Description

Title of the invention: Storage system for a motor vehicle

[0001] The invention relates to a storage system for a motor vehicle, in particular a storage system for a front central area of the vehicle. The invention further relates to a vehicle comprising the storage system. The invention finally relates to a method of using the storage system.

[0002] In the automotive field, it is known to equip vehicles with storage systems, or organizers, capable of containing various objects such as telephones, cards, wallets and the like. The vehicles include in particular a central console, arranged between the front seats, which can, in addition, house other components specific to the vehicle, such as a handbrake handle.

[0003] Such consoles conventionally comprise one or more open or closed compartment(s). A disadvantage of the consoles of the prior art lies in the fact that they are bulky and the compartments proposed are impractical.

[0004] Furthermore, objects stored in the passenger compartment may be the target of thieves. A user must therefore, for security reasons, constantly sort and remove stored objects, particularly valuable objects, in the case of open compartments. Such a task can prove time-consuming in the case of large compartments storing a plurality of objects. Furthermore, in the event of forgetfulness, said objects may then be left in full view of everyone.

[0005] The invention falls within this context and aims to provide a storage system that is simple and practical to use, so as to allow the storage of various objects, particularly valuable ones, in a discreet and secure manner.

[0006] The invention relates to a storage system for a motor vehicle comprising a console delimiting at least one storage compartment, an armrest, connected to the base, delimiting an internal volume and comprising at least one opening opening onto said volume. The storage system further comprises: - at least one storage member configured to be movable relative to the armrest and comprising at least one storage location; and - at least one movement device arranged in the internal volume of the armrest and configured to receive the at least one storage member so as to allow translational movement, along a first direction, of said member between a storage position, in which it extends essentially in the internal volume, and a use position, in which it extends at least partly in an environment external to the armrest, the at least one storage compartment of the console being configured to receive at least a part of the at least one storage member in the use position.

[0007] In particular, the at least one storage compartment of the console extends at least partly in the continuity of the internal volume of the armrest along the first direction and / or in which the base comprises a means for guiding the at least one storage member arranged in the continuity of the at least one movement device and configured to cooperate with the at least one storage member when the latter is arranged in the position of use.

[0008] For example, the guide means comprises at least one stop member configured to form a stop for the at least one storage member along at least one direction transverse to the first direction when the latter is in the position of use.

[0009] In particular, the console comprises a recess configured to receive at least a portion of the armrest.

[0010] Optionally, the system further comprises at least one cover, arranged in the internal volume of the armrest and configured to cooperate with the at least one storage member so as to at least partially close the at least one storage location.

[0011] Optionally, the at least one storage member comprises a damping means configured to cooperate with the movement device.

[0012] According to a non-limiting exemplary embodiment, the at least one storage member comprises at least one gripping means.

[0013] Optionally comprising a pivoting device, the armrest being movably mounted on the base of the console so as to be able to be moved in rotation.

[0014] According to an exemplary embodiment comprising a plurality of mobile storage members.

[0015] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising at least one storage system according to the invention.

[0016] The invention finally relates to a method of using a storage system according to the invention comprising moving the at least one storage member from the storage position to the use position by translation along the first direction so that the at least one storage member extends at least partly into the at least one storage compartment when it is arranged in the use position.

[0024] [Fig.7] is a schematic representation of an exemplary embodiment of the storage member.

[0025] [Fig.8] a schematic representation of an exemplary embodiment of a vehicle equipped with the storage system.

[0026] Figures 1 to 8 schematically illustrate an exemplary embodiment of a storage system 1 for a motor vehicle 2.

[0027] The vehicle 2 considered may be of any type, for example a private vehicle, utility vehicle, a truck or a bus. According to alternative embodiments, the storage system 1 according to the invention may be implemented in different zones of the vehicle 2. Preferably, as described below, the storage system 1 may be implemented in a front central zone, arranged between front seats of the vehicle 2. Alternatively, the storage system 1 may be implemented in a rear central zone of the vehicle 2. Note that the vehicle 2 may comprise a plurality of storage systems 1.

