Description

Title of the invention: Fluidic connection block of a component with a fluidic function

[0001] The present invention relates to a fluidic fitting block of a component with a fluidic function, in particular an electromechanical expansion valve.

[0002] In certain fluidic components such as electromechanical expansion valves of the ExV type (ExV stands for "Electrical Expansion Valve"), machined fluidic connection blocks are used. The block machined to create channels for fluid circulation can become contaminated by metallic particles, particularly aluminum, which remain attached to the block after machining. These metallic particles can then enter the fluid used in the fluidic connection block. It is important to filter these particles from the circulating fluid to prevent them from being carried by the fluid, which could damage components of a fluid circulation circuit in which the fluid is used.

[0003] However, replacing the filter of the fluidic function component requires complete disassembly of said component by the operator, which makes the operation complex.

[0004] In addition, there is a need to increase the compactness of electromechanical expansion valves while preserving the filtering capacity of the filter of the quantities of particles that could damage the components of said circuit.

[0005] The invention aims in particular to remedy these drawbacks.

[0006] The invention thus relates to a fluidic connection block for a component with a fluidic function, in particular for an electromechanical pressure regulator, said fluidic connection block comprising:

[0007] - at least a first cavity for the circulation of a heat transfer fluid, said first cavity arranged to receive a filter which is configured to retain particles present in the heat transfer fluid; and

[0008] - a second heat transfer fluid circulation cavity located downstream of said first cavity, said second cavity being configured to receive the heat transfer fluid which has been filtered by the filter;

[0009] these first and second cavities each having at least one lateral wall; and

[0010] the two respective lateral walls intersect at an intersection to allow circulation of heat transfer fluid between the two cavities.

[0011] A "lateral wall" of the circulation cavity is understood to be a wall that connects the extremities of the cavity to each other. The "extremities" of said cavity are defined along the greatest length of the cavity, namely along a longitudinal direction of said cavity.

[0012] Thanks to the fact that the two respective side walls intersect to allow circulation of heat transfer fluid between the two cavities, the volume of the filter that can be placed in the first cavity is optimized, thus optimizing the number of particles that can be filtered by the filter. Furthermore, this allows for a more compact design of the fluidic component, particularly an electromechanical expansion valve.

[0013] Furthermore, the filter can be easily replaced by simply accessing the first cavity, rather than having to disassemble the entire fluidic component. In other words, the filter is mounted in the first cavity, for example parallel to this first cavity, without being clamped in this first cavity.

[0014] Thus, it is not necessary to loosen the first cavity when replacing the filter. The invention is therefore particularly advantageous in that it facilitates filter replacement compared to a case where it is necessary to add and tighten an additional connection comprising said filter as an extension of one of the cavities of the fluidic connection block.

[0015] According to one aspect of the invention, the first cavity and the second cavity extend in different directions.

[0016] According to one aspect of the invention, the first cavity extends along a longitudinal axis and the second cavity extends along another vertical axis.

[0017] According to one aspect of the invention, the cavity or cavities have an elongated shape.

[0018] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block comprises a fluid inlet cavity.

[0019] According to one aspect of the invention, the first cavity forms a fluid inlet cavity.

[0020] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block includes a fluid outlet cavity.

[0021] According to one aspect of the invention, the third cavity forms the fluid outlet cavity.

[0022] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block comprises a fluid inlet cavity arranged to be in fluidic communication with the inlet of the fluid circulation regulation zone.

[0023] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block comprises a fluid outlet cavity arranged to be in fluidic communication with the outlet of the fluid circulation regulation zone.

[0024] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block further comprises a third heat transfer fluid circulation cavity located downstream of said second cavity.

[0025] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid outlet cavity opens onto a fluid outlet orifice of the fluidic fitting block.

[0026] According to one aspect of the invention, the third cavity extends from the bore of the second circulation cavity.

[0027] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid outlet orifice of the fluidic fitting block comprises a bore whose cross-section is larger than the cross-section of the third cavity.

[0028] According to one aspect of the invention, the axis of the third cavity and the axis of the second cavity are arranged perpendicularly to each other.

