AI Technical Summary
Existing fire-resistant doors struggle to integrate armor functions effectively, particularly when renovating existing doors, as metal coatings conduct heat well and existing solutions fail to provide comprehensive protection while maintaining aesthetic and ecological considerations.
The solution involves an armored fire door configuration with a wooden base panel, a fire-resistant magnesium silicate panel bonded with incombustible glue between the internal face of the base panel and the metal shielding, and a non-combustible wool seal at the edges to create a thermal barrier.
This configuration effectively delays temperature rise and combustion of the wooden base panel, achieving a flame-resistant classification of at least 30 minutes (E30) while maintaining the door's aesthetic and ecological integrity.

Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Renovated fire-resistant armored door Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a fire-resistant armoured door. The invention will find more particularly an application for the integration of fire-resistant and armouring functions into an existing door. The invention applies more particularly to the renovation market. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] The principle of a fire door is to limit the risk of fire spreading from one apartment to other apartments, particularly to the corridors of the common areas. It is therefore sought to limit the diffusion of heat towards the core of the door. However, armoured doors have a metal coating which conducts heat particularly well towards the core of the door.
[0003] In addition, a solution is sought that can be applied to existing doors, generally made of wood, for the purpose of saving money, but also as part of an ecological and aesthetic approach whose objective is to use what already exists as much as possible.
[0004] There is therefore a need to propose an armored fire door which resolves all or part of these drawbacks. SUMMARY
[0005] To achieve this objective, according to one embodiment, an armored fire door is provided comprising a frame and at least one opening leaf, the opening leaf comprises a base panel, for example made of wood, comprising an external face intended to form an external face of the fire door and an internal face opposite the external face, the internal face and the external face being connected to each other by an edge, at least part of the internal face and at least part of the edge being covered, preferably entirely, by a metal armoring coating having a first face arranged facing the base panel and a second face opposite the first face, characterized in that the opening comprises a fire-resistant magnesium silicate panel bonded with an incombustible glue between the internal face of the base panel and the first face of the metal shielding covering and in that at least part of the edge of the opening comprises a non-combustible wool seal arranged between the base panel and the first face of the metal shielding covering.
[0006] This configuration ensures that the wooden base panel is protected to delay the rise in temperature and its combustion despite the presence of the metal shielding coating. Indeed, the synergy between the fire-resistant panel glued with the incombustible glue which allows both to reduce the temperature and prevent combustion and the non-combustible wool seal which provides a thermal barrier in sensitive and less accessible areas such as the edges of the openings allows for a renovated and easily installed armored fire door with very good results. The door according to the invention is at least a flame-resistant door, El fire-resistant and advantageously with a flame resistance of 30 minutes, i.e. an E30 classification.
[0007] Advantageously, the synergy of the wool and the insulating panel makes it possible to ensure optimal protection of at least three sides of the door.
[0008] According to one possibility, the fire door comprises two openings.
[0009] According to another aspect, the invention relates to a method for renovating a door, preferably an existing one, for closing an area to form an armored fire door as described above: (the area may for example be an apartment, a house) - Supply of an existing door having a base panel, for example made of wood, comprising an external face intended to form an exterior face of the armoured fire door and an internal face opposite the external face, - Application of a magnesium silicate fire-resistant panel on the internal face of the base panel using a non-combustible glue, - Positioning of a non-combustible wool seal on at least part of the edge of the base panel, - Positioning a metal shielding coating (500) on at least a portion of the internal face (303,403) of the base panel and on at least a portion of the edge.
[0010] This process makes it possible to improve the existing door with shielding and fire-resistant functions while retaining the external face in contact with the exterior of the area, therefore visible from the outside with the initial aesthetic. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0039] The term "fire barrier" means the resistance of an element of the door or the door to fire. In the present invention, the term fire barrier includes the term flame barrier. Flame barrier is understood as not allowing flames and smoke to pass through for a determined time according to standardized test conditions. Fire barrier is understood as not allowing flames and smoke to pass through, in addition to not allowing heat to pass through for a determined time according to standardized test conditions.
