Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: NATURAL FACE-LIFTING MASK FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The invention relates to a two-part composition for application to the skin in order to form a high-resistance, rinse-off lifting and anti-aging gel mask.
[0002] CONTEXT OF THE INVENTION.
[0003] The skin produces less collagen and elastin as it ages. For example, after the age of twenty, a person (human) produces about one percent less collagen in the skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. Inevitably, brown spots, redness, wrinkles, crow's feet, age spots, bags under the eyes, and similar signs may begin to appear.
[0004] Consumers often wish to improve the appearance of these age-related skin imperfections and seek both instant and lasting results. Many consumer products and procedures are dedicated to concealing and reducing skin blemishes and imperfections. Some employ medical procedures, while others include makeup, foundations, and masks, as well as topical products to provide hydration, such as lotions and creams. Some of these products contain active ingredients, for example, niacinamide, which help repair and rejuvenate the skin over time, as well as peptides and plant extracts. Unfortunately, these products and procedures have drawbacks. For example, after removing makeup-like solutions, the skin appears the same as before the makeup was applied.Furthermore, makeup products are often noticeable, offer minimal textural benefits, and have no lasting long-term effect on the skin, making them less appealing as a solution for anti-aging skin. Similarly, moisturizers do not address wrinkles and fine lines, at least not in the short term. And, of course, many consumers cannot afford or prefer not to undergo such drastic cosmetic procedures. Moreover, formulating environmentally friendly cosmetic products—that is, products whose design and development take environmental concerns into account—is becoming a major priority in addressing global challenges. Therefore, it is essential to offer more sustainable compositions, preparation processes, and / or ingredients to meet these environmental challenges. In this context, it is important to develop new cosmetic compositions with a better carbon footprint, in particular by promoting the use of renewable raw materials and / or with a . good index of natural and / or natural origin and more particularly, of plant origin while reducing the use of petrochemical compounds.
[0005] Attempts have been made to develop new categories of products to improve the appearance of the skin without the drawbacks of existing products and procedures. One such family of products can generally be classified as "adhesive contractile film-forming agents." Film-forming agents are chemical compositions that, when applied to the skin, leave a flexible, cohesive, and continuous coating. A specific group of film-forming agents are also adherent to the skin and contractile. Unfortunately, these film-forming products, while offering dramatic and instant results, quickly lose their skin-tightening effect, lose their elasticity, and may whiten, crack, and peel.Furthermore, such products may include harsh ingredients such as peptides and plant extracts that can be irritating, especially when combined with firming and tightening agents, and may be difficult to apply to the skin.
[0006] The present disclosure proposes an improved skin-firming product that is easy to apply, can be removed with water, does not cause skin irritation and, once removed, provides immediate short-term firming and longer-term skin benefits. BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The pH can be corrected to the desired value by adding a base (organic or inorganic) to the cosmetic composition, for example ammonia or a primary, secondary or tertiary (poly)amine, such as monoethanolamine, diethanamine, triethanolamine, isopropanolamine or 1,3-propanediamine, or alternatively by adding an inorganic or organic acid, advantageously a carboxylic acid, such as, for example, citric acid.
[0054] As disclosed herein, the pH can also be chosen by varying the proportions of the gelling portion comprising at least one cross-linked acrylic polyacid thickener (in some embodiments carbomer) with the lifting serum portion comprising the silicate (in some embodiments sodium silicate).
[0055] In some examples, embodiments of the composition according to the invention can be prepared by mixing the gelling solution portion and the lifting serum portion in varying proportions to provide a composition having a pH in a range of about 9 to about 11, or between 10.5 and 11, or from about 10.6 to about 10.8, and in some embodiments, about 10.83, where the gelling solution portion and the lifting serum portions are mixed to provide a crosslinked polyacrylic acid thickener-to-silicate ratio in a range of about 1:1 to 1:13.
[0056] Therefore, the pH can be in a range of about 9 to about 11, including intermediate increments of 0.01, and in some examples, the pH can be in a range of about 10.50, 10.51, 10.52, 10.53, 10.54, 10.55, etc. to about 10.81, 10.82, 10.83, 10.84, 10.85, etc. to about 11.00.