[0029] In this way, the heat transfer fluid undergoes a substantially right-angle turn between the third circulation cavity and the second circulation cavity.

[0030] According to one aspect of the invention, the first fluid cavity and the third fluid cavity are parallel to each other.

[0031] According to one aspect of the invention, the filter has an elongated shape, lengthwise in the first cavity.

[0032] The filter is arranged to filter particles, in particular metallic particles, present in the heat transfer fluid in order to remove them from the circulating heat transfer fluid.

[0033] Thus, the presence of the filter prevents these particles from being transported by the heat transfer fluid, which could damage components of a fluid circulation circuit in which the fluid is used.

[0034] According to one aspect of the invention, the axis of the first cavity and the axis of the second cavity are arranged perpendicularly to each other.

[0035] In this way, the heat transfer fluid undergoes a substantially right-angle turn between the first circulation cavity and the second circulation cavity.

[0036] According to one aspect of the invention, the dimensions of the second cavity (Z-axis) are larger than those of the first cavity.

[0037] According to one aspect of the invention, the cross-section of at least one of the cavities, preferably of each of the cavities, is substantially circular in shape.

[0038] According to one aspect of the invention, one end of the first cavity is obstructed by a blind hole.

[0039] Thus, the blind hole allows the filter arranged to be placed in the first cavity to be wedged.

[0040] According to one aspect of the invention, the other end of the first cavity is arranged to receive a fluidic fitting, in particular a connecting pipe.

[0041] The fluidic connection block has a particle accumulation zone located on the inner face of the blind hole of the first cavity arranged to face one end of the filter. The outer face of the blind hole is located on the other side of the face from the blind hole.

[0042] In this way, the particles can accumulate at one end of the filter in the downstream direction of the heat transfer fluid. This accumulation zone corresponds to a portion of the first cavity, allowing the particles to be collected without flowing into one or more cavities located downstream of the first cavity.

[0043] According to one aspect of the invention, the second cavity comprises at least one chamber, in particular at least three chambers, and at least one bore, so that the cross-section of the second cavity diminishes from the chamber(s) towards the bore.

[0044] According to one aspect of the invention, the chamber(s) are located upstream of the fluid circulation of the second cavity, in particular with respect to the bore.

[0045] According to one aspect of the invention, the chamber located furthest upstream of the second cavity has an oblong hole.

[0046] According to one aspect of the invention, the bore of the second cavity is located downstream of the fluid flow relative to the chamber(s).

[0047] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block has an overall parallelepiped shape, in particular a cuboid shape.

[0048] According to one aspect of the invention, the first cavity extends along an edge of the fluidic connection block.

[0049] According to one aspect of the invention, the first cavity extends over any edge of the fluidic connection block.

[0050] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block is in one piece.

[0051] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block is obtained by machining.

[0052] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid inlet and fluid outlet cavities on the fluidic fitting block are obtained by machining.

[0053] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block comprises a profile arranged to serve as a base for an actuator, in particular an electromechanical actuator.

[0054] The profile extends from one of the walls of the fluidic connection block, in particular from the opposite wall to a wall comprising the edge from which the first circulation cavity extends.

[0055] According to one aspect of the invention, the profile extending from the wall is curved.

[0056] The invention also relates to a fluidic component, in particular an electromechanical expansion valve, said component comprising:

[0057] - a fluidic connection block according to the invention; and

[0058] - a filter intended to be received in the first cavity of said component.

[0059] The filter that can be placed in the first cavity serves to filter particles present in the fluid before the fluid enters one or more cavities located downstream of the first cavity.

[0060] The component with fluidic function can be an expansion valve or any other equivalent component.

[0061] The filter extends over the entire length of the first cavity.

[0062] The filter has a general cylindrical shape.

[0063] The filter includes at least one sealing gasket longitudinally around its longitudinal axis.

