Abstract

An apparatus for piercing a hole in fishing bait comprising a bush, a hole-making instrument, a top section comprising a hole through which the bush and hole making instrument can pass, and a base comprising a blanked off cavity for receiving the bush and hole making instrument. The bait is placed into the base and the top section slid into or over the base, such that the bait is held in place between the base and the top section. A bush is placed into the hole in the top section such that it rests on top of the bait. The hole making instrument is then placed into the bush via the hole in the top and pushed through the bait into the blanked off cavity in the base, thereby cutting a hole in the bait. The base may comprise a conical cavity and the top section may comprise a centring cone, such that the bait is held in a central position between the cavity and the cone when the top section is slid into the base.

Claims

1, A fishing item that can hold a bait in a central position whilst piercing a hole through the bait, but not allowing the hole making instrument to pass through the device completely. The hole would be in a good central position.2, A fishing item according to claim 1 where the piercing instrument would be stopped from exiting the device by means of a blanked off pocket to stop impalement in fingers or hands.3, A fishing item according to claim 1 where the device would suit many sizes of bait but would still produce a good central hole.4, A fishing device as in claim 1 where conical cavities, in top and base would greatly enhance centralisation of the bait.5, A fishing device as in claim 1 where the interchangeable bushes could accommodate different types and sizes of hole making instruments as used in angling pursuits.
