Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for producing an oil-in-water emulsion composition for cosmetics, which has a fresh and light feel and is excellent in stability and water repellency, without using any surfactant. [Background technology]
[0002] In emulsion compositions used in cosmetics and the like, aqueous and oily components are stably mixed due to the emulsifying action of a surfactant. However, when a large amount of surfactant is blended for the purpose of improving stability, stickiness may occur when applied. Furthermore, it is known that irritation may occur in very rare cases. In addition, since it is easily re-emulsified by mixing with aqueous components generated from the outside such as sweat, it has been difficult to impart water repellency. Therefore, there is a strong demand for the development of an emulsion composition that does not contain a surfactant and exhibits water repellency after application. On the other hand, emulsion compositions stabilized by adsorbing solid particles such as powder to the interface without using a surfactant are known as Pickering emulsions. Here, solid particles that spontaneously adsorb to the liquid-liquid or gas-liquid interface and exhibit surface activity are called surface-active particles. Numerous research results have been reported so far regarding the preparation of Pickering emulsions (Non-Patent Document 1), and it has been revealed that controlling the wettability of particles with water and oil is important for adsorbing particles to the interface (Non-Patent Document 2). As examples of application to cosmetics, there have been reported an oil-in-water emulsion composition that realizes a fresh feel by blending partially hydrophobic silica with a clay mineral (Patent Document 1), and an oil-in-water emulsion composition that has improved stability by blending titanium dioxide with two specific oily components (Patent Document 2). [0004] [Patent Document 1] Patent Publication No. 2013-129626 [Patent Document 2] Patent Publication No. 2021-147342 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] However, it has been extremely difficult to prepare an oil-in-water emulsion composition that satisfies all of the requirements regarding emulsion stability, feel upon application, and water repellency after application. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing an oil-in-water emulsion composition for cosmetics, which has a fresh and light feel and is excellent in storage stability and water repellency without using a surfactant. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] In view of the above circumstances, the present inventors conducted extensive research and discovered that an oil-in-water emulsion composition containing as its components (A) silica, (B) dimethylpolysiloxane, (C) diphenylsiloxyphenyl trimethicone, (D) an oil other than silicone, (E) ethanol, and (F) water, and obtained through a specific process, has a fresh and light feel without the use of a surfactant, and is also excellent in storage stability and water repellency, thereby completing the present invention.
[0007] That is, the present invention provides an oil-in-water emulsion composition for cosmetics having a moist and refreshing feel by containing the following components (A) to (F) and going through the following steps (1) to (4). According to the present invention, it is possible to provide an oil-in-water emulsion composition that is substantially free of surfactants and has excellent storage stability and water repellency. Component (A): Silica Component (B): Dimethylpolysiloxane Ingredient (C): Diphenylsiloxyphenyl trimethicone Component (D): Oils other than silicone Component (E): Ethanol Ingredient (F): Water Step (1): Component (A) and component (B) are kneaded together using a kneader. Step (2): The mixture obtained in step (1), component (C) and component (D) are mixed using a mechanical stirrer. Step (3): The mixture obtained in step (2) is mixed with component (E) using a mechanical stirrer. Step (4): The mixture obtained in step (3) is mixed with component (F) using a mechanical stirrer to obtain an emulsion composition.
[0008] The present invention will be described in detail below.
[0009] Component (A) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention may be any one that is commonly used in cosmetics, and the shape is not particularly limited, but it is preferably spherical in that it provides a smoother feel to the touch, and the particle size is not particularly limited, but is preferably 10 to 300 nm.
[0010] Component (A) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention can be silica obtained by burning a gas such as a silicon salt compound (e.g., silicon tetrachloride) in an oxygen-hydrogen flame. Commercially available products include the Aerosil series (manufactured by Nippon Aerosil Co., Ltd.), the CAB-O-SIL series (manufactured by Cabot Corporation), and the HDK series (manufactured by Wacker Asahi Kasei Silicones).
[0011] Component (A) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention has not been subjected to any special surface treatment such as a hydrophobic treatment.
[0012] The content of component (A) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific manufacturing process of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 0.1 to 1.0% by weight, more preferably 0.3 to 0.7% by weight, based on the total weight of the emulsion composition. If it is less than 0.1% by weight, fine and stable emulsion particles may not be formed. On the other hand, if it exceeds 1.0% by weight, a squeaky feeling may occur, and the tactile characteristics may be deteriorated.