[0064] The invention also relates to a module comprising:

[0065] - a fluidic function component according to the invention; and

[0066] - an actuator, in particular an electromechanical actuator, comprising a zone of fluid circulation regulation comprising at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet, the actuator further comprising a movable valve in this regulation zone so as to selectively allow, in a closed position, the blocking of fluid circulation between the inlet and outlet of this regulation zone, and, in an open position, to allow fluid to pass between this fluid inlet and outlet,

[0067] said actuator being configured to activate said fluidic function component so as to allow fluid circulation in said fluidic connection block.

[0068] According to one aspect of the invention, the actuator comprises a housing on which is mounted a nozzle which forms the fluid circulation regulation zone.

[0069] According to one aspect of the invention, the nozzle which forms the fluid circulation regulation zone includes the valve.

[0070] According to one aspect of the invention, the actuator includes an electrical connector configured to allow the electrical connection of the actuator to a power supply and to an actuator control unit.

[0071] According to one aspect of the invention, the nozzle is configured to be placed in the second cavity of the fluidic fitting block.

[0072] According to one aspect of the invention, said second cavity forms a housing for the tip of the actuator.

[0073] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one sealing gasket, in particular an O-ring sealing gasket, is inserted between this end piece and the housing of the fluidic connection block.

[0074] According to one aspect of the invention, the nozzle comprises at least one orifice forming the fluid inlet, in particular a plurality of orifices forming the fluid inlet.

[0075] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid inlet of the regulation zone is arranged to receive the heat transfer fluid from the first circulation cavity of the fluidic connection block.

[0076] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid outlet of the regulation zone is arranged to deliver the heat transfer fluid to the third circulation cavity.

[0077] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid inlet ports of the nozzle are arranged around a longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

[0078] According to one aspect of the invention, the nozzle comprises a cylindrical wall extending along its longitudinal axis.

[0079] According to one aspect of the invention, the orifice or orifices of the nozzle forming the fluid inlet of the regulating zone are formed on this cylindrical wall.

[0080] According to one aspect of the invention, the orifices forming the fluid inlet are for example two, three, four or more in number, and are for example circular.

[0081] According to one aspect of the invention, the nozzle comprises an end wall with a fluid passage which forms the fluid outlet of the regulating area.

[0082] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluid passage forming the fluid outlet is adjacent to a seat formed by the end wall on which the valve rests in the closed position.

[0083] Thus the fluid enters the regulation zone in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle, and leaves the regulation zone of the nozzle through the fluid outlet in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

[0084] In other words, in the regulation zone, the heat transfer fluid undergoes a turn substantially at a right angle.

[0085] According to one aspect of the invention, the second heat transfer fluid circulation cavity of the fluidic connection block is in the form of an annular cavity locally surrounding the actuator tip.

[0086] Thus the fluid inlet of the regulation zone communicates with the second circulation cavity of the fluidic connection block.

[0087] According to one aspect of the invention, the valve comprises a shaft at the end of which is provided a permanent magnet, said permanent magnet being configured to cooperate with electrical windings.

[0088] According to one aspect of the invention, the shaft is configured to allow translation of the valve needle in a longitudinal direction.

[0089] According to one aspect of the invention, the actuator valve moves parallel to this longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

[0090] According to one aspect of the invention, the actuator valve includes a valve needle arranged to move along the longitudinal axis of the valve and to close the fluid outlet of the regulating area.

[0091] According to one aspect of the invention, the longitudinal axis of the valve is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

[0092] According to one aspect of the invention, the longitudinal axis of the valve coincides with the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

[0093] According to one aspect of the invention, the shaft has a threaded section to allow helical and reversible movement of the valve needle towards the outlet of the regulating area.

[0094] According to one aspect of the invention, the outlet of the regulating zone has a frustoconical shape configured to fit the shape of the valve needle.

[0095] According to one aspect of the invention, the heat transfer fluid can be liquid, gaseous or be an oil.

[0096] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic function component is used in a heat pump, in particular one mounted on board a motor vehicle.

[0097] According to one aspect of the invention, the fluidic connection block is made of metal, for example aluminum, being obtained in particular by machining.

[0098] Thus, channels for fluid circulation, for example formed by the first and second cavities, are formed in the fluidic connection block.