[0057] Maintaining the pH within the described range is influenced by the relative proportions of the thickener comprising the polymer and the silicate. Given the relatively high pH of the silicate compared to that of the thickener, an imbalance in these ingredients can cause the composition to become cloudy, gummy, or unusable. Therefore, the ratio of plant-derived gum thickener of natural origin (e.g., dehydroxanthan gum with citric acid) to silicate (e.g., sodium silicate) is in the range of approximately 1:1 to 1:20, including intermediate increments and ranges. In some embodiments, the ratio is in the range of approximately 1:5 to approximately 1:18, or approximately 1:10 to 1:15, or approximately 1:13.Variously, the ratio can be from 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:10, 1:11, 1:12, 1:13, 1:14, 1:15, 1:16, 1:17, 1:18, 1:19 to 1:20, including intermediate increments and ranges, relative to the total weight of the cosmetic composition. [0080] The term “clay” refers to a naturally occurring material composed primarily of fine-grained minerals, which is generally plastic at an appropriate water content and hardens when dried or fired. Although clay usually contains phyllosilicates, it may contain other materials that impart plasticity and harden upon drying or firing. Associated phases in clay may include materials that do not impart plasticity and organic matter. A common definition is that of the Penguin Dictionary of Science, namely, "finely divided rock materials whose constituent minerals are various silicates, chiefly of magnesium or aluminium." Clay includes the minerals Kaolinite (usually defined as [SLJAhOio (OH)8.nH2O (n=0 or 4)], Illite (usually defined as MJSie.sAli JAhFe.fHsMg.vsCLo (OH)4), Ver-miculite (usually defined as MxfSi7AlJAlFe.05Mg0.5O2O (OH)4), Smectite (generally defined as Mx[Si8]Al3.2Feo.2Mgo.6O2O (OH)4), Chlorite (generally defined as (Al1(OH)2 55)4 [Si6.8Al10i.2}Al34Mgo.6)2O(OH)4), and Phylosilicate or talc (generally defined as Mg3Si4OiO(OH)2). .
[0081] Another definition, frequently used by chemists, is "a sediment or sedimentary rock of natural origin composed of one or more minerals and accessory compounds, the whole usually being rich in hydrated aluminum silicate, iron or magnesium, hydrated alumina, or iron oxide, having particles predominantly of colloidal or near-colloidal size, and commonly developing plasticity when sufficiently pulverized and wetted" (see Kirk-Othmer, Encyclopaedia of Chemical Technology, Volume 5, page 544, 2nd edition, John Wiley and Sons, Inc., New York, 1964). Examples of clays are given in the book "Clay Mineralogy," S. Caillere, S. Hénin, M. Rautureau, 2nd edition 1982, Masson. Clays can be of natural or synthetic origin.
[0082] Hydrophilic clay includes smectites such as saponites, hectorites, montmorillonites, bentonites, and beidellite. Hydrophilic clay includes synthetic hectorites (also called laponites) such as the products sold by the company under the names Laporte Laponite XLG, Laponite RD, and Laponite RDS (these products are sodium silicates and magnesium silicates, in particular sodium, lithium, and magnesium silicates), bentonites such as the product sold under the name Bentone® HC Rheox, magnesium silicates, and products based on Aluminum silicates, such as the hydrated products sold by Vanderbilt under the names Ultra Veegum®, Veegum® HS, and Veegum® DGT, or calcium silicates, particularly the synthetic form sold by the company under the name Micro-cel® C, are examples of fuller's earth. Fuller's earth is primarily composed of hydrated aluminum silicates that contain metallic ions such as magnesium, sodium, and calcium within their structure. Montmorillonite is the main clay mineral in fuller's earth, but it may also contain other minerals such as kaolinite, attapulgite, and palygorskite, among other components.
[0083] A lipophilic clay refers to a clay that swells in a lipophilic medium; the clay swells and forms a colloidal dispersion. Lipophilic clays include modified clays such as modified magnesium silicate hectorites (Rheox Bentone VS38 gel) modified with a C22 C1O ammonium chloride fatty acid, such as hectorite modified with distearyldimethyl-lammonium chloride (CTFA name: Disteardimonium hectorite) sold under the name "Bentone 38 CE" by Rheox or Bentone® 38V by ELEMENTIS.
[0084] The origin of such a clay may be a natural or synthetic mineral clay, such as hectorite, bentonite and their quaternized derivatives, for example obtained by reacting the minerals with a quaternary ammonium compound, such as stearalconium bentonite, hectorites, quaternized hectorites such as Quatemium-18 hectorite, carbonates such as propylene carbonate, bentones, and the like.
