Abstract

To provide an authentication system and an authentication method, capable of reducing a load of a user when using a device other than a vehicle.SOLUTION: An authentication system includes: a terminal; and a control device. The terminal includes: an encryption processing unit that encrypts data based on a digital key for controlling a vehicle with a secret key, and generates encryption data; and a terminal communication unit that transmits the digital key and the encryption data to the control device that is different from the vehicle. The control device includes: a control device communication unit that receives the digital key and the encryption data; and an authentication unit that decodes the encryption data with a public key contained in a public key certificate and executes authentication processing of the terminal by using the digital key and data that is obtained by decoding the encryption data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
