
[0165] In this way, the wedges 91, 92 of one of the devices 1 can penetrate into the first passage 4 of the other of the covering devices so that these devices are aligned with each other and have mechanical and flow continuity of fluid.