[0085] Non-limiting examples of clay that can be used in the present invention include fuller's earth, volcanic ash mud from Pinatubo in the Philippines, Aleppo clay from Syria, volcanic mud from Pulau Tiga in Malaysia, Nha Trang mud from Vietnam, white kaolinite from Korea, yellow loess from Korea, Jeju volcanic clay from Korea, Guanziling mud from Taiwan, Wudalianchi volcanic mud from China, black mud from Yuncheng Salt Lake in China, mineral mud from Tantou Village in China, porcelain clay (kaolin), Maifan stone from China, Beppu Onsen Fango from Japan, Kucha from Japan, Tanakura clay from Japan, Cambrian blue clay from Russia, Blue Lagoon mud from Iceland, Saki Lake mud from Ukraine, Karlovy Vary heath mud from the Czech Republic, and Heviz Georgikon heath mud. from Hungary, the heath mud of the Austrian Alps, the mud of Bad Wilsnack in Germany,Bavarian mineral salt mountain mud from Germany, volcanic ash from Freiburg, Germany, Santorini mud from Greece, Mar Menor mud from Spain, volcanic mud from Ischia, Italy, Euganean thermal mud from Italy, yellow illite clay from France, French green clay - Montmorillonite, Calistoga mud from the United States, sacred clay and Formalite from the United States, Redmond clay from the United States, Arctic mineral mud from Canada, Tulum Mayan clay from Mexico, glacial clay from Canada, white Amazonian clay from Brazil, volcanic thermal mud from El Chillante in Argentina, African healing clay and Australian olive green clay. PACKAGING
[0099] In various embodiments, the cosmetic composition is supplied as a manufactured product in which the ingredients are divided into at least two parts, such that the gelling solution which includes the plant-derived gum thickener of natural origin (e.g., dehydroxanthan gum), the clay including hectorite, glycosaminoglycan, and all the active ingredients is kept separate from the lifting serum which includes the silicate and water.
[0100] It will be realized that the cosmetic composition is packaged in a manufactured product which separately contains each part of the gelling solution and the lifting serum. In some embodiments, the manufactured product includes each of the separately packaged parts having concentrations of the thickener and the silicate, respectively, which ensure a cross-linked polyacrylic acid thickener to silicate ratio in a range of about 1:1 to 1:20, so that when mixed, the resulting composition has a predetermined pH in a range of about 9 to about 11, or between 10.5 and 11, or from about 10.6 to about 10.8, and in some embodiments, of about 10.83, in which the pH is determined at least in part by the proportions of the thickener and the silicate.Varying the quantities of mixed parts provides a mask with varying thickness and spreading capacity, ranging from thinner and more liquid at a higher pH in the range of about 9 to 11 (greater quantity of silicate in the range of 1:1 to 1:20) to thicker and firmer at a lower pH in the range of about 9 to 11 (greater quantity of thickener in the range of 1:1 to 1:20).
[0101] In one embodiment, the packaging may be in the form of a multi-use product in which each of the two parts is supplied separately where the container for at least one part is sized to receive the entirety of the other part contained therein, so that the parts can be mixed by the consumer and used over time until the mixture is exhausted.
[0102] In another embodiment, the packaging may be in the form of a single-use product in which the two parts supplied in separate containers or chambers, and the parts of a package contained separately, are mixed by the consumer and used for a single or limited number of applications. Such The embodiment may be a dual-chamber sachet having distinctly insulated segments with an internal frangible thermoformed seal between them that can be broken to mix the two parts within the sachet before application. Alternatively, this embodiment may be a dual-chamber carton with adjacent segments, in which the segments of the carton are each torn open and their contents are mixed in another container or on a substrate surface before application, or the two parts are mixed on the skin surface.Alternatively, this embodiment can be carried out as a single-chamber carton containing one part and a separate bottle, tube, or ampoule containing the other part, where the carton segment is torn and the separate bottle, tube, or ampoule is broken and their contents are mixed in the carton, another container, or on a substrate surface before application, or the two parts are mixed on the skin surface. Alternatively, this embodiment can be carried out as a single-chamber jar, sachet, or container containing one part and a separate bottle, tube, applicator with a storage compartment, or ampoule containing the other part, where the jar, sachet, or container is opened and the contents of the separate bottle, tube, applicator with a storage compartment, or ampoule are added and mixed into the single-chamber jar, sachet, or container before application.

