Clamping device

Abstract

A clamping device 100 for clamping an elongate article comprising a body defining a clamp 104,204 in the internal space, the body comprising a first clamping wall 130,230 against which an elongate article extends, a second clamping wall 132, 232 for applying a force to the clamp, where the first and second clamping wall converge towards one another, where the sliding surface of the clamp 126,226 is slidable along the second clamping wall and at least one of them comprises a coating with an anti-corrosion layer and a lubricating topcoat. The anti-corrosion layer may be electroplated, may be a sacrificial layer and may have an average thickness of 2 microns. The clamping surface may comprise serrations. The sacrificial coating layer may comprise zinc and the anti-corrosion layer may comprise Bright Zinc Plating. The lubricating topcoat may comprise an organo-mineral compound which may be a solidified form of a liquid compound. The topcoat may comprise a polymeric binder and may comprise a cross-linker for bonding to the zinc passivation layer. The topcoat may comprise lubricating additives and a corrosion inhibitor. The clamp may be wedge shaped and may be formed from a sintered metal such as sintered steel. Figure 2
