Description

Title of the invention: MACHINE FOR FEEDING LINEN CLOTHES TO A SCOURING MACHINE Technical field

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a machine for feeding linen sheets to a scutcher. Prior art

[0002] On flax scutching production lines it is known to feed a scutcher with flax sheets. For the scutcher to function as correctly as possible, the flax sheets must be positioned correctly at the inlet of the scutcher, that is to say the flax stems must be parallel to each other and well positioned with respect to the wheel of the scutcher. The operator must therefore intervene to align the sheet against a guide, which then generates dust that the operator risks inhaling. Furthermore, incorrect positioning of the flax sheets at the inlet of the machine generally leads to problems of jamming of the sheets inside this machine and to loss of material, which again requires manual intervention by an operator. Such intervention on the machine can cause accidents to people.

[0003] In view of the above, it is therefore very important to seek to reduce manual interventions by operators which are caused by poor positioning of the linen sheets at the entrance to the scutchers. Statement of the invention

[0004] The invention thus relates to a machine for feeding a scutcher with a sheet of flax consisting of a plurality of flax stems, the feeding machine comprising: - an entrance intended to receive a linen tablecloth, - an outlet intended to feed an inlet of a scutcher with a flax sheet, - at least one transport device configured to transport a flax sheet from the inlet to the outlet of the machine in a longitudinal transport direction, characterized in that the machine comprises a device for dynamically aligning the flax sheet between the inlet and the outlet of the machine, the dynamic alignment device comprising: -on the one hand, one or more sensors configured to determine a position and a dimension of the linen sheet, in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction of transport and, -on the other hand, several mobile organs configured to conform and position the linen sheet, during its transport by said at least one transport device, following a predetermined conformation and position, depending on the position and dimension determined by the sensor(s).

[0005] Taking into account the position and dimension determined by the sensor(s) (for example at the machine inlet), the device for dynamically aligning the flax sheet makes it possible to correctly position the flax sheet at the machine outlet (and therefore at the scutcher inlet) while also giving it the desired shape, in particular the desired width by transverse mechanical thrust of the moving members on one or both longitudinal edges of the flax sheet (the moving members are generally arranged so as to frame the flax sheet inside the machine). For example, the flax sheet at the machine outlet can be as narrow as possible and as centered as possible. Thanks to the dynamic alignment of the flax sheet during its transport into the machine, the sheet thus aligned at the scutcher inlet allows for better operation of the latter by avoiding jams and therefore operator interventions.

[0006] In certain embodiments, the dynamic alignment device comprises at least two movable members which are spaced apart from each other in the transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction of transport of the linen sheet between the inlet and the outlet of the machine, each movable member being configured to move in the transverse direction. One and / or the other of said at least two movable members is capable of moving transversely on command in order to exert a mechanical thrust stress on the linen stems of the sheet, either at their head or at their foot depending on the movable member considered, or simultaneously at the heads and feet of the stems by a joint action of the two movable members.

[0007] In certain embodiments, according to a view taken in a (horizontal) plane containing the longitudinal direction and the transverse direction, said at least two movable members are arranged jointly so as to adopt a convergent shape from the inlet to the outlet of the machine. This general convergent shape in top view of the machine is capable of varying as a function of time in order to take into account the predetermined conformation (width of the sheet) and transverse position (relative to the outlet of the machine) that it is desired to give to the linen sheet at the outlet of the machine.

[0008] In some embodiments, the dynamic alignment device comprises one or more actuators configured to move, upon command, each movable member.

[0009] In certain embodiments, the actuator(s) are cylinders, for example pneumatic or electric.

[0010] In some embodiments, each movable member is a leaf or panel. Such a member extends, for example, longitudinally between the inlet and the outlet of the machine and is articulated about a vertical axis (perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and to the transverse direction) by one end located at the inlet, while the opposite end, located downstream in the machine, is able to move transversely during the articulation / rotation movement.

[0011] In certain embodiments, the sensor(s) are arranged at the input of the machine in order to detect as early as possible the initial configuration of the linen sheet which will be transported into the machine and whose final configuration at the output of the machine is to be modified.

[0012] In certain embodiments, the sensors are arranged relative to each other so as to form a ramp of sensors aligned in a transverse direction, in particular at the entrance to the machine and arranged above the linen sheet.