[0105] During use, the manufactured product comprising at least two partitioned containers is supplied for use by a consumer, according to which the consumer opens the containers, mixes the component parts, applies the composition to the skin and holds it in place for a time sufficient to allow the gelling and tensioning of the mask composition, for example, for an interval of about 30 minutes, or more generally within a range of about 10 minutes to about 45 minutes.
[0106] Application to the skin can be accomplished using the fingers, an applicator pad or a brush.
[0107] The manufactured products providing the composition may thus include partitioned containers for the first part and the second part comprising, respectively Specifically, the lifting serum and the gelling solution, and one or more applicators.
[0108] Accordingly, the component parts of the composition are mixed, for example, for about 10 to 30 seconds; the mixture is applied to the skin for a period of about ten to about 45 minutes; the skin is rinsed with warm water without using any cleanser. After removal of the mask, the skin can be further treated with a moisturizer and / or a makeup composition, a UV protector, or other compositions can be applied.
[0109] Used according to the disclosure, the composition can be easily applied to form a gel mask which provides immediate skin firming, and upon removal of the mask, the clay (e.g., hectorite) is retained to gently smooth and blur wrinkles and fine lines, with the effect conferred by the mask providing increased skin hydration, and the benefits of the included active ingredients, such as redness reduction with caffeine and hydration and plumping with hyaluronic acid / sodium hyaluronate. The expression "consisting essentially of" limits the scope of a claim to the specified elements, steps, or material(s) and to those that do not materially affect the fundamental and novel feature(s) of the claimed invention. All the processes and materials described herein that incorporate the present invention can, in alternative embodiments, be defined more specifically by any one of the transitional terms "comprising", "consisting essentially of" and "consisting of".
[0135] Apart from the examples of operation, or unless otherwise indicated, all numbers expressing quantities of ingredients and / or reaction conditions may in all cases be modified by the term "approximately", meaning to the nearest 10% of the number indicated (for example, "approximately 10%" means 9% to 11% and "approximately 2%" means 1.8% to 2.2%).
[0136] All percentages and ratios are calculated by weight unless otherwise stated. All percentages are calculated relative to the total composition unless otherwise stated. In general, unless expressly stated otherwise herein, "weight" or "quantity" as used herein with respect to the percentage quantity of an ingredient refers to the quantity of raw material comprising the ingredient, the raw material being described herein as comprising less than and up to 100% of the ingredient's activity. Therefore, the weight percentage of an active ingredient in a composition is represented as the quantity of raw material containing the active ingredient that is used and may or may not reflect the final percentage of the active ingredient, the final percentage of the active ingredient being dependent on the weight percentage of the active ingredient in the raw material.
[0137] All ranges and quantities stated herein are intended to include subranges and quantities using any disclosed point as a boundary. Thus, a range of "1% to 10%, such as 2% to 8%, such as 3% to 5%" is intended to encompass ranges of "1% to 8%", "1% to 5%", "2% to 10%", and so on. All numbers, quantities, ranges, etc., are intended to be modified by the term "approximately", whether or not expressly stated. Similarly, a given range of "approximately 1% to 10%" is intended to have its boundaries of both 1% and 10% modified by the term "approximately". Furthermore, it is understood that where a quantity of a component is given, it is intended to refer to the quantity of the active ingredient, unless specifically stated otherwise.
[0138] Although the numerical ranges and parameters presenting the general scope of the disclosure are approximations, unless otherwise indicated, the numerical values presented in the specific examples are reported as accurately as possible. However, every numerical value inherently contains some errors necessarily resulting from the standard deviation observed in their respective test measurements. The following example serves to illustrate embodiments of this disclosure but is not intended to be exhaustive.
[0139] Although a number of exemplary aspects and embodiments have been discussed above, those skilled in the art will recognize some of their modifications, permutations, additions, and subcombinations, and it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes can be made, and equivalents can be substituted by elements thereof, without departing from the scope of the invention. Furthermore, numerous modifications can be made to adapt a particular situation or matter to the teachings of the invention without departing from its essential scope. It is therefore anticipated that the invention is not limited to the particular embodiments disclosed herein and that the following annexed claims and those relating to demands presented below shall be interpreted to include all such modifications, permutations, additions and sub-combinations as they enter into their true spirit and scope.