[0099] According to one aspect of the invention, the heat transfer fluid is used in an air conditioning system and is, for example, a refrigerant fluid, in particular of type R 134a and R1234yf.

[0106] The features, variants, and different embodiments of the invention can be combined in various ways, provided they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be conceived comprising only a selection of features, which will be described hereafter in isolation from the others. characteristics described, if this selection of characteristics is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.

[0107] Figures 1 and 4 to 5 show a module 2 comprising a fluidic function component 4, here an electromechanical expansion valve 4 (also called “EXV” for “Electrical Expansion Valve” in English).

[0108] With reference in particular to [Fig.4], the fluidic function component 4 includes a fluidic connection block 6. The fluidic function component 4 may be an expansion valve or any other equivalent component, which is used in a heat pump, in particular one mounted on board a motor vehicle (not shown).

[0109] As can be seen in particular in figures 1 to 2 and 4, the fluidic connection block 6, which is in one piece, has an overall parallelepiped shape, in particular a block shape.

[0110] This fluidic connection block 6 includes a first circulation cavity 8 of a heat transfer fluid 9, said first cavity 8 being arranged to receive a filter 10 which is configured to retain particles present in the heat transfer fluid 9.

[0111] The fluidic connection block 6 further includes a second circulation cavity 12 for the heat transfer fluid located downstream of said first cavity 8, said second cavity 12 being configured to receive the heat transfer fluid 9 which has been filtered by the filter 10.

[0112] These first and second cavities 8, 12 each have a lateral wall 14 and the two respective lateral walls 14 intersect at an intersection 16 to allow circulation of heat transfer fluid between the two cavities 8,12.

[0113] A "lateral wall" 14 of the circulation cavity 8, 12 is understood to be a wall which connects the ends of the cavity 8, 12 to each other. The "ends" of said cavity are defined along the greatest length of the cavity, namely along a longitudinal direction X of said cavity 8, 12.

[0114] Thanks to the fact that the two respective side walls 14 intersect at a point 16 to allow circulation of heat transfer fluid 9 between the two cavities 8, 12, the volume of the filter 10 that can be placed in the first cavity 8 is optimized, and thus the number of particles that can be filtered by the filter 10 is optimized. Furthermore, this allows for a more compact design of the fluidic component 4, in particular an electromechanical expansion valve 4. Moreover, the filter 10 can be easily replaced by simply accessing the first cavity 8, rather than having to disassemble the entire fluidic component 4. In other words, the filter 10 is mounted in the first cavity 8, for example parallel to this first cavity 8, without being clamped in this first cavity 8.

[0115] Thus, it is not necessary to loosen the first cavity 8 when replacing the filter 10. The invention is therefore particularly advantageous in that it facilitates the replacement of the filter 10 compared to a case where it is necessary to add and tighten an additional connection including said filter 10 as an extension of one of the cavities of the fluidic connection block 6. The fluidic connection block 6 is made of metal, for example of aluminium, being obtained in particular by machining.

[0116] Thus, channels for fluid circulation, for example formed by the first and second cavities 8, 12, are formed in the fluidic connection block 6.

[0117] The first cavity 8 extends along a longitudinal axis X and the second cavity 12 extends along another vertical axis Z. These cavities 8, 12 have an elongated shape.

[0118] The X axis is, for example, the longitudinal axis defined according to the longest length of the fluidic connection block 6. The Y axis is, for example, the transverse axis of said fluidic connection block 6, and perpendicular to the X axis. The Z axis is defined as an axis perpendicular to the plane defined by the X and Y axes so as to form an XYZ trihedron.

[0119] As detailed in [Fig.3], the fluidic connection block 6 further comprises a third circulation cavity 18 for the heat transfer fluid 9 located downstream of said second cavity 12.

[0120] Fig. 1 makes it particularly visible that the fluidic fitting block 6 has a fluid inlet cavity formed by the first cavity 8 and a fluid outlet cavity formed by the third cavity 18. The fluid inlet and fluid outlet cavities 8, 18 on the fluidic fitting block 6 are obtained by machining.