[0013] The invention also relates to a method of feeding a scutcher with a flax sheet consisting of a plurality of flax stems, the method comprising the following steps carried out in a feeding machine:

[0014] -transport of a linen sheet in a longitudinal direction of transport,

[0015] -determination of a position and a dimension of the linen sheet, in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal direction of transport,

[0016] -conformation and positioning of the linen sheet, during its transport in the machine, following a predetermined conformation and position, depending on the position and dimension previously determined.

[0017] The method set forth above has the same advantages and characteristics as the machine briefly set forth above and they will therefore not be repeated here. Brief description of the drawings

[0018] Other characteristics and advantages of the subject of the present disclosure will emerge from the following description of embodiments, given as non-limiting examples, with reference to the appended figures.

[0026] Figures 1 to 6 show a machine for feeding a scutcher with linen sheets according to one embodiment of the invention. For the sake of clarity, the figures are schematic.

[0027] As shown in [Fig. 1], a machine 10 has the function of feeding flax sheets to a scutcher (not shown) on a flax scutching production line. The feeding machine 10 is placed upstream of the scutcher in the direction of movement of the flax stalks on the production line. [Fig. 1] represents a front view of the machine showing an inlet E for the flax stalks, while [Fig. 2] represents a rear view of the machine showing an outlet S for the flax stalks. The flax stalks are transported in the machine in an axial or longitudinal direction X aligning the inlet and outlet S and the stalks arriving at the outlet S are intended to be supplied to the inlet of the downstream scutcher (not shown).

[0028] The flax stems are brought to the inlet E of the machine by being geometrically oriented in such a way that the axis of the stems is more or less aligned along the transverse axis Y of the machine with, for example, the head of the stem positioned on the left of the figure and the opposite foot on the right. At the inlet E of the machine the flax stems are arranged in sheets which are made up of several thicknesses of flax stems superimposed along the vertical axis Z so as to form a sheet of a certain thickness, for example between 4mm and 10cm and for example 6cm. Furthermore, the heads (resp. feet) of the stems are generally not correctly aligned with each other, which gives the linen sheet thus formed a relatively large width with orientations of stems at an angle relative to the transverse direction and to the longitudinal direction X.

[0029] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the machine comprises a frame 12 on which various equipment or components of the machine are fixed. The frame 12 comprises for example a lower part having two panels which extend axially and form feet 14, 16 spaced transversely from each other. The frame 12 also comprises a horizontal structure 18 forming a table and resting on the feet 14, 16. The frame 12 further comprises an upper part formed by a frame 20 taking for example supported on the feet 14, 16 and rising vertically above the table 18. The frame 20 here takes the form of a metal structure composed mainly of vertical and horizontal uprights which are arranged so as to form frames on each of the front, rear and side faces.

[0030] As shown in [Fig. 1], the frame comprises on the front face, above the inlet E, a covered projection 22 of the machine forming a safety hood for the operators fixed to the frame 20. The flax stems are introduced into the machine from below this hood.

[0031] The table 18 ([Fig.2]) comprises, for example in its central part which is framed by fixed horizontal supports 18a, 18b spaced transversely from one another, a transport device Dt (e.g. conveyor) configured to transport a linen sheet from the inlet E to the outlet S of the machine. In this exemplary embodiment, the transport device Dt takes the form of several conveyor belts btl, bt2, bt3 parallel to each other and spaced transversely from one another. A different number of conveyor belts (e.g. 1, 2 or more than 3) may be used and / or with a different width (transverse dimension). Alternatively, a transport device having a different structure may be used.

[0032] The conveyor belts btl, bt2, bt3 are wound around two front cylinders C1, rear C2 each mounted to rotate around a transverse axis a1, a2 (figs. 1 and 2). One of the two axes of the cylinders, for example the axis a2 of C2, is driven in rotation by a motor not shown and which allows the linen sheet to be transported longitudinally in the machine according to a determined forward or transport speed. This speed can vary according to the needs during the transport of the linen sheets. The machine can also comprise at the outlet S, in line with the cylinder C2 and downstream of it, longitudinal walls forming guides G1 and G2 ([Fig.2]) which are spaced transversely from each other so as to frame and laterally guide the linen sheet coming from the machine so that it maintains a longitudinal exit direction.

