Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001]
[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to fastening systems for joining multiple substrates of a workpiece, and more particularly to fastening systems that provide an interference fit with a workpiece including one or more composite substrates. The conductive properties of the various fastening systems provide protection from electromagnetic effects. Various configurations of the fastening system provide a mating barrel member that is pre-attached to the blind side of the workpiece and a bolt member for attachment to one side from the work side. [Background technology]
[0002]
[0002] Current bonded barrel fasteners are not utilized for interference fit installations and do not extend throughout the laminate of a workpiece. Furthermore, current bonded barrel fasteners would cause delamination and / or damage to the laminate if installed with an interference fit. Therefore, current bonded barrel fasteners are not suitable for electromagnetic energy protection of a workpiece.
[0003]
[0003] Accordingly, those skilled in the art continue to undertake research and development efforts to improve fastening systems for joining multiple substrates in a work piece. Summary of the Invention