[0121] As can be seen in [Fig. 3], the first fluid cavity 8 and the third fluid cavity 18 are parallel to each other. The second cavity 12 has three chambers 20 and a bore 22, such that the cross-section of the second cavity 12 decreases from the chambers 20 towards the bore 22. The chambers 20 are located upstream of the fluid flow in the second cavity 12, particularly with respect to the bore 22. The chamber 20 located furthest upstream in the second cavity 12 has an oblong hole 24.

[0122] Referring to Figures 1 and 3, the fluid outlet cavity 18 opens onto a fluid outlet orifice 25 of the fluidic connection block 6. The third cavity 18 extends from the bore 22 of the second circulation cavity 12.

[0123] The fluid outlet orifice 25 of the fluidic fitting block includes a bore (not shown) whose cross-section is larger than the cross-section of the third cavity 18.

[0124] The axis of the third cavity 18, axis X, and the axis of the second cavity 12, axis Z, are arranged perpendicularly to each other.

[0125] In this way, the heat transfer fluid 9 undergoes a substantially right-angle turn between the third circulation cavity 18 and the second circulation cavity 12.

[0126] With reference in particular to [Fig.4], the fluidic function component 4 includes the filter 10 intended to be received in the first cavity 8 of said component 4.

[0127] The filter 10, having a general cylindrical and elongated shape, extends over the entire length of the first cavity 8. The filter 10 has sealing gaskets 27, here seven in number, longitudinally around its longitudinal axis X.

[0128] The filter 10, which can be placed in the first cavity 8, serves to filter particles present in the fluid 9 before the fluid 9 enters one or more cavities 12 located downstream of the first cavity 8.

[0129] The filter 10 is arranged to filter particles, in particular metallic particles, present in the heat transfer fluid 9 to remove them from the circulating heat transfer fluid 9.

[0130] Thus, the presence of the filter 10 prevents these particles from being transported by the heat transfer fluid 9, which could damage components of a fluid circulation circuit in which the fluid 9 is used.

[0131] The axis of the first cavity 8, namely the X axis, and the axis of the second cavity 12, namely the Z axis, are arranged perpendicularly to each other.

[0132] In this way, the heat transfer fluid 9 undergoes a substantially right-angle turn between the first circulation cavity 8 and the second circulation cavity 12.

[0133] The dimensions of the second cavity 12, the Z axis, are larger than those of the first cavity 8. The cross-section of the cavities 8, 12, preferably of each of the cavities 8, 12, is substantially circular in shape.

[0134] One 26 of the ends of the first cavity 8 is obstructed by a blind hole 26.

[0135] Thus, the blind hole 26 allows the filter 10, arranged to be placed in the first cavity 8.

[0136] The other end 28 of the first cavity 8 is arranged to receive a fluid fitting 30, in particular a connecting pipe 30. The fluid function component further includes a sealing element 31 arranged to ensure sealing between the fluid fitting 30 and the fluid inlet cavity 8.

[0137] The fluidic connection block 6 has a particle accumulation zone located on the inner face 32 of the blind hole 26 of the first cavity 8 arranged to face one of the ends of the filter 10. The outer face 34 of the blind hole 26 is located on the other side of the face of the blind hole 26.

[0138] In this way, the particles can accumulate at one of the ends 26, 28 of the filter 10 in the downstream direction of the heat transfer fluid 9. This accumulation zone corresponds to a part of the first cavity 8 allowing the particles to be collected, without them flowing towards one or more cavities 12, 18 located downstream of the first cavity 8.

[0139] With reference in particular to figures 4 and 5, the module further includes an electromechanical actuator 36, comprising a fluid circulation regulation zone 38 which includes a fluid inlet 40 and a fluid outlet 42.

[0140] As illustrated in [Fig.3], the fluidic connection block 6 includes a profile 44 arranged to serve as a base for the electromechanical actuator 36. The curved profile 44 extends from the opposite wall to a wall comprising the edge from which the first circulation cavity 8 extends. The first cavity 8 extends over any edge of the fluidic connection block 6.

