Robot surface cleaner

Abstract

A robot surface cleaner (14, fig 2) comprising a base side including wheel(s) upon which the robot surface cleaner can manoeuvre along a floor; a top side opposite the base side; a lateral side connecting the base side to the top side. The cleaner has an axis that passes through the top side and the base side and is normal to the floor when the robot surface cleaner is manoeuvring along the floor upon the wheel(s). The cleaner also comprises a debris storage bin 216 that defines a debris collection chamber and an opening 258 into the debris collection chamber. The opening faces in a direction that is orthogonal or oblique to the axis. A barrier 260 that is movable relative to the opening between a closed and open position. The robot surface cleaner is configured so that the barrier is at the closed position when the robot surface cleaner is held with the opening facing downwards. [Fig. 24]
