Abstract
Generating a light probe in a virtual environment, comprising the determination of a first region of the light probe based on one or more predetermined conditions 210. Light information is collected from the virtual environment 220, where the light information relates to light passing through a location of the light probe in the virtual environment. The light information is then stored in the light probe 230, where the light information is stored at a higher resolution in the first region of the light probe than in a, different, second region of the light probe. The light collection may comprise a plurality of light collection operations for different regions of the light probe. The predetermined conditions may comprise at least one condition relating to the objects in the virtual environment.
