Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to an emulsifier composition used in the production of an oil-in-water emulsion composition. [Background technology]
[0002] In the field of cosmetics, oil-in-water emulsion compositions in the form of lotions, milky lotions, and creams are widely used for the purpose of simultaneously supplying water-soluble and oily components to the skin or hair, or for the purpose of improving the usability and feel of oily components. In general, emulsifiers are essential for the production of such oil-in-water emulsion compositions, and a wide variety of emulsifiers have been used in the past. However, in recent years, from the perspective of sustainability, there has been a demand for the use of emulsifiers derived from natural sources.
[0003] Polyglycerol fatty acid esters and sucrose fatty acid esters are nonionic surfactants that are synthesized from naturally derived ingredients and are safe enough to be used in food applications, and are widely used as raw materials for cosmetics and topical skin preparations. Lecithin is a generic name for naturally derived phospholipids obtained from animals or plants, and is very safe for humans, does not irritate the skin, and has a moisturizing effect and a unique, excellent feel when used, so it is widely used as a raw material for cosmetics and topical skin preparations.
[0004] As exemplified in Patent Documents 1 and 2, attempts to use a combination of polyglycerol fatty acid ester and lecithin, or sucrose fatty acid ester and lecithin, as an emulsifier for an oil-in-water emulsion composition are already known. However, when an oil-in-water emulsion composition is generally produced using such an emulsifier, the emulsifier and the oil agent are preheated and stirred to prepare an oil phase, and the obtained oil phase is added to a preheated aqueous phase and stirred and mixed. However, from the viewpoint of reducing environmental load in recent years, it is desired to produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition without the need for heating during emulsification. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more. Of these, sucrose laurate, sucrose myristic acid, sucrose palmitate, sucrose stearate, sucrose oleate, and sucrose isostearate are more preferred.
[0012] Examples of the phospholipids of component (A2) used in the present invention include diacylglycerophospholipids having polar groups such as phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidic acid; lecithin obtained from plants such as soybean, rapeseed, sunflower, safflower, peanut, cottonseed, corn, rice, and barley, and egg yolk, and hydrogenated products thereof. These phospholipids may be used alone or in combination of two or more. Among these, lecithin and hydrogenated products thereof are preferred from the viewpoint of availability and further exerting the effects of the present invention. Lecithin with different phosphatidylcholine (hereinafter, PC) contents depending on the degree of purification is commercially available, and any PC content can be used in the present invention. From the viewpoint of dispersion stability of the resulting emulsifier composition, it is preferable to use one with a PC content of 40% by mass or more, more preferably 50% by mass or more.
[0013] The water of component (B) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, and can be purified water, ion-exchanged water, distilled water, natural water, deep sea water, hydrogen water, etc. In addition, the pH of the water may be adjusted with an acid, an alkali, a buffering agent, a chelating agent, etc., or a water-soluble component such as a preservative may be added.
[0014] In the present invention, the mass ratio of components (A1) and (A2) is 95:5 to 15:85. If the mass ratio of components (A1) and (A2) is outside this range, an oil-in-water emulsion composition cannot be formed even if the components are stirred and mixed with an oily component at a temperature near room temperature without heating. From the viewpoint of further exerting the effects of the present invention, the mass ratio of components (A1) and (A2) is preferably 92:8 to 18:82, more preferably 90:10 to 20:80.
[0015] The content of component (A) in the emulsifier composition of the present invention is not particularly limited since it may be appropriately changed depending on the amount of the oily component to be emulsified, but the lower limit of the content is usually 0.01% by mass or more, preferably 0.05% by mass or more. The upper limit of the content is 25% by mass or less, preferably 20% by mass or less, from the viewpoint of the dispersion stability of the emulsifier composition.
[0016] The emulsifier composition of the present invention is characterized in that the lipid composition consisting of component (A), i.e., components (A1) and (A2), is dispersed in water. Component (A) being dispersed in water means that components (A1) and (A2) are dispersed in water in a fully mixed state. When components (A1) and (A2) are separately dispersed in water, they cannot form an oil-in-water emulsion composition even if they are stirred and mixed with an oily component at a temperature around room temperature without heating.
[0017] As described above, component (A) of the present invention needs to be dispersed in water in a state in which components (A1) and (A2) are sufficiently mixed. In order to disperse component (A) in water in such a state, components (A1) and (A2) can be mixed in advance and then added to water and mixed by stirring, or components (A1) and (A2) can be added separately to unagitated water and then mixed by stirring.
[0018] The emulsifier composition of the present invention may further contain a polyhydric alcohol as component (C). As described above, one method for dispersing component (A) in water is to previously mix components (A1) and (A2) and add the mixture to water and stir and mix. However, it is difficult to previously mix only components (A1) and (A2) in scaled-up industrial production. From this viewpoint, a polyhydric alcohol can be used as component (C) in the preparation of the emulsifier composition of the present invention. Specifically, components (A) and (C) are stirred and mixed to prepare a polyhydric alcohol solution, and water is added to the resulting polyhydric alcohol solution while stirring, or the polyhydric alcohol solution is added to water while stirring, so that components (A1) and (A2) are dispersed in water in a fully mixed state as component (A), making it easy to prepare the emulsifier composition of the present invention. In this case, the amount of component (C) used is not particularly limited as long as component (A) is sufficiently dispersed in component (C), but it is usually at least 2 times by mass, preferably at least 2.5 times by mass, of component (A).