[0028] By convention in the description below, the storage system 1 is defined with reference to a direct XYZ reference frame conventionally used in automobile design, represented in the figures requiring it. In such a reference frame, the front-rear direction of the vehicle 2 is defined by a longitudinal direction X. The direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and located in a plane parallel to the ground is called the transverse direction Y. The direction perpendicular to the directions X and Y is called the vertical direction Z.

[0029] Generally, the storage system 1 comprises a console 3, an armrest 4 and a movable storage member 5.

[0030] The console 3 comprises a base 31 delimiting at least one storage compartment 32. The base 31 may also be a base, a structure or a support. The base 31 comprises a plurality of flanks 33 delimiting the at least one storage compartment 32. Said compartment delimits a first volume, open on one side so as to make it accessible to a user. In particular, the base 31 comprises at least two opposite lateral flanks 33a, delimiting the base 31 along the direction transverse Y and at least two extreme flanks 33 delimiting the base 31 along the longitudinal direction X.

[0031] Preferably, the base 31 is made of a plastic material, in particular a material configured to promote the sliding of the mobile storage member 5 and / or the noiselessness of its movement. Optionally, the base 31 is made of a plurality of distinct materials, at least one material promoting the sliding of the mobile storage member 5 and / or the noiselessness of its movement being able to be integrated locally. For example, the base 31 and / or the console 3 comprises an elongated shape, in particular substantially cylindrical, extending along an extension axis 500.

[0032] The armrest 4 is connected to the base 31. It comprises a plurality of walls 41 delimiting an at least partly hollow structure. In other words, the plurality of walls 41 delimits an internal volume 40. Said walls 41 may be structural, trim and / or lining walls 41. According to a non-limiting example, the armrest 4 comprises a plurality of side walls 41a, delimiting the armrest 4 along the transverse direction Y. The armrest 4 also comprises a first, upper wall 41b, which may for example be an armrest skin or an armrest trim, and a second, lower wall 41c, opposite the first wall 41b along the vertical direction Z, which may for example be rigid and / or a lining.

[0033] The armrest 4 also comprises at least one opening 42 opening onto the internal volume 40. In other words, said opening 42 allows access to the internal volume 40. The at least one opening 42 may be arranged at an extreme zone of the armrest 4, so as to allow access to the internal volume 40 from the front and / or from the rear. In this case and in the description below, the armrest 4 comprises a single opening 42 arranged at a front extreme zone of the armrest 4. According to alternatives not shown, the armrest 4 comprises a single opening 42 arranged at a rear extreme zone or a plurality of openings 42, at least one opening 42 being arranged at the front extreme zone while at least one separate opening 42 is arranged at the rear extreme zone.

[0034] According to a particular, preferred embodiment, the armrest 4 is mounted to move relative to the base 31 of the console 3. For example, the armrest 4 is mounted to pivot by means of a pivoting device, not shown, so as to be able to be moved in rotation about an axis of rotation. In particular, the axis of rotation of the armrest 4 is orthogonal to the extension axis 500 of the console 3, for example so as to be parallel to the transverse direction Y.

[0035] According to an alternative embodiment, the armrest 4 is mounted fixed relative to the base 31 of the console 3.

[0036] Optionally, the console 3 comprises a recess 34 configured to receive at least a portion of the armrest 4. In this way, the armrest 4 can extend at least partly in the continuity of the base 31 along at least one direction, for example along the longitudinal direction X. Here, “in the continuity” is understood to mean that the armrest 4 and at least a portion of the console 3 are crossed by at least one axis extending along the direction considered, namely here the longitudinal direction. For example, in the example illustrated, the armrest 4 and the console 3 are inscribed in an elongated shape, partly cylindrical or substantially cylindrical.

[0037] The at least one storage member 5 is configured to be arranged and moved in the internal volume 40 of the armrest 4. In the description below, the storage system 1 comprises a single storage member 5. It is nevertheless understood that the invention extends to a storage system 1 comprising a plurality of storage members 5.