[0141] As can be seen in particular in [Fig.5], the actuator 36 further includes a movable valve 50 in this regulating zone 38 so as to selectively allow, in a closed position, the circulation of fluid 9 between the inlet 40 and the outlet 42 of this regulating zone to be blocked, and, in an open position, to allow fluid 9 to pass between this inlet 40 and this fluid outlet 42.

[0142] The first cavity 8 is arranged to be in fluidic communication with the inlet of the fluid circulation regulation zone 40 and the third cavity 18 is arranged to be in fluidic communication with the outlet of the fluid circulation regulation zone 42.

[0143] Said actuator 36 is configured to activate said fluidic function component 4 so as to allow the circulation of fluid 9 in said fluidic connection block 6. The actuator comprises a housing 52 on which is mounted an end piece 54 which forms the fluid circulation regulation zone 38. The end piece 54 which forms the fluid circulation regulation zone 38, includes the valve 50.

[0144] As can be seen in [Fig.1], the actuator has an electrical connector 56 configured to allow the electrical connection of the actuator 36 to a power supply and to a control unit (not shown) of the actuator 36.

[0145] As is particularly visible in [Fig.5], the nozzle 54 is configured to be placed in the second cavity 12 of the fluidic connection block 6, said second cavity 12 forming a housing for the nozzle 54 of the actuator 36.

[0146] Two O-ring seals 58 are inserted between this end piece 54 and the housing of the fluidic connection block 6. The end piece 54 has a plurality of circular orifices 60, forming the fluid inlet 40.

[0147] The fluid inlet of the control zone 40 is arranged to receive the heat transfer fluid from the first circulation cavity 8 of the fluidic connection block 6.

[0148] The fluid outlet of the control zone 42 is arranged to deliver the heat transfer fluid 9 to the third circulation cavity 18.

[0149] The fluid inlet ports 60 of the nozzle 54 are arranged around a longitudinal axis Z of the nozzle 54. The nozzle 54 has a cylindrical wall 62 extending along its longitudinal axis Z. The ports 60 of the nozzle 54 forming the fluid inlet of the regulating zone 40 are formed on this cylindrical wall 62.

[0150] The nozzle 54 has an end wall 64 with a fluid passage which forms the fluid outlet from the regulation zone 42.

[0151] The fluid passage forming the fluid outlet is adjacent to a seat formed by the end wall 64, on which the valve 50 rests in the closed position.

[0152] Thus the fluid 9 enters the regulation zone 38 in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle, and leaves the regulation zone of the nozzle through the fluid outlet in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle 54.

[0153] In other words, in the regulation zone 38, the heat transfer fluid undergoes a substantially right-angle turn.

[0154] The second heat transfer fluid circulation cavity 12 of the fluidic connection block 6 is in the form of an annular cavity locally surrounding the nozzle 54 of the actuator 36.

[0155] Thus the fluid inlet of the regulating zone 40 communicates with the second circulation cavity 12 of the connecting block 6.

[0156] The valve 50 has a shaft 70 at the end of which is fitted a permanent magnet (not shown), said permanent magnet being configured to cooperate with electrical windings (not shown).

[0157] The valve 50 of the actuator 36 moves parallel to this longitudinal axis of the nozzle 54. The valve 50 of the actuator 36 has a needle 72 of the valve 50 arranged to move along the longitudinal axis of the valve 50 and to close the fluid outlet of the regulating zone 38. The longitudinal axis of the valve 50 coincides with the longitudinal axis of the nozzle 54. In [Fig. 5], it can be seen that the needle 72 closes the fluid outlet of the regulating zone 42.

[0158] The shaft 70 is configured to allow translation of the needle 72 of the valve 50 along a longitudinal direction. The shaft 70 has a threaded section 74 to allow helical and reversible movement of the needle 72 of the valve 50 towards the outlet of the regulating zone 42.

[0159] The outlet of the regulating zone 42 has a truncated conical shape configured to fit the shape of the needle 72 of the valve 50.

[0160] The heat transfer fluid 9 can be liquid, gaseous or an oil.

[0161] The heat transfer fluid 9 is used in an air conditioning system (not shown) and is for example a refrigerant fluid, in particular of type R 134a and R1234yf.