[0040] The term "incombustible" means that which does not catch fire or catches fire with difficulty during fires that may occur under the conditions of accidental fires in buildings. Typically, an incombustible material within the scope of the present invention does not catch fire for a predetermined time, for example at least 30 minutes, when subjected to a temperature of 300°C, preferably 600°C, preferably 800°C, more preferably 860°C.
[0041] The present invention relates to a door 1 having both fire-resistant and / or flame-resistant and armoured properties.
[0042] The door 1 according to the invention comprises a frame 200 and at least one opening 300, 400. An opening 300, 400 is a movable part of the door also called a leaf. A frame 200 corresponds to the frame, that is to say a fixed part of a door 1 which is integral with the masonry.
[0043] The door 1 comprises at least one opening 300 and, according to one possibility, two openings 300 and 400.
[0044] Each opening 300, 400 is fixed to the frame 200, advantageously by hinges 5. At least one opening 300, 400 comprises a handle 6 which can be associated with a lock making it possible to operate the closing and opening of the opening 300, 400.
[0045] Preferably, the door 1 is intended to delimit an interior zone corresponding for example to an apartment, or the interior of a house, a warehouse, an exterior zone corresponding for example to a corridor of common areas or the exterior of a house.
[0046] The door 1 has a lower face 101 and an outer face 102. The inner face 101 is understood to mean the face of the opening 300, 400 intended to be arranged on the inner side of the door 1, that is to say facing the inner zone. Conversely, by external face 102 is meant the face of the opening 300, 400 intended to be arranged on the external side of the door 1, that is to say facing the external zone.
[0047] Each opening 300, 400 comprises a base panel 301, 401, advantageously made of wood.
[0048] By wood is meant solid wood, plywood, chipboard or a mixture or assembly thereof.
[0049] According to an advantage of the invention, the base panel 301, 401 is an already existing opening that it is desired to optimize to give it fire-resistant and shielding functions.
[0050] The base panel 301, 401 has an external face 302, 402 and an internal face 303, 403 opposite the external face 302, 402.
[0051] The term “internal face 303, 403” refers to the face of the base panel 301, 401 intended to be arranged on the inside of the door 1, i.e. facing the inside area. Conversely, the term “external face 302, 402” refers to the face of the base panel 300, 401 intended to be arranged on the outside of the door 1, i.e. facing the outside area.
[0052] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is desired to maintain the aesthetics of the base panel 301, 401 in the outer zone. The outer face 302, 402 of the base panel 301, 401 is therefore intended to form the outer face 101 of the door and to be arranged facing the outer zone. It may possibly be envisaged to have an additional coating on this outer face 302, 402 depending on technical and / or aesthetic needs.
[0053] The external face 302, 402 and the internal face 303, 403 are connected to each other, advantageously at their periphery, by an edge 304, 404. The edge 304, 404 corresponds to the narrowest faces of the door 1.
[0054] The edge 304, 404 is defined as comprising four edges: an inner edge 304a, 404a, an outer edge 304b, 404b, an upper edge 304c, 404c, and a lower edge 304d, 404d. The lower edge 304d, 404d is intended to be facing the ground and in particular a door threshold, the upper edge 304c, 404c is opposite the lower edge 304d, 404d and therefore the ground. The inner edge 304a, 404a is understood as the edge of the opening 300,400 on the side of its attachment to the frame 200, that is to say in particular on the side of the hinges 5. The outer edge 304b, 404b is opposite the inner edge 304a, 404a and is understood as the edge of the opening 300,400 on the side of the handle 6 or the lock.
[0055] Advantageously, the base panel 301, 401 has a substantially parallelepiped shape with possibly rounded edges on certain sides.
