Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Multi-position latch Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of leaf closures, in particular devices for locking a leaf in the open position. More particularly, the present invention relates to a latch for locking a leaf in the open position. It is particularly applicable to swing shutters. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] In the field of joinery, there are numerous devices for holding a leaf in position against a wall, for example against a wall, the leaf making it possible to obstruct an opening in a wall where, for example, a window is located.
[0003] There are technical solutions for holding devices allowing the leaf to be kept fixed relative to the wall.
[0004] Certain holding devices generally comprise a blocking portion configured to cooperate by wedging with a strike plate fixed relative to the wall. Document FR3129966A1 provides such a device with a device comprising a portion fixed to the leaf and a strike plate fixed to the wall.
[0005] However, this type of device has the disadvantage of having to change the strike plate depending on the positioning of the device on a leaf. The installation of such a device implies that a user must know in advance whether the device will be installed on a framed leaf or not or whether it will be installed on a hinge in order to have the strike plate to correspond to the system in place.
[0006] An object of the present invention is therefore to propose a solution allowing the installation of a locking system regardless of the configuration of the support on which the system is in position.
[0007] Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and accompanying drawings. It is understood that other advantages may be incorporated. SUMMARY
[0008] To achieve this objective, according to a first aspect, a strike plate is provided that can be fixed to a frame and cooperate with a holding device fitted to a leaf that can be moved relative to the frame and which is configured so as to hold the leaf in a fixed position relative to the frame, the strike plate having a first longitudinal dimension and comprising a first part, the first part extending along the first longitudinal dimension and comprising:
[0009]
[0010]
[0011]
[0012]
[0013] • a fixing portion configured to allow the strike plate to be fixed relative to the frame, • a support portion configured to stop a leaf in the fixed position, characterized in that it comprises a second part having an upper face and extending along a second longitudinal dimension, the second part comprising: • a cooperation portion extending from the upper face along the second longitudinal dimension, the cooperation portion being configured so as to cooperate with the device for holding in the fixed position, • a wedging portion configured so as to wed the holding device in position in the fixed position, the latch having relative fixing means configured to fix the second part relative to the first part in a first position and, alternatively, in at least one second position different from the first position. Thus, the invention allows a strike plate to be positioned in several configurations or positions so as to meet the possible installation configurations of a device for holding a leaf in a fixed position. In addition, the strike plate as described allows for easy and universal mounting regardless of its orientation. In addition, a user can decide to move the system without having to purchase other elements, allowing them to make this change quickly and without additional costs. According to another aspect, a system is provided comprising the latch and a holding device comprising a locking portion, the latch being configured so as to cooperate with the locking portion in the fixed position. This means that the strike plate can work regardless of where the holding device is positioned on the leaf. Another aspect relates to a method of mounting a strike plate, the mounting comprising: • positioning of the first part according to the first longitudinal dimension, • a positioning of the second part on the first part following the first or at least the second position, • positioning the strike plate on a frame, • fixing the strike plate on the frame. Thus, the strike plate is quick and easy to install, regardless of whether the associated device is positioned on a leaf or on a hinge. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0023] Before commencing a detailed review of embodiments of the invention, optional features which may possibly be used in combination or alternatively are set out below.
[0024] According to one example, the first position of the second part relative to the first part is configured such that the second longitudinal dimension of the second part is positioned parallel to the first longitudinal dimension.
[0025] This makes it possible to have the cooperation portion positioned so as to cooperate with the holding device when the latch is positioned with its longitudinal dimension horizontally relative to the ground, for example when the device is positioned on a hinge.
[0026] According to one example, the second position of the second part relative to the first part is configured such that the second longitudinal dimension of the second part is positioned perpendicular to the first longitudinal dimension.
[0027] This makes it possible to have the cooperation portion positioned so as to cooperate with the holding device when the latch is positioned with its longitudinal dimension positioned vertically relative to the ground, for example when the device is positioned on a leaf.
[0028] According to one example, the second part is configured to be attached to the first part in a third position, the third position being opposite along the first longitudinal dimension to the second position.
[0029] This makes it possible to have the cooperation portion positioned so as to cooperate with the holding device when the latch is positioned with its longitudinal dimension positioned vertically relative to the ground, for example when the device is positioned on a leaf.
[0030] According to one example, the fixing means comprise at least one screw configured so as to pass through the first part and the second part.
[0031] This allows a single fixing of the two parts of the strike plate to the frame.
[0032] According to one example, the fixing portion comprises two oblong holes configured to allow the screw to pass through.
[0033] This allows the position of the strike plate on the frame to be adjusted horizontally regardless of the positioning of the longitudinal dimension of the strike plate.
[0034] According to one example, the second part comprises a screw cover.