[0038] Generally, the storage member 5 has the shape of a tray, a box or a drawer comprising at least one storage location 51. The storage member 5 has a structure open on one side, in particular a side configured to be turned towards the first wall 41b of the armrest 4. The storage member 5 comprises a plurality of edges 52 delimiting a recess in which the at least one storage location 51 is arranged. Additionally, the storage member 5 comprises at least two lateral edges 53, opposite along the transverse direction Y, arranged on either side of the recess and each connected to at least one of the edges 52. According to an exemplary embodiment, the storage member 5 has, for example, a stepped structure. In particular, the lateral edges 53 are inscribed in a first, common plane, while at least part of a bottom 54 of the depression is inscribed in a second, distinct plane.

[0039] The storage member 5 comprises a single storage location 51 or a plurality of storage locations 51 having, for example, various shapes. Each storage location 51 forms a cavity relative to the plurality of edges 52 and / or relative to the rims 53 of the storage member 5. Such a principle makes it possible to optimize the functionality of said member in order to ensure the organized storage of various objects that a user may possess. In a non-limiting manner, the at least one storage location 51 may be square or rectangular, in particular in order to contain cards, a telephone, a means of location or any various objects. Alternatively or additionally, the at least one storage location 51 is circular, in particular in order to hold a drink such as a cup or a bottle.

[0040] As indicated above, the storage member 5 is mounted to move within the armrest 4. In order to allow the storage member 5 to be moved, the system storage system 1 comprises at least one movement device 6 arranged in the internal volume 40 of the armrest 4 and configured to cooperate and / or receive the at least one storage member 5. In particular, the at least one movement device 6 is configured to cooperate with the lateral edges 53 of the storage member 5. For example, the at least one movement device 6 comprises a pair of rails or gutters. In this case, the storage system 1 comprises a single movement device 6 comprising a pair of rails, each of said rails being configured to receive and cooperate with one of the lateral edges 53 so as to allow the movement of the storage member 5 according to a translational movement T1 along a first direction 100. In particular, the first direction 100 is parallel, or substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction X.

[0041] According to a preferred embodiment, the movement device 6 is attached and fixed to at least one of the walls 41 of the armrest 4, in particular by means of fixing means, not shown, such as screws, clips and / or glue. For example, the movement device 6 is directly or indirectly fixed to the first wall 41b and / or to the side walls 41a of the armrest 4. Such a principle allows the storage member 5 to be integrated at lower cost into armrests of variable structure and dimensions.

[0042] According to an alternative not shown, the movement device 6 and at least one of the walls 41 of the armrest 4 form a single-piece assembly.

[0043] The movement device 6 allows the movement according to a translational movement T1, along a first direction 100, of the storage member 5. The same applies when the storage system 1 comprises a plurality of storage members 5, as further explained below. The storage member 5 is thus able to be moved between a storage position, corresponding to a nominal position in which it extends essentially, or even entirely, in the internal volume 40, as illustrated in [Fig. 1], and at least one use position, illustrated in [Fig. 2] or 3, in which it extends at least partly in an environment external to the armrest. Here, “essentially” is understood to mean that at least 50% of the surface of the storage member 5 extends in the internal volume 40 in the storage position.

[0044] Particularly according to the invention, the at least one storage compartment 32 of the console 3 is configured to receive at least a portion of the at least one storage member 5 when the latter is arranged in the use position. The storage member 5 is thus partially, or even essentially or even entirely, arranged in the at least one storage compartment 32 when it is in the use position. In particular, the storage member 5 is able to be arranged in an extreme use position, shown in [Fig. 3], in which it extends essentially, or even entirely, in the at least one storage compartment 32 of the console 3. Also, the storage member 5 is able to be arranged in one or more intermediate use position(s), an example of which is shown in [Fig.2], between the storage position and the extreme use position, in which the storage member 5 then extends partly into the at least one storage compartment 32 and partly into the internal volume 40.