[0033] The frame 20 may also comprise, on the rear face, a feed wheel R mounted on a chassis C suspended from a bar bl arranged horizontally between two vertical uprights M1, M2 which delimit the rear face of the structure. The wheel R is mounted free to rotate about a horizontal transverse axis ([Fig.2]) and the vertical position (height) of the wheel R varies according to the height or thickness of the flax sheet at the outlet S of the machine by coming into contact with the sheet without however slowing it down in its progression downstream. The vertical position (height) of the wheel R can be freely adjusted according to the thickness of the flax sheet thanks to a free mounting in vertical translation on the chassis C. Depending on the thickness of the sheet, the vertical position taken by the wheel is determined by a position sensor not shown and This information, which is representative of the thickness of the sheet, is transmitted to a central unit (computer) which will be described later. It should be noted that another thickness gauge device can alternatively be used. Alternatively, the machine may not have any thickness gauge device.

[0034] The machine 10 further comprises a plurality of sensors in this embodiment. The sensors Ca are arranged relative to each other so as to form a ramp of sensors arranged transversely (horizontally) RCa at the input of the machine. More particularly, the sensors are arranged at the front face of the frame 20 delimited by the vertical uprights M3, M4 and are mounted on a horizontal crosspiece T1 which extends between these two uprights. The sensors Ca are in particular mounted here on a bar b3 fixed to the crosspiece TL. Other types of mounting of the sensors on the machine can of course be envisaged. The Ca sensors are regularly spaced from each other along the transverse direction Y so as to extend (and cover) over a transverse dimension corresponding to the maximum width of the linen sheets entering the machine, or even greater than the latter in order to ensure that all possible widths are covered. The width of a linen sheet is defined by the length of the linen stems of the sheet between the foot and the head of the stem. However, at the entrance to the machine, the stems are generally not correctly aligned with each other, the width of the sheet can be extended.

[0035] The RCa ramp can for example comprise 8 to 10 sensors. The principle is to be able to obtain sufficient information on the entire width of the linen sheets at the entrance E of the machine in order to be as precise as possible and to create a sort of map of the linen sheet at the entrance. The Ca sensors are, for example, measuring sensors of the laser sensor type (all or nothing). This RCa sensor ramp makes it possible to measure the width and transverse position of a linen sheet at its entrance into the machine (at the front face located between the uprights M3 and M4 of the frame). The width of the sheet is determined by a suitable number of sensors which makes it possible to take into account almost all possible sheet widths. The transverse position is defined, for example, by reference to the width of the machine's entrance opening at the front face.

[0036] Furthermore, the machine 10 comprises several movable members, for example here two members VI, V2, which are configured to act jointly on the two opposite longitudinal edges of the flax sheet (the two members frame these two edges) during its longitudinal transport inside the machine, according to the information provided by the sensors at the input of the machine and this, in order to provide at the output of the machine a flax sheet which is correctly aligned to be able to supply the input of the scutcher located downstream of the machine without generating subsequent jamming. With the information on the sheet width and the sheet position, the machine manages the position of the moving parts (taking into account in particular the travel time in the machine).

[0037] For this purpose, the machine comprises, as shown schematically in [Fig. 4], a central processing unit or computer UC which processes the information coming from the sensors RCa and adjusts the position of the moving members VI, V2 according to this information and taking into account the speed of advance of the linen sheet in the machine (speed coming from the motor M). The central processing unit UC also processes the position information provided by the position sensor of the feed wheel R in order to regulate the speed of the transport device according to the thickness of the sheet detected at the outlet of the machine and thus to accelerate or slow down the drive speed in relation to a thickness setpoint (the thickness setpoint is for example given in order to avoid causing jams downstream). It should be noted, however, that the machine can operate without information on the thickness of the sheet at the machine outlet (the measuring wheel or the thickness gauge device may be absent). In this case, the machine is operated at a fixed speed and the central unit UC only takes into account the travel time of the sheet in the machine.

[0038] More particularly, the movable members are configured to conform and position the flax sheet transversely, during its transport, according to the transverse position and the transverse dimension determined by the input sensors, according to a predetermined transverse conformation and transverse position for the flax sheet. For example, it is desired to position the flax sheet so that the feet of the flax stems are at a predetermined distance from an edge of the machine, that is to say for example from the guide Gl.