[0013] The component (B) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention has a kinetic viscosity at 25°C of 10 to 50 mm 2 Commercially available products include KF-96-10cs, KF-96-20cs, KF-96-30cs, and KF-96-50cs (manufactured by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.; the number at the end of the product name indicates the kinematic viscosity at 25°C. For example, "10" indicates 10 mm 2 / s); SH200 C Fluid 10cs, SH200 C Fluid 20cs, and SH200 C Fluid 50cs (manufactured by Dow Corning Toray Silicone Co., Ltd.; the number at the end of the product name indicates the kinetic viscosity at 25°C. For example, "10" indicates 10 mm 2 / s); and TSF451-10, TSF451-20, TSF451-30, and TSF451-50 (manufactured by Momentive Performance Materials Japan; the number at the end of the product name indicates the kinematic viscosity at 25°C. For example, "10" indicates 10 mm 2 / s.) etc.
[0014] The weight ratio (B) / (A) of the component (A) and the component (B) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 10 to 25, more preferably 15 to 20. If the weight ratio (B) / (A) of the component (A) and the component (B) is less than 10, the viscosity becomes too high in the step (1), which reduces the handleability, and the hydrophobicity of the solid matter extracted from the mixture obtained in the step (1) may not be increased sufficiently. On the other hand, if the weight ratio (B) / (A) of the component (A) and the component (B) is 25 or less, the hydrophobicity of the solid matter extracted from the mixture obtained in the step (1) is increased sufficiently, and even if it exceeds 25, no further effect can be expected.
[0015] The production process (1) of the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is a process of kneading component (A) and component (B). The device used for dispersion at this time is not particularly limited as long as it is a kneader usually used for dispersion operations. For example, a kneader or a planetary mixer can be used.
[0016] The time required for kneading in the production step (1) of the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 30 to 300 minutes, more preferably 60 to 180 minutes. If the kneading time is shorter than 30 minutes, the hydrophobicity of the solid matter extracted from the mixture obtained in step (1) may not increase sufficiently, and emulsion stability and water repellency may decrease. On the other hand, if the kneading time is 300 minutes or less, the hydrophobicity of the solid matter extracted from the mixture obtained in step (1) increases sufficiently, and even if the kneading time exceeds 300 minutes, no further effect can be expected.
[0017] [Method of Evaluating Hydrophobicity] The dimethylpolysiloxane component of the mixture obtained in step (1) is removed, and the hydrophobicity of the extracted solid is evaluated. 15 g of the mixture obtained in step (1) is mixed with 30 g of n-hexane, shaken 20 times, centrifuged, and the supernatant is removed. The same operation is repeated twice, and the precipitate is dried in a 100°C forward wind dryer for 12 hours to extract the solid. 10 mg of the solid extracted from the mixture obtained in step (1) is weighed into a test tube containing 4 mL of an aqueous solution with an appropriately changed mixture ratio of water and methanol, and the floating state of the powder after standing for 30 minutes is visually confirmed. Focusing on the liquid level of the aqueous solution, the methanol volume % of the aqueous solution when the entire powder sinks is taken as the hydrophobicity. The hydrophobicity is a concept that expresses the degree of hydrophobicity of fine particles, and the higher the hydrophobicity, the higher the hydrophobicity.
[0018] The hydrophobicity degree of the solid matter extracted from the mixture obtained in step (1) is not particularly limited, but is preferably 20 to 45, and more preferably 25 to 35. There is a correlation between the stirring time in step (1) and the hydrophobicity degree, and the longer the stirring time, the higher the hydrophobicity degree.
[0019] Component (D) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is an oil agent other than silicone that is usually used in cosmetics. Silicone as used herein is a general term for organosilicon compound polymers with siloxane bonds as the basic skeleton. Examples of component (D) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific manufacturing process of the present invention include hydrocarbons such as isododecane, liquid paraffin, hydrogenated polyisobutene, squalane, petrolatum, microcrystalline wax, and ceresin, higher alcohols such as cetyl alcohol, isostearyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol, and 2-hexyldecanol, cetyl 2-ethylhexanoate, isotridecyl isononanoate, 2-ethylhexyl palmitate, neopentyl glycol di-2-ethylhexanoate, and neopentyl dicaprylate. Examples of the oil agent include, but are not limited to, glyceryl glycol, neopentyl glycol dicaprate, glycerin tri-2-ethylhexanoate, glycerin triisostearate, polyglycerol fatty acid ester, pentaerythritol fatty acid ester, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, and other esters; animal and vegetable oils and fats such as olive oil, macadamia nut oil, sunflower oil, and lanolin; fatty acids such as lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid; and wax esters such as beeswax, candelilla wax, and carnauba wax. In addition, these oil agents may be used alone or in combination of two or more. Among them, hydrocarbons are preferred.