[0045] Thus, when the storage member 5 is in the storage position, any object that it contains is kept out of sight and arranged in the internal volume 40. Moving the storage member 5 into one of the use positions allows it to be extracted at least partially from the internal volume 40 in order to give a user access to the contents arranged in the at least one storage location 51. In the use positions, the storage member 5 also advantageously allows the contents of the at least one storage compartment 32 of the console 3 to be concealed.

[0046] For example, the dimensions of the storage member 5 are adapted according to the dimensions of the at least one storage compartment 32. In particular, the storage member 5 has a height, or depth, strictly less than a height of the at least one storage compartment 32. Here, height or depth is understood to mean a dimension measured along a second direction 200, orthogonal to the first direction 100 and here parallel to the vertical direction Z. In this way, when the storage member 5 is arranged in the extreme use position or in one of the intermediate use positions, various objects can be stored in the at least one storage compartment 32, below the storage member 5, and can be at least partly concealed by the storage member 5.

[0047] Optionally, the storage member 5 has a length less than or equal to a length of the at least one storage compartment 32. Here, length is understood to mean a dimension measured along the first direction 100 or the extension axis 500, here parallel to the longitudinal direction X.

[0048] Figures 1 to 4 illustrate a particular, preferred embodiment of the invention, in which the at least one storage compartment 32 of the console 3 extends at least partly in continuity with the internal volume 40 of the armrest along at least one direction, particularly along the first direction 100. Here, “in continuity” is therefore understood to mean that the at least one storage compartment 32 and the internal volume 40 extend opposite each other, whether or not close to each other, and are crossed by at least one same axis.

[0049] In particular, the base 31 comprises a guide means 35 for guiding the storage member 5 arranged in the continuity of the movement device 6 along the first direction 100. Similar to what was defined previously, “in the continuity” means that the guide means 35 extends opposite at least one part of the movement device 6, preferably at a non-zero distance from it. here, so as to be crossed by the same axis. The guide means 35 is configured to cooperate with the at least one storage member 5 when the latter is arranged in one of the positions of use. The guide means 35 is selected from a pair of rails, gutters, grooves, slides or edges configured to cooperate with the storage member 5. Optionally, as indicated above, at least the guide means 35 is made of a material promoting the sliding of the mobile storage member 5 and / or the noiselessness of its movement. The rest of the base 31 can then be made of a separate material.

[0050] In this case, in the non-limiting example illustrated in [Fig. 6], the guide means 35 comprises a pair of slides or grooves, each of said slides or grooves extending in the continuity of one of the rails of the movement device 6. In particular, the pair of slides or grooves is configured to cooperate with the edges 53 of the storage member 5. In this way, in the example illustrated, each of the slides or grooves of the guide means 35 extends in the continuity of one of the rails of the movement device 6.

[0051] Preferably and advantageously, the guide means 35 and at least one of the sides 33 of the base 31 form a single-piece assembly. Alternatively, the guide means 35 is attached and fixed in the console 3, in particular in the at least one storage compartment 32 or at the level thereof.

[0052] Optionally, the guide means 35 comprises at least one stop member 36 configured to form a stop for the at least one storage member 5 along at least one direction transverse to the first direction 100 when the latter is in one of the positions of use. For example, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 4, when the guide means 35 comprises slides or grooves, an upper part of the guide means 35 extending along the first direction 100 and / or along the second direction 200 can form a stop for the storage member 5 along the second direction 200, parallel to the vertical direction Z. Such a principle then makes it possible to maintain the storage member 5 within the storage system 1.Alternatively or additionally, a lateral part of the guide means 35 is configured to form a stop for the storage member 5 along a third direction 300, orthogonal to the first direction 100 and to the second direction 200, that is to say here parallel to the transverse direction Y. Such a principle ensures the maintenance and the adapted movement of the storage member 5 at the level of the console 3 and along the first direction 100.