[0039] In the present embodiment, the machine comprises two movable members VI, V2 which extend from upstream to downstream above the table 18 so as to jointly adopt a convergent shape: the movable members are further apart at their end VI. 1, V2.1 located at the front (upstream) of the machine than at their end VI.2, V2.2 located at the rear (downstream) of the machine, thus narrowing the width or transverse dimension between the downstream ends VI.2, V2.2 of these members. Each member VI, V2 is for example mounted articulated (in rotation) around a respective vertical axis a3, a4 fixed to the front face of the frame 20 of the machine, for example at the level of the vertical uprights M3, M4 and an upper crosspiece T2 which extends between these uprights. Each movable organ VI, V2 is similar to a panel or hinged leaf which, for reasons of weight, is not solid but can take the form of a frame with an openwork center VI.3, V2.3.Each mobile member VI, V2 may comprise, in the lower part, a deflecting contact zone VI.4, V2.4 which is mounted in the lower part of the respective frame VI.3, V2.3. The deflecting contact zone V1.4, V2.4 is intended to come into contact with the longitudinal edges of the linen sheet and in particular with the . flax stems (either with the head of the flax stems for zone VI.4, or with the foot for zone V2.4, or with both thanks to the joint actions of zones V1.4, V2.4), in order to exert a transverse thrust stress on the stems which has the effect of shifting them transversely: either from their head, or from their foot, or from both ends of the stems at the same time. This modification of the transverse position of all the stems and therefore of the sheet as it progresses in the machine makes it possible to give the sheet, on the one hand, the desired shape by tightening it in particular according to its transverse dimension or width (transverse direction Y) and, on the other hand, the desired position according to the transverse direction Y of the machine in order to present it at the entrance of the scutcher in the desired position. The deflecting contact zone VI.4, V2.4 takes for example here the form of a strip wound around two vertical axes which are each mounted on the lower edge of the frame VI.3, V2.3, so that each strip is mounted free to rotate around its two axes so as not to exert additional constraints (e.g. friction) on the flax stems during lateral contact with the latter. The lower edge of the two deflecting contact zones V1.4, V2.4 is located vertically slightly above the table 18 in order to be able to interact with the flax stems without hindering their movement. The movable member VI can be called the head leaf, while the movable member V2 can be called the foot leaf.

[0040] The machine also comprises one or more actuators configured to move, on command, transversely each movable member VI, V2, in particular here the downstream end V1.2, V2.2 of these members (assembly with the largest possible lever arm). The members can both be moved or only one of them can be moved, depending on the information provided by the sensors. When it is necessary to move both members, they are moved simultaneously.

[0041] As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the machine comprises two actuators 30, 32 (e.g. pneumatic cylinders; alternatively, they can be electric) mounted on the frame 12 and which allow, depending on the commands sent by the central unit UC, to move the corresponding mobile member VI, V2 around its respective axis of rotation a3, a4.

[0042] In the present embodiment, the two actuators 30, 32 are mechanically supported, on the rear face of the machine (simplified assembly), by the same transverse bar b2: one 30 is fixed under the bar to actuate the movable member VI, while the other 32 is fixed above the bar to actuate the movable member V2. An inverted arrangement can alternatively be envisaged. The actuator 30 is fixed at its working or application end 30a, for example, to a support structure SI fixed to a vertical downstream edge of the frame VI, while the actuator 32 is fixed at its working or application end 32a, for example, to a support structure S2 fixed to a vertical downstream edge of the V2 frame. Note that other fixing points can alternatively be considered.

[0043] Figures 5 to 7 illustrate, according to top views of the machine (views taken in a plane containing the X and Y directions), several examples of possible geometric configurations for opening / closing the movable members VI and V2 as a function of different configurations of linen sheets entering the machine. In all these figures, the two movable members VI and V2 jointly adopt a convergent shape, for example a V from upstream to downstream with the tip of the V directed downstream. Depending on the constraints undergone at the entrance to the machine and the objectives imposed at the exit of the machine, the angle of convergence between the two movable members VI and V2 varies according to the desired width of the sheet leaving the machine and the tip of the V moves transversely according to the desired transverse position for the sheet at the exit.

[0044] Thus, in [Fig. 5] the linen sheet NI has at the input a first configuration which is detected by the sensors Ca through a measurement of the transverse positioning along the Y direction and the width of the sheet. In this case, for example, we wish to have at the output S of the machine a linen sheet whose transverse position is centered relative to the two lateral edges of the machine (e.g.: guide edges G1 and G2) and with a given width L1.To obtain this output configuration, the central unit UC controls at a time t the two actuators 30, 32 appropriately, depending on the input configuration of the sheet detected by the sensors at a previous time t-1, so that the movable members VI and V2 are oriented (position PI of the two members) with substantially the same inclination relative to each other (same inclination relative to the longitudinal direction X) and jointly exert a mechanical thrust on the two opposite longitudinal edges B1, B2 of the linen sheet that they frame in order to center the linen sheet relative to the output of the machine. The time interval t-(tl) depends on the drive speed or forward speed in the machine. In practice, the central unit UC can control the actuators using an encoder arranged on the axis of the transport device and thus, for example, actuate them from a given number of points of the encoder.Furthermore, the spacing between the two downstream ends V1.2 and V2.2 which is obtained by the deployment or retraction of the actuators 30, 32 makes it possible to adjust the width of the linen sheet to the desired dimension LL. Thus, in the configuration of [Fig.5] the two mobile members VI and V2 will be opened or closed at the same time to position the sheet in the center of the machine.