[0035] This prevents the screw head from rubbing against an element of the system.
[0036] According to one example, the fixing means comprise studs, the studs being positioned on one of an upper face of the first part or a lower face of the second part and being configured so as to be able to fit into corresponding cavities positioned on the other of the upper face of the first part or the lower face of the second part.
[0037] This makes it easier to align the second part with the first part. In addition, this ease of installation is achievable regardless of the chosen position of the strike plate and therefore the positioning of the device.
[0038] According to one example, the holding device is capable of being positioned on a hinge, the second part of the latch being positioned according to the first position.
[0039] This allows the strike plate to have its longitudinal dimension positioned on the hinge. In addition, this allows the support portion of the strike plate to be on the hinge and not damage the leaf.
[0040] According to one example, the holding device is capable of being positioned on a leaf, the second part of the latch being positioned in one of the second position or the third position.
[0041] This allows the latch to be positioned with its longitudinal dimension following the vertical.
[0042] According to one example, the system comprises a base, the base being configured to form the stop on the support portion.
[0043] This allows, when the strike plate has its longitudinal dimension along the vertical, not to press directly on the leaf but on a support allowing withstand the shocks produced by the fixed position.
[0044] According to one example, at least one shim is positioned before the strike plate is positioned on the frame in an interposed manner between the frame and the fixing portion.
[0045] This allows the strike plate to be positioned correctly on a frame if the system is not perfectly aligned.
[0046] The term "first and second faces of the first part or second part" means the main faces, that is to say the opposite faces having the largest face. The first face and the second face should be understood as the largest faces of the smallest possible parallelepiped in which the part would be inscribed.
[0047] In the remainder of the description, the term “on” does not necessarily mean “directly on”. Thus, when it is indicated that a part or member A is supported “on” a part or member B, this does not mean that the parts or members A and B are necessarily in direct contact with each other. These parts or members A and B may be either in direct contact or be supported on each other by means of one or more other parts. The same applies to other expressions such as, for example, the expression “A acts on B”, which may mean “A acts directly on B” or “A acts on B by means of one or more other parts”.
[0048] In this document, when two parts are indicated as distinct, this means that these parts are separate. They are: • positioned at a distance from each other, and / or • mobile relative to each other and / or • secured to each other by being fixed by added elements, this fixing being removable or not.
[0049] A single-piece unit cannot therefore be made up of two separate parts.
[0050] In this document, the term "solid" used to describe the connection between two parts means that the two parts are connected / fixed relative to each other, according to all degrees of freedom, unless explicitly specified differently. For example, if it is indicated that two parts are translationally solid in an X direction, this means that the parts can be movable relative to each other except in the X direction. In other words, if one part is moved in the X direction, the other part performs the same movement.
[0051] In this document a longitudinal dimension or direction will be understood as the longest dimension of the object.
[0052] In the following detailed description, terms such as "ho zontal”, “vertical”, “longitudinal”, “transverse”, “upper”, “lower”, “top”, “bottom”, “front”, “rear”, “inside”, “outside”. These terms must be interpreted relatively in relation to the normal position of the strike plate and / or the holding device and / or the leaf and / or the wall. For example, the concept “transverse” corresponds to the width direction of the leaf.
[0053] The present invention relates to a strike plate 4 capable of being fixed to a frame 3, typically at the level of a wall, often external, of a building. The strike plate is also capable of cooperating with a holding device 1 equipping a leaf 2 movable relative to the frame 3. The strike plate 4 is configured so as to hold, in a fixed position, the leaf 2 relative to the frame 3. The strike plate 4 will now be described with reference to FIGS. 1A to 2C.
[0054] The striker 4 has a first longitudinal dimension Xb. Similarly, the striker 4 has its largest dimension according to the first longitudinal dimension Xp.
[0055] The striker 4 comprises a first part 4L The first part 41 extends along the first longitudinal dimension Xp The first part 41 is configured so as to allow fixing of the striker 4 as well as to stop a leaf 2 in abutment in the fixed position.
[0056] To do this, the first part 41 comprises a fixing portion 4a. The fixing portion 4a is then configured so as to allow fixing of the strike plate 4 relative to the frame 3. The first part 41 also comprises a support portion 4c configured so as to stop a leaf 2 in abutment in the fixed position. The support portion 4c may, according to one example, be projecting relative to the fixing portion 4a.
[0057] The latch 4a also comprises a second part 42. The second part 42 is configured so as to cooperate with a holding device 1. The second part 42 has an upper face 421. The second part 42 also extends along a second longitudinal dimension X2.
[0058] The second part 42 comprises a cooperation portion 4b. The cooperation portion 4b extends from the upper face 421 along the second longitudinal dimension X2. The cooperation portion 4b being configured so as to cooperate with the holding device 1 in the fixed position, the cooperation portion 4b may have a beak shape. The second part 42 comprises a wedging portion 4d. The wedging portion being configured so as to wed a holding device 1 in position in the fixed position.