[0053] When the guide means 35 is formed by an edge of the base 31, in particular a flat part, delimiting the at least one storage compartment 32, the storage member 5 is moved by sliding in contact with said edges. Similar to what has been indicated previously, a lateral part of the guide means 35 can be configured to form a stop for the storage member 5 along the second direction 200, parallel to the transverse direction Y. Unlike the case of slides or grooves, such a guide means 35 is devoid of a stop preventing the movement of the storage member 5 along the third direction 300. In such an alternative embodiment, the storage member 5 is then able to be extracted from the base 31 of the console 3 and from the at least one storage compartment 32 so as to be removable.

[0054] Optionally, the storage system 1 further comprises at least one cover 7 arranged in the internal volume 40 of the armrest 4. The cover 7 is in particular configured to cooperate with the storage member 5 so as to at least partially close the at least one storage location 51. For example, the cover 7 has a partly planar or substantially planar structure configured to extend opposite the at least one storage compartment 32, for example along the second direction 200 or the vertical direction Z, when the storage member 5 is in the storage position. Such a principle makes it possible to prevent objects arranged in the at least one storage compartment 32 from falling out of the storage member 5 within the internal volume 40. According to an alternative, non-limiting example, the cover 7 has an inverted “U” profile configured to receive at least a portion of the storage member 5.Such a principle makes it possible to optimize the closing of the storage member 5 by preventing the fall of objects stored at the level of lateral zones of said member.

[0055] The cover 7 is fixedly mounted within the armrest 4, for example at least one of the walls 41, by means of known fixing elements 71, such as screws, clips or glue. For example, the cover 7 is mounted on the first, upper wall 41b of the armrest 4. The cover 7 thus remains fixed within the armrest 4 when the storage member 5 is moved and the latter moves relative to said cover 7.

[0056] Optionally, the moving device 6 is fixed to said cover 7. In this way, the moving device 6 is indirectly mounted to at least one of the walls 41 of the armrest 4 and the mounting of the storage system 1 can be carried out more simply.

[0057] Optionally, the storage system 1 comprises a support element 8 configured to hold the storage member 5 when it is in the storage position and / or when it is moved. The support element 8 comprises a flat surface or is at least partly complementary in shape to the storage member 5. It cooperates with a lower part of the storage member 5. In this way, when the system according to the invention comprises the cover 7, the storage member 5 is at least partly interposed between said cover 7 and the support element 8 along the second direction 200 or the vertical direction Z. Optionally, the support element is configured to support other components of the storage system, such as a locking member of the pin type, not shown, configured to lock the position of the armrest when the latter is pivotally mounted.

[0058] Optionally but preferably, the storage member 5 comprises a damping means 9 configured to cooperate with the movement device 6. For example, the damping means 9 is a cord or a strip made of a plastic material, such as rubber or a flexible material configured to promote sliding of the movable storage member 5 and noiselessness. For example, the damping means 9 is arranged on the storage member 5 so as to be interposed between the latter and at least a portion of the movement device 6 along at least one direction. In this case, the damping means 9 is a pair of slats fixed on the edges 53 of the storage member 5 so as to be interposed between said edges 53 and a part of the rails of the displacement device 6 along the second direction 200. The damping means 9 extends over all or part of the length of the storage member 5.It advantageously makes it possible to reduce friction and vibrations when the storage member 5 is moved between two distinct positions. Also, it makes it easier to move the storage member 5 from the moving device 6 of the armrest 4 to the guiding means 35 of the base 31 and vice versa.

[0059] Optionally, the storage member 5 advantageously comprises at least one gripping means 55 making it easier to handle it between the different positions. For example, the gripping means 55 has the shape of a projection arranged in one of the edges 52 of the storage member 5 configured to be arranged at the opening 42 when said member is in the storage position. Alternatively or additionally, the gripping means 55 comprises a hollow making it easier to insert the fingers of a user's hand.

[0060] Optionally again, a first face 410 of the first wall 41b of the armrest 4 or the cover 6 comprises a graining 43. The first face 410 here corresponds to the face of the first wall 41b facing the internal volume 40 and the storage member 5 when the latter extends into said volume. The graining 43 is in particular arranged at or near the opening 42 and makes it possible to optimize the grip of a user on the armrest 4 in order to simplify its handling when the latter is pivotally mounted as described above. In particular, such a graining 43 is arranged opposite the gripping means 55 along the second direction 200.