[0020] The total content (B)+(C)+(D) of the components (B), (C), and (D) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific manufacturing process of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 5 to 25% by weight, more preferably 10 to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the emulsion composition. If it is less than 5% by weight, the water repellency after application may decrease. On the other hand, if it exceeds 25% by weight, the skin may become sticky after application, and the tactile properties may decrease.
[0021] The component (E) constituting the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 3 to 18% by weight, more preferably 7 to 13% by weight, based on the oil-in-water emulsion composition. If it is less than 3% by weight, the oil-in-water emulsion composition may not be formed. Similarly, if it exceeds 18% by weight, the oil-in-water emulsion composition may not be formed.
[0022] The apparatus used for mixing in the steps (2), (3), and (4) of producing the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is a mechanical stirrer that is usually used for dispersing in liquid, such as a disperser mixer, a homogenizer, or a high-pressure homogenizer.
[0023] The form of the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention is not particularly limited, and the composition can be widely applied in any form that is conventionally used in cosmetics, such as basic cosmetics such as lotion, milky lotion, cream, facial cleanser, gel, and pack, makeup cosmetics such as makeup base, foundation, eye shadow, and cheek color, and sunscreen.
[0024] In addition to the above-mentioned components, the oil-in-water emulsion composition obtained by the specific production process of the present invention can appropriately contain, as necessary, components that are typically blended into cosmetics, such as fluorinated oils, polyhydric alcohols, sugars, oil-soluble polymers, moisturizers, UV absorbers, pH adjusters, antioxidants, sequestering agents, bactericides / preservatives, dyes, fragrances, plasticizers, organic solvents, drugs, animal and plant extracts, body filler powders, organic coloring materials, inorganic coloring materials, pearl pigments, surface-treated powders, composite pigments, amino acids and peptides, vitamins, and the like, within a range that does not impair the effects of the present invention. Effect of the Invention
[0025] The present invention can provide a method for producing an oil-in-water emulsion composition for cosmetics that has a fresh and light feel and is excellent in storage stability and water repellency without using a surfactant. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0026] The present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to examples. Note that the present invention is not limited to the following examples. In addition, the contents in the following examples are expressed in weight percent unless otherwise specified.
[0027] The compositions obtained in Examples 1 to 22 and Comparative Examples 1 to 7 were evaluated for four items: (1) whether or not they could form an oil-in-water emulsion composition, (2) storage stability, (3) feel characteristics as a cosmetic, and (4) water repellency. The evaluation was performed according to the following criteria.

The average particle size was determined by the median diameter (D 50 ) is used. ⊚: An oil-in-water emulsion composition was formed, and the average particle size of the emulsion particles was 30 μm or less. ◯: An oil-in-water emulsion composition was formed, but the average particle size of the emulsion particles was greater than 30 μm. ×: The emulsion was not emulsified and separated, or a water-in-oil emulsion composition or multiple emulsion was formed.
[0029] [Evaluation 2: Storage stability] The prepared emulsion composition was allowed to stand at 50° C. for one month, and the appearance was observed visually and with an optical microscope (VHX 8000, manufactured by KEYENCE Corporation) to evaluate its stability. The evaluation criteria are as follows. ⊚: No coarsening or coalescence of emulsion particles was observed. ◯: Coarsening and coalescence of emulsion particles is slightly observed. ×: Coarsening and coalescence of emulsion particles are clearly observed.
[0030] [Rating 3: Freshness when applied] The prepared emulsion compositions were used by five cosmetic expert panelists in their 20s to 40s, who were then asked to rate the freshness of the composition when applied to the skin according to the following evaluation criteria. The average score was calculated for each oil-in-water emulsion composition, and the composition was judged according to the following criteria. <Evaluation criteria> [Usability] [Rating] Very good: 5 Good :4 Average:3 Slightly poor: 2 Bad :1 <Judgment criteria> [Average score] [Judgment] 4.5 or higher: ◎ 3.5 or more and less than 4.5: ○ 2 or more and less than 3.5: △ Less than 2: ×
[0031] [Rating 4: Water repellency] 0.1 g of the emulsion composition was applied onto a quartz plate, and after drying, 100 μL of water was dropped onto it, and the diameter of the water that had spread after 30 seconds was measured. The evaluation criteria were as follows: ◎: Less than 1 cm ○: 1cm or more, less than 1.2cm △: 1.2cm or more and less than 1.5cm ×: 1.5cm or more
[0032] The oil-in-water emulsion compositions obtained according to the formulations in Table 1 were prepared by the production method described below. (Manufacturing method) Components 1 to 3 were kneaded at 30°C using a planetary mixer (PLM-2, manufactured by Inoue Seisakusho) at a rotation speed of 50 rpm {corresponding to step (1)}, components 4 and 5 were added thereto, and a dispersion treatment was carried out using a homogenizer (T25digital ULTRA TURRAX, manufactured by IKA) at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (2)}. Component 6 was further added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (3)}, and finally components 7 to 11, which had been mixed and dispersed in advance, were added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (4)} to obtain the compositions shown in the examples and comparative examples in Table 1.