[0059] The latch 4 has relative fixing means. The relative fixing means are configured to fix the second part 42 relative to the first part 4L. The fixing of the second part 42 relative to the first part 41 can be carried out in a first position and alternatively in at least one second position. different from the first position.
[0060] According to an example illustrated in [Fig. 1B] and 2A, the first position of the second part 42 relative to the first part 41 is configured so that the second longitudinal dimension X2 of the second part 42 is positioned parallel to the first longitudinal dimension Xb. Thus, in the first position, the cooperation portion 4b can be positioned so as to cooperate with the holding device 1 when the latch 4 is positioned with the first longitudinal dimension Xi horizontally relative to the ground, for example when the device 1 is positioned on a hinge.
[0061] According to an example illustrated in [Fig.2B], the second position of the second part 42 relative to the first part 41 is configured so that the second longitudinal dimension X2 of the second part 42 is positioned perpendicular to the first longitudinal dimension Xb. Thus, in the second position, the cooperation portion 4b can be positioned so as to cooperate with the holding device 1 when the striker 4 is positioned with the first longitudinal dimension Xi positioned vertically relative to the ground, for example when the device 1 is positioned on a leaf 2.
[0062] According to an example illustrated in [Fig.2C], the second part 42 is configured to be fixed to the first part 41 in a third position. The third position is opposite along the first longitudinal dimension Xi to the second position. Similarly, in the third position the cooperation portion 4b of the second part 42 is positioned opposite its position in the second position. Thus, in the third position, the second part 42 can be positioned on the first part after a rotation of 180° in a plane comprising the first longitudinal dimension Xi and the second longitudinal dimension X2 relative to its position in the second position.
[0063] According to one example, when the second part 42 is fixed to the first part 41 according to the second position and the third position, the striker 4 is positioned on a frame 3 with the first longitudinal dimension Xi vertical relative to the ground. Similarly, the cooperation portion 4b can then be extended perpendicularly relative to the first longitudinal dimension Xi so as to cooperate with the holding device 1 when the striker 4 is positioned with its longitudinal dimension Xi positioned vertically.
[0064] Fixing the strike plate:
[0065] The striker 4 has fixing means. The fixing means can alternatively make it possible to easily fix and / or position the striker 4 to facilitate the installation of a system comprising the striker 4.
[0066] According to one example, the fixing means comprise at least one screw 6. The screw 6 is configured so as to pass through the first part 41 and the second part 42. Thus, a single fixing allows the striker 4 to be fixed relative to the frame 3. In addition, the screw 6 makes it possible to securely fix the first part 41 with the second part 42. In order to achieve this fixing, the second part 42 may comprise a through opening 4e. The through opening 4e may then be configured so as to allow the screw 6 to pass through. Similarly, the first part 41 may comprise holes. More precisely, the first part 41 may comprise two through oblong holes 4al. Similarly, the fixing portion 4a may comprise two oblong holes 4al. The two oblong holes 4al may be configured so as to allow the screw 6 to pass through. The two oblong holes 4al may be positioned centrally on the fixing portion 4a. The two oblong holes 4al can be positioned perpendicular to each other so as to form a cross. Thus, the position of the strike plate 4 can be adjusted horizontally relative to the frame 3 whether the strike plate 4 is positioned with its first longitudinal dimension Xi vertically or horizontally.
[0067] According to one example, the fixing means comprise studs 4111, for example 2 to 4 studs. The studs 4111 may be positioned on an upper face 411 of the first part 4L. The studs 4111 may be configured so as to be able to be inserted into corresponding cavities 4221 positioned on a lower face 422 of the second part 42 (illustrated in [Fig.lA]). Similarly, the studs 4111 may be positioned on the lower face 422 of the second part 42. The studs 4111 may be configured so as to be able to be inserted into corresponding cavities 4221 positioned on the upper face 411 of the first part. The correspondence of the studs 4111 with the cavities 4221 facilitates the alignment of the second part 42 with the first part 4L. Generally speaking, the studs 4111 are projections. Thus, the installation of the second part 42, whatever its position, on the first part 41 is facilitated, thereby facilitating by extension the installation of the latch 4 and therefore of a system for holding a leaf. In particular, pre-positioning of the second part 42 is possible via the studs 4111; then this part 42 is firmly secured to the first part 41 by the screw.
[0068] According to one example, the second part 42 comprises a screw cover 4f. More precisely, the through opening 4e is capable of receiving the screw cover 4f after fixing the strike plate 4 by the screw 6. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, the screw cover 4f makes it possible to prevent the head of the screw from rubbing against an element of the system.