[0061] As indicated above, the storage system 1 according to the invention may also comprise a plurality of movable storage members 5. It is understood that the preceding description, in particular relating to the movement device 6, to the cover 7, by means of damping 9, by means of gripping 55 or by the cooperation of the at least one storage member 5 with the base 31 of the console 3 then applies mutatis mutandis. Also, the storage system 1 can then comprise a plurality of movement devices 6, in particular as many movement devices 6 as storage members 5.

[0062] The different storage members 5 are then arranged one after the other along a direction considered, preferably at a non-zero distance from each other.

[0063] According to an exemplary embodiment, not shown, the storage system 1 comprises a plurality of storage members 5 arranged one above the other, that is to say arranged so as to form a stack along the second direction 200 or the vertical direction Z. Each storage member 5 is then able to cooperate with a movement device 6 which is specific to it.

[0064] The storage members 5 can then be configured to be moved along the same direction of the first direction 100, through a common opening 42 or separate openings 42. In such an example, the base 31 optionally comprises a plurality of guide means 35, each of said means being configured to cooperate with one of the storage members 5 when the latter extends into the extreme use position or one of the intermediate use positions specific to it.

[0065] Alternatively, the armrest 4 comprises a plurality of openings 42, at least one opening 42 being arranged on each of the extreme walls 41, opposite along the longitudinal direction X. In this way, said storage members 5 are able to be moved towards their extreme use position along a direction opposite the first direction 100. Thus, within the vehicle 2, one of the storage members 5 is then able to be moved forward, so as to cooperate with the console 3 and the at least one storage compartment 32 as described previously, while the other of said storage members 5 is able to be moved towards the rear of the vehicle 2.

[0066] Additionally or alternatively, a similar principle can be implemented for storage members 5 arranged next to each other along the third direction 300 or the transverse direction Y. A plurality of movement means 6 are then arranged next to each other and are at least partly interposed between the adjacent storage members 5. The storage members 5 can thus be moved independently of each other. Similar to what has been explained previously for the vertical stacking of the plurality of storage members 5, the storage members 5 are optionally configured so as to be moved to their extreme position of use along the same direction of the first direction 100 or along opposite directions. The preceding description therefore applies here mutatis mutandis. For such an exemplary embodiment, the guide means 35 of the base 31 optionally comprises an intermediate flank arranged in the at least one storage compartment 32 so as to partially support at least one of the storage members 5.

[0067] According to yet another exemplary embodiment, alternative or additional, at least two storage members 5 are stacked along the first direction 100, that is to say they are arranged one after the other along this direction. Optionally, these storage members 5 are configured to cooperate with the same movement device 6. Alternatively, they each cooperate with a movement device 6 which is specific to them. The preceding description, relating to the direction of movement of said storage members 5 and the number of openings 42 required applies here mutatis mutandis. The storage members 5 are then able to be moved to their extreme use position along a direction opposite the first direction 100 and the armrest 4 comprises a plurality of openings 42, at least one opening 42 being arranged on each of the extreme walls 41.

[0068] It is understood that the different embodiments of the storage system 1 comprising a plurality of storage members 5 can be combined with each other.

[0069] The present invention also extends to a method of using a storage system 1 according to the invention. As illustrated in Figures 1 to 3, such a method comprises moving the at least one storage member 5 from the storage position to the use position by translation T1 along the first direction 100 so that the at least one storage member 5 extends at least partly into the at least one storage compartment 32 when it is arranged in one of the use positions. In this way, the at least one storage location 51 is then made accessible to a user while the at least one storage compartment 32 is at least partly covered by the at least one storage member 5. The storage member 5 then advantageously conceals at least part of the contents of the at least one storage compartment 32.

[0070] It is understood that the description relating to the storage system 1 according to the invention extends to the method of using said system.
