Control system and method for controlling a vehicle

Abstract

A control system 1 for controlling at least one vehicle 5 subsystem 3(n). The control system is configured to select one of a plurality of subsystem control modes (170(n), Fig. 3) in dependence on a determined terrain type on which the vehicle is operating, the control modes define one or more configurable control parameters (CCP(n), Fig. 4A) for controlling the subsystem. The control system comprises one or more processors configured to: receive at least one input signal (160, Fig. 3) of at least one terrain indicator parameter (165(n), Fig. 3); determine the terrain type depending on the terrain indicator parameter; and select one of the control modes in dependence on the terrain type. The processor(s) are configured to configure the control parameter(s) in dependence on the terrain indicator parameter. Also defined are vehicle 5 and a method (400, Fig. 5). [Figure 2]
