Description

The present invention relates to a garment or harness having an upper layer and a lower layer that are connected together to form a pocket and which has a tapered slot-shaped opening. The pocket holds an insert securely in position and within which a sex toy or massaging device may be placed. Background Most sex toys require the hands to use them. This is an inconvenience for those who would like to use their hands to remain in contact with their partner and even for those with physical disabilities. Garments and harnesses for enhancing sexual performance and / or holding or supporting sex toys, often to provide an artificial phallus (in the form of a so-called dildo), and intended to be worn by males and / or females, are known. In prior art Patent Application No. US 20050278831 entitled "Garment for enhancing male sexual performance" filed June 8th 2005, as invented by Daryl Dahlquist, there is described a product that is designed to enhance male sexual performance by encouraging blood flow to the appropriate areas. However, this product does not allow for the holding or use of any sex toy or other insert to provide the enhancement. In prior art Patent Application No. DE 102012018920 entitled "Device for fixing dildo in front of pubis of person, has retaining ring for gripping of dildo in front of rear, flange-like extension portion, and continuous waist belts that are provided behind retaining ring" there is described a product that offers the ability to change the dildo that is attached to the device and so allows for different dildos to be secured in place. This prior art product however is designed to be used for penetration - which is very different from a harness that securely holds a sex toy that provides external stimulation. The prior art Patent No. GB2549690B relates to a strap on garment or harness having a pocket for holding an insert inside that is for use as a sex toy. The insert has a built in vibrating mechanism. However, the product has limitations that are detrimental to its intended function. GB2549690B provides for the insert to be exposed and make contact with a 3rd party; the idea being the wearer would be able to provide hands-free stimulation to the 3rd party's body. The base of the insert needs to be securely held within the internal boundaries of the pocket yet still have an exposed surface area to be the first point of contact with the other person. The insert relies on remaining fully secure within the pocket whilst forces are being applied to the exposed area by the 3rd party, otherwise it will be pried from the pocket. The issue with the harness of GB2549690 is the securing mechanism for the pocket, which is a flap that attempts to secure the insert in place by going through the upper layer of the garment and holes in the insert. The flap also covers all the top of the insert base at the expense of awkward fastening. The securing flap which fastens from the top down would be exposed to the contact of the other person, the flap would be undone or loosened by the experience of the contact and so make the harness redundant. Therefore the securing mechanism needs to not be exposed like the intended surface of the sex toy insert. The requirement of holes on either side of the insert also means that there is an unnecessary flaw in the structural integrity of the insert. In addition to the above, the use of the insert with the harness of GB2549690 didn't account for the effect the insert had whilst within the pocket. Any object taking up all the space between two sewn together layers would have the effect of pushing the layers apart, with the squared edge design of the insert the base plate would end up exposed due to the slot of the pocket peeling outwards. This effect is why a flap which is one singular wide folding section is not suitable to fold into the pocket and act as a surface to allow the fastening mechanisms to connect as it would take up too much space, which is already partially taken by the rib of the insert. Furthermore, GB2549690 only refers to a built in vibrating mechanism for the insert. It is not suitable for holding a variety of vibrating devices bought separately and used interchangeably. There is therefore a need for an improved garment or harness for holding a sex toy and which overcomes some or all of the disadvantages and limitations mentioned above. Summary of the invention According to the present invention there is provided a garment or harness for holding a sex toy or massaging device, which comprises: a pocket having an upper layer and a lower layer, connected so as to define the shape of the pocket, wherein the upper layer has a slot-shaped opening which is tapered so that it is narrower at one end than it is at the other end; and an insert comprising a base and a rib extending from the base, which includes a cavity within which a sex toy or massaging device can be placed; wherein the insert can be removably placed and held within the pocket, and positioned such that at least a portion of the rib protrudes through the slot-shaped opening in the upper layer of the pocket; and wherein there is a fastening mechanism comprising one or more appendages provided on either or both of the upper layer and the lower layer, such that the pocket can be closed with the insert inside and held in position. The harness which is designed to rest on the pelvis area of the body is able to hold a partially exposed insert within. The exposed area of this insert can make contact with the body of the partner and through use of vibration or different textured surface designs provide stimulation. Altogether the harness allows the wearer to provide extra hands-free pleasure to the partner. The harness may be made of any suitable material, for example leather. The insert has a cavity of a size and shape suitable to hold a sex toy, such as a vibrator or massaging device. It will be understood that that there is a wide range of such