Description

Title of the invention: Headrest for a motor vehicle seat

[0001] The invention relates to a headrest for a motor vehicle seat.

[0002] It is known to produce a headrest for a motor vehicle seat, said headrest comprising: • a frame intended to be mounted at the top of the back of said seat, • a first block mounted in vertical sliding on said frame, so as to allow its height adjustment, • a first device for locking said first block in the chosen adjustment position, • a second block mounted to slide longitudinally on said first block, so as to allow its longitudinal adjustment, said second block having a front face for supporting the head of an occupant of said seat, • a second device for locking said second block in the chosen adjustment position, said device comprising a latch mounted to slide vertically on said first block between a locking position and an unlocking position, said latch cooperating in the locking position with a longitudinal rack provided on said second block, • a spring means for actuating said latch in the locking position, • a transverse crosspiece mounted in transverse sliding on said first block, said crosspiece being arranged to be able to interact, from a locking position to an unlocking position, with said first locking device to bring it into the unlocked configuration, • a means of manually actuating said crosspiece to actuate it in the unlocked position.

[0003] With such an arrangement, the problem arises of ergonomically achieving the unlocking of the second locking device, in order to allow the longitudinal adjustment of the second block.

[0004] The aim of the invention is to propose an arrangement allowing this unlocking to be carried out ergonomically.

[0005] To this end, the invention proposes a headrest for a motor vehicle seat, said headrest comprising: • a frame intended to be mounted at the top of the back of said seat, • a first block mounted in vertical sliding on said frame, so as to allow its height adjustment, • a first device for locking said first block in the chosen adjustment position, • a second block mounted to slide longitudinally on said first block, so as to allow its longitudinal adjustment, said second block having a front face for supporting the head of an occupant of said seat, • a second device for locking said second block in the chosen adjustment position, said device comprising a latch mounted to slide vertically on said first block between a locking position and an unlocking position, said latch cooperating in the locking position with a longitudinal rack provided on said second block, • a spring means for actuating said latch in the locking position, • a transverse crosspiece mounted in transverse sliding on said first block, said crosspiece being arranged to be able to interact, from a locking position to an unlocking position, with said first locking device to bring it into the unlocked configuration, • a means of manually actuating said crosspiece to actuate it in the unlocked position,

[0006] said headrest further comprising: • a cam mounted to rotate along a longitudinal axis on said first block, • a first cam follower originating from said crosspiece, said follower cooperating with said cam to actuate it in rotation from an angular locking position to an angular unlocking position when said crosspiece is actuated towards its unlocking position, • a second cam follower originating from said latch, said follower cooperating with said cam so as to bring said latch into the unlocking position when said crosspiece is actuated towards its unlocking position.

[0007] In this description, the terms of positioning in space (front, top, transverse, vertical, longitudinal, etc.) are taken with reference to the headrest arranged in use in the vehicle, said vehicle extending longitudinally along its length (X axis), transversely along its width (Y axis) and vertically along its height (Z axis).

[0008] With the proposed arrangement, the unlocking of the two blocks is carried out simultaneously by a maneuver of the actuating means, which presents great ergonomics.

[0009] Other features and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, given with reference to the attached figures, in which:

[0010] [Fig-1] is a partial schematic perspective view of a headrest according to a realization,

[0011] [Fig.2a] and

[0012] [Fig.2b] are partial schematic views in vertical cross-section of the headrest shown in [Fig.l], the crosspiece being in the locking ([Fig.2a]) and unlocking ([Fig.2b]) position.

[0013] With reference to the figures, a headrest 1 for a motor vehicle seat is described, said headrest comprising: • a frame 2 - having two parallel metal rods 3 according to the embodiment shown - intended to be mounted at the top of the back of said seat, • a first block 4 - in particular made of molded plastic material - mounted to slide vertically on said frame, so as to allow its height to be adjusted, • a first device for locking said first block in the chosen adjustment position, • a second block 5 - in particular made of molded plastic material - mounted to slide longitudinally on said first block, so as to allow its longitudinal adjustment, said second block having a front face 6 for supporting the head of an occupant of said seat, • a second device for locking said second block in the chosen adjustment position, said device comprising a latch 7 mounted to slide vertically on said first block between a locking position and an unlocking position, said latch cooperating in the locking position with a longitudinal rack 8 provided on said second block, • a spring means, not shown, for actuating said latch in the locking position, • a transverse crosspiece 10 - in particular made of molded plastic material - mounted to slide transversely on said first block, said crosspiece being arranged to be able to interact, from a locking position to an unlocking position, with said first locking device to bring it into the unlocked configuration, • a manual actuation means 11 - in the form of a push button according to the embodiment shown - of said crosspiece to actuate it in the unlocked position,

[0014] said headrest further comprising: • a cam 12 mounted to rotate along a longitudinal axis 13 on said first block, • a first cam follower 14 originating from said crosspiece, said follower cooperating with said cam to actuate it in rotation from an angular locking position to an angular unlocking position when said crosspiece is actuated towards its unlocking position, • a second cam follower 15 originating from said latch, said follower cooperating with said cam so as to bring said latch into the unlocking position when said crosspiece is actuated towards its unlocking position.

[0015] In a manner not shown, the front face 6 may be covered with a cushion.

[0016] According to the embodiment shown, the first cam follower 14 is in the form of a lug projecting longitudinally from the crosspiece 10.

[0017] According to the embodiment shown, the cam 12 has a general V shape so that said cam has a first 16 and a second 17 branch, the first cam follower 14 bearing on said first branch and the second cam follower 15 bearing on said second branch, the longitudinal axis 13 passing at the intersection between said branches.

[0018] According to the embodiment shown, the second cam follower 15 is in the form of a plane inclined relative to the vertical, said inclined plane bearing on the free end 18 of the second branch 17.

[0019] According to the embodiment shown, the inclination of the inclined plane is defined so that the return of the latch 7 to the locking position under the action of the spring means actuates the cam 12 in rotation towards its angular locking position to bring it into abutment against an angular end-of-travel stop, not shown, provided on the first block 4, so as to avoid parasitic vibration noises when the vehicle is moving.

[0020] According to an embodiment not shown, the first locking device comprises • a plurality of locking notches arranged axially on at least one of the rods 3 (the term “axially” being considered with reference to the extension axis of said rod) so as to define a notched rod, • at least one locking projection mounted to move relative to the first block 4 between a locking position, where said projection is inserted into one of said notches, and an unlocking position, where said projection is withdrawn from said notch in order to release the sliding of said block.