[0069] Holding system:
[0070] According to one example, a holding system otherwise referred to hereinafter as a system comprises the latch 4 described in the preceding paragraphs as well as a holding device 1.
[0071] According to one example, the holding device 1, illustrated in FIGS. 3A and 3B, is configured so as to allow the passage of the holding device 1 from a fixed position to a position of mobility of a leaf 2 relative to a frame 3.
[0072] The holding device 1 comprises a blocking portion 11. The blocking portion 11 can perform a translational movement along a main direction of extension X3 of the holding device 1 in order to allow a position of mobility of the leaf 2 relative to the frame 3. The blocking portion 11 can be configured, in the fixed position, to prevent a leaf 2 from moving relative to the frame 3.
[0073] According to one example, the latch 4 is then configured so as to cooperate with the locking portion 11 in the fixed position. According to one embodiment, in the fixed position, a beveled surface of the locking portion 11 is configured to cooperate by sliding, in contact with the cooperation portion 4b until the beveled surface reaches the level of the wedging portion 4d. According to one example, the cooperation portion 4b acts as a latch.
[0074] According to one example, the striker 4 may be positioned horizontally or vertically relative to the ground or relative to the main direction of extension X3 of the holding device 1. The vertical or horizontal positioning of the striker 4 may depend on the positioning of the holding device 1 on the leaf 2. Similarly, the first longitudinal dimension Xi of the striker 4 may be positioned horizontally or vertically relative to the ground or relative to the main direction of extension X3 of the holding device 1.
[0075] According to one example, the holding device 1 is capable of being positioned on a hinge 5 of a leaf 2. The striker 4 can then be positioned horizontally relative to the ground. Similarly, the striker 4 has the first longitudinal dimension Xi parallel to the main direction of extension X3. Thus, the second part 42 of the striker 4 can be positioned according to the first position.
[0076] The striker 4 can then have its longitudinal dimension positioned on the hinge 5, the support portion 4c of the striker 4 is then in contact with the hinge 5. This positioning of the striker 4 makes it possible to avoid friction between the striker 4 and the leaf 2 and therefore to damage it.
[0077] According to one example, the holding device 1 is able to be positioned on a leaf 2. The striker 4 can then be positioned horizontally relative to the ground. Similarly, the striker 4 has the first longitudinal dimension Xi parallel to the main direction of extension X3. Thus, the second part 42 of the striker 4 can be configured so as to be positioned according to the first position. The striker 4 can also be positioned vertically relative to the ground. Similarly, the striker 4 has its first longitudinal dimension Xi perpendicular to the direction main extension X3. Thus, the second part 42 of the latch 4 can be positioned in one of the second position or the third position.
[0078] According to one example, the system comprises a base 12. The base 12 can be configured to form the stop on the support portion 4c when the holding device 1 is positioned on the leaf 2. Thus, when the latch 4 comes into contact with the holding device 1, the latch 4 comes into contact with the base 12, making it possible to withstand the shocks produced when moving into the fixed position. The leaf 2 is thus not damaged by the latch 4.
[0079] Method of mounting the latch 4:
[0080] The latch 4 having a first part 41 and a second part 42, these must be mounted one on the other.
[0081] The assembly method then comprises positioning the first part 41 along the first longitudinal dimension Xb. According to one example, the first longitudinal dimension Xi may be horizontal or vertical relative to the ground depending on the installation position of the device capable of cooperating with the latch.
[0082] The method then comprises positioning the second part 42 on the first part 41 according to the first or at least the second position. According to one example, this positioning is facilitated by the presence of the pads 4111.
[0083] The assembly method then comprises positioning the latch 4 on a frame 3.
[0084] The mounting method finally comprises fixing the latch 4 to the frame 3. The fixing of the latch 4 is carried out by a fixing means. More precisely, the latch 4 is fixed to the frame 3 by a screw 6.
[0085] According to one example, the mounting method comprises positioning at least one shim 43 before positioning the latch 4 on the frame 3. The shim 43 can then be positioned in an interposed manner between the frame 3 and the fixing portion 4a. Depending on the adjustment requirements, a plurality of shims 43 can be positioned in an interposed manner between the frame 3 and the fixing portion 4a. Thus, the latch 4 is positioned in an aligned manner so as to cooperate correctly with the holding device 1. According to one example, the at least one shim 43 can be positioned in an interposed manner between the frame 3 and the first part 4L.
[0086] The invention is not limited to the embodiments previously described and extends to all embodiments covered by the invention. The present invention is not limited to the examples previously described. Many other variant embodiments are possible, for example by combining features previously described, without departing from the scope of the invention. In addition, the features described in relation to one aspect of the invention may be combined with another aspect of the invention.