[0045] In [Fig.6] the linen sheet N2 has a second configuration at the input which is detected by the sensors Ca through a measurement of the transverse positioning along the Y direction and the width of the sheet. In this case, we wish for example, having at the output S of the machine a linen sheet whose transverse position is shifted towards one of the two lateral edges of the machine (e.g.: guide edge Gl) and with a given width L2. To obtain this output configuration, the central unit UC controls the two actuators 30, 32 appropriately, depending on the input configuration of the sheet detected by the sensors, so that the orientation of the mobile members VI and V2 is modified (position P2 of the two members) compared to that of [Fig.5]: the inclination of the mobile member V2 closest to the edge Gl is reduced so that the linen sheet can move closer to this edge and the inclination of the mobile member VI furthest from the edge Gl is increased in order to shift the linen sheet transversely towards this edge. In addition, the spacing between the two downstream ends VI.2 and V2.2 which is obtained by the deployment or retraction of the actuators 30, 32 makes it possible to adjust the width of the linen sheet to the desired dimension L2 which can be equal to L1 or different from L1. Thus, in the configuration of [Fig.6] (head aligner) we will first open or close the movable member V2 (foot leaf) to place the head of the rods at the limit of the movable member V1 (head leaf) and if the length of the linen stems requires it (although the foot leaf V2 is fully open the linen stems remain too long), we will open the head leaf V1 to let the linen pass and therefore adapt to the width of the sheet.

[0046] In [Fig.7] the linen sheet N3 has a third configuration at the input which is detected by the sensors Ca through a measurement of the transverse positioning along the Y direction and the width of the sheet. In this case, for example, we wish to have at the output S of the machine a linen sheet whose transverse position is shifted towards one of the two lateral edges of the machine (here the guide edge G2, at the level of the feet of the linen stems) and with a given width L3.To obtain this output configuration, the central unit UC controls the two actuators 30, 32 appropriately, depending on the input configuration of the sheet detected by the sensors, so that the orientation of the mobile members VI and V2 is modified (position P3 of the two members) compared to that of figures 5 and 6: the inclination of the mobile member V2 closest to the edge Gl (furthest from the edge G2) is increased so that the linen sheet can move away from the edge Gl and approach the edge G2 and the inclination of the mobile member VI furthest from the edge Gl (closest from the edge G2) is decreased in order to shift the linen sheet transversely towards this edge. Furthermore, the spacing between the two downstream ends VI.2 and V2.2 which is obtained by the deployment or retraction of the actuators 30, 32 makes it possible to adjust the width of the linen sheet to the desired dimension L3 which can be equal to or different from L1 and / or L2.

[0047] The elements described above, namely the sensors Ca and the moving parts VI, V2, jointly form a device for dynamically aligning the flax web in the machine 10 which makes it possible to align in real time the flax web being transported in the machine according to a state of the flax web previously detected at the inlet E of the machine. The alignment is done almost in real time since the portion of the web, the transverse position of which relative to the inlet of the machine and the width have been measured at a given instant, then undergoes the mechanical action of the moving members which frame it at the following instant (corresponding to the time necessary for the portion of the web to arrive between the moving members taking into account the speed of advance of the web in the machine). The web is thus positioned axially and transversely as desired to be able to feed the scutcher located downstream without causing jamming.

[0048] Although the present invention has been described with reference to specific exemplary embodiments, it is obvious that modifications and changes may be made to these examples without departing from the general scope of the invention as defined by the claims. In particular, individual features of the various illustrated / mentioned embodiments may be combined in additional embodiments. Therefore, the description and drawings should be considered in an illustrative rather than restrictive sense.

[0049] It is also understood that all the characteristics described with reference to a method are transposable, alone or in combination, to a device, and conversely, all the characteristics described with reference to a device are transposable, alone or in combination, to a method.