[0056] The frame 200 comprises a frame 201 advantageously made of wood. Most commonly, the frame 201 is formed of two vertical uprights 205, preferably entially spaced and advantageously connected at their upper ends by a crosspiece 206 advantageously arranged horizontally. The frame 201 may comprise a threshold, not shown in the figures, connecting the lower ends of the two vertical uprights 205. The frame 200 comprises an internal face 202, an internal face 203 and an edge 204. The edge 204 is intended to face the opening 300, 400, while the internal face 203 is intended to be arranged facing the internal zone. The internal face 202 is intended to face the external face 102 of the door 1, that is to say advantageously facing the external face 303, 403 of the base panel 301, 401. The internal face 202 acts as a stop for the opening 300, 400. The internal face 202 and the internal face 203 extend along parallel planes and are connected to each other by the edge 204 which extends transversely between the two parallel planes.
[0057] According to the invention, the opening 300,400 comprises a metal shielding coating 500. The metal coating 500 has a first face 501 opposite a second face 502. The metal shielding coating 500 is intended to cover at least a portion of the internal face 303,403 of the base panel 301,401 of the opening 300,400 and advantageously at least a portion of the field 304,404 of the base panel 301,401 of the opening 300,400.
[0058] Advantageously, the metal shielding coating 500 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the internal face 303, 403 of the base panel 301, 401.
[0059] Advantageously, the metal shielding coating 500 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the field 304, 404 of the base panel 301, 401. Preferably, the metal shielding coating 500 at least partially covers the inner edge 304a, 404a, the outer edge 304b, 404b. According to one illustrated possibility, the metal shielding coating 500 does not cover the upper edge 304c, 404c, and the lower edge 304d, 404d.
[0060] According to the invention, the frame 200 comprises a metal frame shielding coating 5000. The metal frame shielding coating 5000 has a first face 5001 opposite a second face 5002. The metal frame shielding coating 5000 is intended to cover at least a portion of the frame 201 of the frame 200. Advantageously, the metal frame shielding coating 5000 covers at least the edge 204 of the frame 201 and preferably at least a portion of the inner face 203 and even more preferably at least a portion of the inner face 202 of the frame 201.
[0061] Advantageously, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the inner face 203 of the frame 201. Preferably, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least less in part the inner face 203 of each vertical upright 205 and of the crosspiece 206.
[0062] Advantageously, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the edge 204 of the frame 201. Preferably, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least in part the edge 204 of each vertical upright 205 and the edge 204 the crosspiece 206.
[0063] Advantageously, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the internal face 202 of the frame 201. Preferably, the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covers at least in part the internal face 202 of each vertical upright 205 and of the crosspiece 206.
[0064] The metal shielding coating 500 and the metal frame shielding coating 5000 are advantageously identical, but may possibly be different, particularly in terms of material or thickness. For example, the metal shielding coating 500 and the metal frame shielding coating 5000 comprise, for example, a metal plate chosen from steel or stainless steel and with a thickness of between 1 mm and 3 mm.
[0065] According to the invention, the opening 300, 400 of the door 1 comprises a fire-resistant panel 2 advantageously made of magnesium silicate. The fire-resistant panel 2 comprises a first face 21 and a second face 22 opposite each other. Advantageously, the fire-resistant panel 2 is arranged between the internal face 303, 403 of the base panel 301, 401 and the first face 501 of the metal shielding coating 500. Preferably, the first face 21 of the fire-resistant panel 2 is arranged facing the base panel 301, 401 while the second face 22 of the fire-resistant panel 2 is arranged facing the first face 501 of the metal shielding coating 500. The fire-resistant panel 2 makes it possible in particular to limit the spread of fire thanks to the magnesium silicate which is a good fire insulator in that it becomes powdery without catching fire when heated.
[0066] According to one possibility, the fire-resistant panel 2 covers at least 90%, preferably 100% of the internal face 303, 404 of the base panel 301, 401.