[0019] Examples of the polyhydric alcohols used in the present invention as component (C) include dihydric alcohols such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,2-butylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, 2,3-butylene glycol, tetramethylene glycol, hexylene glycol, octylene glycol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,2-heptanediol, 1,2-octanediol, and 1,2-decanediol; glycerin, trimethylolpropane, and 1,2,6-hexanetriol. trihydric alcohols such as glycerol; sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, xylitol, erythritol, maltitol, mannitol; glyceryl ethers such as ethylglycerin, butylglycerin, hexylglycerin, ethylhexylglycerin; polyhydric alcohol polymers such as diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, diglycerin, triglycerin, tetraglycerin, polyglycerin, etc. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more. Among these, glycerin, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, dipropylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 1,2-heptanediol, and 1,2-octanediol are preferred, and 1,3-butylene glycol, glycerin, 1,2-pentanediol, and 1,2-hexanediol are most preferred.
[0020] The emulsifier composition of the present invention obtained as described above can be stirred and mixed with an oily component to produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition. The emulsifier composition of the present invention may be directly stirred and mixed with an oily component to produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition, or it may be appropriately diluted with water so that the content of component (A) is the content required for emulsifying the oily component, and then stirred and mixed with the oily component to produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition. In addition, when the oily component used has already been emulsified into emulsion particles by another emulsifier, when it is stirred and mixed with the emulsifier composition of the present invention, an oil-in-water emulsion composition is apparently produced, but naturally such an oil-in-water emulsion composition does not correspond to the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention, since the emulsion particles are not formed by the emulsifier composition of the present invention.
[0021] The emulsifier composition of the present invention has a technical feature that an oil-in-water emulsion composition can be produced at a temperature near room temperature without the need for heating in the emulsification step of stirring and mixing with an oily component. The reason why the emulsifier composition of the present invention can produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition without heating is believed to be that in the emulsifier composition of the present invention, component (A) forms a fine lipid membrane structure and disperses in water. The lipid membrane structure means vesicles, bicelles, etc. When an oil-in-water emulsion composition is produced using an emulsifier in a general manner, the formed emulsion particles are in a state in which the lipophilic group in the molecule of the emulsifier faces the oil phase and the hydrophilic group faces the water phase at the water / oil interface, thereby preventing the emulsion particles from coalescing. On the other hand, the emulsifier composition of the present invention forms emulsion particles by adhering the fine lipid membrane structure made of component (A) to the surface of the oil droplets while maintaining the shape of the structure, thereby preventing coalescence. For this reason, the emulsifier composition of the present invention is believed to be unnecessary to heat during emulsification. Therefore, the emulsion particles formed by the emulsifier composition of the present invention have a significantly different state at the water / oil interface from emulsion particles produced by a general method. Note that, in the present invention, heating is not excluded when producing an oil-in-water emulsion composition using the emulsifier composition of the present invention, and heating may be applied as necessary.
[0022] In the oil-in-water emulsion composition produced by stirring and mixing the emulsifier composition of the present invention and an oily component (also referred to as the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention), the method for stirring and mixing the emulsifier composition and the oily component is not particularly limited and may be any method generally used for producing oil-in-water emulsion compositions.
[0023] In the production of the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention, the amount of the emulsifier composition of the present invention used may be adjusted appropriately according to the amount of oily components to be blended in the oil-in-water emulsion composition, and is not particularly limited. As shown in the test in the examples described below, the emulsifier composition of the present invention has the ability to emulsify up to 50 times the mass of the oily components of the component (A) when the component (A1) is a mono- or diester of a fatty acid having 8 to 22 carbon atoms and a polyglycerin having a polymerization degree of 6 to 22, and has the ability to emulsify up to 30 times the mass of the oily components of the component (A) when the component (A1) is a monoester of a fatty acid having 8 to 22 carbon atoms and sucrose. Therefore, the emulsifier composition of the present invention is preferably used so that the content of the component (A) contained in the oil-in-water emulsion composition is 1 / 50 times (0.02 times) or 1 / 30 times (0.033 times) or more of the oily components to be blended in the oil-in-water emulsion composition.
[0024] The amount of oily component blended in the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is blended in such an amount that an oil-in-water emulsion composition is formed, but it is generally blended in an amount of about 0.01 to 60% by mass, preferably about 0.1 to 55% by mass in the oil-in-water emulsion composition.
[0025] The oily component used in the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, and one or more of the oily components generally used in cosmetics can be used. In general, when an emulsifier is used to produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition, it is necessary to adjust the HLB of the emulsifier according to the polarity (required HLB) of the oily component used, but the emulsifier composition of the present invention can produce an oil-in-water emulsion composition regardless of the polarity of the oily component. Specific examples of the oily component used in the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention are described below, but the present invention is not limited to these, and may contain various oil-soluble components that dissolve in the exemplified oily components.
