Abstract

Overvoltage protection system for an electronic device. The protection system includes a detection circuit configured to detect a rising current edge caused by the overvoltage, a tripping circuit configured to generate a control signal when a rising current edge is detected by the detection circuit, and a protective switch capable of being controlled by the control signal generated by the tripping circuit so as to short-circuit the electronic device.
