Description

Title of the invention: Design-creation of hybrid furniture and artifacts with intercultural technical forms

[0001] The hybrid furniture and artifacts of the SYMETRIE brand are the result of action research in a doctoral thesis. They implement the model of augmented culture developed in this thesis and characterized by the principle of symmetrical integration. This principle is an epistemological triptych: intercomprehension, reappropriation by trial and error of cultural operational forms and co-construction of universal operational forms. The furniture of the SYMETRIE brand is designed according to two types of processes which will be described.

Claims

Claims

1. Intercultural epistemology. This is a field of research and creation that I have developed in my work and of which I am the precursor. This field implies an extension in terms of experimentation in all fields of knowledge. I thus claim this project of extension.

2. Principles. This involves bringing together in a single artifact / object, diverse characteristics of the same artifact / object parentage. The new object presents a unified architecture that conveys diverse information. I claim these principles.

3. The process of creation. The basic principle is the absence of diverse, preselected forms. The designers work together on an original project, agreeing on the characteristics of the object. The process is tripartite: projection, mapping of forms, and harmonization of forms. Projection: the interlocutors discuss the nature of the object, in this case furniture. They define its characteristics and purpose. They reach an agreement. Mapping of forms: the interlocutors present organize the abstract forms in a space in order to preview the forms of a new object in a single map. Harmonization of forms: here it is a question of producing several successive drawings of the future object, harmonizing the mapped forms in order to achieve true coherence. I claim this process.

4. The hybridization process. The basic principle is the presence of diverse, pre-selected forms. The interlocutors work together on an original project by agreeing on the characteristics of the object. Two sub-processes are distinguished: syncretism and subtraction-addition. Syncretism aims for heterogeneity by harmonizing various forms, while subtraction-addition aims for homogeneity by bringing external nuances to the same object. The process is tripartite: analysis, mapping of forms and harmonization of forms. Analysis of objects: the interlocutors who propose to work together, visualize the chosen objects without any a priori discriminating criteria and make an architectural deconstruction of them. This deconstruction results in divisions. The interlocutors must also agree.Shape mapping: the interlocutors present organize the shapes cut out in a space. in order to preview the shapes of a new hybrid object in a single map. Harmony of shapes: here it is a question of producing several successive drawings of the future object by harmonizing the mapped shapes in order to achieve true coherence. I claim this process.