sex toys available to be bought separately. This insert, which may be made of any suitable material (for example and most preferably silicone), enables the product of this invention to achieve the desired hands-free sex toy functionality. In view of the problems described above associated with the securing mechanism (the large flap) used in the harness of GB2549690, it was realised that there was a need for smaller folding sections and which has resulted in the use of multiple appendages in the present invention. These appendages hold the location for the fastening mechanism. The patches of fasteners will correlate to the inside of the upper layer, and these fasteners could be, for example, buttons, magnets, press studs, straps and buckles, or a hook-and-loop system. The main benefit of this being that the appendages and fastening mechanisms will not be exposed to the 3rd party's contact and are therefore more secure. The peeling problem with the harness of GB2549690 (as described above), is mainly solved in the present invention by the slack created by the narrower at the entrance slot of the upper layer which pushes against the rib of the insert. In addition, the edges of the insert are most preferably now tapered to allow tighter conformity to the inner boundaries of the pocket, further reducing the peeling of the upper layer with the insert present. To summarise further the distinguishing and advantageous features of the present invention over the harness of GB2549690, the slot is narrower at the top than it is before the closing section, this narrowness is also thinner than the width of the rib of the insert on the Y-axis, this provides the slack relied on by the appendages and necessary for the fastening mechanisms to connect without peeling the upper layer away from the rib of the insert. The rib of the insert remains un-tapered so the interaction with the slot edges of the upper layer and the insert remains consistent. The outer side and bottom edges of the insert are also tapered to reduce the peeling effect of the upper layer whilst the insert is in the pocket. In combination, these features provide a significant functional improvement to the insert being held securely within the harness and therefore the utility of the sex toy. Description of Figures The present invention is illustrated by and will now be described in detail by reference to the accompanying figures as follows:- Figure 1: Shows the top side of the upper layer Figure 2: Shows the underside of the upper layer Figure 3: Shows the top side of the lower layer Figure 4: Shows the underside of the lower layer Figure 5: Shows the base plate and top of the insert Figure 6: Shows the back side of the pocket when sewn to the waist and leg strappings Figure 7: Shows the front facing side of the pocket with appendages open and without the insert Figure 8: Shows the top view of the pocket with the insert secured inside Figure 9: Shows a side view of the pocket with the insert secured inside Figure 10: Shows a rear view of the pocket with the insert secured inside Figure 11: Shows the garment with insert secured inside whilst worn by a male The reference numerals in these figures identify the following elements:- 1. The taper of the slot deviates towards the exact center of the pocket from the 90-degree vertical of the over halfway down wide point sides by at least + / - 3 degrees. The back side of the upper layer as shown in Figure 2 has the location of the fastening mechanism patches 4 on the appendages. The front side of the lower layer as shown in Figure 3 has the left 5 and right 6 appendage. The back side of the lower layer as shown in Figure 4 has the location on the appendage for the fastening mechanism patches 7. The insert for the pocket as shown by the top view in Figure 5 also shows the rib of the insert 8, the base of the insert 9 and the over-hanging tip of the insert 10. Figure 6 shows the back side of the pocket sewn to the waist strap 11 and leg straps 12 to bring the harness to form. The joining of the pocket and both straps via sewing results in an intersection of all three 13. The front side of the pocket whilst sewn to the waist and leg straps as shown in Figure 7 also demonstrates the space of the pocket without the insert present 14. It also shows the front facing side of the appendages of the lower layer 15 whilst not engaged with the counterpart fastening mechanism of the upper layer show in Figure 2. The top view of the pocket with the insert secured inside 19 is shown in Figure 8. The outer borders of the pocket are defined 16. The appendages of the lower layer fold over the insert 17 to engage the corresponding fastening patches of the upper layer 18. The insert is designed to overhang the boundaries of the pocket 20. In Figure 9 the side view of the pocket with the insert secured inside is shown. The top of the contact surface 21 and the side of the contact surface 22 is shown protruding above the contact point 23 between the upper layer and the rib 24 of the insert. The edges of the insert are tapered 26 to allow conformity to the inner boundaries of the pocket. The rear view of the pocket with the insert secured inside is shown Figure 10. The insert has a cavity 27 within the protruding section 21 located above the rib 8, this cavity is intended to hold bought separately vibration devices. The contact point between the rib and the upper layer 23 results in the slack 25 which allows the appendages to fold over 17 and the fastening patches line up 18. The harness with insert secured inside whilst being worn by a male is shown in Figure 11. The position of the sex toy 28 is shown above the male penis 29. The insert as shown in Figures 5, 8, 9 and 10 has tapered edges to allow it to conform tighter to the inner boundaries of the pocket as shown in Figures 9 and 10. The insert has a cavity within the area that sits above the surface of the upper layer as shown in Figures 9 and 10.