[0033] Table 1 JPEG2025062734000001.jpg227105
[0034] From the results shown in Table 1, the compositions (Examples 1 to 8) containing component (A) silica, component (B) dimethylpolysiloxane, component (C) diphenylsiloxyphenyl trimethicone, component (D) oil other than silicone, component (E) ethanol, and component (F) water and obtained by the specific manufacturing steps (1) to (4) all formed good oil-in-water emulsion compositions, and further showed good results in storage stability, tactile properties, and water repellency. In particular, the oil-in-water emulsion compositions (Examples 2, 3, 6, and 7) containing 0.3 to 0.7% by weight of component (A) silica and 7 to 13% by weight of component (E) ethanol were evaluated to show remarkable effects in all evaluation items. On the other hand, the composition not containing component (A) (Comparative Example 1), the composition not containing component (B) (Comparative Example 2), and the composition to which hydrogenated polyisobutene was added instead of component (B) dimethylpolysiloxane (Comparative Example 3) did not substantially undergo the specific manufacturing step (1), and did not obtain an emulsion composition. In addition, the composition not containing component (C) diphenylsiloxyphenyl trimethicone (Comparative Example 4) formed a multiple emulsion, and a stable oil-in-water emulsion composition was not obtained. The composition not containing component (E) ethanol (Comparative Example 5) formed a water-in-oil emulsion composition, and an oil-in-water emulsion composition was not obtained.
[0035] The oil-in-water emulsion compositions obtained according to the formulations in Table 2 were prepared by the production method described below. (Manufacturing method) Components 1 and 2 were kneaded at 30°C using a planetary mixer (PLM-2, manufactured by Inoue Seisakusho) at a rotation speed of 50 rpm {corresponding to step (1)}, components 3 to 5 were added thereto, and a dispersion treatment was carried out using a homogenizer (T25digital ULTRA TURRAX, manufactured by IKA) at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (2)}. Component 6 was further added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (3)}, and finally components 7 to 12, which had been mixed and dispersed in advance, were added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (4)} to obtain the compositions shown in the examples in Table 2.
[0036] Table 2 JPEG2025062734000002.jpg227125
[0037] From the results shown in Table 2, the compositions (Examples 9 to 18) containing component (A) silica, component (B) dimethylpolysiloxane, component (C) diphenylsiloxyphenyl trimethicone, component (D) oil other than silicone, component (E) ethanol, and component (F) water and obtained by the specific manufacturing steps (1) to (4) all formed good oil-in-water emulsion compositions, and further showed good results in storage stability, feel characteristics, and water repellency. In particular, the oil-in-water emulsion compositions (Examples 10, 11, 14, and 15) in which the weight ratio (B) / (A) of component (A) to component (B) was 15 to 20 and the total content (B)+(C)+(D) of components (B), (C), and (D) was 10 to 20 showed remarkable effects in all evaluation items. The oil-in-water emulsion composition (Example 17) in which the oil other than silicone component (D) was isotridecyl isononanoate tended to show a slight decrease in water repellency. The oil-in-water emulsion composition containing a surfactant (Example 18) also showed a similar tendency to have a reduced water repellency. According to the present invention, sufficient storage stability can be ensured without substantially containing a surfactant.
[0038] The oil-in-water emulsion compositions obtained according to the formulations in Table 3 were prepared by the production method described below. (Manufacturing method) Components 1 and 2 were mixed at 30°C using a planetary mixer (PLM-2, manufactured by Inoue Seisakusho) at a rotation speed of 50 rpm {corresponding to step (1)}, components 3 and 4 were added thereto, and a dispersion treatment was carried out using a homogenizer (T25digital ULTRA TURRAX, manufactured by IKA) at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (2)}. Component 5 was further added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (3)}, and finally components 6 to 11, which had been mixed and dispersed in advance, were added thereto, and mixed using a homogenizer at a rotation speed of 6000 rpm {corresponding to step (4)} to obtain the compositions shown in the examples in Table 3.
[0039] Table 3 JPEG2025062734000003.jpg128170