[0067] According to one embodiment, the fire-resistant panel 2 is glued to the internal face 303, 403 of the base panel 301, 401 and / or to the first face 501 of the metal shielding coating 500 by an incombustible glue intended to slow the spread of the fire. For example, the incombustible glue is silicate-based. The glue may be a Pyrocol® from the company Odice. The incombustible glue allows in particular during a fire, that is to say when it is heated above a critical temperature, to change state and release steam which moistens the base panel 301, 401 particularly in wood and which locally reduces the temperature, limiting the spread of fire.
[0068] According to one possibility, the incombustible glue covers at least 90%, preferably 100%, of the fire-resistant panel 2, preferably one face 21, 22 of said fire-resistant panel 2. According to one possibility, the fire-resistant panel 2 comprises at least 150g of glue / m2, preferably at least 200g / m2 more preferably 250g / m2.
[0069] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the door 1 comprises a non-combustible wool seal 3. The non-combustible wool seal 3 is for example based on glass wool, rock wool, glass fiber, refractory ceramic fiber, or alkaline earth silicate such as for example known under the brand SuperWool®.
[0070] The incombustible wool seal 3 acts as a thermal insulator between the metal shielding covering 500, 5000 and the wooden base panel 301 and / or the wooden frame 200. The incombustible wool seal 3 prevents the heat from the fire easily transmitted to the metal shielding covering 500, 5000 from being transmitted to the base panel, particularly made of wood.
[0071] The incombustible wool seal 3 is advantageously arranged on at least a portion of the edge 304, 404 of the opening 300, 400. Preferably, the incombustible wool seal 3 is arranged between the base panel 301, 401 and the first face 501 of the metal shielding coating 500. Preferably, the incombustible wool seal 3 covers at least in part the inner edge 304a, 404a, the outer edge 304b, 404b. According to one possibility, the incombustible wool seal 3 may be present on the upper edge 304c, 404c, and / or the lower edge 304d, 404d of the base panel 301, 401.
[0072] According to one possibility, the incombustible wool seal 3 covers at least 80% of at least one of the inner edges 304a, 404a, outer 304b, 404b, upper 304c, 404c, and / or lower 304d, 404d where it is present. Preferably, the incombustible wool seal 3 covers at least 80% of the width of said edge, preferably 100%. The width being defined as the transverse dimension to the length. The length being measured along a longitudinal dimension of the door 1 and more commonly along the vertical.
[0073] Preferably, the door 1 comprises, as an alternative or complementary manner to the incombustible wool seal 3 present on the edge 304, 404 of the opening 300, 400, a combustible wool seal 3 present on the edge 204 of the frame 201 of the fixed frame 200.
[0074] According to one possibility, the incombustible wool seal 3 covers at least 70% of the edge 204. Preferably, the incombustible wool seal 3 covers at least 80% of the width of said edge 204, preferably 100%. The width being defined as the dimension transverse to the length. The length being measured according to a longitudinal dimension of the door 1 and more commonly according to the vertical.
[0075] According to a preferred embodiment, the door 1 comprises an intumescent seal 4. The intumescent seal 4 is configured to expand under the effect of heat so as to fill a space in order to limit the spread of fire. Advantageously, an intumescent seal 104 is arranged between the opening 300, 400 and the frame 200 or between two openings 300, 400 in the embodiment in which the door 1 comprises two openings 300, 400.
[0076] According to a preferred possibility, when the intumescent seal 4 is arranged between the frame 200 and an opening 300, 400, it is preferentially arranged on the frame 200. This arrangement ensures optimized durability over time and a desired aesthetic appearance. Advantageously, the intumescent seal 4 is arranged on the edge 204 of the frame 201 of the frame 200. The intumescent seal 4 is advantageously fixed to the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000, in particular on its second face 5002, covering the edge 204. The intumescent seal 4 is advantageously arranged between the edge 204 of the frame 201 of the frame 200 and the edge 304, 404 of the opening 300, 400. More precisely between the second face 5002 to the metal shielding coating of the frame 5000 covering the edge 204 and the second face 502 to the metal shielding coating 500 covering the edge 304, 404.
